Not a bad choice and if you want somewhere close to airport then fine. Also you can walk into the small town of Daria (10 mins0 which is fine with a couple of nice pubs. Would have given 4 but felt a bit misled by the claim of “free airport transfer” - yes this is true but only between the hours of 5am and 10am. So if you come in later of do not need to go back later you need to get a taxi from the airport. I got stung for 20 euros from airport (5 mins) and it was 15 coming back. So factor this in to the cost.

This could have been a better stay as the room was very nice and fresh, recently refurbished, affordable, and conveniently located close to the airport. Free parking as well, but don't expect much more than a bar and some sad-looking tapas if you're hungry, and there's nothing close by to get a bite. I drove around quite a while looking, and ended up having a glass of wine and crisps for dinner at the hotel bar. Everything worked very well in the room and was well thought out, EXCEPT the door. You can hear a whisper outside, and people kept coming until the wee hours, waking me up. If an entire soccer team shows up at midnight, make sure they don't have a party outside your door, but really, it wouldn't have been such a problem if the door had been well insulated from noise. This is important for a hotel so that its guests are not disturbed every time someone walks by. Being able to sleep well is the primary purpose when staying at a hotel, isn't it? I stayed in 5 hotels during this 2-week trip and did not encounter any noise issues, so this poor insulation door issue stood out. You can see gaps all around it. Fix it, and I would have given you four stars. Add some better food in the bar, serve coffee at 7 am, and I would have given you five stars:)

Overnight stay for the airport

Stayed here simply because we needed a hotel near the airport and for this it was perfect. It’s a large impersonal hotel with basic rooms. It had a bar and restaurant serving average food but the free shuttle in the morning was much appreciated.

Not your average airport hotel

Do not be misled by the pictures, this 70 room hotel is actually a small cafeteria-style breakfast area and foyer on the ground floor and bedrooms on the fifth floor. If you are not keen on the tiny glass elevator over the dustbins, that is quite a climb up an inhospitable staircase (240 steps, to be precise).

Our children's room was quite a way from ours, despite our advance request for closeness. This was probably for the best, as the children were not kept awake by the all-night chatting, laughing and singing from other guests (or residents? who knows what was going on on the other floors of this building) echoing up through the building. Nor were they troubled by the stench of fresh sewage that entertained us. They did, however, quickly discover the inviting wide window ledges with fully opening windows (near miss. This was particularly surprising as the windows were modern and had spaces for locks/limitors which could easily have been fitted).

Ah well, we can have a cup of coffee. No. The restaurant is only open for breakfast. The tea and coffee making facilities consisted of a kettle, no cups and one sachet of nescafe.

Breakfast was inadequate. With one lady to serve and no self-service, it was slow. The options were a ham roll, a croissant or tortilla - and no, you cannot have two items. with nothing suitable for our lactose- and gluten-sensitive child, we had our own cereal and milk, but were told off for helping ourselves to a bowl and spoon from a pile nearby.

Check in was quick and easy, and arranging a shuttle for the airport when I checked in was simple as well. They took the initiative to call our room in the morning to make sure we were on our way.
Having some more information online on the restaurant would be great though, so we could plan for food

The inside of the hotel is not what you would expect when seeing the exterior. The rooms are very roomy and clean and very modern. We stayed our last night in Bilbao before returning home here and we enjoyed it.

we greeted at reception by a very helpful and informative guy who give us all the details re getting to the airport. The room was clean and tidy and comfortable perfect for a stay before or after flights, all good. Oh, wait there was the problem of being woken by a group of young people clearly excited about their trip which is great. However they hotel saw fit to put us in the middle of this group who were running about from room to room shouting laughing and screaming and they even woke me up and I am an extremely heavy sleeper. it was not the young peoples fault more the hotels for putting us in this room in the middle of this group Thanks

I booked a triple room because it was close to the airport for me and my two grown children. My son and i were flying out early in the morning back to Canada and my daughter whom lives in Spain had come from San Sebastián to see us off. When i got to the hotel (which looks like an insane asylum from the outside) he front desk demanded passports from us all even though I was paying for the room and gave a credit card my passport etc. well my daughter whom wasn’t traveling didn’t have a passport with her so he wasn’t going to allow us to check in. This was extremely stressful as we were in the middle of no where late in the evening and language was an issue. After arguing that nowhere on my reservation did it say all guest must provide a passport to stay my daughter ended up speaking to a manager on the phone and finally they allowed use to check in.
I will say the room was way better then I thought it would be and very spacious. It’s just too bad the staff was rude and there’s no where to eat late at night. Plus you must check in by midnight for some reason as well.

Proximity to airport and price are the main positives. Room was comfortable. The downside to this hotel is distance to downtown and lack of any restaurants/bars/activities near the hotel. Hotel is only on the 5th floor and its a BIG building. Hallway is dark with a deep red carpet.

The strangest hotel ever! Was it converted from army barracks or an asylum? Would be interesting to know.
While the room had a minimalist setting, the place was clean and the staff (of one) pleasant.
Very depressing but very convenient to the airport and fine for a one night stay.

Modern room, close to airport.

We chose this hotel for our family because it was close to the Bilbao airport (for 7am flight the next morning) and offered a free shuttle service. The check in was quick and the receptionist spoke English well. There is also a restaurant onsite, which is convenient because otherwise you need a car or taxi to get food. The restaurant food was adequate and the staff was very attentive. We were also looking forward to using the sports complex described, but when we got there it was all locked/closed up. The hotel staff couldn't tell us the hours. You should also know that the hotel is actually just one floor of a giant old building that houses various other businesses and offices. Parts of the building looked to be unused and in disrepair. Seems like it's an effort to revitalize an historic building for multiple uses. The hotel room itself was modern, spacious and clean. There is no air conditioner and no fan, so if it's hot, you need to sleep with the windows open (and can hear airplanes taking off/landing until about midnight).

Very pleasant helpful staff. Easy check-in. Marvelous little bar / restaurant. Location right off the highway less than 5 minutes from the airport is perfect for travelers looking to catch an early flight next morning.
The room itself was as plain, generic as possible. No decorations, no personality, linoleum floors, but functional for a good night's sleep and a nice shave and tooth toothbrushing in the morning.

I chose this hotel because of its vicinity to the airport and because it has a very convenient bus shuttle to it.
This is a building that is shared with other businesses. The hotel lobby is on the entrance floor, that can be accessed through an elevator outside of the building (wasn´t in working order during my stay) or a long set of stairs. The hotel rooms occupy the whole 5th floor.
Rooms are simple and clean, with the basic needs. I liked the room, the hotel, and the fact that there is a cafeteria/restaurant by the lobby which makes easy to have a quick snack or something to go without needing to leave the building, as there is nothing else in the area.
If I need to stay in a hotel close to the airport again, I will certainly stay here again.

Not good to start with. We were given one of the worst rooms in the hotel. Smelling of damp, a broken and dirty fridge. This disappointed us big time as when we demanded a better room, we realised most rooms had been upgraded and yet we were given an old dated room. I could not help think maybe it was our skin colour that the check-in personnel felt deserved such a room. On our request, we were moved into one of the upgraded rooms. Better, clean room. Had space for a fridge, but there was none. We decided not to bother asking. We felt the hotel staff would start labelling us troublemakers, as it is they did not come across as friendly at all!
The picture on the website gives the impression of the hotel occupying the whole building. Well noooo, it only occupies one floor. So be ready to be woken up in the wee hours of the morning by workmen making a lot of noise at the back of the hotel. On a plus side, parking is free. However be ready to pay loads of money for train fare to Bilbao. Would we stay again? NO!

Staying in a big old building

Only the top fifth floor is a hotel the other floor are apparently offices. Can't miss it once in its vicinity; it dominates the skyline. Not a homely place but functional, great car parking space but not secured.
Metro can take a while to find although probably only a kilometre away.

The Nightmare Shining Hotel

The front desk staff was very nice. However, they were not that knowledgeable when it came to giving simple answers such as telling us that the shuttle would pick us at the hotel at 4 pm on Sunday when it reality it did not have service in the afternoon. The location of the hotel was horrible and in the middle of an unkept field. It looked like the hotel from the movie The Shining. The night restaurant waitress was rude and very unfriendly!!! The rooms did not have air conditioning and were infested with mosquitoes!!!!! It was a horrific night. We all had over 10-30 mosquito bites!!!!! I would NOT recommend this hotel at all!!!!! Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in Spain.

First of all, there's airport drop-off, but no shuttle, so you can't get picked up FROM the airport. Fine, whatever. The drop-off is a cab they prepay.

Secondly, read all pertinent details. The hotel is not the photo: this 5-story former seminary. It is ONE HALLWAY on the seminary, a dimly-lit red-carpeted Overlook Hotel vibe. Your keycard is not magnetized, it's this old hole-punched thing. There is Wi-Fi, but the Wi-Fi logs you out every single time your phone or computer goes to sleep mode. There is NOTHING to do in the region. The nearby town, Derio, bless it, is a run-down slum with zero attraction or food options. As for the rooms:

No art. The room feels like vacation jail. Or like a boarding school (or seminary!)

They have a strange smell.

Ours have three very bright and strange lights, no lamps, no nightstand (just a wall shelf with a single phone on it). So barren it almost ruined what had been a perfect travel day. The pillows smelled like livestock.

No air. We had to open the windows because it was freaking hot and so then we got eaten up by mosquitoes all night.

No ice machine, no coffee.

The "restaurant" is a cafeteria that looks like a bus stop and only serves food from 8-10:30 pm. The bartender is mean and rude.

The man at the desk was very kind, and it seems like they can't truly help it. But stay anywhere else, really.

Took taxi into city, wide variation in price going in to coming back, make sure you ask price before journey! Hotel a little bit in middle of nowhere but handy for airport, clean and staff friendly. No English speakers which is always interesting! Rooms basic but OK, plenty of parking which was useful. Bilbao well worth a day or two visit.

Good airport hotel

Hotel is reasonably convenient for getting to the airport for an early flight. However, they only have a shuttle to the airport, and the 5-minute cab ride from the airport was $12. Please consider adding a shuttle to go both directions.
Hotel itself was fine. Clean and the front desk person was very friendly. Wish they had a coffee maker in the room.

Impressive from the outside

The street address was not in our GPS and hence rather difficult to find. We had to use a similar sounding street name to get close to the hotel. Possibly due to language issues as the Basque country seems to use a different language from Spanish. The hotel was in a very impressive and massive building. That was how we found the hotel because it was the largest structure around the neighborhood.

Simple accommodation near the airport

This was a fine hotel that served its purpose of being close to the airport, and provided shuttle pick up and drop off to the airport. It's in the middle of nowhere, so it really is just a place to sleep. No bells and whistles. It felt clean and safe. The restaurant there isn't great, but not horrible for lunch. For dinner I took a pleasant walk to the nearby residential area, about 10-20min. There, I got myself some great deli meats, cheese, baguette and a bottle of wine for all less than 8€, and brought them back to my room happily.

Unusual hotel in a building that looks something between a castle and a housing estate. It was a little hard to find and even my GPS got a little confused.

The room was very comfortable. Everything worked well. Wi-Fi was excellent. Plenty of parking. The staff at the front desk were efficient.

The cafe was terrible. Food choices were extremely limited and the staff were totally oblivious to customers. When I entered there were three staff members at the counter discussing something of immense importance. They didn't leave their conversation even to make eye contact with me. I asked if they were serving dinner and one of them turned to me really slowly and reluctantly and said, "Yes". 10 minutes later and someone appeared to take my order. Altogether it took 45 minutes to have a simple dinner of chicken strips and fries.

Practical and clean/simple/adequate airport hotel

Nice basic hotel near the airport. Perfect for 1 to 2 nights after arriving or before departing from the airport. Bilbao downtown is about a 15 minute drive from here. Very friendly staff. We did not try the restaurant. Room was very clean and certainly worthy of at least 3 star rating. Plenty of free parking. I would go back to this hotel for our pre departure overnight in Bilbao.

Hotel Seminario in Bilbao

I recommend Hotel Seminario in Bilbao if you are going to be be for a short stay in Bilbao, specially if you need to be nearby Bilbao's airport. The Hotel's staff were amazing and friendly. You have a free bus shuttle to Bilbao's airport. I highly recommend to eat the "platos combinados" in the menu. The food is very good with a good price. Impossible to miss the Basque pinchos (pintxos in Basque language).

The hotel is a basic facility that seems to have been a large facility before. The facilities are underwhelming, however; if you arrive late, want a close hotel to the airport and are leaving early the next morning, the price is right. 12euro taxi each way, has a shuttle for the right times. The rooms are basic along with the restaurant. A 15min walk away you can find a few reasonable local restaurants, we found an okay place for good price and good service

The Seminario is an OK hotel. Nothing special. But the location (close to the airport) and the price made it the perfect place to stay in Bilbao. The staff was super helpful. I had to have some things printed out and faxed to the US and the front desk staff was really great.

Hotel was suitable for going into Bilbao centre by Tram - 5 minute walk to station. Good to park the car outside without charge etc. Hotel is situated in a building used for conventions, meetings, offices etc and within the grounds are sports facilities, golf course etc. Hotel rooms were of satisfactory standard and staff were pleasant. The only disappointment for us was that we had specifically chosen a hotel that provided a buffet breakfast.. Although this hotel advertised this on the website, in reality it did not provide it. Breakfast had to be taken in the cafeteria which was open to the public. Hotel clients had to queue up at the bar along with everyone else and state what you wanted to the person behind the bar.The only food items on offer were tapas type e.g.small sandwiches that all contained meat and cold tortilla and croisants. Therefore as non meateaters all we had for breakfast was a croissant and coffee. We had spent the previous night in a spanish hotel and for breakfast enjoyed a buffet breakfast where we helped ourselves to coffee, tea, fruitjuice, yoghurt, cheese,breadrolls,criossants etc. When we questioned this at reception we were told this type of breakfast came with room and no reduction would be offered.This was not what was advertised on the website for the Seminario. Therefore we were very disappointed and would not go there again.

The hotel was spacious and the room I had was good. But it was January and there was only one small radiator, which was turned off at night, so the room was quite cold. There was no restaurant. There was a cafe, the staff were great but the food basic. The free internet access was good. For sporty people there were a number of activities that would be of interest. The reception staff were great.

Mediocre por el precio que pagas

Camas duras, poco aislamiento acústico, climatización centralizada (en mayo hacía 26 grados en la habitación pero sólo estaba preparado para echar aire caliente, no frío). En fin de semana no ofrecen servicio de comidas. El resto OK.

Gute Aufenthalt in der Nähe des Flughafens.

Gute Unterkunft in der Nähe des Flughafens. Hilfreich, wenn man zu den späteren oder früheren Flügen zum Flughafen muß. Man kann das Flughafen-Transfer voraus buchen, funktioniert wunderbar.

Chambre standard, rien à redire sur la propreté.
On entend bien les avions, même s'il y en a peu, du coup c'est pas vraiment dérangeant.
Aucune chaîne TV étrangère, et pas moyen de connecter un Chromecast, dommage.

A fuire !!!

Nous avons fait un check in tardif pour cause de retard d’avion. Accueil tres froid par le veilleur de nuit.

L’hotel semble immense de l’extérieur et cela se confirme à l'intérieur. Les communs et l’accueil semblent avoir été rénovés récemment, plutôt avec gout.

Demande d’une chambre avec lit double et au final deux lits simples dans une ambiance monacale sans décoration et un état tres tres moyen. La chambre n’a pas eu les memes faveurs que le couloir (interminable donnant l’effet « Shining »)

La salle de bain est d’origine (année 60/70?) avec même un bidet.
Baignoire d’un autre temps avec faïence murale repeinte qui s'écaille de partout. Le pommeau de douche ne tient qu’à un fil.

La literie est à l’image de la chambre avec des couvertures marrons élimées et qui sentent mauvais! Quel hotel utilise encore des couvertures en 2024???

Et pour finir une isolation calamiteuse avec des bruits dans les couloirs et chambres avoisinantes, des hurlements, des meubles qui glissent au sol, des gens qui courent jusque 2h du matin sans intervention du l’agent d’accueil.

Et le tout à 125€ pour 2 personnes, sans le petit déjeuner. C’est donc du vol au regard de la prestation qui ne vaut guere un formule 1 à 80€ maxi.

Ideal pour une nuit de transit

Sur le Camino, je me suis arrêté là par hasard pour une nuit. A proximité de l'aeroport, au final on n'entend pas les avions la nuit.
Domage qu'il n'y ai pas de service de restauration dans le bâtiment.
Toutefois il y a de quoi se restaurer a 1km à pied.

Et hyggelig hotell nær flyplassen

Trivelig hotell med god service - shuttlebuss til flyet. Fine turområder like i nærheten gav meg en hyggelig opplevelse i ventetida på turen hjem.
