Good clean room with modern furnishings however there were renovations to the museum across the very narrow alley with lights on all night and very thin curtains which made sleeping problematic. Also the rooms are one or two floors up with a very twisting old wooden staircase with uneven steps so taking luggage up is quite difficult.

Stayed here for three nights as a solo female traveler and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very safe, perfectly located within a one minute walk of the metro. All of the bars in the old town are on your doorstep. Spacious room and modern bathroom. Would absolutely recommend.

Good room, main issue was it is extremely stuffy inside as the windows there lead to nothing and there is no AC. You can have the ceiling fan on which helps but I personally can't sleep with wind blowing at my face. It is also thin walls so it is noisy. Everything else was good. If you need towels you need to ask while they are opened as we seemed to have a missing towel. Overall there are 3 codes and doors to get to your room so it is safe, but also suggests the area maybe not as safe at night.

Good value room in the old city close to everything including the metro. Super quiet despite location. Basic room, but had what you needed and great shower. Very clean. Little natural light in room, but spent most time outside so not a big issue. Easy to walk to train station, Guggenheim etc. Would stay there again.

Would return to the same hotel because it was so walkable, close to the old center and relatively quiet even in the middle of the center. Didn't open the windows and balcony doors, so it must be the good sound proofing of the doors. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and airy. Furnished quite sparsely but the price was reasonable.

Front desk staff was amazing.

Cleaning supplies used have an over-powering odour. Those sensitive to scents might want to avoid.

And the room was sweltering. Ceiling fan helped a lot.

Fabulous hotel in the perfect location

Absolutely fabulous location. Couple of minutes walk to the piazza. The underground is less than a minute walk. Lots of bars and food places. The hotel is spotless. Staff are lovely. And that bed. Oh my word, I wanted to take it with me to the next hotel! Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve slept in for a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The stairs are not for the faint hearted though!

A great location, walking distance to everywhere. Building is undergoing renovation so stairwell is dark and dingy, but don’t let this put you off…… rooms are fabulous, new and clean. Bathroom sparklingly clean, lots of hot water. Beds comfortable. Room very very quiet, no outside noise at all although street was bustling - very well insulated. Staff lovely and welcoming with good communication. A few things missing from room but I suspect these may come when renovation is complete. ie safe was locked (could have asked for it to be opened but it wasn’t a problem), no drinking glasses, a mini fridge for our water would be good and tea & coffee making would be really useful. Would definitely stay here again and would definately recommend due to location and comfort of room.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, carrying my big suitcase up the steep stairs for me (I didn’t ask them to!). The agreed to us leaving luggage before and after our check in. The room was comfortable with good facilities and a great location. We were at the back of the hostel so despite building works and bars downstairs (at the front of the hostel) we couldn’t hear any of the noise. We’d stay again!

I booked this place due to the location and it didn’t disappoint!
Rooms are basic, but very clean. My only slight annoyance was there was only one working plug socket in the room.
Service was great. The guy behind the reception desk was super helpful, though had limited English.
Noise was a bit of an issue in the night - I think that as there’s no soft furnishings anywhere sound just echoes throughout all rooms, slightly annoying but not a huge problem.

If you’re looking for an affordable guesthouse and basing on an old town location I’d thoroughly recommend!

A very nice older hotel in the old city center

It is a nice older hotel in the old part of the city where only pedestrians are allowed. My room and bathroom were both large, the breakfast was a typical Spanish breakfast: coffee, fresh orange juice, a croissant and tostada with tomatoes and olive oil.

There are two items to be aware of. First, there is no elevator and it is 26 stairs up to the lobby and 20 stairs up to each additional floor. Second, they do NOT have air conditioning, just a small fan in the room - I slept with the window open and fan at the foot of the bed with no sheet on, and it was still warm (they are having a heat wave in Europe).

Otherwise, I found the hotel to be very nice and in a great location, less than 10 minute walk from the train station and with many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel right in the middle of casco viejo area. Plenty bars and restaurants on the street and nice plazas nearby, but no noise in the room. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast basic but ideal. We would definitely recommend for a weekend in Bilbao.

He estado 4 veces y la habitación siempre me ha parecido bien para el precio, pero el proiblema lo tuve en recepción la última que me trataron en público como si fuera hacer uso de la habitación diferente al contratado (1 persona). Entiendo ese hostal pueda tener clientes hagan ese tipo de irregularidades pero no deberian generalizar a todos y los encargados deberian ser mas amables

Travel Back in Time on this Hostel

The location can't be beat. Inside the Casco Viejo of Bilbao is like traveling in time. Having said that, you will not find parking if you are driving, unless you park in the public underground at El Arenal a good 1.5 km from the hotel (we planned for that). During our arrival, the guy at the lobby was not very helpful when my wife had to carry the luggage three floors.
As it is in a very lively area of the old town, you will have to deal with noise from the multiple restaurants around. That actually made it better for us.
Anyone going to Bilbao's Casco Viejo for R&R, should better stay in the suburbs. Vascs are known for having dinner after 9 pm and pintxos and drinks well in to the early morning. We stayed up until 2 am and were able to have a good sleep after that.
Be aware that the stairs are wood and may give a little, particularly if you are carrying heavy luggage.

OK for budget very short stay

Every thing was OK BUT it has a spiral staircase that goes up 3 flight and I was on the second floor. The lights are metered but not long enough. The staff was kind enough to carry my luggage up and down. They were still difficult to navigate a hand rail only on one side and that side the stairs were uneven from wear. The bed was harder than most European beds. OK for a budget very short stay. Breakfast could be improved everything, which was only a small muffin and cookies all prepackaged but the coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice was good. The staff was pleasant.

Awesome location, walkable to lots of sights and the subway. The cafes, bars, and restaurants are right out the door and all over, Bilbao is a great, lively city! Vegan tapas bar right next door to the hotel! Staff are friendly and helpful if you speak Spanish, I helped translate for an English speaking guest. Room is very clean, basic & all we needed, a comfy bed & nice bathroom. TV gets lots of English channels, but you have to go into the TV menu and change the language every time you change the channel, otherwise you have to listen to Spanish dubbed Jason Statham ;)

Room was right above a busy street that had party goers drinking most of the night. Once the bars had packed up then the street cleaners came along and made a noise for hours. Air conditioning wasn't working so the door to the balcony had to be open.

Male receptionist (owner) wouldn't allow me to take an ex colleague to my room to share a drink before meeting up with other colleagues later.

No lift and the stairs are slanted and uneven. Not good if you suffer from any physical disability.

All in all, terrible.

Good location, but smoky and noisy

Location is good, right in the middle of the Old Town. I parked in the Arenal car park which is 5 minutes walk away. Staff were friendly but the hotel and the room smelled strongly of tobacco smoke. Whether this is because it is in a shared building, because there are cafes outside, because it hasn't been decorated since smoking was banned, it was most unpleasant. The room was very noisy too, I finally had to resort to wearing earplugs to get to sleep.

Conveniently located value hotel in Casco Viejo

I was in town for EuroPython and arrived a few days early to play tourist. My two biggest considerations for a hotel included cost and location. Located in Casco Viejo the hotel is perfectly situation. The price is also second to none in the area! I was a little weary at first about wifi but the connection was stupendous and is included in the room cost. The room is basic in amenities, it has a bed, television, and a private bathroom. A cleaning service is provided daily as well. Overall it was precisely what I needed - a cost friendly room by public transit and tourist activities. One work of recommendation - if you don't speak Spanish you won't have much luck at front desk. They don't speak English (at all from what I could tell). I was more than able to get by as I have an intermediate level of (Latin American) Spanish under my belt.

I thought my room was a lot better than I expected - I booked late, aimed at cheap and cheerful, got an en suite room, also very quiet as it was at the back of the hotel, but that was good for me as I wasn't out late. The people at the hotel were friendly, the room was clean - that's what you hope for!

La struttura è molto accogliente, nuova e pulita situata in pieno centro storico con tutti i servizi necessari, personale gentile. Punti di debolezza: assenza di un bollitore in camera (non è prevista la colazione), fornito un solo asciugamano da viso per due persone (ma comunque forniti due teli doccia), ci è’ stato chiesto deposito cauzionale di 50 euro non chiaramente indicato in fase di prenotazione. Le lenzuola avevano una macchia.

Great location in old town with a metro station just around the corner (but you can also easily walk everywhere). Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff was really nice and helpful.

El sitio por el precio que pagas está muy bien. Todo nuevo, en el centro pero en un callejón sin mucho ruido y la cama muy cómoda. El único pero es que no te extrañes si te piden allí depositar una fianza de 50€ “por si fumas en la habitación”. Cosa extrañísima que jamás nos había pasado en ningún otro hotel ni de 1 ni de 5 estrellas. Es cierto que a nosotros esa misma mañana nos aparece en la cuenta otra vez, pero no es habitual coger una fianza, sino como mucho el número de la tarjeta. Aparte de este pequeño inconveniente, la estancia perfecta.
