I would give this hotel more than five stars if I could. Everything was exemplary, from the spotless room (with a little balcony) to the perfect location to the wonderful staff, especially the staff member who checked me in and then always had answers to my questions (unfortunately I did not get her name because she is fantastic). This is an excellent hotel.

Overall we enjoyed our two night stay. The location is central to the old town of Bilbao where all the attractions and restaurants are. You literally just walk around the corner and are in the old town of Bilbao. The room is very modern, and we enjoyed having a nespresso machine in the room to make our morning coffees. One important note, if you are driving and want to park your car in the hotel parking garage please reach out ahead of time and confirm with the hotel you car dimensions as the parking garage and space are very tight and narrow. Larger size vehicles like the one we had may have some trouble with parking.

The driver did not speak English, and we did not speak Spanish. He did not turn on the meter and demanded the \"flat rate to the airport\". Other than that, we did not have any other issues with the hotel.

Spacious room with a view

We loved our spacious river view room and appreciated the nice little welcome touches and cleanliness of the entire hotel. The king sized bed was very comfortable as were the pillows and we loved the bathroom and free slippers. The staff at Hotel Tayko were friendly and helpful and we would stay there again if we make it back to beautiful Bilbao. Great location for our 4 day stay, walkable to almost everything.

Just like each region in Spain has its own flavor, so does each hotel. We’ve had the luck of staying at wonderful hotels but so far Hotel Tayko has raised the bar. The staff, service, cleanliness were incredible. As far as cool factor amazing design of the room and what a location. Perfect for strolls to all the best Pintxo s and restaurants in town. I must say one of my favorites stays of all time and I leave in love with Bilbao. Beautiful location and people.

Very Friendly Good Quality Hotel

This is a well located hotel for sight seeing and being close to restaurants and bars.

The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We had a river view room and it was a nice size and clean with some nice extras like slippers, tea and coffee making facilities.

The architecture in the hotel is a very interesting feature and was what drew me to the hotel in the first place.

Stricking design, may not be for all tastes (good fit for mine). Amazing restaurant on site (well ahead reservations a must for lunch and dinner), nice bar. Rooms on the smaller side (unless you book a junior suite or a room denominated \"extra\") but very comfortable. Right at the edge of the historical quarter, and short walking distance from the modern downtown where all the upscales shops and also great restaurants are. But most important, staff ois great!

Wonderful hotel in a great location

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Tayko. The hotel is really cool, incorporating the old outside of a brick building into the main area of the hotel. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only issue we had was when we discovered I made a mistake with the dates and hadn't cancelled the last night like I should have. The person I talked to when we checked in was really kind about it and suggested I talk to her boss the next day to see about a possible refund or discount for that night, but when I started to explain to the boss, she immediately told me there was nothing she could do. I understood the cancellation policy, but for her to say she \"couldn't\" do anything, when it was clear that she could but just wouldn't kind of rubbed me the wrong way, especially given how expensive the room was. But I understood it was my mistake so we moved on. The thing that really bothered me was on the day we were leaving, they called our room to ask when we were departing, likely so they could rebook our room. So they couldn't help me out at all, but they could make double on our room. Not cool. Other than that, it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again.

She not only checked us in but also gave us a brief history of the hotel and its unique and quirky style. The room was elegant and stylish and the facilities were great - with its neat side bar. We had very poor service at breakfast on our second day. On arrival, some tables were free but not cleaned. We were met by one of the wait staff, who said he would clean a table and then disappeared for over 15 mins. Despite other staff passing by, we were ignored before a young lady staff member helped us out. The two others seemed to be running around like headless chickens but accomplishing very little. We also noticed other guests with issues related to their orders. Lastly, for a Michelin star restaurant, the food offering is sub standard and tasteless

Hotel is in a good location in Old Town. It’s a renovated old building. The room is very bare, looks spartan. They have robes and slippers but you have to ask for them. The robes are very nice, terry on the inside and waffle on the outside. There is coffee, tea, kettle, coffee machine in the room. The bathroom is renovated but the shower is very old with water leaking all over the floor. It was very nice that they had a glass of Cava for us at check in and also a coupon for a free drink and small snack. Breakfast was excellent and very quick. AC in the room worked very well. I would have given 5 stars but I was very upset that when we checked out they gave me a bill and asked if I wanted to add a tip to for the front desk staff!!! That is obnoxious!! Management needs to take this gimmick of the bill. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth as the last thing that you remember about this hotel. Front desk gets paid enough, they are not waitresses and asking for a tip is a horrible practice that will result in people never coming back to your hotel

The area is very central with an easy walk to dining, bars, shopping, transportation and the new city. It was nice to view the river, the bridges and the Bilbao hills right from the room. Just at check out , they ask you if you want to leave tip... never in my life saw that scenario... in my opinion its a shame for 4 star hotel which is close to 5 stars in every aspects.

Beautiful River Stay

Situated just a step on the edge of Old Town, along the river, this hotel is a perfect space to explore Bilbao. Easily walkable, trammable, busable to anywhere you can find yourself needing to go. The hotel itself is stunning, immaculate, interestingly designed, and the staff was a pleasure to deal with. The river view room was quiet, Sunny, and very comfortable. Free in-room drinks, super comfy bed, and plenty of space to lounge and relax. Plus the shower has great water pressure, nice bathroom amenities, and an easy to work thermostat. Just a few steps from all kinds of boutiques, shops, different caliber restaurants, and some old Town must-sees. Can’t recommend this hotel enough.
