The room was OK.

The TV was side ways as the wall arm holding it was falling off the wall.

I had to place a cushion under the TV to have it a bit straight.

Breakfast was included, but in a cafeteria about 10 minutes walk away from the actual hotel.

Breakfast wasn't good, it wasn't worth the walk.

The area was a bit dodgy. Not recommended for women alone to walk around in the evenings.

For how the room was, the area and the weirdness of the breakfast situation, it was definitely pricey.

If you need aparthotel with kitchen, there is not much choice in Bilbao. So, this will be a choice. Room rate is reasonable. Location is close to Bilbao old town. Unfortunately, it is located in an unsafe area, lots of illegal immigrant liked people gather around. Not recommend to single female traveler. We also heard the negative comment from nearby restaurant boss.
Front desk staff is helpful, can answer all your queries. However, when messaging the hotel prior to check-in in person, no prompt answer which frustrated us a bit.
Room is old, bedding and facilities obviously for students dormitory standard. Shower head is broken, room with little unpleasant smell. Downstair is noisy. Not enjoying our stay very much.

The balcony area was poor. It was dirty and on the ground floor so no views besides the back of the surrounding buildings.
The area around the property felt unsafe. The street was cordoned off by police one day due to unrest.
The room did not feel particularly clean when we first arrived. Clearly had been cleaned in a hurry.

Apart from that the property was walkable from all major attractions.

Room good and staff friendly and helpful. Well situated for all the main sights BUT the junkies, drug pushers and illegal street vendors on the street outside was quite unacceptable. I have travelled quite extensively in my long life and have stayed in fairly rough areas and have never felt nervous, but this time I was!!! Has anyone from Expedia actually checked out this place?

This property is not suitable for any tourist.
1. Over 35C for the 3 nights we were there, we didn’t get any sleep. No A/Conditioning they did supply us a small fan. Our room was at 522, the higher floor and the room is very small with 2 windows. We did open both windows for ventilation but honestly was not enough. The noise coming from the traffic and the people around the neighbourhood was very noisy.
2. Our bed was not clean with some dirts and hairs on the bed sheets. Poor hygiene and cleaning. We did offer to change the bedsheets ourselves.
3. Location, the property is situated quite away from the city over 3 km away and not the best part of the neighbourhood. Every night we had to walk passed the square with lots of ethnic groups from Northern Africa looking at us. Numbers of police cars always around the area. The last night, we saw 2 police stopped in front of the square and 4 police officers rushed to arrest a person to the ground. Overall, this place is not safe for tourists nor for the students.
4. The breakfast is not in the same premises, about 1 km away at the local restaurant. orange juice, 1 cup of coffee and 1 piece whatever available on display on shelves.
5. Don’t be deceived by the pictures on the advertisement, the room is very small. Not much to offer even they advertise for a kitchen. No kettle. Only 1 small saucepan to boil water for hot drink.
6. Cleaners weren’t there to clear your rubbish ever and change your wet towels. I personally recommend it.

People not used to cities might find the location and vibe of the streets around the accommodation slightly off-putting, but nothing to be scared of. Location is in fact very handy. If you need the Internet, DON\"T STAY HERE. Instead of giving its guest an internet password, I had to register directly with the provider Ask4; and when it didn't work, the hotel was hands off and I had to contact the provider directly. It never worked during my three days of stay, and the hotel was completely unhelpful and unapologetic.

We had a great stay. Accommodation spot on and the breakfast was great. Didnt seem to be a good area to stay but was ok. Friendly reminders from local shop keepers to keep safe from pick pockets. Great for access to everywhere. We walked but plenty of buses. Would use again.

This property is a student residence. I stayed in a double room with 2 twin beds. It was small but we didn’t need much room since we were only there for the weekend. The bathroom and beds were clean. There was only a top sheet on the bed, no blankets which I didn’t love but the room wasn’t cold so it was okay. There is also a tiny kitchen with plates and a few cooking utensils and a microwave if you want to reheat something and a fridge for storage. There are also a lot of areas to hang out outside of the room and some table games like ping pong and pool. To get from the center of town to the hotel isn’t bad since Bilbao isn’t huge. There’s about 3 minutes of walking where the location doesn’t feel the safest. If you go the opposite direction though it starts to feel more unsafe. Getting into the hotel isn’t a problem, but if you go the other direction it’s a little sketchy. Overall a good experience. The staff were really kind and helpful and they gave us coupons for free breakfast at a small cafe down the street where we could get a coffee and a sandwich or piece of tortilla that was delicious. If you’re only going to Bilbao for the weekend and need a cheap place to stay this is a good option, but probably not the best for more than 3 nights.

Nice room, bad beds, not a nice area of the city

The room is a small student dorm room with hobs, microwave, bathroom and all looked nice.
However, the beds were uncomfortable - they were very soft and dipped in the middle after a short while in them.
The place itself is nice and clean and looks new. There are ping pong and pool tables and areas to socialise.
The only other issue was the location. It's not a nice place to walk back to at night.
We paid 99€ for the night and for that money I would expect comfortable beds.

The place is well located, but even if the service is friendly, it is too inefficient. Checking in took some 10 minutes.
Breakfast is included, and it is breakfast until 11, but bu 9:45, on both days I stayed there, there Ema as nothing left but toast and coffee. They ran out of everything else. My second morning, by 10 there was not even toast. Just coffee.
Showers are uncomfortable, slippery and involve a minor climb into slippery surface.
The street it is on is noisy, and if you plan to go back past 1 am expect to be harassed by street prostitutes.

Hotel residencia Blas de otero was all around a decent place. It’s kind of hard to find because the name is different on the building. It’s in a nice location as far as traveling to sites and restaurants but the surrounding streets are not so nice. Loud music from the streets kept us awake as did the cars and foot traffic. Maybe because our room was right next to the sidewalk. They had a little kitchen to use with some pots and pans which is nice when your try to save money by eating in. WiFi worked well and they do provide toiletries but there por quality. The shower was weird to say the least and the hot water only lasted for a few min. Breakfast was nothing to rave about, some toast and jam was about it. They have a common area with ping pong and pool but we didn’t use that at all. They do have a laundry room which is nice and the front desk can give you change for it. All around I’d say it’s a good place for someone trying to save money and doesn’t mind the little things.

Bed past the best-before date!

We were unaware this is a university residence - no problem though, it was very quiet, secure and clean. The staff were all extremely kind, wifi signal was good. The room is small but adequate for 1 night. 2 things to note: the listing on hotels.com indicates the bed is a queen size. It is not. It’s only a small double. The 2nd thing is that the bed in the room we were assigned, HA003, was well past it’s useful life. It caused us to roll towards the middle and was just generally very uncomfortable. Location is easy walk to old town and a pleasant 1.7 km walk along the river to reach the Guggenheim. A simple breakfast is provided and there are many restaurants or cafes close by. Ok for one night but if a comfortable bed is your preference, take your money elsewhere.

The area looks a bit rough but I encountered no issues whike there. The room itself feels very safe. Main benefits are price, room has cooking faculties and equipment, staff are pleasant and helpful. Could have done with air con though as I had to open a window during the night and it was a bit noisy on the street. Overall, I would recommend as long as your expectations are realistic- these are dorm rooms.

Misleading photos, unavailable management

The pictures posted to this Expedia profile in no way resemble the college dorm they gave me after charging me a nonrefundable deposit. I am not above staying in a college dorm, but the room they gave me had a bed that was literally a child's bed, wedged into a tiny corner of the room. I'm a 6'4\" (2m) tall, full-grown man who could only fit in this bed if I maintained a tightly-formed tuck on par with Olympic divers as they perform somersaults. The room was hot and stuffy with no air conditioner. The front desk didn't even have a desk fan they could offer. Opened the window, but the street was very noisy. Checked out within 10 minutes of check-in, but no manager was onsite to discuss a refund. I made multiple attempts to contact management, as did Expedia, but they ignored all messages for a month until finally refusing to refund either of the 2 nights I paid for when I didn't stay a single night there. The photos grossly misrepresent the rooms, and the reservation policy seems designed to trap people.

Very nice stay.

This hotel is a university residence that is rented out when school is out. The complex itself is really amazing and modern, specially for the younger generation but also for us who are retired. Very modern and cool. Great breakfast room with patio. Large TV room where young adults enjoyed playing video games, playing the guitar and chilling out. Also has study/ conversation areas. A small business center (computer). A laundromat in the basement and a small gym. The decor is modern, colorful and fun! The area might seems a bit sketchy, but only for a block or two. You use your key to get in the building. I wouldn't venture alone at night.
The room was an OK size with small kitchenette. Nice bed and linens. Artsy wallpaper. Nice storage. Be careful walking around the bed since there is a bed leg hidden in the middle side which both myself and my wife hit quite hard. There is no A/C, but it wasn't that warm on the days we visited. It has the most powerful shower that I have ever witness! The tub / shower is a but odd, with a step.

Great place for solo traveler/longer periods...

Purpose built halls of residence for students. Single bed, desk, good cupboard space, compact bathroom, light and airy and kitchenette.

The room was cleverly designed and great for a solo traveler. Cooking facitilies in the room, laundry downstairs and breakfast included. Good price.

I stayed for 4 nights and have no complaints. This is my first time in a hostel. The building though not in the best neighbourhood has decent security and I encountered no issues walking on my own. Check in and check out were very easy and quick with English speaking staff. This place is for you if you simply want a clean place with a decent shower for the night and intend to spend most of your time out sightseeing as there is no TV or any other luxury. Taller people might have problems with the single bed I slept on. Traffic noise and voices outside until fairly late, and other residents occasionally scraping their chairs on the floor can be heard, but I dealt with these with ear plugs and slept ok. The big pluses are the cheap rate, the proximity to the old town which can be reached in under 10 minutes, a big Carrefour supermarket 5 minutes away and decent free wifi. I did not notice any aircon but it was not needed at the end of May. I would be happy to stay here again. My rating is based on knowing what I was getting for the rate I paid, not in comparison to other hotels.

No parking and no cleaning service.

The place is a student's residency used as a hotel in the summer holiday season.

We were travelling from Costa Blanca by car to London and were specifically looking for a hotel with secured parking for our two night stay while visiting the Guggenheim.

We arrived at the hotel and were told that there weren't parking spaces available and had to pay extra €17 for parking, we asked for the manager and were told that he will be there the following morning when that happened to be his day off!

The kitchenette did not have any single utensil not even to boil a cup of water so completely pointless to have that service, we were not offered utensils either.

For our surprise, when we arrive the second evening the room was not cleaned when that was part of the service offered, the receptionist brought clean linen for us to change it ourselves as the cleaner has gone for the day.

Finally we spoke to the manager the last day of our stay, who kindly reimbursed the parking and apologise for the series of issues we encountered.

Not a great experience!

This is like a very very clean dorm room. I had a bathroom within my room and kitchen set up. The one street near the dorm is not great but it's a short walk into the center. I had no problem with ignoring people and if you come back late then just take a cab ride. I stayed for 3 nights and was fine.

Room is small but clean and equipped with everything you need for staying for a while, including cooking utensils and dishwashing soup/paper napkins. And staffs were really kind.
You can visit major sightseeing spots on foot. The location is good but I was a bit unsafe when I walked around the neighborhood area at night. I think it's better for a woman traveling alone not to walk around that area when it's dark.

This hotel is a bit difficult to review.
It is not really a hotel but more a home for university students.
It is not what I normally would consider a Hotel, more a hostel with private rooms.
When that is said, then I can tell you I enjoyed my stay to the full! It is in a wonderful multi etnic neighbourhood close to the train station. This is where the town never sleeps. I had no security issues at all. My expensive car on foreign plates was parked in the street for 4 days and nothing happended to it. The staff was very helpful. There are so many nice facilities at the hotel, including washing mashines. Absolutely wonderful time.

The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. Our room was nice, equipped with a kitchenette that included a fridge and a couple of hot plates. The sort of bathtub was a little strange: too small to take a bath and with half of it higher than the other half which made taking a shower a bit awkward (there must be obviously a use for it). We were surprised that towels were not included (we could have obtained one for €4 but decided to use our travel towels instead). The neighborhood is rather \"colorful\" and makes you think you are either in Africa or in Latin America (the street is noisy throughout the night and when keeping the window open, earplugs are a must to be able to sleep. However the residence is conveniently located fairly close to the train station (about 10-15 mn walk) and the old town.

A real value!

Wanted an inexpensive hotel in central Bilbao. This was it! Close to the main train station and one of the metro stops. Great value for the money. Like most of Spain the staff is handicapped by the lack of English but I managed. The neighborhood is a little dicey, not sure which former Spanish colony the people surrounding the property are from but they seem relatively harmless.

Very small basic apartment. It was situated right on the front of the building. It was very noisy with passing people and traffic. People could look in if you opened the curtains. Breakfast supplied very minimal. We stayed three nights. There was no daily housekeeping and clean towels were an extra 4 euros each. Overall enjoyed Bilboa but wouldn't recommend accommodation.

Je n'ai pas eu le temps de profiter de la salle de sport et je ne l'ai pas visitée.
Sinon très bonne équipement du studio (ameublement, coin cuisine et salle d'eau). Le personnel est agréable.
La résidence n'est pas très loin de l'arrêt de bus (moyua) pour l'aéroport, un peu de marche.
La résidence est située dans une zone avec une forte présence d'immigrée mais une présence permanente des polices locales fait que cela ne pose pas de problèmes d'insécurités. Seul risque identifié par des habitants du quartier serait des vols si on ne fait preuve de prudence.
le seul point négatif du logement est la literie, mal de dos au file des jours. mon logement était côté rue en face d'un espace ou est récupéré la ferraille apportée par les miséreux ce qui engendre du bruit le matin mais avec bouchons d'oreille. Le pdj est proposé à qq mètres dans un bar local à prendre avec la population locale (produit frais et bon). je retournerai dans ce logement

Staff very friendly.
Very expensive for location and comfort.
While rather centrally located, the area does not seem safe, which is unusual in itself in Spain.
The room was clean but very simple and had some bars in front of the window.
Breakfast is served in a different location.

Muy buen sitio para alojarse, cerca de todo. He estado en un estudio y disponía de todas las comodidades. El personal está siempre disponible para ayudarte, las 24h, y son muy amables. El entorno no parece ser el mejor cuando llega la tarde-noche, pero yo no he tenido problema alguno.
Sin duda lo recomiendo, y cuando vuelva a Bilbao repetiré.

Je suis venu dans cet hôtel afin de visiter le musée Guggenheim avec ma fille.
La résidence est trés bien par rapport à son emplacement car tout est accessible à pieds. Les équipements et la chambre sont cohérents avec la description et le personnel est gentil.
Quand au musée il est incroyable en extérieur et en intérieur. A visiter absolument.

Habitacion muy pequeña con dos camas individuales pequeñitas normal ya que es una habitacio de estudiantes universitarios. No recomendable por lo que se ofrece y el precio que se paga ( muy caro para lo que se ofrece ). Zona fuera de la residencia muy sucia y la barriada muy decadente

petit bémol, la rue sert de marché informel jusqu'à 1h du matin, avec la chaleur le choix se fait entre le bruit +++ et crever de chaud.

Habitación aceptable, localización horrible

La habitación no esta mal, lo malo es la localización. Si abres las ventanas huele fatal. Y la calle da bastante miedo por la gente que hay. El servicio de limpieza solo pasó una vez en toda la semana.

Udemærket hotel - belastet nabolag

Vi havde på forhånd læst nogle anmeldelser hvor der stod at det var et belastet nabolag hotellet lå i. Og på vej derhen må vi også erkende at det var rigtigt. Men vores oplevelse med gadesælgerne og narkomanerne var egentlig at de bare passede sig selv. Kun en enkelt gang var der en der var lige lovligt påtrængende, men ellers var de egentligt fredelige nok. Politiet er meget til stede og har fokus på hotellets gade, så det var rart nok. I forhold til hotellet var der ikke noget at klage over! Pænt, rent og et yderst imødekommende og hjælpsomt personale og vagter om aftnen. Kan klart anbefales, hvis man bare skal på eventyr i hele Bilbao og man køre det hele lidt på budget.

Stanza comoda, al piano terra, letto comodo, doccia funzionale e frigo e cucina in stanza eventualmente utilizzabili. la zona è tranquilla nonostante le apparenze, ed è vicina al lungofiume, il centro è facilmente raggiungibile a piedi.

Jag besökt Bilbao för en konferens o möte. Denna hostel va bra! Det blev mycket att gå men service och hjälp va allt man kan önskar. En hostel, relativt låg pris men det hade allt jag behövd.

The place INSIDE. It’s ok. The rooms are super tiny and old but clean. The receptionist is super nice and friendly BUT: it is a HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, FRIGHTENING neighborhood!!!!! We went back in before dark because it is SO SCARY. Then, it was drug and prostitution activity all night long. With noisy explicit voices, Even gun shots. Not for kids!!!!!!! Never been in a place like this in my life. ( and I am 60 years old )
I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place..
The ONLY good thing of the whole experience was the lady at the front desk. Kind, helpful, sweet and professional. I felt for her to have to deal with the rest of the facility.
