Location was perfect for us - on the river right next to the Old Town. Everything was walkable for us.
Room was more spacious than expected and was clean and comfortable.
The reception staff were really friendly and helpful.
The breakfast at under 10€ was a bargain.

The room and parking were basic and adrquate, clean. Staff were helpful. For an economy roomi think it was alittl over priced. The no frill breakfast was not worth the money.
The single elongate pillow was not practical, the air conditioning was good but you could not turn it on when needed. I do realise that such resource have to carefully used, or at least have an opportunity to do so.After breakfast the air con worked, just prior to leaving.

People were very very good and were very accommodating to us whenever we needed anything. The breakfast that they served was excellent. It was a very good amount of food and it was very good quality. It helped us start the day off on a good foot. Also, when we needed a parking spot for our last day, they went out of their way to make it easy for us. All in all, it was an excellent place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (after a slight mixup with our reservation, the problem was quickly resolved to our satisfaction) Our room, which had a lovely view over the river and the local neighbourhood, was perfectly suited to our needs. The hotel is well located on the river within easy walking distance of both the Guggenheim and the old town. Highly recommended.

Great location, between Old Town and the Guggenheim. Comfortable room with very good A/C. One complaint about bathroom: no towel rack,even though the hotel had one of those signs that asked you to place a used towel on the rack if you did not want the towel to be laundered. One other thing: I was told at check-in that breakfast was included, but the bill had breakfast as a separate charge. It did not make a big difference, though,because I think the total per night charge was similar to what I paid on hotels.com. Would stay here again.

In a great location. Next to the Town Hall and without walking distance of the Old Town and the Guggenheim.
We had a modern room with a lovely up to date bathroom.
The breakfast was substantial with fresh orange juice, something we did not get in a 4* hotel in Valencia.
The staff were all helpful and we have nothing negative to say about our stay.
In fact we regret not finding this hotel sooner as we stayed in a 2* hotel in the old town for 2 nights at the beginning of our weeks holiday before transferring to San Sebastian and then returning to Bilbao and it was not as good.

We had an incredible stay! The service was amazing! We got in pretty late at night without having had any dinner and Itzi at the reception made us a few sandwiches! I’ve never experienced this level of service and caring before! The location of the hotel was perfect and it was also very clean. We couldn’t have asked for more! 10 out of 10!

We stayed only one night and I can say only good things about the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, very nice and friendly service, the location was perfect for our purpose - 15 minutes drive from the airport and 5 minutes walking from the most interesting sightseeing landmarks. I can only recommend the place. If I come to Bilbao for a longer stay next time, I will for sure choose the same hotel.

The building is centrally located next to the town hall and on the bank of the river. The tram station is nearby on the other side of the river providing access to all the main areas including the Guggenheim Museum. The building is old but the inside has been redone (I was hoping the inside was old as well). The rooms are small but we had a nice view of the river below. The front staff was friendly, helpful, and spoke perfect english. We stayed one night and it served us well.

Sleepless night in Bilbao

It started off on the wrong foot. When checking in I asked if I had a room with a nice view as I had requested. The receptionist sneered at me and said NO! You booked through hotels.com so you get what you pay for. Our room was level with the street behind the hotel. When we returned from dinner, the a/c didn’t work and the room was warm so we opened the window. It was so noisy we couldn’t sleep. I went down to ask for a fan which the didn’t have and the hotel was full so they couldn’t move us. It was the most unpleasant experience and poor night of sleep. The next day the manager was very nice but couldn’t really do anything for us because we booked through the internet. Finally he agreed to cover the cost of our ride to the airport.

I think if you get the right room, and if you don’t need any service from the hotel, all else should fall into place.

Bilbao by far exceeded our expectations, a lovely city with plenty to see and do for a few days.
The hotel was central and near the river. The room was clean and quite modern, the view was poor though, facing a brick wall with a picture painted on it. We were loaned free bicycles which was a great boost.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They gave us a lot of information about Bilbao and allowed us to store our suitcases for free after we checked out. The room was nice and clean. Our room was very quiet (our room was at the back, unsure how quiet rooms at the front would be).
The only down side was the weird long single pillow on the bed ... very uncomfortable and there aren’t any others provided.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Bilbao

We had a brilliant time whilst staying at the Bilbao Plaza Hotel, the room was modern and clean and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. It was so well located, with all major attractions within a 5 minute walk, including; the Guggenheim, Bilbao 'Old Town', La Ribera Market and the Casco Viejo Metro station. I'd recommend this to anyone on a city break in Bilbao.

Very convenient location for a visit to the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum. Parking was limited, but hotel staff was very helpful. Room was super clean and modern. CONS: only one (very hard) pillow, toilet paper was low and there was no extra provided, bathroom sink did not drain well so dirty water pooled. However, for the price at this location, recommend this hotel despite drawbacks described.

Clean. No carpets. Cheap wall construction, as any time a door closes, the bed headboard vibrates resoundingly. This is disturbing in the mornings when trying to sleep. Staff helpful and cooperative except a mr. Ibon at the desk, who (lazily) didn't want to assist in obtaining a blanket, saying: \"you don't need one, it's summer\". (!) Breakfast decent. Good location next to river, except windows give onto blank wall, not the river. Overall ok.

We checked in very late for a one-night stay in a double-twin room. It was clean and comfortable. The night clerk was very nice and allowed us a late check-out. We had breakfast sent to our room and they provided a nice selection of continental fare and coffee. The day clerk was cheerful and stored our bags so that we could take the 15 minute walk to see the tower. I would stay there again.

Perfect location with a great room with a terrace - only downside was the weather was so bad we couldn't sit outside! Old Town was 10 minutes walk one way with the Guggenheim 10 minuets the other way and a 10 minute walk from the airport bus stop. It is also a 30 minute walk to the main sports stadium in town (we were there for the rugby)

A lovely hotel on the river a few minutes walk from the Old Town one way and 15 mins walk to the Guggenheim the other way. A very comfortable modern room with plenty of space and a comfy bed. Clean, good lighting, lots of trees to look at (in spring time they had leaves on and were pretty), with friendly reception staff. Lift for getting luggage to my room and stairs with enviro-friendly lighting for walking back down again. There was a bar, but I didn't use it. Very close to all places I wanted and needed to go.

Hotel was very good value in an excellent position for both the museums and old town. Although it was
basic the shower and heating was great and we had a river view at no extra cost. Its position meant we had easy access to bus, metro and tram which is a real bonus if you like to travel further afield. Restaurants in Old Town were a easy 10 min stroll. Recommended wilthout hesitation.

Nice hotel but your neighbors could be noisy

The construction of the wood floors mean that you might hear the people above you clomping around in their shoes, etc. Also, you'll hear people in the hall. Presumably, the people below you will hear you. Good windows seem to keep out street & traffic noise.

Minimal, but OK, furnishings. One long tube pillow for the bed, which might or might not work for you. Shelves, instead of dresser. Very clean. The automated light system means that when you open the door, you'll be in the dark until the motion sensor kicks in.

Comfy hotel positioned in between old and new town by the river. Some modern comforts missing though like USB charging sockets but that’s being picky.

Breakfast is not exciting so only do it if you need to eat before 09:00 as nothing else is open until then.

Left luggage is available but insecure.

Recommended as a good value hotel.

Picked this hotel because of its location and it didn't disappoint. Easy access to the Old Town and to transport links. We picked an Executive Room with river views and a balcony - would recommend this to appreciate Bilbao at its finest. Hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good too. Ideal for short break in Bilbao

Ideally located - under 10 minutes walk to nearest supermarket; the old town and Guggenheim (in the other direction). You are also close to a metro station and from there can visit the transporter bridge and beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a room with a terrace; I enjoyed sitting out there when the sun shined. Great view over the river. Bed was comfy but my preference on booking was for twin beds and none of the rooms with terrace have twin beds so why offer this as potential? We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay again if returning to Bilbao.

This place was a wonderful find. Great location close to the Jewish Quarter and sbout a 10 minute walk to the Guggenheim and to Plaza Muoya. Clean rooms, separate toilet but not much privacy when showering, its just a glass door (I don't remember if it was tinted), that opens to the sink/vanity area. It's okay if traveling as a couple, but not so if with a friend. Will stay at this hotel again if I go back to Bilbao.

Great hotel very close to the action

Me and my partner had the most wonderful trip in Bilbao.
The hotel was in walking distance to everything and always easy to relocate due to it's riverside location and was able to see most of the town and its main locations the four days we were there and already have plans of returning in the near future.
Though many locals seemed to speak good basic english, I would advice anyone to learn some Spanish and/or Basque.

Not worth price charged

Nothing really to fault, except location which was a bit out of the way for such a small city, and the cost, not worth the nearly $140 per night for a very compact room.

Good central position

My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel Bilbao Plaza. We opted for one of the more expensive rooms on top floor. The design was very minimalistic but very clean, a decent size, with a large terrace/balcony giving good views up and down the river and across the city. There was an espresso machine with this room. Only very slight 'downs' - no hooks in bathroom; the shower (in bath) had rather awkward controls to differentiate 'tween bath/overhead spray/hand held spray - but over all that it was scrupulously clean. An added extra step out & into bedroom from terrace would have been helpful.
All the receptionist staff were very pleasant and helpful. The underground car park was appreciated; although it was quite expensive it was worth it because city parking looked very difficult. We would certainly choose this hotel again if were to return to Bilbao.
