Staff very nice. Room was huge with a great shower. We had booked the double room and the bed was a king size! Shower was great. No conditioner provided if you use that. Breakfast was a huge selection. Very worth the €. Location was walkable and ideal. Would definitely stay again.

This was a perfect hotel for our three night stay. The location was ideal. We upgraded to a room with a view which provides a reading spot in the window overlooking the river. There was a glitch in our check in which the staff completely remedied and offered a nice snack delivered to our room. The room had amenities such as large quality bath towels, hairdryer, room safe and mini refrigerator. The bathroom had shower gel, shampoo and lotion. The breakfast buffet was beautiful and included some Basque specialties.

I want to make it very clear why I made the decision to leave the hotel.
My decision is based on one simple but fundamental reason: I was lied to, and in my book, that is unforgivable. The truth —no matter how uncomfortable— will always be better than a lie of this magnitude.
During my stay, the hotel’s air conditioning system was not working and, as I later found out, it had already been out of service for several days before my arrival. In the past, I’ve received communications from the team notifying me of situations such as construction work or noise. This time, however, all I received was a welcome email —with no mention whatsoever of such a significant issue.
I was allowed to check in without any warning about the situation. Once inside the room —and after completing the check-in— I was told that “the air broke down that morning.”
This is not, as we say in English, kosher; quite the opposite, it smells bad.
When my wife called to express our frustration, they handed me the phone, and again, they insisted on the same story. As a “solution,” they offered me a portable AC unit, which didn’t work correcly. I actually have a similar one in my apartment in Paris due to the city’s restrictions on fixed installations, so I’m well aware of their limitations.
The lie became obvious in two moments:
The person who brought the portable AC told me the air had been out for several days.
A neighbor on the same floor confirmed exactly the same thing shortly afterward.

A perfect base for exploring Bilbao with the Guggenheim, city centre and old town all within 10 minutes walk. Really comfortable hotel, contemporary design and very friendly staff. Parking is a bit tight but easy to find. Highly recommend staying here!

We stayed here briefly, just for a night, before our flight. The hotel was very centrally located, minutes from the Guggenheim, so perfect for a quick stop in Bilbao. The staff was super helpful with recommendations and very polished. My only gripe was that the AC didn’t work well, but the windows do open so we were comfortable.

Rooms were a little small, not much storage, especially for 2 large suitcases, which had to stay on floor and we had to walk over them to get to door. I’m not keen on open plan bathrooms which this had, but we knew that when booking.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. We got a bigger room with a welcome dessert which was appreciated. The bathroom smells very bad though… it’s not dirty so we think it’s because the property is older (the bathroom shows some signs of chipping and stains that just can’t get off). We were only there for a short stay and we were super tired so didn’t bother asking for a different room (we opened the window and sprayed some perfume in the bathroom and that helped a lot) although I don’t doubt the staff would totally find a different room for us if we asked. Every staff we encountered was super friendly.

We were offered a river-view from for an extra 20 euros and having turned that down it almost felt as if we were being punished by having a room with one velux window in the eaves.
Be aware that unless you arrive at the hotel on the riverside road driving South there is nowhere to pull in and the car park isn't obvious. We ended up parking on the street first and then checking in, fortunately we didn't get a ticket. If you have a large car you're going to hate the car park which is very tight especially if you need to get down to the second level.
On the plus side the beds are comfortable and the rooms have plenty of space and storage.

I think this is a great hotel at a reasonable price.
It is within walking distance of so many sights with buses and trains a couple of minutes walk away if you prefer to ride.
The staff is very nice, there is a bar with a nice selection of food and drinks.
We were able to park our rental car in the park garage @ 26€ per day.
It was great to be able to come back to our room and enjoy the air conditioning after being out in the heat all afternoon exploring the city.

Location was adjacent to Rio Nervion and the pedestrian bridge for quick access into Bilbao. We arrived early from an overnight flight from the U.S., and the front desk staff were able to accommodate us with an upgrade (small fee) to a larger suite so we could get some sleep! Room was well appointed and the breakfast was very nice.

Overall I would say the stay was just average and acceptable. I don’t think it is quite worth the price and we were underwhelmed by the general standard of all facilities. The room was tired, the black out curtain ripped and hanging off, black mould on the window surround. The bathroom was dark and dated also. Breakfast was underwhelming, a big choice but not of a very high quality or anything particularly special. Staff friendly, room quiet and comfortable. Check in slow. Well located for Guggenheim and walkable to old town.

Great location but room a bit tight

The room type I stayed in was very cozy. I would only recommend it for solo travel as space was tight. There wasn't any space on the floor to open my medium hard-side luggage. I had it set on the cushioned bench as that was the only area other than the bed which I could open my suitcase. The room is comfortable though showing some signs of age and wear and tear. I did notice it was quite dusty when I first entered and I found a dead insect on the washroom floor (it blended in with the dark tiles). Other than that, I had a nice stay here. The lobby offers water and some candies to all guests at the entrance. The area is nice and quiet. Bilbao is very walkable and I would say this hotel is well-situated right in the middle of everything. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Guggenheim (also the meeting spot for some guided day trips/ tours) and just a slightly longer walk to Casco Viejo (old town). Overall, it was good stay for solo travel.

Our only issue was the temperature! The room was so hot we struggled to sleep - we were advised they don't have air con over winter periods so there was nothing that could be done. A shame as otherwise it was lovely.

My family and I always enjoy staying at the Hesperia in Bilbao. The staff are friendly, it’s clean and safe. The Hesperia is located near Old Town and the Guggenheim, with tons of great restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping and parks. The train is across the bridge as well making it an ideal location to stay.

Property is facing the river and the promenade, which is a nice aspect of the city. The hotel is across the water from the Guggenheim in Bilbao, and the stunning Zubizari bridge is directly outside the hotel. The rooms could be a bit better maintained as noticeable damage to the walls (scuff marks that need painting over) and the wood paneling (suitcases clearly knicked the wood paneling in my room), and the toilet paper holders are installed at 8 degree angle for some reason. Dust bunnies behind the mini refrigerator could also be tended to as well. Please consider providing more outlets in the room for guests, as it was difficult to find an outlet for the iron. Also, please consider putting regular ironing boards in the rooms as the small ones provided to guests are insufficient.

Hotel was nice and mostly clean, my room did feel out of maintenance, carpet had stains all over or broken, paint in walls had spots, didn’t feel very clean, found facial hairs on the glasses in the washroom.

The room smelled like cigarette a lot, I had to ask for them to change for a room and they only air it up which made the stink go mostly away.

The place was 10 min walk distance to the Guggenheim same for most core areas. Staff were nice.

I loved the location, right across from the Ria Nervia and the park that runs along it. Great views from the fun, colorful rooms. Even if you didn't have a room facing the park, it'd be a great location because you just cross the street and sit in the park.
