Didn’t appear to be any heating throughout. Our room had a portable radiator. Black mould around the bath tiles. Shower head needed descaling. All a bit tired looking. Tv wasn’t connected to internet. Disappointed with the valentine menu choices and we could only get a table at 6pm even though residents. Breakfast on the second morning took 45 minutes. There was obviously an issue as no food was coming out from the kitchen at all during this time.

Not enough resident car spaces and additional spaces was a muddy grass field ☹️☹️. We had heard good things but something has clearly gone wrong.

Staff were friendly and helpful but everything just felt a bit odd.

Great bar area with good beers and nice staff.
Lovely room (though bed a bit softer than I’d really like), plenty of space & spotless.
Bathroom - large so would benefit from a small table or shelf for putting your washbag on.

Small bottle of welcome homemade rhubarb vodka supplied in the room which was much appreciated!
Easy free parking.

Dinner was excellent and our server, Annie, was fabulous. We both had the beef burger which was a fabulous lump of meat. Highly recommended.

Another trip for work and was recommended the ‘Dabbling Duck’…
However I’m really unsure as to why!
The outside and location is good, plenty of parking on the common area outside.
Inside your straight into the bar, which has a cozy country feel. I checked in and was shown to my room. A triple bed setup which was ok, apart from the poor location of the TV, this was mounted to the wall blocked by the bed rails so you’d have to stand to watch it unobstructed.
The bathroom was ok, however the shower controls didn’t work very well and I couldn’t turn down the heat without the fear of breaking the controls.
Went down for my booked table, and service was ok, very friendly waitress saw to me for the evening.
That’s unfortunately where the good bits end.. the menu is for the want of a better word ‘random’
I can eat pretty much anything and like many cuisines but this was very much not for everyone.
I struggled with a choice and ended up with a Malaysian beef curry, which to be honest was pretty bland and unseasoned.
I chose the cheese board for desert and this again was very different to every other I’ve had.

Had a wonderful stay at The Dabbling Duck. Our room was lovely and clean with a great view of the Village Green. The staff, who were extremely busy serving Sunday lunch were very polite and helpful. We had a booking in the restaurant, where the food was amazing, as was the breakfast. Over all, this is a stunning place to stay and chill, absolutely loved it, 10/10.

Dog friendly in all areas.

Spent two night at the quirky Dabbling Duck, location in a pretty village is ideal for walking and exploring the area by car. The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Room was small but there was a mixup at booking so on arrival we had to be allocated a different room as we had a dog. DD is super dog friendly and they are welcomed in all areas. Food is very good with plenty of variety, breakfast is hearty and all dietary requirements are catered for.

Excellent village pub with great staff and atmosphere that matches its surroundings and in keeping with good old inn values. The chef provides a great variety of flavors and quality dishes all served hot and on hot plates.
The stairs are somewhat challenging for the elderly and mobility impaired. I didn’t realize when booking that I could have requested a ground floor room. My bad - should have read the small print. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Comparison stays after 2 year gap

Second visit after a 2 year gap. We didn't think that the general standard was as good. Breakfast, help yourself choices, relied more on dried fruit. The 'main course' choices were just as good though. We stayed in the 'pigeon' room (No 7) which was right next to the children's play area and the army of very noisy kids (thanks to their parents) easily penetrated the double glazing and shutters of our room.

Probably our fault for booking a stay in the school holidays. Made the most of using the DD as a base and 'DID' a lot of N. Norfolk. Evening meals as good as usual.

The Dabbling Duck set in a beautiful little village fulfilled our expectations of a relaxing night away. The menu choice in the restaurant was excellent and the staff delightful. Our dog Polly was made to feel very welcome with a dog bed, water bowl and a few treats.

If you eat in the restaurant try and get a table inside the restaurant and not in the bar area as this was quite noisy.

Stayed for two nights. Free parking onsite was available. The room was up 10 narrow steep steps so we decided to leave the suitcases in the car. The room (5) overlooked the village green and church. The room was very small but had a little lobby area and a small bathroom. The Internet coverage was poor to our room. The bed was comfortable. There is a very nice looking restaurant which serves a variety of meals, mostly meat based. There was very little vegetarian choice. I didn’t feel I had to give warning as it’s not uncommon these days but maybe I will in the future. We were told on arrival that booking through Hotels.com meant breakfast wasn’t included but if the booking is made direct with the hotel it would be. Breakfast was a meagre buffet offering (£8.50), coffee is extra, or there was a more expensive menu option. There is a lovely tearoom opposite the hotel which opens at 9am and they have a wide range of breakfasts at a reasonable cost!

It's a very busy pub so quite noisy. The food is good, but the room we had was very small and cluttered with a radiator (which could have been put away in the cupboard) and a large fan. The biggest problem was that there was no internet and the management attitude was - \"Well it is North Norfolk!\" Which is not really acceptable in 2025.

We would love to stay again, really enjoyed it. Room was comfortable, dinner & breakfast both relaxed and beautifully cooked. Dog freindly, so was great for us. The space is understandibly put aside mostly for diners with tables set up, but the bar area could really do with being larger and more comfy seating. Posh, obnoxious kids took over in the bar which was annoying, but that is not the establishments fault.

The Dabbling Duck exceeded our expectations in all respects. We were shown into our beautiful room in the house adjacent to the inn. The room was spacious and comfortable with a large sofa as well as king size bed. Our en suite bathroom was bigger than many hotel rooms we have stayed in and far more luxuriously appointed. Dinner in the inn was great - excellent service and good choices and breakfast also first class. The location was good for visiting nearby National Trust and English Heritage places as well as the North Norfolk coast.

Carpet in the hall up to room very dirty and cleaner said she could not scrub it, because of what it was made of. I thought a bit impractical if that was the case. The rest of the place was spotless. The food was excellent. Area and atmosphere great. I would definitely return.

Lovely little 'hidden' gem

Very friendly welcome, given a quick tour of the property, then shown to our room which was a lovely double with a view across the Green to the church. Small bottle of
Homemade vodka was a nice touch and a pleasant nightcap.
We had breakfast and an evening meal there, both excellent. There is also an outdoor wood fired pizza option at weekends, which also was excellent.
We had a lovely stay. The village is pretty and you are only 20-30 mins from the coast and several other local attractions. We would highly recommend.

The location, atmosphere in the pub, staff friendliness and service was wonderful. Our room was a bit tight (family room only one left so booked so that we could each have a bed) with no room for baggage but realise to squeeze a double and single into a room in an old building would always be a challenge. Breakfast was delicious (although would love a muesli or granola that wasn't so sweet) when it came but a huge wait. Evening meal was delicious. Would definitely stay again though if passing through.

Excellent from beginning to end. Lovely location and pretty village. Team without exception friendly and helpful throughout. Food good both evening meal and breakfast. Also good choice of drinks. Room good well decorated clean and comfortable. We're in room 1 and probably would benefit from black out curtains although likely less of an issue most of summer so far!! Other than curtains nothing to fault would definitely stay there again and recommend.

This place is a top find. Welcome was first class, room was beautifully presented and lovely extra touches. Home made vodka and Molten Brown toiletries. We were booked in for dinner but after sitting in the garden and enjoying the early evening sun we opted for pizza in the barn. Delicious pizzas and good vibe. We didn’t have breakfast but went on a wonderful circular walk, followed by coffee in the bar before we made our way home.

Bedroom was lovely and reasonably clean but on closer inspection you can see it needs a deep clean of the doors & skirting boards/ floors. Would still stay again as it wasn’t a deal breaker and great food.

Just spent 3 wonderful days at this gem in Norfolk countryside. So much attention to detail with meal taste and presentation, rooms tastefully equipped (along with complimentary nightcap!!) and most welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Just wish we were here for summer with pizza nights on a Friday and Saturday held in a very tastefully rustic barn and beer garden. We can thoroughly recommend this wonderful quiet location!

Our suite was amazing, we even had a little sitting room! The only problem was the bed was too hard & no light available to put my makeup on. Needed a large mirror above the dressing table as well as the magnifying mirror please. The chef was amazing and cooked especially for my food allergies which was wonderful. The table service was faultless, I had such high praise for them all. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The Dabbling Duck was excellent throughout and the staff are so friendly and although very busy they always found time to talk with guests. It’s obvious there are good chefs here as the quality of food is very good. I would recommend the garden rooms - the only problem we had was a shower head that was loose and leaking causing water pooling in bathroom which didn’t unduly affect our stay - Steve and Sandra Gregory

Another comfy stay at the Dabbling Duck

We have stayed before, this time we stayed in room 7, Pigeon, which is an outside room. We stayed two nights, we found the staff very friendly as always, and the food was great quality. We had breakfast both mornings, lunch one day and dinner the other. Room was comfy and clean, with a very nice big bathroom. The only thing we were disappointed at was the reduction in sofas and relaxing areas near the bar since our last visit, which has been turned over to dining. Totally understand this, it's a business after all! But reduces/eliminates comfy space for residents to relax. There are some in the Barn, but that was in use for a private function Saturday night.

Everything was spot on. Couple of very minor issues with the room on check in, both resolved speedily with the team being so very attentive, which was so refreshing that they cared and took personal responsibility.
Food was very good as was service. Frankly couldn't really fault it and a very attractive village location rounding off the whole experience very favourably.
