The room itself was basic but a good size, a little dated but definitely worth the money. Very clean and great location
I left my bags there while I went exploring on my last day and needed to rearrange things before going off to the airport so stopped in reception to quickly do this. One of the receptionists was quite rude to me and shouted at me as I left and said thank you. The man with her had checked me out in the morning and knew I was back for my bag, but it's definitely put me off from staying again

As an International traveller, Hygiene is my greatest concern. Hostal San Gines gets an A+++ for diligent Heath&Safety standards, fire escapes and smoke detection well maintained, rooms in spotless Hygiene condition. Bright and cheerful surroundings are welcoming.

We were given are keys room 211 tucked away from the corridor stairs room was of good size plenty of hangers pleanty of storage .

The Hostal is not wheelchair accessible, there are no lifts, just stairs. Hand/shower gel in pumps by sink and shower, hairdriin bathroom, towel, sheets provided. Small pullout desk and two chairs for laptop use or writing. Kettle in room, cups downstairs in kitchen area, shared kitchen area to heat or prepare food. Hostal surrounded by plenty of eating places, good variety of choice. Situated in an area easy reach to local public transport, bus station 10min walk, shopping mall 15min walk, 15-20min walk to the beach. Friendly, approachable, helpful staff.

The staff was super helpful, we were able to leave our luggage before check in. Nice location, close to shops and promenade. However, we had a problem with a lack of hot water in the bathroom (on one or two occasions, there was no hot water at all so we had to take showers in a cold water which wasn't very pleasant experience).

Para ser un hostal está bien, pero si lo valoras como hotel le pondría un 5. Los huéspedes son descuidados con la limpieza de la cocina. La habitación está muy limpia. La cama es cómoda. La ubicación es buena porque está muy cerca del charco de San Ginés pero da una sensación de no mucha seguridad. El personal es muy amable. El baño es muy pequeño y no hay manera físicamente posible de no tocar la desagradable cortina de la ducha. No hay ascensor. Puertas antiguas. Poca seguridad y que no se calla la carva

Best value hostel in Arrecife
I arranged last minute trip to Arrecife, and booked this hostel based on reviews and the keen price. I consider I made the best VFM choice. The Hostel staff were very welcoming and it was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and I was allocated a room with private, rather than shared bathroom. The bathroom was very compact, but everything worked perfectly and again spotlessly clean.the towels were much thicker than I expected. There is a Fridge and kettle in the room and you have access/use of a kitchenette, if you wish to cook your own food. The Hostel is very convenient for the town / harbour area (2min walk) but a little distance from the bus station(s)

A bit dissappointing one...
It could have been a really nice stay in a nicely and conveniently located hostel but... my bad luck started on a day of arrival - as check-in starts at 1pm and I have arrived for 2pm my room was not ready and had to wait until about 4pm to get into my room... Room was made tidy and clean but don't be fooled by the pictures used to advertise the hotel - there was no welcoming bottle of wine/water, not even any cups or glasses you could use for your own drink (there was a kettle though ;). instead of personal toiletries - one shower gel dispenser on the wall... But it was not that important - the worst was that it has been advertised that hostel runs daily housekeeping and my room has not been visited through all my stay there (7 nights). The bin has not been emptied, towels not changed :( Happily I have chosen double room for a single use so half of my stay I have used one set of towels and slept in one bed, then moved to another ;) As the bin was just one - I had to leave it a bit overflowing... and the most important thing - happily there was enough toilet paper on a roll!!! ;) After those inconveniences - noise and slamming doors (mentioned also in other reviews) were really just nothing ;) So I think my overall experience is turning towards rather a negative one...
Ahh.. And to not to paint everything in just black - WiFi router was in my room so at least internet was reliable and fast ;)

Fab little place in the heart of Arrecife
Fantastic hostel in the heart of Arrecife. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It is more like a 2* or 3* hotel than a hostel, but has a fab shared kitchen guests can use. The location is great- right on the marina-with loads of cafes and restaurants less than a minute away. We were in room 304, and it got a bit noisy first thing in the morning with the cleaners starting their rounds, and loading washing machines etc, so ask for a lower floor if noise bothers you. However, that said, it's cheap, pleasant and friendly, and I would definitely stay again as it it so convenient.

Right at the heart of the action, only moments from the front and the beach. The staff were friendly and the roof terrace is even more fantastic than it looks in the photo's. The WIFI worked well and allowed me to stream BBC iPlayer. If you want them to they will organise bus trips and even have some bikes for hire. There are no catering facilities in the room but guests have access to a full size kitchen on the ground floor and shops bars and coffee shops are only a few steps away. They also printed my return boarding passes for me.

Excellent centrally located hostel in Arrecife
A very friendly, value for money, conveniently located hostel in the heart of Arrecife. Room was of a good quality, and shared bathrooms were always available to use. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Due to the nature / construction of the building and the road outside it can be a little noisy at times but overall value for money is excellent.

La habitacion dejaba mucho que desear. Las puertas y paredes parecian de papel, se oia todo lo que pasaba en el pasillo y en habitaciones cercanas, lo cual hacia muy dificil el descanso. Dejaron solamente dos toallas (ni toalla de mano ni alfombra) y solamente un rollo de papel para 4 dias…
Por parte del personal de recepcion habia siempre bastante desinteres, parecia que estaban en su casa con amigos y familiares haciendo sus cosas y con cero interes en los huéspedes.
Desde luego no repetiria. El alojamiento es economico si, pero no llega a los estandares minimos en mi opinion.

No vuelvo a quedarme más allí aunque sea un hostal con buena ubicación y bastante aparcamiento alrededor las habitaciones son con muy muy mala calidad muchísima humedad no puedes estar con las ventanas cerradas porque la misma humedad te ahoga nos tuvieron que cambiar de habitación porque el aire no funcionaba y la humedad era insoportable en las paredes y en el ambiente y nos daba miedo dormir con ventanas abiertas pero esque no podíamos con el olor

Habitación con telarañas colgando del techo sobre una de las camas. Lleno de polvo. Tuvimos que pedir que limpiaran de nuevo al hacer el check-in. Aún así, el espejo de la habitación, muebles, puertas y esquinas se veía que hacía muchísimo tiempo que no se limpiaban. Uno de los colchones deberían tirarlo directamente. Lamentablemente, de las 3 noches que teníamos pagadas, solo pudimos quedarnos una ya que el lugar no está en condiciones de quedarse mucho más. Las fotos no corresponden con la habitación. Le hace falta una buena mano de pintura. Marcas de dedos negros sobre la pared. Al salir, sabiendo que nos íbamos antes, no se interesaron ni en preguntar qué había pasado. Le explicamos todo y no pudieron rebatir ni una sola palabra. Ni siquiera se ofrecieron a compensarnos de alguna manera. Una simple limpieza extra, que viendo lo que habían limpiado en la primera, no hubiera servido de mucho. Esta triste experiencia no ha costado dos noches extra en otro lugar.

Somos conscientes de hasta dónde se le puede exigir a un hostal de este nivel, y ni siquiera iba a escribir una reseña; pero el tema de las chinches ha sido el detonante, ya que se eximen de cualquier tipo de responsabilidad, cuando las pruebas son claras.
En el hospital nos confirmaron que las picaduras fueron provocadas por chinches de cama. No hemos dormido en ningún otro sitio durante las vacaciones. Amigos con los que compartimos el viaje —y que no se alojaban allí— no han tenido ninguno de estos síntomas.
Solo espero que no le vuelva a pasar a nadie más.

Klar es ist eine Budget Unterkunft, aber dafür mehr als in Ordnung.
Mein Zimmer war immer sauber, und auch wenn es ziemlich hellhörig war, war es nie zu laut.
Als Base für Unternehmungen auf der Insel ist die Unterkunft mehr als soldie.
Das Personal war stets freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Die Lage ist großartig, in den angrenzenden Lokalen am Charco de San Gines kann man den Abend super ausklingen lassen (Besonders das Restaurant Chapo kann ich zu später Stunde empfehlen)
Auch die angrenzenden Straßen haben ihren eigenen Charm
Im großen und ganzen kann ich die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen.

L’Hostal San Gines è situato in un’ottima posizione perché è vicinissimo a El Charco (una splendida e caratteristica laguna), a 15 min. a piedi dalla spiaggia de El Reducto e a 10, sempre a piedi, dalla stazione principale degli autobus che conducono in tutta l’isola. Molto consigliato dunque a chi decide di non noleggiare l’auto.
Ha una terrazza con mobili da esterno e un tetto panoramico. Al piano terra una cucina condivisa fornita di tutto l’occorrente.
Il personale è molto gentile ed accogliente.
Essendo in un edificio antico, non è dotato di ascensore, ma ha solo tre piani e pur con valigia da 20 kg, con un po’ di fatica, ce la si fa.
Ha una terrazza con mobili da esterno e un tetto panoramico. Al piano terra una cucina condivisa fornita di tutto l’occorrente.
