I had a great experience at Matiz. The hotel is simple but very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, and while the internet was just \"ok\" (could be a bit faster), it got the job done.
What truly set this stay apart was the incredible service. I realized upon arrival that I had accidentally made my Expedia reservation for the wrong date. Instead of turning me away, the staff identified the issue immediately and accommodated me for the correct dates without any hassle. They are an amazing team that clearly puts the guest first. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place with helpful staff, I highly recommend Matiz.

I needed to use my internet plan, and the worst point was that the air conditioning device was pointed directly to the bed, which was a little annoying. Sadly, the swing function was not working. So, I let it turned on until I went to sleep and woke up a few times to turn it in and on again. Kind of tiring business.

My first time visiting Brazil from the US: Very friendly and helpful staff, who spoke English where my Portuguese was lacking. Everything was great except that I did not bring my own shampoo and conditioner, and the front desk did not have any to give me or sell to me. Also the toilets say not to put trash into them, but does that include toilet paper? (Yes, that includes toilet paper)

I booked here because it was within walking distance (about 2 km, a bit more than a mile) to the University of Campinas campus where I attended a conference. The front desk staff were multilingual, helpful, and competent. The breakfast (included with the room) was very good-wide selection of Brazilian and American foods, good service, adequate seating.) Rooms were clean and comfortable. If the main noise I noticed when the window was open was a rooster in a yard some distance away, I guess it qualifies as quiet. The pool area was good for relaxing. There are may restaurants and stores within walking distance. Overall, the Matiz Barao Geraldo was one of the better hotels I have stayed in during visits to Brazil.

this is the second time I stayed in this year, a few years apart and the first impression from years ago has not changed: the hotel is clean and comfortable (although their plumbing has issues) however the staff is not one to make you wish to go back. They were reasonably ok, but clearly untrusting (not smiling , watching like hawks that nobody who isn;t supposed to enters the breakfast area etc). This is also the second time that my room was entered and cleaned (and things moved) although I had a \"do not disturb\" sign on the door. When mentioned at the front desk they made it look like they don;t understand my english - interrestingly enough when I said that I am not particularly pleased about this, that it now happened a second time and it's enough reason for me not to stay here again-- all of a sudden his english was completely fine and it was like a switched turned on to be try to be super friendly (of course it didn't come across being genuine...) At check out it took forever to issue receipts for the 4 espressos and a water and when I wanted a receipt for the 2 rooms I had booked on expedia he wouldn't give me one saying that the expedia one was enough.... (you would have thought that they would have made the espressos complimentary as an apology..

OK no-frills hotel -- don't count on pool or gym
Stayed here for a conference at UNICAMP. Relatively close (15-25 walk) to university, restaurants, bars, etc. Everything was merely OK. It should be noted that breakfast is expensive and not particularly good, the pool is super small, and the gym is not on the premises (it was a pretty nice full gym, but was a 15-min walk from the hotel)

The hotel is very convenient for those who have business with the University of Campinas. It is also a short taxi ride away from the Parque Dom Pedro which is a large shopping mall. The staff is also very helpful with providing information around the area. This was my second stay, and this place formerly had a different hotel chain name. Pronounce the name of Hotel Matiz as \"mah-cheez\" or no one will know what you are saying. \"Barão Geraldo\" is the name of the whole neighborhood. The desk staff is fluent in English and helped me quite a bit by ordering cabs and telling the driver the details of where I was going. Be sure to tell the desk if you need to use a credit card for cabs.

Há 10 anos, costumava me hospedar neste hotel e tinha uma boa experiência. A questão é que aparentemente ele não é renovado desde essa época. A limpeza no quarto estava boa, porém as paredes sujas e precisando de uma boa pintura, somado aos rejuntes envelhecidos no banheiro deram uma impressão de decadência para o hotel que influenciou nossa experiência neste passeio. As toalhas de banho estavam surradas e não haviam toalhas de rosto. Apenas opção de TV aberta no quarto, sem smart TV. Isolamento acústico nos quartos bastante ruim, dava para ouvir a TV do outro quarto. Não voltaria antes de uma bela repaginação no hotel.

Fiquei de 5ª às 23 hrs até segunda meio dia. Meu quarto ficou sem arrumação no sábado e domingo. O café da manhã é beeeem simples. Pedi para fazer um ovo frito e o rapaz me respondeu que não poderia ser feito MAS que poderiam fazer um ovo mexido ? Pois é, tbm não consegui entender. Pedi no café da manhã uma coca coca e o rapaz novamente me respondeu que EU teria que ir até a recepção para pegar na geladeira. De resto, quarto é espaçoso, ar condicionado funciona super bem a cama e roupa de cama são “ok”. Eu prefiro não voltar e não indicar. Acho que vale arriscar em algum outro.

Cheguei e não tinha toalha de rosto no banheiro. Peguei na recepção sem problemas. Fui sozinha e me colocaram num quarto com 3 camas de casal, meio apertado. O quarto é antigo, estava limpo, o ar condicionado funciona bem, o chuveiro é ótimo, mas a porta do banheiro esta quebrando. A TV não é smart, só tem os canais abertos, e eles não fornecem sequer um cabo para conexão. O wifi no quarto é muito ruim, cai toda hora, tentei trabalhar mas não tinha como. Achei bem silencioso. o café da manhã é gostoso e completo, horário bacana. Piscina boa, porém não aquecida e não estava muito limpa. Na noite de sábado cheguei por volta das 4h da manhã e a recepção estava VAZIA, não vi ninguém, achei bem estranho. No dia seguinte pedi um lanche por aplicativo, e novamente não tinha ninguém na recepção, o motoboy deixou o lanche no balcão e foi embora, e o lanche ficou lá uns 15 minutos até eu dar falta... Um dos motivos de escolher hotel ao invés de airbnb é a segurança de ter uma portaria, uma recepção. Não vi nenhum segurança em todo momento que fiquei, e na recepção não fica ninguém. Eu não gostei da estadia e não recomendo.
