Set amid parkland with its illustrious history and contemporary renovation, Winstanley House is the place to be. As a boutique hotel, luxury venue and home to Black Iron, a contemporary British steakhouse and restaurant, we enjoy welcoming guests through our doors to create memories they’ll never forget.
The venue is a Grade II Listed Georgian house located just outside of Leicester City Centre with 19 stunning bedrooms, two elegant ballrooms, a modern British restaurant, private dining room and beautiful terraces all set in 168 acres of rolling public parkland. Rooms are located in to two areas.
The original Georgian manor where rooms are accessed via the grand staircase; while the area around an enclosed courtyard offers access by both lift and stairs. Please advise the hotel in advance if you require lift access.
Our ballrooms and kitchens are able to entertain over 500 guests, and our 19 rooms offer luxurious stays after busy days. Please note that only couples who have their weddings at Winstanley house are permitted on site in bridal wear.
At the hotel, rooms include a desk, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. The rooms at Winstanley House have air conditioning and a wardrobe.
The accommodation also offers a terrace with a covered area providing shade from both sun and showers, perfect for alfresco drinks with friends. We also have 4 EV pay per charge units at the side of the property, situated in our complimentary car park; able to accommodate up to 150 vehicles.

More lighting and grit in the car park would be good too. Because of the event on at the time, it was quite a full car park. Being on my own walking through the dark, slippy car park, I didn't feel the most comfortable. More lighting over signage would be helpful to guide around the car park too.

Booked a junior suite for my son and his girlfriend as a treat on Christmas Day as they were visiting from another city. They loved the room and the breakfast too! They sent me videos of both, and the room looked clean and fresh and the breakfast was Full English and eggs Benedict with cups of tea in cute teacups. You drive through a park to get to this hotel. If you are driving at night or low visibility, beware of the speed humps! The markings have worn away and they are brutal! Drive extra slowly.

Our room was very clean but there were a few marks on the wall and carpet including an iron mark, and the window frames had a few black marks from condensation which could have been wiped off. The mattress also had a dip in the middle and could do with replacing as we rolled into the middle several times!
Overall a great stay; the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable and the food, particularly at breakfast, was of high quality.

The stay at the Winstanley hotel was the worse hotel experience we have ever had. We went to sleep then were woken up at midnight by hammering and banging. It was like being in a building site. I went to reception to be told they were carrying out work in the kitchen. I told them it had to stop. The receptionist went to the kitchen and came back swinging a hammer and told me there would be no more noise he had taken the hammer off them ! We could still hear things being moved about and people talking. We got no sleep. We left early in the morning before reception opened. I have e mailed and complained and asked for a full refund. The guest services manager has told me that guest services were not aware of the work being carried out and we will get a refund. Nothing yet !

Also probably chose the wrong night to stay with a lively wedding going on but I suspect that will be a common experience staying here and probably the hotel is not a best bet for a quiet evening.

I really loved the hotel and my room, however the bed was really uncomfortable. The mattress was really lumpy and sank in on both sides so I didn't have a great nights sleep, hence for the low score. On-site parking was also great and was one of the reasons I picked the hotel.

We stay on our way to Peak District and choose to do a park run in the morning. The park run is in the same park which is 1 minute outside which is amazing. The front desk staff is excellent, when we check the time of breakfast, they told the kitchen to make sure wait us to get our breakfast- in the end we back on time but still very caring service.

A strange system of room servicing whereby they would leave clean towels on the dirty carpet floor outside the door each morning. Policy was not to service the room until 3rd night for green reasons but a cost cutting exercice.
STAFF were generally unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. There were countless examples of interactions that left us suprised, from poor check-in to terrible service at breakfast. One morning,we were told to vacate the breakfast room so that they could set up for another event. However, we were still within 7am to 10am breakfast service period. On the weekend, they would not serve Lunch and there was no alternative to eat. We had to drive to the city centre.
SERVICE was generally poor throughout the stay. I heard staff make numerous disparaging comments about guest. They seemed poorly trained with little to no supervision or visible management.

ROOMS were shabby and not worthy of the boutique hotel price charged. There was a strange smell in the corridors and rooms akin to urine and disinfectant. The bathroom was cheap, poorly install and smelled of damp as a result of poor extraction.
CLEANLINESS was at the bottom of the to-do list of this hotel. Generally untidy and dirty throughout. A strange system of room servicing whereby they would leave clean towels on the dirty carpet floor outside the door each morning. Policy was not to service the room until 3rd night for green reasons but a cost cutting exercice.
STAFF were generally unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. There were countless examples of interactions that left us suprised, from poor check-in to terrible service at breakfast. One morning,we were told to vacate the breakfast room so that they could set up for another event. However, we were still within 7am to 10am breakfast service period. I stayed one night for a business trip. The hotel is lovely, really nice decor. The staff are all fantastic, very professional & friendly. I ate in the restaurant - the steak was delicious & the bar is a lovely place to sit & relax, the barman makes a great Cosmopolitan. The only downside for me was the memory foam mattress I found a bit hard as I'm used to a softer one at home but I will definitely stay there again

BEWARE - I booked double dulex room. They gave me a tiny room with barley any space to walk. Nothing dulex about it. This is the SECOND time this has happened. It’s a shame as Winstanly is a great place with great views and walk. Staff are externally friendly because, They are giving you a rubbish room

The room was filthy. The coffee machine was absolutely dirty. The door handles were clearly not wiped properly as someone else’s booger was on there. Noisy neighbours who partied till 3am even after complaining. Had the worst sleep. Pillows were like rocks. And when I went to complain I had a very rude receptionist who spoke to me like I was below him.

Amazing hotel, lovely kind and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble. Our T.V didn’t work properly. So the gentleman moved us rooms. Which ended up being an upgrade to a bigger room. Which was amazing. Breakfast was amazing. We will be back.

What I loved about this unique Hotel was the grand drive through the park grounds. The standard of the Hotel was the Best, keeping to the original as much as possible and bringing modern together as needed.

Honestly, I could not say enough positive comments about this incredible hotel. 10/10 for EVERYTHING!!! The room was huge, comfortable, luxurious & spotlessly clean. The guy on reception was a delight (I wish I got his name).

We had a beautiful stay in a gorgeous room and the breakfast was amazing! The only thing I could say is that there was no lift on our side of the building so while it was okay for us staying the single night, for anyone with a disability or any elderly people etc it may be difficult to get anywhere further than the 2nd floor.
Overall it was a fantastic stay and I'd highly recommend it!

I was happy to find this hotel remained open to business travellers during lockdown. It is situated in the middle of a park, and is stunning both inside and out. The room was beautifully furnished and the en-suite was lovely. There was no room service available during lockdown, which I thought would be ok when I booked, but it actually became quite tricky, particularly without a fridge in the room to keep purchased food chilled. The wifi didn’t work. I mentioned it to staff but it wasn’t resolved. Fortunately I had my hot-spot but the hotel may want to sort this out for future guests (particularly if travelling with wifi-dependent youngsters!)
There is no lift in the main building, which is fine if you’re fit and healthy - which I’m not!! I was carrying quite heavy luggage and confess to struggling a bit when I was towards the top of the 54 stairs! There is a lift on the other side of the hotel, so it is accessible to all.

Surprisingly lovely old manor house hotel. Dinner was wonderful. The room was lovely, but I feel entitled to be a bit picky for £109 - it needed a soap tray or something in the shower, and somewhere to hang a towel, a desk to put things on in the room and better sound proofing. The corridor light shone under the poorly-fitting door all night, and creaky floorboards meant people going to bed later disturbed my sleep. In the morning breakfast service was meant to start at 7am, but my breakfast finally arrived at 7.40, and it was wrong. I had a meeting to get to in the city by 8.15 and didn't have time to wait for what I had requested. The three people on the other table gave up waiting and walked out before theirs arrived. I'd have been a bit less desperate if the waiter was attentive and was able to bring me some coffee while I was waiting but he was nowhere to be seen and when he did appear the coffee machine was painfully slow. The checkout process was a bit laborious. What you don't need when you are about to be late for a meeting is the card machine to have a hissy fit. I just made it to my appointment on time, flustered and hungry. Shame because it would not take much to fix these things.

Arrived at the hotel and had trouble parking as the hotel was hosting a function. Had a bit too much of a walk with luggage as a result. Check in was swift, room was beautiful and fully equipped with toiletries and drinks. We wanted room service but discovered the phone in the room had no dialling tone so had to ring from mobile. The room service options were limited to three for each course and a £10 surcharge was added to the bill for delivery - the food was excellent quality. Breakfast and service was 100%. A lovely relaxing hotel. Enjoyed a stroll in the park after breakfast which was lovely too. Would recommend and stay again.

Gorgeous place and rooms are lovely. Great night’s sleep and big bathroom with good quality toiletries. Receptionist on arrival was friendly and helpful. Couple of niggles- no shower cap or sewing kit in room( not that needed sewing kit but if they say included then should be); heating system was great the night of arrival but come the morning it was on cool and despite settings being the same as previous night with temp set to 23 degrees the room would not heat up. No staff at breakfast room when arrived so had to find. No bowls or plates on buffet table so had to ask. Friendly, helpful staff but service was slow.

Stayed here as a change from normal hotel on Leicester. Location is a bit out of the way but this makes for a quite location. The room was smaller than expected and hot with no windows that opened. More positively the evening meal was very good along with great service from the staff.

Location is very unique on middle of a park, beautiful place for lunch, dinner&/or a stay. Lovely bar & free parking on site. uber into city centre is £7-9. Breakfast choice is good& complimentary - we stayed in room 302 & it was very quiet. There was a draft from old wood window - bed & pillow comfy - nespresso machine, iron/board/hairdryer in room - shower was wonderful - big shampoo/gel in shower area. High ceiling - number of room lighting options. Restaurant has bar menu ( light bites) which is good. Free WIFI

It was a nice hotel with lovely staff, however I had been called a couple of days prior to let me know there would be a function on Friday night but that the noise would be finished by midnight and there would be no noise Saturday morning.
Unfortunately there was an Indian wedding on the Saturday morning, which isn't the hotel's fault, but I feel like I should have been told. There was noise from before 8.00 am. We were placed in a room directly above the function which totally spoiled the weekend for us. The staff were nice and this was our only complaint but I was not happy at paying £100 and not being told.

Booked for a night before visiting the Space Centre. The room was comfortable, if a little on the small side with an awful view of a roof. We reported a few niggles to reception when we checked out. Beautifully furnished and appointed hotel, with a young, eager - to - help staff. Quality of food and drink was excellent, and good value for money. On the hottest days of the century, the effecrive and quiet air conditioning was much appreciated!

Eg, our breakfast buffet on day one was sparse - limited cereals, no milk for cereals, or sugar, no yoghurts - because there was a big wedding party on at the same time. And, given the small bar, which can get overcrowded when wedding guests are arriving, how about making it clear the reception area is an extension of the bar, and having a little more seating and menus there?
These are small details, though, attention to which would elevate the hotel from four to five star.

And then no hot drink offered, or provided when asked for. The whole place is geared up for wedding photos. Everything is made to look pretty in a picture. But nothing actually works.
