Great location! Hotel is walking distance to pretty much everything in the city. Initial rooms we checked in was very noisy and we quickly got moved to different room, which we appreciated.

Room was lovely but was over £1300 for 2 nights so you expect it to be, Coffee and Tea facilities could be better, no labels to tell you which coffee pod was which for the machine so opted for a normal coffee only to find there was no normal coffee, only caffiene free.
Shower blocked 1st use, had to lay around 8 towels to soak up the flood in the bathroom, informed reception straight away at 9.50am , came back to relax at 3.30pm and make use of the gorgeous bath only to find no-one had been in to replace towels or clean up , very annoyed as this meant we couldnt make use of the bath at all as we were waiting for this to be sorted. Only other issue is breakfast takes far too long, booked in at 10am , had to wait until 10.25 and still nothing , Had to cancel our breakfast due to train time. So overall, not really the best service condiering the price paid.

The staff were absolutely amazing; friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. One thing to note - soom rooms require the use of stairs, so if you mobility issues, it's worth checking with the hotel in advance to ensure a more accessible option. You know when you walk into a hotel room and see a portable oscillating fan, a closed window and no thermostat for either cooling or heat you're in for a poor experience. My room was so uncomfortably hot it was hard to sleep. My friend was placed in an attic room whose ceiling was so low she could touch it. Her room, on the fifth floor, had no elevator access and only a tight circular staircase whose metal banister cut her thumb badly. To be charged $268 with no forewarning of either an unchangeably airless room or a room on a fifth floor with no elevator access that is fit only for hobbits is unconscionable and inexcusable. I don’t know what Marriott was thinking when it decided to fold this hotel into its collection… There is a big difference between the charm of a well-kept old hotel and an old hotel that I guess is getting by just because of its location. I will say that my bathroom was recently modernized, had great storage and was clean.

We booked a King Room at Abbey Hotel Bath through Expedia, advertised with proper in-room air conditioning. Instead, we were first placed in a basement room with no AC at all. After complaining, we were moved to a smaller standard room with only a portable unit venting through the window. It was noisy, ineffective, and nothing like what was promised.
This was misleading advertising. Expedia showed photos and descriptions of King Rooms with AC, yet we were downgraded and left uncomfortable. What made it worse is that Expedia offered no real help when we reported the issue. Both the hotel and Expedia failed to deliver what was advertised, and our trip was ruined. Guests should be cautious—what you see on Expedia may not be what you get.

Stayed in room 001which we were pleasantly surprised was a very dog friendly room. Provided with a dog bed, bowl and a private, secure courtyard area for our pup to explore (and use) safely.

The hotel cancelled my room abruptly on the same day because of maintenance issues with the room, and refused to provide assistance with getting to another hotel. I was left totally confused with the entire situation. The hotel receptionist Maria was rude and arrogant and was not at all empathetic with the situation even though the hotel was the one who created the entire situation by kicking us out of our reservation on the same day. Thankfully Expedia was helpful with getting us compensation.

The first room assigned did not have air conditioning the second room was in the basement next to a high school prom that kept my son and I up until 1 am. My parents room had twin sheets on a king bed so they could not get a good nights sleep missing remote and very loud with people parting all night long. Parking does not exist Southgate car park is much further away than advertised traffic around the hotel is terrible. Hotel was pricier definitely not worth the money the location when there was great however

For the exorbitant price I expected much better. It is important to know this is an historic property with multiple buildings and you may have to walk outdoors in weather to get to your building/to the main dining etc. Also with old buildings come musty smells. Our room absolutely reeked of mildew and even the linens felt damp. It was in a basement with very little natural light. When I complained of the intense mildew smell I was offered a smaller room/smaller bed/cheaper rate, but that’s not why we booked this hotel. No discount was offered for the inconvenience and irritation of the odor. The room was comfy and generally clean overall. Strange art was of all women whose faces had been scratched out or covered in paint. Odd vibes. The breakfast was only mid-level. Frozen fruit defrosted, tesco-like bread and pastries. Just very basic for £24 and I’ve had better at small hotels. Not at all what I expected at Marriott Bonvoy. I don’t think I would stay here again. Not for the price and average service. Though it is very well located.
