The room was tired, sofa was shiny, make of that what you like, and other than a new looking carpet it was filthy. I went to turn on the heater and it was literally greasy and caked in dust and dirt. I considered not staying and continuing my journey but was too tired, thankfully the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Keep looking..

Ok it’s a budget hotel. I have stayed before very often had no problems till this stay. Stayed in room 6. Every time you flushed the toilet water entered the bathroom floor. Toilet was not fitted at all to the floor. Woke up on the last night by hearing a knawing noise. Investigated to find noise was under the bed I can’t say if it was a rat or mouse but it was fast. Light stayed on for the rest of the night.

The hotel was not as expected. The room did not match the photos shown online and was unclean. There was mold on the bathroom wall and blood stains on the bed, which made the room unacceptable. Due to the condition of the room, we decided to leave immediately after check-in and did not stay at the hotel. We informed the front desk at the time of checkout that we were leaving because of the cleanliness issues. Additionally, the hotel’s location was not suitable for our needs.

Very dated furnishings that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. When arriving in room the windows were left wide open to try disguise the smell. It was 4°c and took 2 hours to warm the room up. Couldn’t get the smell out of the bathroom at all. And there was a dirty shower curtain around the bath. Requested a different room and were told no.

Booked 2 rooms, only used 1 because the smell was disgusting in room 18. The room we used (23) was dirty with vomit on the walls. The fan was filthy, bugs in light fitting, furniture in need of replacing. It was noisy from Indian restaurant next door. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress should be discarded immediately. The key for the door kept getting stuck. We cut short a 2 night stay and will never return. For a budget hotel I still expect a good standard of clealiness.

Fireworks and partying until 2am on a Sunday night. Absolutely disgraceful, but only one contact number at reception worked. When I spoke to the person in charge they said they would speak with the restaurant but the noise, so people outside the hotel roaming about setting fireworks off continued until 2am.

Did the job, but wouldn’t return

The room had a fusty smell from the moment I arrived. It’s clear this used to be a Travelodge and has only had a basic quick-fix renovation. The bed was clean and comfortable, so at least I got a decent sleep. However, there was a wet patch on the floor that never dried, which was odd and off-putting.

Would I stay again? No. Did it do the job for one night? Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend it for longer stays.

For the price i paid, it was what i expected, However my main issue as as follows.

Upon booking via the hotels website i was notified i would need to contact the hotel if i was arriving after 10pm, i would be coming from a festival so i message through the hotels site and no answer so rang the number provided and was put to a generic help line who had to give me another number. I was then told to call on the day around 6pm (not sure why it had to be on the day when i was giving them notice 5 days in advance)....Ever way as said i was at a festival and was struggling to call, in the end my girlfriend had to call up and get the details for me.

On top of this i feel the place needs a little referb as some things put me off...

- Being able to just stroll into an unattended hotel with no lock of keypad on the main door.

- No lock on the inside of my room (i did need a physical key but sometimes you want that extra lock.

- pre existing tape on the door peep hole was a little worrying.

- Marks and bits of paint missing all over the room as well as stains on the bed frames.

- I was also unsure if the bed was broken or if the mattress was memory foam as i sank into it on any movement, so at first it was hard to get comfortable but it did the job.

Was an ok hotel , somewhere to sleep . There was a couple of things that could improve the hotel . There was only 4 plugs in the room which happen to be the other side of room . So either need an extension lead or move the plugs closer to the bed , so tv was plugged in one , heater 2nd plug, kettle 3rd and last one we had to charge our phones, but taking turns. Also the tv , i know you may think moaning about the size. Yes was nice having large tv ,however it literally just about fitted on desk it blocked the mirror so if you wanted to sit at desk to dry your hair or do your make up you would either have to put tv on floor or use the bathrokm mirror and had to plug kettle in the only small space left which was behind the tv . Which was quite dangerous 1. The bath was either dirty or marked to the point my daughter wouldn't use it and waited till she got home to shower . And would benefit your guest to maybe have a little fridge in rooms especially if they are staying a couple of days in the hotter months ,to keep drinks cold. Like i said was an ok hotel for the price , if i had to mark it out of 10 , i would say hotel is a 7

Brown marks on bedding & water leaking into room

Dear Hotels.com
We arrived at the OYO Sunrise Hotel A46 N Leicester on Thursday afternoon, we was given the keys for room 25 as soon as we opened the door and went inside water started to drop onto our heads as water was running through the smoke alarm on the ceiling.
We checked out the rest of the room and discovered brown marks on the pillows protectors and other brown marks on the mattress.
How can you expect someone to stay in a room that is leaking water and the bedding has brown marks on them.
We went down stairs to the reception and reported the problems, the receptionist did not offer us another room.
The receptionist said that we would have to get in touch with Hotels.com to sort out any problems.
I showed the receptionist the pictures of the Water leak and the Brown marks on the bedding.

Room acceptable and not too noisy as it was on the side away from the dual carriageway. Bedding clean, as was bathroom, except on the back of the door. Single bed mattresses made me feel like I would slide off them onto the floor so put them onto the floor - still very uncomfortable, unfortunately. Still, reasonable value for the price.

Like a hotel from a Tarantino film.
Had to change 1st room as it had very obviously been recently smoked in.
Bed, decor, fittings and pretty much everything else was very tired although the linen was clean.
The worst thing is a lack of security as the room door would not lock from the inside and there is no staff after 10pm with the main entrance fully open.

1. There was no one at the reception when we arrived. We had to wait and we kept ringing bell
2. Two adults were booked but only one towel was there in the room
3. Towels were stinking of some food. May be fish oil kind of smell
4. We paid for wifi but there was no internet. The connectivity was really bad.
It spoiled out new years eve.
I would expect some kind of consation.

The property was quite dated but it was functional, clean, reasonably priced and the staff friendly and helpful. I visited when the temperature was around freezing, and the heating was off in the room when I arrived. The small heater took a few hours to heat the room to an acceptable temperature.
There is an Indian restaurant next door and EV chargers (2x250kw and 2x22kw).

My room was cancelled without me knowing. I had to try and find another hotel at 10pm and arrange transportation to this hotel. It cost a fortune. I was assured by the manager of OYO I would not be charged for the room they cancelled. I have been charged. I will be taking them to small claims court.

I think this hotel has got a bad reputation from previous reviews but I think you have to contextualise the market that they target. Clearly it is a budget option and the standards obviously mirror this. Could it be better? Yes of course, but then it would be more expensive. I felt it was very convenient for staying the night after a festival I attended, it had everything and more than I needed e.g. clean sheets, warm heater, excellent fast WiFi, TV, clean bathroom/ toiletries, TV and coffee/tea facilities etc so what more do you need? It also had free and convenient parking. The only major downside was that they don't have anyone on the front desk after 10pm so you have to ring ahead and arrange for a pin number to open a key box. I was fortunate enough to be forward thinking on this so managed to avoid being locked out of my room. Also they wont give you a pin code until 8pm, which meant they had to text me the pin number prior to arriving which made me paranoid that they were going to forget as the system isn't automated and only becasue I'd rung up. My advice to the hotel would be have someone always on front desk so you can check in without worry of being locked out. Other than that is was very good and zi would return.

We stayed one night - does what is says and what you pay, room was clean and basic we had a family room with 3beds.
If you want a place to sleep in a convienient location to Leicester/ Loughborough then it is fine, a little tired but if it was brand new the price would reflect that.
Next door to a very popular Indian restaurant but we did not have time to try .
