Location is lovely, breakfast was good. We were in a superior room in newer part. Room was noce and big, shower etc was good. But mattress was VERY soft/knackered. And the TV had no remote, so went to turn on at TV, and it didn't even have a power lead.
Parking good also.

Although I asked for a walk in shower the bathroom had a glass frontage to the bedroom. Yes there was some opaque bands but privacy was at a minimum!

The food was okay in the evening but the service was extremely slow!

This hotel is very tired and showing its age - it is a shame as the room I had was large with a large bathroom but the furniture is very old and scuffed. There was a Roman blind on my window that was broken so I couldn’t open it - obvious signs of water damage around the window and windowsill.

My bedding and towels were clean and the bed was fairly comfortable

I booked a twin room but it was made up as a double so had to get this changed. Requested a walk in shower but got a shower room with glass walls! Staying with my 90 year old mother so was not happy with this.

Hotel looked lovely from outside but inside decor was very bland and boring. Gardens had not been yended to and grass not cut.

Having informed the hotel i was staying with my 90 yo mother and requested a downstairs room they put us at the far end of the hotel so we to walk a ling way. They also failed to say they had a lift!

All windows were dirty.

Disabled parking spaces were inadequate as no yellow hatching to open doors wide. 3 spaces should inly have been one. Bushes also in the way.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate although plates cold.

Overall expensive.

Rooms were fine , beds nice , food poor, waitied for ages for anyone to come to the bar, a good 15 mins, then food cake out ok, the breakfast was poor, sausages undercooked, potato burned and had to ask for coffee, and other bits .
Food was not ready for breakfast which was ok , but quality of food really let it down .
Staff were nice though and tried hard to help

The room wasn’t properly cleaned , dust on the bedside cabinets , bathroom floor not clean , couldn’t get the tv to work and no instructions, the water coming out of the taps was brown .
There were no other guests in the whole hotel yet we couldn’t book a standard room . Very disappointed this time . This was a return visit as we thought it was a lovely place last time . I don’t think we would return .

Ample parking, friendly reception staff, a very dated hotel, disabled stairlift out of action between reception and bar / restaurant area. Room 109, 24” TV, remote control battery cover gaffer taped up, pixelated picture, reception notified, they changed the co-ax cable and handset, but no real improvement in picture quality. Bedside light did not work, bulb replaced by staff, still didn’t work, so given a freestanding bedside light. Bathroom radiator didn’t work, and couldn’t be turned on, both sink and bath plugs, rubber type, discoloured, as pop up wastes were missing, bathroom extractor fan covered in dust. Restaurant staff overworked, 1 member of staff, trying to setup for a business function as well as trying to keep up with refilling cooked breakfast items. Tablecloths not changed when table had been reset, baked bean sauce stains on the tablecloth. and napkins missing from the table. Definitely wouldn’t return.

Hotel very dated, TV signal wasn’t good for the first 10 minutes, staff blamed weather & rural setting but it worked after approx 10 minutes. Unable to have a shower due to hot water scolding & unable to adjust on the shower & also mould around the bath / shower which could have been removed. Overall a poor experience.

We booked a suite for 4 people, however there was a problem with the shower, so they offered us 2 twin joined rooms. They discovered the problem with good notice to inform us before we arrived which was very appreciated.
The room was clean and simple although dated and a little tired.
Staff were all lovely. We requested an ironing board and iron and champagne flutes which were promptly delivered by the helpful staff. It did however take several attempts at calling down to reception before someone came to the phone.

Baked breakfast goods and cereals were basic and simple, yet fresh. There was an option for a cooked breakfast also, which a couple of our party opted for, which was hot, tasty and came promptly. We were the only guests in the dining hall when we came down.

The grounds were lovely, and there is a beautiful oak staircase inside which makes for good photos.

Would stay again, but I think it was slightly over priced, for what it was.

Outside hotel looked okay. Plenty of free parking. However, it didn't appear to be particularly busy for a Friday evening.
One member of staff on duty at reception who was pleasant and welcoming. Explained everything we needed to know.
The room was at the very back of the hotel, which seemed deserted. There was a corner of the corridor which had carpet missing & two partly unfolded \"old type\" hospital screens hiding nothing in particular. To our right was a large function room with a few tables set for a meal in the furthest reaches of the room.
The bedroom was large & furnished at an acceptable level. On entering there was a strong chlorine-like smell which eventually became a strong smell similar to paint. The room was clean. The walls looked almost like new. Painted white, we think that the room may have recently been redecorated, altho' we never enquired. However, the odour caused both myself and my wife to suffer terrible congestion and catarrhal problems which caused sleep disturbance, particularly for me, as I ended up having no sleep from 4am onwards due to continual clearing of catarrh from nose, sinuses and lungs.
The carpet in the room seemed to have a yellow to brown staining, some darker areas than others around the bed (my wife suggested it looked like a urine stain).
We were surprised to discover that the bathroom had a transparent glass wall and door facing the bed & ground floor window. There was no blind or frosted glass to obscure a person on the toilet.

I arrived pretty late and I was the last one to check in, the lady who assisted me was polite and helpful. My room was smart and warm. By the way parking was a breeze, didn't struggle to get space. Slept well and the hot full English breakfast was a delight to have. Place is cosy, warm, clean and has exceptional staff. 10 out of 10...

Cons: Mattress was collapsed in the middle, I slept half the night on the floor, other half with pillows under the mattress. ALL doors had aggressive springs and no sound softening so they all slammed with a bang(ours slammed even when closed it carefully).

Lost for Words..!

Stayed at the hotel as part of a large wedding party where they were getting married nearby… with limited choices of hotels in the area with the size and apparent 8.8 / 10 rating we thought this was a safe option however we have left extremely disappointed.

With it being the hottest day of the year on record, checking into our room, window was on restrictors (which we managed to undo after googling the product) and our black out thick blind was broken in the down position therefore getting no air flow. Receptionist was helpful when we called, providing us a desk fan and a make shift solution to get the blind open by wrapping the broken cord round it. No further rooms were available for our stay, not because they were fully booked but they ‘hadn’t been cleaned’!

Room was dusty with the phone looking like it’s not been cleaned in years… bathroom was clean however toilet seat cover missing. Warning it is also a big glass box in the room with well placed manifestation for privacy…

Throughout the hotel there were signs of major refurbishment required and also building work taking place with a huge hole in the ceiling and flooring missing randomly.

Communal male toilets hadn’t been cleaned between Saturday evening and Sunday upon checkout which personally is a huge red flag..!

We never complain however we wanted to share this experience and would urge hotels.com to consider their listing on the website as we left extremely dissatisfied especially given the cost.!

The hotel room was large, but we ended up in an accessible room which had glass walls to the bathroom, with only thin frosted strips, meaning very little privacy. The mattress was also really poor offering very little support with no air con (on one of the hottest weeks of the year). The carpets were also really stained and it just generally felt like it needed a good clean and refresh.

The room was pleasant, but the glass door between the bedroom and the toilet and shower area was odd and rather off putting. The bed was comfortable, and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was adequate, but the cereal, and other cold buffet items were uninspiring. All in all, a bit dull, particularly since a refurbishment was done in 2019. Ok for a night or two though.

It’s sad really as this hotel is beautiful and the rooms nice but it could be so much better. The room was set up for one person despite telling them it was for two. At first we had no remote for the TV and then the remote provided didn’t work and the other room we booked that remote didn’t work either. The staff are great though and the grounds are lovely plus they have facilities to charge EVs which is essential these days. The rooms still have no air conditioning or even fans so the room does get hot, the windows can be opened but as we were on the ground floor posed a security risk and can be noisy. Overall lovely hotel but needs some uplifting.

Im not to happy to be honest. The sheet when i pulled back the quilt had blood stains it was washed but the stains where still visible. The tv didn't work. I was moved to another room witch was better But i could turn on the tv then managed to by the button then the remote didn't work. Twice i went to the desk for another remote they didn't work in the end they found one that did work. The glass wall to the bathroom was filthy the mirror in the bathroom was filthy Next day as i went to leave i was stopped at the desk saying my card was declined but no one let me know while i was there embarrassing when there's people around you that turned out to be a fault with the booking in system. I ordered a medium rare stake witch was over cooked. Whilst i was in the restaurant to to that of in the next room with big doors there was a karaoke going on witch was very loud. All in all im not at all happy and will not be returning

Had stayed at this hotel about 6 years ago, but found it has become very tired since. The bedding and towels were of a nice quality but the bedroom furniture and bathroom could do with some attention. (Crack in sink, broken toilet roll holder and dodgy toilet flush) TV did not work, and despite raising with reception was not rectified. Breakfast buffet poor and cooked breakfast limited. We ate in the restaurant on our first night, and despite being the only diners, waited 10 mins for the waiter to produce a menu, which was the only one and needed to be shared between our party of 4. Once the food arrived, it was well cooked. We stayed for 2 nights and requested that the room be serviced on day 2, this didn’t happen. Very disappointed in our ‘executive’ room and unfortunately won’t be returning.

In general staff treated arriving guests as an interruption to their conversations.
Room with many faults - some lights no functioning, shower fittings broken, sink plug not functioning, toilet seat broken, mould in bath/ shower area, no effective a/c and windows unable to be opened for ventilation.
This facility is obviously well past its prime and clearly poorly managed by staff who really don’t care.
