I've been fortunate to visit Prague on many occasions; it's a city I'll never tire of. I prefer to stay a little out of the centre, happy to rely on what must rank as one of the very best integrated public transport systems in Europe (and very good value)
This was my first stay at U Divadla, but I hope it won't be my last: There is a warmth of welcome from all the staff and a pride in keeping the place as inviting as possible. The breakfast is superb!
Only minor grumble (for me) is that the pillows are far too big!

Wonderful Stay with Thoughtful Touches and Great Service

We had a very positive experience during our stay. The hotel offered free parking, which was a big plus, even though it was about a 300-meter walk from the accommodation. The nearest tram station was also conveniently located, just a 5–8 minute walk away, making it easy to get around.

The room was clean and well-maintained, with a nice complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us — a thoughtful touch we really appreciated. Since we visited in the summer, we were pleasantly surprised to find a fan already set up in the room, which made our stay much more comfortable.

Breakfast was a highlight — fresh, varied, and delicious, a great way to start the day. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive, which really added to the overall experience.

Highly recommend this place for a comfortable, well-serviced stay with nice little extras that make a difference!

The hotel staff very welcoming and friendly, comfy beds and a great shower. Good selection for breakfast and plenty of options for all tastes. Location not too bad - just over a 5 min walk to the tram…and cheaper as out of town. However what lets the place down is that the area is noisy and therefore you can’t leave windows open to cool the rooms (no aircon) and the curtains do not fully cover the windows, letting light in…with the room getting light from 5:30am

Traditional-style hotel which is ideal for a short break. 20 minute tram ride to city centre. Very clean, with great breakfast choices. Staff were extremely helpful - the guys are possibly the nicest hotel reception staff I've come across - and I've done a fair bit of travelling.

Nice budget hotel that can use improvement

The hotel is an old building located in a residential area. It has a bus stop and tram stop close by. There are two good restaurants within walking distance and we enjoyed eating there. There is no A/C in the rooms so if it hot, there is a fan in the room you can use. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary and it can be improved a lot. We asked for ice and we were told the restaurant did not have an ice machine. Parking is extra and at a walking distance. We had a rental car and parked in the street next to the hotel without any issues.

This hotel has very big rooms for European standards. It was a quick tram ride into all the city attractions, about 30min but very convenient. The water temperature was finicky however, it varied between scorching hot and cold. Otherwise the stay was lovey. The gentleman who worked at the reception was also very helpful throughout. Would definitely recommend for future tourists.

PROS: reasonably good quality hotel, the girl on reception when I arrived was kind and helpful, the breakfast variety and range was quite good, the hotel and room were warm (with freezing cold weather outside).

CONS: people moving around in room above sounded like they were coming through the ceiling, I tried 2 different rooms, and both the same = terribly noisy, the worst hotel ever for this, and disturbed sleep.
Bedroom quite small, The breakfast member of staff made a big scene in front of everyone at breakfast that she couldn't find me on her list (as I had changed rooms due to the noise from above). She could have been a lot more discreet about it, but instead chose to make a big situation out of it in front of lots of other guests.

Fantastic hotel, food and staff.

Fantastic hotel in terms of comfort, cleanliness and staff services ( David the desk manager is a real asset to the hotel). Free breakfast was a highlight. Only 100m from bus stop and a 5 minute walk to the tram station meaning you are into the city centre within 20 minutes. Great 3 course lunch for around £6-7. Highly recommended. Some may not like the location as it is not in the city centre but locals are very friendly and the price and transport system made it ideal for us.

It was a great experience. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had an early flight and arrived around 9AM. All I wanted was to have my luggage stored somewhere and I would come back later; the clerk on duty made arrangement and gave me a room right away. On the second day, I realized I forgot to bring my USB charger; the clerk at the reception lent me one, for which I was so grateful. The location of the hotel is okay, it takes about 10 minutes' walk to get to a tram stop and another 20 minutes to get to Old Town. The hotel itself has some history, but they keep it in a decent shape and adequately clean.

Location: Very easily accessed by public transport. Tram stop is 7 minutes walk from the hotel and the bus stop is 2 minutes walk from the hotel.

Reception: Reception staff is available 24 hours. They were all fluent in English and very helpful. My flight arrived in Prague at 10:00 PM and the reception staff was good enough to arrange a taxi to pick me up at the airport. You can also buy your transport tickets for bus/tram etc from the reception.

Room: We were a family of 4. There is no airconditioning in the room, So it was a bit hot and humid as the outside temperation was around 25 deg. centi. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There is no kettle or telephone in the room.

Breakfast: The breakfast options were great and the kids were especially happy with the dessert options.

I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was not what I had expected from pictures.

When we reached hotel I was disappointed as the area which it was located was not as what I had expected.(location was not great). There was no wireless internet in the rooms.

I stayed here because of the proximity to the business I was visiting. I was originally concerned as it is located away from the main centre, however it was fine for my two day stay. Friendly staff, reasonable breakfast & although I did not have an evening meal there, I am told the food is good. The room offered an Austrian twin style double. No air-con in the room. Not a problem in April! 15 minute bus ride into the centre. Overall very good value for money

Good hotel

The staff are very friendly and the room was comfortable. We were above the kitchen area which meant during the day we could hear the washing machines which also made the floor vibrate.
We booked a double room but got two singles pushed together although that didn't affect our sleep.
The included breakfast has a huge selection of food and was from 7 to 10.30 so we didn't have to rush.

We enjoyed staying in the hotel. The hotel had good selection of continental cold and hot breakfast, the hard pillows had been replaced for us on demand. We didn't use the hotel restaurant in the evening so we cannot say. The only minor drawback we experienced was the deliveries to the next door shop could be noisy when the window was open.

Great hotel. The hotel located in the residential area. Only 15 minutes tram ride to the city center. The hotel is well maintained and has the excellent personnel.Complimentary breakfast was very good All our requirements were addressed immediately.The only negative experience we had with shuttle services. We order taxi ride to and from the airport through the hotel and were overcharged both times, the price we paid was much higher than advertised. other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel. Great value for the money!

Staff was great and breakfast doesn't get any better! The details on the website is not what we found when we got there. No wifi in the rooms and no 24 hr room service. Location was a 10 min taxi ride, however, next time we'll use that taxi money to stay in Prague 1 where you could walk everywhere.

Clean facilities throughout. Room quiet. Nice buffet breakfast. Very helpful night desk clerk. Difficulty in finding hotel from tram as some streets do not have signs to identify, including street of hotel. Information in room stated evening dining hours but when we planned for that we found it was closed in the evening. Fortunately there was a pub with nice food (but loud music and smoking) across the street. Requested a room for 4 people, but the accommodations for it were poor. Room was made for 2 people and a portable double bed had been placed in front of the closet area. Portable was VERY unstable and uncomfortable. Very little room to maneuver in room because of it.

The hotel itself was great, art deco style, shabby chic which we love. too hot though with no air conditioning - but the windows opened wide which did help. no tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast was always a surprise - not used to broccoli that early in the day. The staff were great and we hope to go back again in the near future.

This hotel was chosen for its price. Given that we did not have expectations but were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very nice. The building was old, but fun. Our room was a decent size, the bathroom was small but functional. The shower is quite small, a larger sized person might find it very small.
The breakfast was good with a nice variety.
The restaurant/bar closes early by like 8 pm the night we were there.
The neighborhood didn't have anything to speak of, it didn't feel dangerous or anything there just wasn't much to see or do.
The hotel is a little ways from the sights but the bus stop is 1.5 blocks away and from there 1 stop to the tram. Very easy to navigate.

Nice hotel and great staff!

We really did enjoy at the Hotel U Divadla. The hotel was inexpensive and the service was very good. The rooms are fairly comfortable and clean. I would next time request a room in the back to avoid the street noise which still was not too bad. The staffers at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is one of the largest continental breakfast spreads I have seen anywhere and was very good. Travel from the hotel into town was easy and inexpensive. Do not take a taxi, they are very expensive! Use the tram and the bus. Even if you walk from the last tram stop to the hotel and don't take the bus it is still only 10 minutes. U Divadla was great and the few extra minutes to get into town was worth the savings on the hotel. To the right there is a good Kabab shop and to the left is Restaurace U Stareho Pivovaru, which has great food and good prices. A good place to stay and good places to eat in Prague.

Family of 8 adults stayed to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday. The staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay one to remember. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was of a good quality and variety. Food from the restaurant was excellent and served almost any time of the day. The divadla hotel is not in central Prague but easy access by tram which is a 10 minute walk away. At the end of our stay the staff kept our luggage safe for us so we could enjoy our day before flying home in the evening. This is another family holiday with lots of wonderful memories and laughs.thank you so much to Andrea, Pavel and Jan

We took our daughter to do her fall semester at University of Economics at Prague and chose this hotel for it's location. The neighborhood was great, the staff was fantastic and more than willing to help us out with anything we needed. All in all, it was a great hotel and a great trip.

Showed up to our hotel \" hotel U Divadla\" after a 5.5hr drive just to be told that we needed to move to another hotel \"Hotel Karlin\". We were reassured that the new hotel was much better and in a much better location. We had to travel another 30 minutes to find this hole in the wall hotel that was very hard to find due to poor lighting. The 1st receptionist was terrible he was not very welcoming at all. The room was very poor something you would expect to pay 1/3 of the price per night . The 2nd receptionist was something else, she insisted we gave her the room key when we left. We let her know we would not need the room clean. We went to breakfast which was ok for European style. As we walked past the receptionist to leave for the day she again asked for our key, in which at that point we definitely were not giving it up. She felt the need to let us know that this was her part-time job and was an engineer by trade. When we returned the 3rd receptionist might have been the worst of them all. He did not even greet us as we walked in, as he was too busy surfing the internet. We asked for a recommended restaurant to eat at which he proceeded to say he did not know since he took the train in. Next we asked to use the lobby phone since there where no phones in the rooms in which he told us we could not because it was after 8pm and the manager does not allow. The hotel booked through Expedia definitely ruined our weekend getaway. Please remove both of these hotels from list.

Spend weekend in that hotel,15 min to the central Prague by tram. Room a bit too small, like for double room. Bathroom clean and nice however shower was broken. the most disappointing was breakfast I cant deal with flies around the food.
General hotel it is okay but unfortunately not as 4 star hotel. In my opinion needs some work for so high rate, sometimes small changes would bring a lots of results.

Only thing is the room smelled of cigarette smoke. Very hard to get used considered we came from the Uk and in prague people smoke indoors.

The location wasn't in the town centre but transport links were so easy and regular that from our hotel to city centre took 15 mins door to door.

Pleasant hotel, around a 20min tram ride from town

Nice hotel close to the river but a bit of a distance out of the centre of town. Unfortunatly it doesn't show on any of the maps and we had to do a fair bit of searching to get details of how to get there (tram 17 or 3 to Pristaviste then slightly over 400m walk) various websites suggest a close metro station at karlovo namesti however it is a good half hour plus walk from the hotel. Breakfast was simple but nice, consisting of various breads, cereals, cakes, fruit and cold meats and cheese. It is served between 7 and 10 which gave a decent amount of time to get self together in the morning. There is a lovely bakery opposite a nice take-away pizza place at the end of the road and a small supermarket round the corner as well as a few small bars and a cafe. realistically it is a suburban area and the local surroundings reflects this. As with much of Prague the hotel offers free wifi and there is tv in the room (although no English channels that we could find).

We had a little difficulty finding the hotel and it was quite far out but easy to get downtown when we learned the public transportation routes. We came a day early and was charged full price. They said that they were full but it did't seem so. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and I would recommend it to others.

A great Hotel in a good location

Very pleased with the hotel. I wasn't sure what to expect given that I didn't pay much for the room but have to say I was pleasantly suprised. Hotel staff were particularly helpful, especially the young blonde lad who was on the desk on Monday night - he ordered us takeaway pizza as we missed the restaurant because our flight was delayed!! I emailed a few days before to arrange transfers from Airport and this was sorted with no hassle. I knew we weren't in central Prague but it was only a 3minute walk to the tram station then a 10min journey on the number 17 Tram to Charles Bridge. Given the high standards of the Hotel I would rather stay here than pay double the price for a Hotel in the Centre!! Great Hotel and will definately be returning next year.

It was a pleasant stay. The room was small, but comfortable, and the price was right. It had a great shower and the room was very quiet. When we opened the window at night to let the cool breeze in, it allowed us to hear the birds chirping in the morning. Very nice and comfortable. Would stay there again.

Basic hotel. Little bit outside of the town, you'll need at least 20 min to get to center. Breakfast was very plain but the price is cheap and can't and don't need to complain. Room is clean and spacious.

Nice hotel, not far from the center

The hotel is very nice (probably not a 4star, but anyway it was clean and comfortable with a really big bathroom) and is just 10-15 min. by tram from the center. The breakfast was very good and the staff on the reception was very helpful! We parked our car in front of the hotel but not leaving in the car any objects! We also walked around the neighborhood and found some dinner places/pubs as wanted to try where locals go after work. They are nice and cheaper than in the center! We enjoyed our stay and can recommend the hotel!

Nice Hotel in Residential Area

Hotel is in a residential area but the tram is just a few minutes walk down the hill and it gets into town pretty quick. There is a bakery right outside the front door of the hotel which is great, they do not speak English but they do try and will help you.
The Hotel staff is very nice and helpful, the room was always cleaned each day and we have fresh towels. Not a very fancy place but it was nice and I enjoyed myself. Free Breakfast was also very nice.

Great hotel for all!

Great hotel, all the staff speak great English and directed us to the trams and how to best get into the city. Breakfast is standard European with cold meats and cheeses, homemade bread rolls etc but had some cereals too. We ate our main meal in the restaurant and it was delicious! We ate a steak, fish and cesaer salad and they were all cooked to perfection. Puddings a delight too! (Try the fried ice cream). Trams were max 5min stroll and 10mins max tram ride into the city. Easy peasy! Trams 3 and 17 are what you need. Never waited more than 2mins for a tram in our whole stay! Overall comfy bed, shower was bliss and all the hotel was lacking was a kettle in the room. Would highly recommend!

All things considered I couldn't fault the hotel, easy access to the town, the staff were really helpful and the food was really nice. If you wanted to be picky then yes the hotel was a bit tired looking in some places but for the price and its location you can't go wrong and I would happy to go back next time I'm in the country.

Good value for the money

Excellent breakfast included. The front office staff were excellent, especially Thomas. The hotel was a bit far away from the city centre, but very easy to get to by tram. The \"major\" negative part of our stay was that the TV only provided 4 Czech channels NO international stations, as stated on Hotels.com web site. It was very strange to us, because this hotels appears to cater to many international travellers.

Quiet location

Comfy, clean hotel. Easy to get into central Prague by tram. We had difficulty with directions the first time but each time after it took only around 20 minutes costing under one pound for single journey. Trams run every 5 minutes weekdays.

Good cheap local pub restaurant for meals and drinks. Breakfast good selection.

small issues

Originally the hotel placed us the wrong room and told us that in order to get a room that was big enough for me and two others to fit into we would have to go to another hotel down the street that has multiple vacancies. We were there in two groups and asked if we were to move could we take the other group that was with us as well so that we could stick together. Apparently many vacancies means very few because they said he could not come to other hotel as well. However after we discussed with staff they moved us the next day. After that we had a great stay at the hotel. The area is a little shady kind of looks like the \"hood\" of prague but other than that its very nice.

The hotel provides secured parking - pretty rare. Not so good that parking is 200-300 m away. Public transportation convenient and cheap, it takes 15 min to the center. Since local traffic is brutal in general and a parking is triple brutal, public transport looks as the only vital option.

Great hotel for couple/family/friends

All of the staff are making most of their effort to help us on any problems and enquiries. The hotel is well located within a 10 mins walk will reach the tram station which can take you to all the most popular sightseeing point i.e the old town and the Prague Castle etc. There is also a supermarket in 3 mins walk which you can buy some snacks and essentials stuff. Overall the hotel is well situated, and the staff are friendly and you can get help whenever you need. My family enjoyed the stay!

Great little basic hotel, good access

The location is not in central Prague, but I stayed with my two small children and the bus and tram access was excellent. Very kind staff who were most helpful. Bed and linens not the greatest, but not worth complaining about. Would definitely stay there again.
