Our experience was excellent from the moment we arrived. The staff is so friendly while handling our requests. We enjoyed the free coffee and relaxing in the balcony and common area. I especially appreciate the convenient location. I needed to buy an extra carryon bag to bring home all my souvenirs, and was happy to find the many home goods stores right around the corner.

I stayed here for 8 days and it was such a pleasant experience. Meander 1948 was kind enough to offer a free guided tour with one of their amazing employees PJ (keep in mind to pay for your own transportation fares and meals expenses which is roughly under $500 TWD equivalent to just about $16 USD) along with the hotel company treating to a delicious fun dessert snack at the end of the tour. It all depends how much you want to drop as well, this is just a guesstimate combining expenditures for the day. The 8 bed dorm room was super comfortable. The lounging area is very peaceful and tranquil. You meet such cool amazing people in there that are traveling or studying abroad. It’s central to lots of fun and local spots. One of the night markets (Ningxia) is about a 10 min walk. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is only a block or two away from the hostel. It’s just such a great location and super affordable. Highly recommended as a solo traveler. The Meander staff is super helpful and will provide any information to help in any way possible. Thanks Meander 1948. With lots of love, I appreciate your service.

Room was clean and good location but very small. Hotel offers no tea or coffee just 2 bottles of water complimentary and 2 meal vouchers to eat at local merchants. Shared bathroom across the end of the hall so inconvenient. I don’t recommend this for senior travelers. Better to book with bathroom.

Overall, this hostel was very clean and well kept! The front desk was very friendly, and the breakfast meal vouchers had a lot of great local options nearby. Wifi was fast and reliable, and the common area is a great place to hang out with filtered water, coffee, and tea included. 10/10 would recommend staying here for a solo trip!

Second time stayed at this place. We had a different type of guest room for 4 travelers. Room was spacious enough to accommodate 4 adults and luggages. The room is clean and I think they have added more hooks and shelves for putting small things around the room.

The hotel is conveniently located right next to Taipei Main Station. I stayed in an 8-person shared room for a few hours due to a flight delay. However, if you are a light sleeper or have never stayed in a dormitory before, I would advise against the shared rooms. Guests come and go at different times, which can make it difficult to get any sleep.

In addition to being very clean, spacious, centrally located, vouchers are provided in lieu of breakfast to redeem from their partner eateries in the area. We thought of the vouchers as a brilliant idea. It eliminates the onset of boredom of same breakfast on your second morning. It added excitement to your day because of the variety served by the different partners from breakfast to lunch and Taiwanese dessert. Definitely a repeater when in Taipei again!

Staff were friendly and helpful, and the interior was new and comfortable. The common area is quite nice for hanging out/relaxing, and seems like it would serve for getting work done, too. Shower room is shared among all genders, although I noted that there was a women-only shower on the floor below, which would be good for those who want that. The storage space was on the smaller side, which was my main complaint.

Stayed here previously a few years ago and liked enough to stay again this trip. Spacious without feeling cramped but definitely need to take turns opening luggages when staying with friends (at least in the double and triple room). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was allowed to leave our luggage overnight since my friend & I were going to return after a one night stay in Jiufen. Love the additional bathrooms & showers on almost every guest floor; the shared spaces are pretty clean. On property washer & dryer are a big plus as well. Great location as it is right by Taipei Station (HSR, MRT, local trains, and long-distance buses) and near multiple other subway lines within walking distance.

Excellent place

The place is very close to the Taipei station and to the MRT for the AirPort Express train. It means there are many shops and restaurants around of superb quality.

The entire place is very new, chic, clean and tidy, with interesting historic backgrounds. The common room is well equipped and a great spot to hang out. I really love the day light from the ceiling.

I stayed one night in a room without windows but it’s all fine. The room isn’t big but good enough for solo travel.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Dining vouchers are offered since breakfast isn’t provided in-house. You can spend the vouchers not only in breakfast time, but anytime during the opening hours of the 8 places (Taiwanese food, café, dessert shop and more).

I’d choose this place again next time.

Location is good. Very close to the Taipei Main Station. Easy to find. A 7-11 convenient store just downstairs. The room is decent size and clean. A little bit of the Muji vibe. An small basin in the room. Staffs are friendly.
Can be improved:
The communication can be better. I requested a late check-in. Originally the information I got was the hotel will provide me an instruction and passcode for getting the key after regular checkin hours. But I didn't receive any follow up. I left message on both Expidia platform and LINE messager but I didn't receive any response after all. I only can hope there would still staffs waiting for me to check-in. And luckily it was. There were still staffs at reception at 11pm. I booked the room a week ahead, so I believe the hotel has a plenty of time to communicate this. But they just left me hanging to worry without properly informing about the situation. This definitely can do better.

Wow! the staff here truly made the experience exceptional. They went above and beyond with recommendations, booking activities, and even helping call my Ubers. Jai at the front desk was especially incredible, so kind, welcoming, and helpful. The location is also perfect for walking around and exploring the area. The hostel is very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting.

The property is near Taipei Main Station. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and malls around the area. The hostel is quite clean and comfortable to sleep in. I especially love the common area where you can hang out and relax a bit and also meet other people. All in all I had a great time during my stay at this hostel.

My overall experience with this property is Great. There was just one mishap - they checked me in at the wrong room and asked me to move the next day. They put me in their deluxe balcony room instead of their regular balcony room. It was no big deal but still an inconvenience. I appreciated the meal vouchers and the restaurant options - all were delicious!

This ‘double room with balcony’ was very small, the lumpy bed was wedged between walls, there was no closet or hand towels, no 110v outlet, there was a foul odor, there was poor lighting and chipped paint, and overall quality was very poor. We left immediately to stay in a much nicer hotel nearby.

Booked a private room with balcony. Sink is outside of bathroom which is mildly inconvenient, and they do not give extra towels upon request. No iron in room. Breakfast is not in hotel but vouchers are given, which is inconvenient but does let you try local cuisine. Close to Main Station, but still takes a decent walk to get to the actual trains, as the station is very large. Mainly a hostel for backpackers, so do not expect hotel service. Still quite clean and safe, and staff do try to be helpful.

The room is clean, spacious, and has high ceilings, which makes it feel really open. The location is perfect, too. Overall it's been a pleasant stay in this property however, you cannot expect it's the same as a traditional hotel even you've booked for a private room instead of the hostel sharing rooms. For example, there are no kettle nor mugs nor any cutleries in your room, you have to get them from the pantry in the common area. Apart from these, it's a lovely property with friendly staff and clean spaces/ facilities.

Great Location! Next to Taipei Main Train Station and Airline Metro. A lot of nearby shopping and dinning options. Facilities just looked like the pictures provided in Expedia.
Cons:
The sink in our room is way too small. Also, there is no counter space for toiletries. I would recommend the hotel can buy some bathroom stand alone shelving units from IKEA that won’t occupy too much bathroom space and providing some spaces for toiletries. Bed room size was decent but can be improved by putting some wall units for storage.

Solid 4/5 given the price I paid. Here are some points that haven’t been mentioned in other reviews:

• Towel, toiletries and slippers are provided
• Hair dryers are not hot if you use them too late
• breakfast vouchers (TWD70) are provided for local stalls around the hotel, really nice initiative and enjoyed the food a lot
• 1 floor, 2 bathrooms 2 showers. Toilet gets clogged easily, saw somebody’s big floating poop
• Common area is not crowded and lovely for relaxing
• I found 1 bug on my covers but so far doesn’t seem to be a bed bug.

Booked the room with balcony. However, it is so different from the photos as shown in Expedia. Although there is disclaimer that the balcony might slightly differs from the photo, it is too much of a difference in my opinion. Next, the tv controller was not working. A cleaning staff assisted me and turns out it was due to the battery of the tv controller. She then helped me to replace the battery of the controller. It was mentioned that there is rainfall showerhead, however this is not the case. Overall, not satisfied with the stay. Not returning.

Is a great place to stay during my trip at Taipei. Very close to the station and to the airport express train station. 7-11 is just next to it. Hostel staff were all very friendly. With card key to access to the room and to open my cabinet. Love the toilet it is dry and clean. As well as the bed.
