I agree with all of the one-star reviews. In addition to what others have mentioned, my room’s heating unit wasn’t working, even though the outside temperature was -16°C. This place is poorly maintained, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I regret not checking the reviews before booking. However, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I thought it was important to leave this review to inform others to stay away from this place.

We stayed there from January 11 to the 12th. Hotel was okay, room was okay, bed and pillow very comfortable. What to say about our stay, VERY noisy. A groupe of people were going from one room to another during the night, slamming the doors and talking loudly. Doors are not soundproof. We were on the 3rd floor. Early morning, they were talking on the phone, on speaker and walking up and down the hall. I got out of the room, 2 times asking to keep quit. At 8:50 am, the music was loud in the room across, I recorded and showed the reception. People have no respect!!!

I attended the theatre in Toronto and wasn't willing to spend $400+ for a downtown hotel just for a bed to sleep in. So, I took the GO train in from Oshawa where I booked the La Quinta. Arriving at the hotel, I parked in the lot out back, but couldn't get in the back door so had to walk through a dark lot and around the block to the front door at 11:30 pm. Had I known I would have stopped out front to check-in and then brought my suitcase in through the back door which I could then open with my room key. It is an old outdated building and the hallways appear very run down and dirty looking and I was thinking I'd made a mistake. However I was relieved to find the room clean and respectable enough. The furniture was older and somewhat worn and the mattress soft from long use, but I wasn't expecting the Ritz at that price. There was an updated shower and both the towels and bedding smelled clean (bleach). I only slept about 5 hours, waking at 6 so checked out the \"breakfast\". I'm not a fan of sugary boxed cereal so I left and picked up breakfast from Tim Hortons before making the long drive home. Would I stay again, hmmm, maybe not, but for the few hours use it was ok.

This was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The property itself looks like it should be condemned. The hallway floors bounce when you walk on them. The elevator smelled of vomit. I'm pretty sure the facility is being used for government subsidized housing of migrants. People were walking the halls, knocking on doors and socializing in the halls until well past midnight. The shower was so small I was unable to get in the shower and close the door without flattening myself against the wall and dragging the door across my body, and I'm not a big person. There was a bag from MacDonald's left in the mini fridge filled with old food. It was so bad that I got up and left at 1 AM. I'm shocked Wyndham would allow their name to be used on a property this bad.

My room was OK but the halls are definitely in need of cleaning and carpet replacement. The parking lot is quite rundown. Even though I did a complete check in online. I had to check in all over again at the front desk. Since it was late at night. I’d really hoped to just pick up my key and go to my room as advertised in ‘advance check’. I won’t stay at La Quinta again.

This hotel is advertised as a very nice place and priced similar to others however, both the room and washroom were very small, dark, and unkempt and had a musty odour to it. The door at the end of the hall slammed all night as people came in and out continuously. The floors were so thin I could hear people walking above me all night long. Hotel is definitely is in need of updating or needs to charge a much lower price per night. If you have children and/or are a family, I definitely recommend that you do not stay at this hotel.

La quinta whats going on with you?

I reserved a two bed room and the day of the stay I was given a call to tell me that for maintenance reasons that room is not available. So I should book elsewhere or they’d give me a 1 bed plus another little baby bed.
The price however remained the same and nothing not even sorry or here is some credit back. I should have book elsewhere because the hotel is pure trash. Are standard that low in the tourist industry? That hotels this bad are allowed to operate.
Don’t let me tell you about breakfast a total joke of dry slop.

dents in the walls, and I had ordered a handicapped suite, and the 1st 2 they offered when I arrived were NOT handicapped friendly, and even the one that I took was treacherous in the shower, the bench seat in the shower should be wider and deeper and the shower floor was slick when wet, and there were no facecloths available for the whole weekend, the television stations were limited to national broadcasts, no local stations, and the floors in the hallways are not level, really strange, and a foul solvent odour coming from the basement that was toxic. and their breakfast was from 7:30 til 9am, but they packed up 5-10 mins before 9am.. overall, not impressed, and backdoor was ajar a lot so no security... do not think I will go back there, and I think there might have been bedbugs, brought home some interesting bites on my legs

This hotel is downtown Oshawa and right beside a bar. And apparently a men’s hostel or homeless shelter. We arrived late - midnight on a Friday of a long weekend. There were lots of people hanging around outside the hotel. Plus a lot of people hanging out at the back door of the hotel where the parking lot is - inside and out. We had to walk around the bar to front of hotel from parking lot to check in. Most people we encountered were drunk or high and very loud. We felt unsafe outside the hotel and inside the hallway and even in our room. It is an old building and paper thin walls with even the slightest movement- walking in the room above or talking anywhere can be heard in our room. Probably a great place if you want to party and be up all night. The safest area I felt was in the lobby because there was a person at the desk and it was locked. The staff were friendly and helpful though. I slept a bit better knowing that the lobby was locked and there was a front desk person there. The back door was just down from our room though and people were coming a going from though. Rough night and a ridiculous price on Expedia for what we got. We did not stay the second night and were not able to cancel because we got there so late cause of our flight.That coupled with my disaster of a car rental booking (flight delayed so rental company (economy car rentals at Pearson) canceled my PREPAID rental. My Expedia experience this trip has been awful. Not happy with this hotel or Expedia.

The staff were a pleasure to deal with. The room, bed, bath were very clean. There's definitely room for a facelift - carpet, doors, trims, etc, but the cleanliness was more important. Lovely breakfast in the morning with lots of variety was much appreciated. Screaming babies and children in other rooms until after 11:00 p.m. wasn't great.

It was a perfect location to see a concert at the atribute Centre, then some nightlife.
Room was on the smaller side with no balco y, but was clean and comfortable.

Stayed 10-11 May 24. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The price was reasonable. The shower was small and hard to move in. The Satellite tv was very limited. Not enough sport channels for this time of year. Staff said just google the games on your device. Couldn't get Baseball game or NHL playoffs. Didn't want to sit in the Madrocks bar attached to hotel. Parking lot is very small making parking not easy for late arrivals.

They would debit your card for damages without consulting you..I was charged $60 xtra for spilling coffee on a face towel without consulting me and this is aside the $250 bond withheld from my card. When i saw the debit and asked why there was an unauthorized debit of $60 on my card, I was told I damaged their ‘used face towel’. Manager said ‘that is their policy and nothing can be done, I can report to head office if I want. Anyways. am never going there again and I will tell anyone I come across never to patronize them again. Might mean nothing to them but that is what am going to be doing from now on. I spent 3 days in the hotel FYI.

A good little room for the price, honestly nicer than I was expecting. There was a rip in the carpet near the bathroom door, a dresser handle was broken & our mini fridge was either broken or not plugged in. Those are all the Negatives really. Our phone did ring at 6:30am though and we didn’t ask for a wakeup call so maybe mute your phone if you stay here.

Everything in the Free breakfast was good except for the eggs, so if you stay here I would avoid them.

The Fitness centre was small but I was still able to get my workouts in that I needed.

Overall would recommend if your looking for an affordable room.

Better than we expected for the reviews, but overpriced for what you get. We booked out of desperation on a busy tournament weekend where nothing else was available elsewhere. We were worried after the reviews looked scary, but overall it wasn’t as bad as we expected. The bedding was clean but not much else was. We checked for bedbugs and seemed to be clear. There was a white powder on the bedside table which is concerning…god knows what that might have been and it’s not hard to wipe down surfaces between quests. The rooms are VERY small but do the trick. The beds are decent but super crunchy and loud due to all the extra mattress protector layers (I’m assuming due to the frequent reviews about bed bugs…so definitely worth the trade off). The parking is a serious problem and the “free parking” claim is a bit if a false advertisement since their lot was full as well as all the nearby lots. It’s not a great area to walk a distance at night. The fridge worked but was noisy and was at first not very cold, then later froze our food (we didn’t touch the settings). We were there with a group and they kindly offered us the breakfast area to go sit downstairs where we wouldn’t bother other guests. The breakfast was super basic but did the trick. Overall we were pleasantly surprised as our expectations were a solid 1 star hotel.

Avoid this hotel. We’ve stayed in many hotels and this was the worst! Here’s the list of reasons:
- I booked for 3 nights. Not once did housekeeping come in to clean/empty garbage/freshen linens or towels.
- at check in I was told to park on the street because their lot was full. I did. I got a ticket and the hotel staff were rude and wouldn’t honour their mistake.
- parking in the area is awful. They don’t have enough spots to accommodate their guests.
I will avoid this chain of hotels going forward.

After the first night we didn’t get our room cleaned and the cleaning staff put a card on our door. It said they were unable to clean our room because we had a do not disturb card on the door. Our room doesn’t have a do not disturb card. I went to discuss this with the front desk and they said it would be “taken care of”, the next day, same thing. 3 days, no cleaning, no new towels. After that I went to the front desk again and the front desk staff looked in their binder where the first person had made a note of our complaint and said our room would be cleaned. Still nothing was done. We had one set of towels for 2 people. Ridiculous! After speaking with them on the phone and in person, still nothing was done to remedy the problem. It’s a failure of the cleaning staff and the front desk staff and there’s no manager available at any time.

The rooms are old but updated. The fridge didn't work and we didn't realize it wasn't working until the day we left. The curtains were hooked up with zip ties. The carpet in the room needed to be shampooed and the mattress covers had stains on them. There were crackheads outside by the 2 bars that are on each side of the hotel. The walls ate very thin that the people in the room above us were having sex for an hour and we could hear everything. One of the cleaners was rude when we asked for more towels and didnt give her the wet ones. The price was good but cleanliness and the surrounding area need some work.
