We had a \"garden room\" which means no ocean view. Nice patio but looking at another building. There is a Pool and swim up bar. Pool is designed for kids and there were a lot of them! Only 5 lounge chairs that were never available. Servers were very polite and helpful.

For some reason, the staff are not as friendly or helpful as other resorts. I’ve stayed in Roatan for years at multiple locations, but for some reason, this does not feel welcoming.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was adequate . The door would not lock and they fixed it immediately. It needs some more storage area and maybe a few hooks for hanging things to dry. The couch was not in very good shape, but we spent very little time in the room. The bed was comfy , the ac worked great, and the shower was nice. We were in a room at the back which was quiet except for the birds which we enjoyed, but there was no ocean view from it. The breakfast was very good , but a new company was taking the restaurant over so the options became very limited for other meals, presumably as they ran out of inventory. The few meals we did have were a great price and good. It was great to have the beach chairs available at Bananarama.

We appreciated a good air conditioner, clean rooms, hot water. All the basics that are sometimes lacking.
The breakfast is included and was nice. Again, simple, but nice. (Be sure to try the juices, they were amazing)

Upgraded our room as soon as we checked in...Starfish Mini Suite was VERY small.
New room (Siesta) was great!
Transportation from airport had been pre arranged and we ended up waiting 45+ minutes when we landed.
Loved sitting on the Dock of the Bay & pool/bar was amazing!

We loved everything about Caribe Tesoro! The staff were all so nice and the rooms were clean with wonderful daily housekeeping. The food and bar were outstanding - breakfast included was a huge plus! Proximity to West Bay Divers, excellent restaurants, and West Bay Beach topped the cake! We highly recommend and will return!

The property was not as it appeared in photos. There was a pile of junk just down from our room and their workshop was right across which smelled of chemicals. Our room had such a strong mold smell that we woke up the first morning congested, sneezing and coughing. We checked out and found another place to stay that morning.

We had a great week at Caribe Tesoro. The location is perfect, just steps from the beach and overlooking the water. It’s a small boutique hotel so it didn’t feel busy and the staff are always available to help you. The breakfast menu is somewhat limited but all of the options are great. We will definitely stay at Caribe Tesoro again.

We had the BEST experience at Caribe Tesoro! The staff made us feel totally at home and welcomed us like family. The location couldn't be beat - set on the north end of West Bay Beach, but away from the crowds when we wanted a quiet outdoor space. We especially loved Jack greeting us each time we drove in/out of the premises - such a kind soul and always giving us great tips where to go. Myra was like a personal friend and spent time chatting with us about her, and our, scuba endeavors - love that she dives too! Everyone at the restaurant had a smile and kind greeting each day - especially Sherrice, Scott & Sherlyn. Eating over the water was beautiful & serene. The front office ladies made sure our unit was stocked with fresh water, kitchen items and that all our devices had wifi access. Our room was spacious, clean and the price was super affordable. The landscape, maintenance and cleaning crews were always quietly taking care of the premises and making sure everything was in great condition without being intrusive. We can't wait to see everyone at Caribe Tesoro again soon!

The location is away from the crowded beaches to the north, but just a short walk to water activites and water taxis. The accomodations are modest but well intentioned. The reception desk personnel are usual quite competent. The bar/restaurant staff is hit-or-miss, often lacking attention to detail or are difficult to communicate with in English. The pool is decent, but was underfilled for most of our stay, so filtration was turned off and staff manually pulled debris and bugs from the water on a schedule. The stone bridge over the pool and the waterslides are just dangerous.

Small but nice resort. The front desk staff was very kind and always helpful. The resort is a little dated but my room was always well cleaned. I did see two roaches in the bathroom and that scared my daughter badly. Again, the room was very clean! So it could just be one of those things.

The breakfast was good but the fruit wasn't always fresh and one day the juice tasted a bit sour. We ate at the bar twice and the fish was very good. The chicken fingers were good too. Service was great as well.

The beach was just a short walk from the resort and we really had a great time there. Lots of water activities there and we were able to get lounge chairs and umbrellas for free. My only advice is to be prepared to not have your towel changed everyday. On day two I was told that my towel should be put out to air dry because beach towels are not changed daily. Over my dead body would I use a dirty, salty beach towel twice. Not happening. I did speak with the manager on duty and she accommodated my request to change it daily. Some may be ok with reusing but I wasn't. Just a heads up. We used the pool once and it was nice and warm. It led to the bar which was very convenient.

There is parking but it can be tight. Signage for the resort could be better. It's covered up by bushes so we almost missed it.

Honestly the hotel was great and we felt comfortable. The service was pretty bad. All the workers were just a little grumpy and rude. The included breakfast would take over an hour sometimes. If you don’t care for that there are many restaurants nearby to choose from. Incredible location and scenery.

Property is old and in need if some updates. We arrived abd tge property was vacant. No kne staying there until the weekend. We asked for a change in our room as we assigned a room between the front desk and the housekeeping room, they couldn't/ wouldn't make the change. We asked if we could pay for an upgrade, still no? Just old? No hot water first day. Housekeeping was hit or miss so we just skipped tge service. Coffee pot but no coffee, filters or cups. So we had to go purchase what we needed. Breakfast was nice. All the help we encountered we were very friendly. Pool was very nice. We had to move from Los Rocas as they were full the second half of our trip and Caribe was right next door. It was just not comfortable and was run down with limited ammenities. It is for sale so maybe some of what is going on. Staff was kind. I wouldn't recommend.

Pleasant grounds. Easy walking distance to water activities and restaurants. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Just bring bug repellant. When it rains it brings out the no-seeums. You wont know you are bitten till night time. Lots to do on beach from snorkeling and diving to jet skies. Favorite restaurants were trattoria el pietro or los rocas next door to la sirena a few miles towards the east end. Favorite tour was Live Bait Tours, a father-son duo that knew the history, flora and fauna of the whole island. Wonderful 6 hour tour with lunch at Geraleenas on St Helena. Gumbalina right down the road was fun with the monkeys and parrots. Also did Carambola botanical. Not many things in bloom, a timing issue. That for me was a been there done that, no need to go back. But pleasant.

Caribe Tesoro is a great property in a fabulous location. Close to stunning beaches, restaurants, and bars. We felt very safe at all times especially with our new found friend Jack. There was quite a bit of construction in the area, including the Caribe Tesoro dock. However, the dock repair is now complete and it is a very nice place to sit and enjoy the ocean breezes.

Tucked away at the end of the very busy West Bay beach, the Caribe Tesoro was a nice, smaller hotel with fantastic staff. A beautiful pool, and lovely morning views for breakfast overlooking the clear waters.

The hotel is undergoing some renovations, including the pier over the waterfront but this was not too disruptive. We stayed in the Lionfish room, which sadly had a Murphy bed in the living room instead of a couch. The bed was soft and comfortable, water pressure Ron the rain shower was good, and always had hot water. The room is situated across from the reception, but was relatively quiet. It could, however benefit from some blackout curtains. We ended up draping towels over the curtains to keep out the light from the string lights that light the pathway through the buildings. The wifi and cell reception was patchy in the rooms- but this apparently can be a general issue across the island.

The hotel staff were all friendly and accommodating. The breakfast and restaurant staff were great, as well as tasty food. We ate a number of snacks and meals and enjoyed all the food we tried.

The partnership with Bananarama down the beach was a key feature that we used most days. Having access to “hotel guest only” chairs, especially on busy days was very convenient. Also the umbrella guys there are attentive and on top of making sure you are comfortable.

Overall, or 12 night stay was generally good, but a few improvements could be made to this hotel to make it great.

This property is amazing wonderful. The staff is over the top friendly and accommodating, all with a smile. There had been a recent storm so there was some damage, no fault of staff or owners. We walked easily from the hotel to the beach and enjoyed the friendly beach vibe. HIGHLY recommend this property, it is not like a mega resort, much smaller and many times superior. The employees ( retesting intentionally) are wonderful, enhancing our stay. Everytime we asked for help they handled immediately, I never felt that I was creating an inconvenience. I also recommend communicating in advance by email with Jane. She KNOWS everything and is very helpful with more than just property details.

We had a great time at Caribe Tesoro. The manager Victoria was fantastic, we met her when checking in, and we saw her often during our stay. Breakfast was cooked fresh when we ordered, all fresh ingredients every single day. Afternoons and evenings were very enjoyable at the poolside bar, also with exceptional service. All of the wonderful employees we interacted with were truly kind and nice people, the kind of people one would consider friends after a week on the property. Such a perfect location, next to West Bay Beach. We look forward to returning to this beautiful property, bringing our family next time.

Ted and I had a lovely easy going holiday. Caribe Tesoro is definitely a Caribbean Treasure. Bed was super comfortable, room was nicely decorated and well appointed. Hotel has a good kids pool and different room configurations with lockable connecting doors. Good for families and couples.

Loved being able to walk along the beach for meals, activities and shopping. Snorkeling and diving at Los Rocas was close by, well run and safe.

December is the tail end of the rainy season so water visibility were limited but weather and water temperatures were perfect.

I’m grateful that Caribe Tesoro was able to accommodate our stay. The resort is super cute and kid friendly. It saddened me that our hot water went out two days in a row. Staff did open up another room for us to be able to take a hot shower. The beautiful living room was fun, but was so hot. My partner found the remote to cool it down, but it was taken away and hot again.

we ended up here during the off season and they were very few people around, had the place to ourselves. There was some construction as they are adding a 3rd, 4th floor, but the workers didn't start till later, and we didn 't hear much when we were in the room. But then we headed to the beach, where all the shops and activities were, which was only a quick walk across the pathway , then open white sandy beach that they raked early in the morning so it was nice and clean. Close to some shopping a few blocks from the water, every thing we needed. Breakfast was included, so we had eggs, beans, and a fruit plate, with fresh cut watermelon , cantalope, apples and grapes with yogurt. There was a security guard around at all time, and was very friendly and spoke English (lived in USA for a time in his younger day). Felt very safe. Even had a small safe in the room for our passports and cash. We spent mostly USA dollars, and got change back in HNL (their local currency) , so take plenty of smaller US dollars, 5/10/20's, tipping is essential for their economy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a problem in our first room but they moved us and made sure we were happy. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was perfect. We enjoyed the whole fish and had the best seafood soup we’ve ever tasted. I would highly recommend it. Nellie at the front desk was especially friendly and deserves recognition. This is our third time in Roatan and we will be back! The diving with Bananarama was fabulous as well.perfect way to celebrate our 36th anniversary.

The property was nice. Pool area great for kids, shallow water and slides. The food was very reasonable and tasty, the staff at the restaurant area was amazing as well as the security. The worst part of the hotel was the construction being done. It was directly above and around our suite. I was staying for 4 weeks, after week two i couldn't take it any more and asked could they relocate us due to the noise. They tried to put us in a room for two, when we paid for a room for three. I felt like they could have been more accommodating for the inconvenience. They shouldn't rent the rooms in the construction area until they are done working. Other than that i liked my stay well enough

Booked family vacation here because our regular resort we frequently visit was booked with no vacancy. I read expedia reviews and decided to give Caribe Tesoro a try. Unbelievable how the expedia reviews were misleading. The hotel is run down, no concrete driveway our transportation got stuck in the muddy driveway. We got the sirena room, it had 1 queen bed and a double bed that was not a bed. It was a piece of foam on top of two pieces of plywood and hard as wood, my arms, neck and shoulders lost blood circulation as i let my wife and daughter sleep on the queen with stained worn bed linens. The linens were like rags, the coffee machine didn’t brew, the sink was clogged. The safebox was not working and the room key jammed and hard to use as it was attached to a huge piece of wood that you can't put in your pocket. I ordered we were entitled to free breakfast and tried it once but had to throw in trash as we witnessed several flies landing on the plates that were served to us. We were polite said thank you then dumped in trash. I came away not understanding how they price the rooms equivalent to the other more upper end resorts. Some staff were polite and some rude and scary looking. This review is written in the upmost respectful manner and truthful to best of my ability without being derogatory.

The property was beautiful. I would stay here again. I would just suggest stopping the construction in the evening and at night. Also, clean the pool water better or leave a net for the customers to get bugs and things out of the pool. The staff and beautiful courtyard garden really make this resort the best place to stay in West Bay, Roatan. In particular, I would like to warmly thank Tricia at the front desk for being so caring and wonderful to me! Also, Cindy at the morning breakfast creates such a welcome and friendly environment with the music and sunny smiles! Everyone works so hard on behalf of the resort...They are truly deserving of high fives!! Thanks Again Everyone :-)!

Feels like home away from home

Absolutely loved our stay at Caribe! We spent 7 nights in the Sirena Suite, with a decently equipped kitchen where we did prep several simple meals and coffee. The small Roa grocery store steps away offered the basics and we found several veggie stands around the island. The location of the hotel is great because everything is walking distance and you have views of the sea, but you’ve got privacy and a quiet hideaway here-including a restaurant with great Caribbean tacos and full swim up bar! The busy area is a 20 step stroll down the boardwalk- there you have a ton of restaurants, shops and beach vendors, tour operators and water taxis waiting. Ask Rene for advice because he will hook you up with great locals who can show you the highlights for a great deal. He and Cindy, and really all the staff, were great and made us feel at home. Our room was always clean and someone is constantly working on the hotel to improve it. Was it perfect-no. The bed and pillows were a little stiff and the place is a little outdated. It’s not the fanciest hotel in West Bay and would probably rank as a 3 or 4 star in the states, but it feels like home and was exactly what we were hoping for. They are working daily to improve it, but it's perfect as is. Visit Roatan to meet the locals and eat Honduran foods and explore the reef and island-this place is just special and will make you feel like family.

You get what you pay for, I loved Roatán. The breakfast and staff were the best part. We found a cockroach in the kitchen sink. The bed was a king but VERY hard. The water in shower was very hot little pressure. I enjoyed myself not sure I’d stay again when I return. I’m shocked at the expensive shuttle service to the airport. You can do better.

Our family of 4 stayed at Caribe Tesoro on a recent trip to Roatan. We stayed in the Starfish Mini Suite.

Positives-
* Nice Hot water showers
* Could borrow passes from the main office to use the Bananarama beach chairs on non cruise ship days
* Could easily walk on the boardwalk to get to West Bay beach, restaurants, and great snorkeling in just a few minutes
* Provided with plenty of drinking water from a water dispenser in the hotel room
* Mini fridge to keep food we purchased at the store
* Coffee Pot with reusable coffee filter so we could make our own coffee
* Provided us with extra pillow and blanket when we asked
* Space was a little tight but fit our family of 4
* The pool seemed clean enough
* Easy to grab a drink at the bar/restaurant
* For the most part the staff was friendly and helpful.

Challenges-
* The pull out couch bed was not comfortable for the children. It was very creaky and had the uncomfortable bar right across the middle. We ended up moving the couch mattress to the floor so the children could attempt to get comfortable sleep. For this reason alone I would not book a Caribe Tesoro Mini Suite again.
* Construction going on right overhead. It looks like they are adding 2 or 3 floors above the mini suite we stayed in. The construction noise was VERY loud during the day. We were tired from traveling and adventuring and could not have napped if we wanted to. I wish they would not book these rooms to guests while this construction is going on.

Worth every penny

We stayed in three places during our trip to Roatan. This place was the final destination and the most expensive. Each place was progressively better. The old rule is still true: you get what you pay for. We had breakfast included in our meal and enjoyed the menu options. You order directly from the menu, and it is made fresh for you.

The location is great. Just on the north end of West Bay, you have complete access to the beach without all the people. If you are not a beach person, the pool was only separated from the ocean by a small boardwalk.

The room was good sized, and the shower had plenty of hot water to rinse off the salt water at the end of the day. You can snorkel right off the end of the dock (you need to swim out, but you can jump in right there).

Also, the hotel will help you arrange ferry transportation from and to the airport. The staff was helpful and responsive. They are doing construction, but are being very sensitive to the guest. They even offered to stop if we wanted them to.

The staff was phenomenal! From the reception desk to the cleaning staff to the staff at breakfast and especially, Jack, the security man! Always helpful and willing to go out of their way. The location was great. We were sad to leave! The were converting to a fresh water pool while we there and hopefully they get it figured out. If they do we will definitely be back!

The boardwalk accessing the property on either side was in need of repairs with boards missing. We were most dissappointed in that we had booked our stay and paid half up front for a certain theme room and did not get the room we booked. No notice that it was not available after a 10 month advance booking and payment and no offer to compensate us other than offering another room which was not at all what we hoped for. An offer to reduce the rate would have gone a long way. Most mornings the breakfast that was included was cold. Could use some help in the kitchen even making toast. On a plus, the Staff were great and it was clean...So much so that my husbands shorts were ruined with bleach from the bathroom floor. Other guests we spoke with said they had also stayed at the Caribe in previous years but it has changed and like us would not stay there again. It looks like the rooms are all being sold out privately anyway.

We stayed at Hacienda Caribe Tasoro the second week of Sept. We had an amazing time. The room was fabulous beyond belief!! Everything was top notch. The staff was awesome too. The breakfast crew, Tashawna and Christina were grwat serving the best coffee i have ever had and cooking to order great food. Rene and Danny were the bartenders at the swim up bar in the evening and they served up some great evening libations. They were friendly and helpful always giving suggestion and ideas for things to do. Danny even went out and found me a pound of the coffee they served for me to bring home. Great time great people!! We will go back and when we do we will be staying at the Hacienda!!
