It was an older building but spacious rooms. The pool didn’t seem super clean. The rooms were not cleaned as good as I would have liked. The girls working however, were so sweet and polite! Good location but the road down to the water was under major construction and sometimes you had to take another route.

The room was cleaned. A nice small towel would be fine to dry the bathroom counter. The balcony do have a great view. The AC works awesome. The beds are new and firm. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The breakfast is ok, and is not a buffet style. They all eat the same only once the breakfast is small though. Parking is limited. But the prize is having the best beach in town just steps away.

No controller for AC, only on and off. Floors around pool area is always slippery and can be dangerous for accidents. The music in the pool area can be very loud at times, hard to sleep and rest because of the noise.

Clean hotel, but since I arrived I started to have problems with the parking space. They said they had self parking but they actually share the small parking with other businesses. Also I booked a junior studio and they were giving me a standard double bed room, I complained about that and the manager told me that it was hotel.com fault. At the end they gave me the junior studio but after having a bad experience.

El hotel está en deterioro, la habitación que renté (dos ambientes) no tenía bueno el aire acondicionado en uno de los ambientes y los toma corrientes un dormitorio estaban totalmente malos. Me cambiaron de habitación y me terminé encontrando una cucaracha en la siguiente habitación. La piscina siempre estuvo sucia y no la pudimos utilizar.

It’s a great hotel, but they need to work on customer service. Also the window doors they have did not locked so that felt unsafe.
Also I understand they are ecofriendly with the AC only being on when you are in the room but than they should have an 18BTU AC because the rooms are big and take a long time to cool down.

Besides that, very comfortable beds and spacy rooms.

I read the reviews and was aware there were a lot of stairs. So I wasn't surprised, but we got a 4th floor room and that first walk up really highlighted that for us. They were so accommodating immediately changing it to a second floor room to make things easier for us. They were determined to make us happy in that regard. The rooms themselves are dated, but have a island charm and beautiful view.

We want to Thank Michael and Gerald at the front desk for always being so helpful and drivers Alexi and Cooper for safe and cool transportation to a dolphin excursion and dinner at Luna Muna!

The best part about this hotel is it's very short walk to West Bay Beach where you'll find lots of food and the most beautiful beach. You can also hop on a water taxi to go elsewhere. We took a water taxi to West End for more food and shopping almost every day we were there! West Bay Divers is a 5 min walk and there are a bunch of other dive shops in the area.

I would say West Bay Colonial is a great deal for those who like a budget friendly option. If you're extremely particular about updated furnishings or the \"look\" of things you should probably stay at one of the pricier options

We would stay here again.

Four flights of stairs with full suitcases is really hard, even with all their help. They lost a star because they didn't provide bottles of water in the rooms. When the water is not safe to drink from the sink, it is critical to provide safe water. The area was beautiful. Limited options for breakfast.

The only good things about this property is the close proximity to the beach and the friendly staff. The owner has spent no money to update the facilities. There once was an elevator, but it no longer works. It’s 81 steps to the fourth floor. There is no drinking water in the rooms ( in a country where you can’t drink the water from the tap). We were in a suite (I use the term loosely). It was two rooms with a closet in one. No chairs or stools to sit on. Had a microwave but the turntable was broken. There were no towel bars in the bathroom, only broken hooks. The soap dish in the shower fell off the wall during the night because the bracket was rusted. Linens and bedspreads need to be replaced because of tears. A “continental breakfast” but it’s questionable. We have been coming to Honduras for many years including the mainland and Roatan and have never stayed in a place with so little consideration for its customers. The management and owners need some help in hospitality management.

The hotel has no elevator. This was difficult for mom of 65 to climb 81 stairs, her hip still hurts after 2 weeks.
There are a lot of bats flying around messing up the walls and stairs.
There is no one to help with your bags.
The rooms are spacious but the furniture are old and needs to be replace.
The sheets on the bed are sooo thin they can easy rip to pieces.
The reception area always has trash right at the entrance and the barroom at the reception is nasty!

I’m so disappointed about my stay at colonial west bay Mike front desk was great but facility cleaning was very poor bed sheets were dirty and stained beds aren’t comfortable if you have a hard time going on stairs don’t stay here elevator not working my poor grandma had to go to 3rd floor she almost die with the many steps I have visit the island multiple times but I will never stay at this place again I will rather pay more them staying here again.

The architecture is beautiful. The staffis lovely; very friendly and as helpful as they could be. I didn't love my room. In a word, it was disappointing. The best ting about the room is that it was spacious. I was there for 5 nights and there was no place for me to unpack my bags. There was no place to sit in the room except on the bed. The tv was too small and all the way across the room. Our room looked out onto the courtyard, which was fine, but I had to keep the curtains drawn use or else everyone coming through the courtyard could see into our room. That meant no sunlight. The room need blinds. And there was no way to cover the window in the bathroom which made showering and using the facilities uncomfortable. Our first night there we had dingy, frayed towels. But the next day they were replaced with better ones. The headboards weren't connected to the beds, nor to the walls, so when the bed slid away from the wall, the headboard tipped forward. There should be real comforters on the beds. Pictures of the hotel also showed an active bar area near the pool. It was in fact not in service at all.

Bad Customer Service decision!!

I actually didn't stay physically here. We actually have a home in Roatan and come and stay very often. Our air conditioner suddenly went out at the house. I immediately got travel sites and booked this hotel for the night. I didn't realize that the system switched the dates. This was in the evening and some places reception desks are not 24 hours. I found another place in the area and booked 2 nights. Hotels.com customer service was wonderful in contacting the hotel for me and trying to advocate. I actually ended up staying at their sister hotel for 2 days and tried to talk to the manager there. Regardless of what I, or hotels.com customer service said or tried to explain (I am a Gold member, I travel a LOT all over) they refused to budge!!
It doesn't take a lot for basic kindness, concern, consideration: even some offer, anything. Sorry we can't refund but come and have a few drinks and dinner on us. A tour, something, anything.... a simple and rude no was all I got!!
I didn't physically stay there but walked in the area and around the hotel on our visit to the area. Believe what you read in these comments!! I was in a rush and didn't do that. The run down conditions, the management refusing to return or take care of other customer service concerns is TRUE! It's not just this hotel but in Roatan in general. Their 3 star is an American 1.5 or 2. Consider that when booking.

First, the hotel is in a great location but I do not recommend this place.
They advertise things we did not get. I went with my husband and my whole family.
All of our rooms were mixed ups. When I did the reservation I reserved a room with a king bed for my husband and I, instead we got a doble bed room.
All the outlets on our room did not worked. When my husband plugged in his phone it burned the charger and then nothing work. We did not have tv and we weren't able to use our laptops because the plugs did not work. We complain and wanted to talked to the manager but all they wanted to do is move us up to another room. A floor above us. We weren't able to use the pool because they were cleaning it, but we saw a some guys cleaning for like 15 minutes every day. We never use the pool. We had our reservation paid like a month in advance they should have the pool ready for their guess. There were other things I can't remember now but do not go to this place. Is not good. We weren't the only guests complaining other people were complaining as well. They just say that the manager will be there the next day but nothing.

For nighttime, TV mostly Spanish with no clear pictures for English channels.

It's really sad to write what I will write here, but that's the truth for my stay, together with my wife and daughter.
It's very unfortunate as the location is terrific, walking distance to one of the most beautiful beaches in Roatan and the hotel room had a decent size. But that was it...
The first impression was pretty bad as the guy who did our check in was not professional or nice at all. Then he took us to the wrong room, for which I had to complain and we were moved to a room with an additional bed on the 3rd floor (for my daughter). Word of caution here, there are no elevators in this hotel.
After sleeping there for 1 night, we realized my bed had bed bugs, as my wife was bitten all over her legs. The linen and curtains were dirty (see pictures).
The room itself was not properly clean and didn't have a safe, so, we decided to leave a \"DO NOT DISTURB\" sign during our entire stay.
In the bathroom, it seems you have to guess how to have hot water as there are 3 faucets but they are not labeled... the bathroom sink was also full of stain. Many towels were dirty and one that I got had a hole on it (pic).
The room doesn't have a small fridge.
The hotel itself seems to be falling apart (see picture of the door towards the balcony).
Last but not least, I found out the hotel is for sale (in the Real Estate Agency in front of it).

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at West Bay Colonial. We (as well as most of the rooms) did not have hot water. Our room also had extremely poor water pressure. There was no safe in the room (is this seriously not a standard when traveling?!) and the room did not have a fridge. When I explained that we had a medicine concern that needed to be refrigerated, nothing was done. We were there from Nov 1 to Nov 5 and never did get our hot water or pressure fixed, although we were promised SEVERAL times that it was fixed and maintenance confirmed it-which was 100% not true. The wifi was weak and mostly did not work. The beds were hard and rolled without being able to lock them in place. One of the pillows we were given was just chunks for fluff and open space-completely unacceptable. There was not a chair in the room to sit on. We had about 30 friends staying with us at this resort so we know other rooms did not have hot water either. One room was even so bad that they did not have hot water, the toilet would not flush, and the room actually flooded. It did not get fixed, so they had to switch rooms. The owner admitted he is selling the building, and it was obvious that they did not want to invest any other funds to fix things. We were supposed to continue our stay there from Nov 5-Nov 10, but we could not stand it and paid for another hotel. They denied our claim to cancel the 2nd portion of the stay. Very very disappointing. Would not stay again.

The wifi would rarely work in our room which was annoying when we were trying to organize activities. Also, the pool was having issues and was constantly being filled/ then drained and cleaned. The hot water was giving them issues. On our last night we finally had water pressure but the hot water still wouldn't be consistent ( would be at a decent temperature and then would turn cold). They were trying to fix the issue but in the 4 nights we stayed there it was never fully fixed.

There are no refrigerators or safes in the rooms. The televisions are like 13 inches and the reception was not the greatest. It rained for 2 days while there and couldn’t enjoy the tv. WiFi sucks. Need more options for Breakfast

The best thing that I have to say that I like about this property is the price and the second one would be the location of it, there isn’t one thing that I didn’t like about it I was very happy with my experience at property.

The property is in a central location across from the West Bay Mall and one block from beach. Pool is well maintained. Staff is pleasant and professional. Check in was easy. Rooms are renovated and spacious. Excellent value your money.
