Great location in a beautiful setting. Every staff member was amazing- always friendly and willing to help. Very clean with lush landscaping.
You can actually swim to the reef for snorkeling from the end of their pier.
We ate almost all of our meals on site, because the food was so good.
Staff is very helpful & provided great recommendations for tours and other activities. Transportation is super easy and inexpensive.

Beautifully tucked in the well preserved and famous coral reef of Roatan. Puerta Azul is a boutique hotel providing the tranquility and essence of relation. There are few options for rooms in the gardn as well as cabins close to the beach. Breakfast is included while providing in house delicious lunch and dinner made and served by the staff. Meticulously kept beach, fantastic deck stretching into the clear ocean getting you closer the the reef. Kayak, paddle boats and snorkel gear available. Tours available right on the premises. I truly relaxing environment from the location and the team. The owners Talia and Antonio as well as all the staff made every effort to elevate the experiences to be had taking personal interest in each guest. A wonderful holiday.

I'd like to take a minute to talk about how SPECIAL Puerta Azul is..Coming from Minneapolis, MN and the harsh weather and ICE(pun intended) there is light that shines thru to my ❤️ about this place. Somehow even though we had crappy weather, there are beautiful,wonderful people here. The crazy world stopped for us..and we were treated so well. They renewed us with their graciousness and everything about this place is GOOD. Talia and Antonio could not be better hosts. Noel and Rose wined and dined us. Sasha thank you for your courtesy. Breakfast was great and our room was cleaned every morning when we were at breakfast. Thats pretty awesome service! Great staff and were very friendly. The owner talked to us a couple times and was also very friendly and helpful. The only thing i was unhappy about is that i was charged for 2 dinners we didnt eat and some extra beverages we didnt consume. Make sure you read receipt before paying at the end of your stay.

Chef Rose made some of the best food we had on the island!
The beach was clean and new deck at the end of the dock was amazing! The reef is only a few 100 feet off the dock and snorkeling was great!

Make it a singular Honeymoon, I probably can't recommend this place enough,Exquisite taste, fancy shower heads ,fragrant soaps ,pristine rooms , the ever most friendly of staff, helpful and always wanting to know what they can do better ( which is not a thing), Beachfront property, paddle on a kayak or watch the sunset on the ⛱️beach ,AC , Fans, safes it's a comfortable serring surrounded by a little tropical climate jungle, great food,great staff .. My wife & I spent 10 days here and had a wonderful time The owners live on-site & are very friendly. The entire staff is outstanding- friendly, engaging. The food was delicious, and the included breakfasts always started our island day on the right foot. The facilities were nice & well maintained. We also appreciated the semi secluded nature of the place- it was close to anything we wanted, but we were away from the crowds as well. Highly recommend!

As soon as we drove onto Puerta Azul, I knew we were in paradise. Talia and Antonio pay such close attention to detail, this a truly amazing experience. From the cozy garden villas tucked into a tropical garden oasis, to the delicious daily breakfast of fresh fruit and local quizine. The clear turquoise and emerald waters are where we spent most of our time. The Palupa was a great retreat for our whole family. This B&B is right on the Mesoamerican barrier reef so access to it was easy. This place is absolutely incredible. I will be back!

Boom here - you’ll enjoy your stay!

We stayed eight nights at Puerta Azul. Overall we had a lovely time. Some of the things we appreciated: the grounds were clean and tropical (with access to fresh organic mangoes!), it is right off the sandy beach (there’s a lot of turtle grass but we still saw starfish, lionfish, a nurse shark, box fish, etc.), it has a lovely photo op with the blue door (do it foe the gram!), there is a a neighborhood cat who came around and eased our being away from our fur babies (we named her Azulita), breakfast was served daily and was delicious, the neighbors are lovely (in fact, a flyfishing guide my husband charted with, lives literally next-door and had us over for dinner days after my husband finished his excursion), they have free kayaks you can take out for the day (my husband and I took one out to snorkel the reef and kayak all the way down to Anthony’s key - try it! it was such a good day!), and it’s not a far drive from West End or West Bay Beach.

Things we were not expecting: there’s no door on the toilet (bring air freshener), the flyfishing was a little over advertised (maybe it was the weather??), the reef was a little farther than advertised as well (the kayaks help and/or worth it to get a guide to take you around to snorkel spots).

Overall we would absolutely 100% stay here again - we just learned some things to pass along/for next time (but none were deal breakers).

I stayed at 3 different hotels while in Roatan, and this was the best. Beautiful, clean, peaceful place with nice staff. There was also a sweet kitty that hung out with me on my porch every day I was there. The only drawback about this place is it is not walkable to anything so I kind of felt stuck there. If you are ok with taking taxis everywhere or you have your own transportation, I recommend this place.

Talia and Antonio have created a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Now they don’t have a pool, hot tub or TV’s, which was an initial shock to my system, but we left feeling refreshed and renewed.

We were in oceanfront room #1, which was steps from the water. It was nice being that close and having our own building.

Every morning they serve a complimentary breakfast that changes from day to day, but was always very good.

Their Chef Rose was probably as good as any chef on the island. She makes everything on the spot and for dinner you have to place your order before 6. The shrimp tacos, fried and curry red snapper and churrasco steak were out of this world! Never had a juicier steak in my life. Everything is super fresh.

Danielle and Sasha at the front desk were excellent at getting our meal orders, recommending places offsite and setting up drivers.

Now you can hail a taxi that only costs about $5 or have D&S set up the pick up service for $20-$30. The guys they use are cousins Lionardo, Wilson & Fernando. These 3 were always on time or early.

You can rent snorkel gear for $10 a week and go right off of the pier. They also offer paddle boarding and kayaking at no charge.

We did do the 4 hour snorkeling tour they offer and that was excellent! To top it all off, the neighbors have a calico kitten that is always around and super sweet.

All in all, it’s a great place to unplug, unwind and refresh for a week.

We really enjoyed our stay at Puerta Azul. The cottages are nestled into to tropical foliage which felt nicely secluded. The cottages are quaint and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were connected with a driver who took us to various places on the island. When we were not out and about we relaxed on the beach or floated off the dock. Puerta Azul is a quaint boutique style hotel with private little cabins. They have a nice restaurant and provide breakfast every morning. Everyone who works there is super nice and friendly. Location is quiet and away from the crowds of the West End. If you want to go anywhere, they provide transportation. The best part was snorkeling right off the dock. The reef was full of coral and fish. They also had free paddle boards and kayaks and you can rent snorkel equipment for $10 for the whole week. I will be back!

The food was excellent. Every dinner we had on-site was truly delicious and tasted like home cooking (which was a big attraction for us). The property is lovely, and the immediate beach is great. Unfortunately our stay was hindered by an incredible amount of rain which definitely impacted the experience. The room was tasteful and extremely clean if a tiny bit sparse - no tv, no chairs, just beds, and not enough towel hooks. The air conditioner didn't really work so everything was constantly damp because of the rain/humidity and zero air flow. It might not be like that all the time. Our porch looked directly at another building, which also wouldn't have been an issue if we didn't need the shelter in order to sit outside. If the weather had been perfect, we wouldn't have had to spend so much time in our room and probably wouldn't have minded any of these things. I'm sure the property is entirely delightful during a sunnier week. The only other thing to note is that it's not a super walkable area. If you want to go for slightly bigger walks, I would opt to stay in/around West End.

We loved the peaceful little beach and being able to snorkel right off of the dock. Our cabana was cute and comfortable and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay. The food served in the restaurant was also delicious! We took colectivos to easily get into town, which is about a 10 minute drive. We had a perfect trip and highly recommend Puerta Azul to anyone looking for a small, boutique experience in a quiet and peaceful setting, with easy access to all that west Roatan has to offer.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a good experience. One of the highlights for me was the beautiful reef right in front of the property, which made snorkeling incredibly enjoyable—definitely a big advantage. The food was also impressive.

The staff was absolutely wonderful—everyone was so friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.

Overall, it was a great stay, and I would recommend this hotel to others, especially those who enjoy snorkeling and appreciate great service.

P.S. Since you’re surrounded by jungle, don’t forget to pack insect repellent!

This property is stunning!! The staff make it so special. We loved our room, the proximity to the dock and water. The beachfront was always well groomed and immaculate. Access to paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkeling. We never lacked for anything. Danielle gave us the best tips on what to see and where to eat. The breakfast was always delicious. Happy Hour drinks, food when we wanted to eat there 10 out of 10. Thank you for everything!!

This was the most amazing, relaxing trip! The service was top tier. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. They helped me arrange transportation from the airport, and upon checkout, to my next hotel. The food was delicious and I did take advantage of the happy hour. It had a very remote and safe feel to it. I went out paddle boarding for the majority of my time here. Snorkel spots are a very easy swim out. My room was very clean and beautiful right on the beach. I kept myself sprayed with OFF the entire time, and thanked myself later for it as I didn’t get bit once and I read that is an issue. I highly recommend this stay and already want to come back!

Staying at Puerta Azul was excellent.
The rooms are cleaned daily and staff is super friendly. Snorkling right off the dock is excellent, the food delicious.

Internet is strong and stable and allows for work-related Zoom calls if needed.

Property is quiet and a short cab ride away from the tourist crowds. No pool, but the water off the dock is awesome for swimming and snorkeling. I just miss having a pool area for lounging. Lot's of mosquitoes, and I mean a lot!! The food is very good and the free breakfast was made to order and different every day. Staff is the best! Overall, a pretty good property despite the mosquitoes and no pool.

What a beautiful property! It’s clean, quiet and safe! You can snorkel right off the dock. Danielle and the staff are absolutely amazing and accommodating. The fish and shrimp tacos with the mango salsa are to die for. I wish I had stayed here longer! 10/10 experience and highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay in Roatán.
