We recently stayed at Henry Morgan Resort in Roatán and would like to share some constructive feedback.
First, we truly appreciated the friendliness of the staff. The reception team was welcoming and helpful, and both security and housekeeping did a good job. The buffet staff provided attentive service, and the beach location is absolutely beautiful. The pool area is well situated and offers a relaxing atmosphere.
We did, however, encounter some concerns that we hope management will address. The resort layout is spread out with wooden walkways rather than an open-concept design. While this adds charm, some of the wooden decking — particularly around the pool areas — appears worn, and we noticed a few nails sticking up, which could pose a safety risk.
We also experienced repeated issues with our room key card not working. We had to visit the front desk multiple times to have it reactivated. On one occasion, after it was fixed and we left for dinner, it stopped working again when we returned that evening, requiring another trip back to reception. Additionally, the room lighting was quite dim, and the shower could benefit from a deeper cleaning.
The pools range from approximately 2 to 5 feet in depth, which may be important information for adult guests who prefer deeper swimming areas.
Our most serious concern involved the piña colada machine. After drinking from it, my wife became very ill. The milk appeared curdled, and she was vomiting for several hours and lost an entire day

Property needs a serious update and rehab, lots of rotten wood and water leaks I rooms. Sink faucets in rooms were so corroded that it was hard to turn on. 3 of our party got food poisoning from what we believe came from the pina colada’s at the bar.

Pros:
Almost all of the staff was extremely attentive and friendly, besides the front desk ladies who seem to have a attitude towards the people checkin.

Attentive dinning area staff, and bartenders.

Good restaurant.

Good location.

Con: the facilities are terribly outdated and falling apart.

The bathroom had tile that was come off/broken and was getting molded.

The roof had stains all over.

Toilet was broken and leaked water.

Could not closed the door well since the hinges was broken due to rotted doorframe.

The table in the room was rusted.

Worse part is that they had a sewage pipe break in-front of our room and did nothing. We had 2 rooms on block D and it was reported to their mantaince staff. The room smelled like sweage every time you flushed the bathroom. Outside of the room terrible like sewage.

They kept trying to get is to join their better package of VIP room block. Paid $1.7 k that felt wasted for the terrible conditions.

The room was spacious, clean and nicely updated. (Could use a toilet paper holder!)
The staff were very professional and kind. Particularly Romerio in the dining room, Janessa and Ingrid in entertainment and Felisha from the customer service area. The food was good and plentiful. The facility was a bit dated, but everything was clean and well kept.
I would have no hesitation to return to this resort.

The room’s size is commendable, and the decor exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. However, the room could benefit from some upgrades. Notably, several drawers were damaged and require attention.
While the food was delicious, the menu could be expanded to offer a wider variety of options.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. It is exceptionally cozy and clean. However, we had a concern regarding the lack of bottled water. Upon arrival, we were provided with one bottle of water per person. To obtain additional water, guests were instructed to retain the empty bottle and refill it at the water fountain. This policy proved inconvenient, as it necessitated frequent refills.
The most exceptional aspect of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Enrique and Javier from the entertainment team were exceptionally welcoming, professional, courteous, and efficient. Their dedication to making our stay memorable was truly commendable. ;)

I want to just provide feedback to help for future service! Half the staff was helpful and the other seemed to not want to be there. The room didn’t have any hot water and overall the appearance of the hotel was well below average. The food options were slim and the food was at various times cold. I noticed also that the fruit was canned fruit verses fresh. I travel often to all inclusives and none of these are ever concerns I think there is great potential as the surrounding resorts surpassed these expectations but definitely improvement in all areas is needed! I do hope notes are taken from this and you can improve your business. I truly have the best wishes for this resort!

The 1st room in J area was dirty, smelly and needed some serious refurbishment. When you enter the room, the musty smell lingers and no amount of freshener can help. The linen had bed stains and smells like it hasnt been changed in a while. The toilet has molds.

Room was neglected and smelled like mold, you could see mold on the lampshades. If you didn’t speak Spanish beware of this place as you won’t be treated the same and will be over looked quite often for others who do speak Spanish. It’s pretty sad to be honest.

My family and I went on a family trip 1/5-1/9 it was 7 of us. We had 3 rooms just for more comfort. All 3 rooms were right behind the reception desk and far from everything which we had no choice so that did not matter honestly. Since we had 3 rooms we were all able to see the difference in all. Rooms were E1, E2 & E4. Rooms were clean, 2 beds bathroom and 2 hammocks. Room E1 did not have blankets THE ENTIRE STAY even after we asked for blankets 3 times, all they said was they would send them with house keeping but never did. That same room also never got housekeeping done, no towels or anything. E2 did get clean most of the week and towels were changed. E4 did not get house keeping, towels or waters. They only provide water the first day then you use that to refill the whole stay. Mind you out of all the 3 rooms only E1 had 2 waters the first day, E2 had 3 since it was 3 of us in the room the second day but E4 did not get any any day. Whenever I asked for towels they would just ask for the room number but never bothered actually bringing them. Now food, food was okay. Breakfast was the most authentic but lunch & dinner was pretty much the same menu. The key cards suck, for room E2 & E4 we had to go to the reception about 4 times each to get new ones because they would stop working. Main reason I would NEVER come back here though its because the male staff made you feel uncomfortable on how they look at you, the older ones. One even came knocking on the door for what? Scary!

Decent place for the money. The bad. Doesn’t match the Expedia description in that. Many of the amenities dont exist or arent included. Only 1 of the restaurants is included. They dont have pool/billiard tables. The real check in time is 3 not 2. The bar only had miller highlife which is fine. The drink selection was limited. The transportation shuttle is a joke. They will only go to 1 of 2 ferrys to La Ceiba. And you have to tell them 2 days prior. The good. The beach is un real the sand and water are 10/10. The pool is also good. With lots of chairs. The food is about what you expect at a buffet. Still enjoyed the food. The room was very clean and they cleaned it daily. The staff was all very helpful and professional. I would maybe go again. For the price its a good deal.

Contacting the hotel is a nightmare. They have 6-8 numbers, of which none are answered. You call the 4-star sister hotel, and it's as bad as this one. Setting up the transfer at the last minute is a nightmare; they'll never answer the phones or messages, and the transfers are overcharged. You are better off setting up a transfer from a local taxi service. Restaurant amenities are limited, and forget about having all-inclusive drinks included! Like, what's the point of the all-inclusive? One restaurant, bar with little to no local beverages, but they'll sell them to you, which is insane, ridiculous. The food is average, and most staff members are welcoming and nice.

The property was OK. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel- this isn’t for you. The reception staff was not welcoming or friendly. You get a piece of paper with information, 1 key card per room, beach towel card, and a tv remote control. You are expected to return all when you check out. The bed was comfortable, room simple, and bathroom beyond outdated. But- we had hot water, clean sheets, and air conditioning. The property is outdated and in need of being remodeled. The staff does a good job cleaning and trying to upkeep. The food was good- only 1 restaurant, a snack bar (just had nachos) and multiple bars. The beach is gorgeous and the location is perfect! Also, the entertaining team tries their hardest to make your stay fun. Just wish they communicated when shows and events were occurring. Overall- it’s a 2.5 mayyybe 3 star hotel out of 5.

Overall good. The property was beautiful. Food was great, the room was just average, maybe a tad below. It was clean but dated. The shower head and bathroom faucet was a mist. Sheets were rough and the blanket included was scratchy fleece. They had a night show that was pretty loud and lasted til 11pm, so hard to fall asleep to that, and there were bright lights outside not blocked by the curtains. The drinks that were included were good and a nice variety (beer and mixed drinks) Staff was very friendly, but be prepared for a bunch of people everywhere trying to sell you an excursion or something. It’s definitely family friendly, with some activities for the kids. Pools were nice. The grounds were well maintained. If you’re a drinker and want included food it was great. The ALL-INCLUSIVE is not all inclusive, unless you enjoy Miller Lite and High life beer. They will charge you extra for everything else, including lattes, champagne for mimosas. The staff was rude at times, the food was NOT good at all. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

The first day arrived at the hotel I was miserable. I had requested a room ocean view and the hotel never responded any of my mails . I was assigned a room with no trees around in the B31 section. It was so hot. No winds blew. According to the manager there was no more room available. Only one card key is given per two person in a room. The sink was damage. The next day July 25, I had to basically plea to get another room and a card key for the room. Thanks God that there is an Angel named Kimberly that understand customers needs and is very supportive. She was very helpful in getting our family transportation. The hotel need more people that know how to deal with customers like Kimberly. The food si very good, the workers at the cafeteria are excellent. Can’t complain about the food. The drinks at the bar not good. I wanted Honduran beers not miller lite and cheap sugary drinks. The hotel looks good but too hot and too many mosquitoes. .The taxi and bus drivers are very friendly specially Celin . Celin and George were constantly checking on us and offering their help. The dancers from Tegucigalpa excellent show.

Henry Morgan has a great securiry in place, very nice and kind personel and the food is good.the rooms needs a lot of impruvemens, bathrooms are in very poor conditions, no coffe maker in the rooms as telephone to communicate with the front desk in case of emergency. There are no funs around the halls outside of dinning rooms area. 90 percent of the beach chairs are broken and there are not umbrelas to protect you from the sun.

I had issue with my air conditioner in my room and they did not fix it the coolest it got was 75 degree F. Also no service at pool or the beach you had to walk back to bar to get a drink which i never experience in a all inclusive hotel, but people who came on cruise with daily passes and had to pay for their drinks had this luxury.

Make sure you have a backup plan about transportation, after confirming with them more than 3 times at the airport they told us they were not picking us up.
Pool was so dirty! The mattress very dirty, bathroom and outside shower. The tv never worked. Bar only have a few drinks available. The security was smoking weed at night time while working. The hotel needs work

I loved that it was all inclusive. The room was super clean, spacious, beach front, the rustic feel. I love that it is all wood and the greenery. The Karaoke entertainer was the best. The gentlemen at the bar so friendly so attentive. At the dinner the gentlemen and ladies serving made us feel like family. Also we met Massaging girl in front of the dinner awesome made me relax on my anniversary vacation. I had a blast it was our 12 year wedding anniversary. I didn't want to leave. Beautiful place to stay.

Pros: Beautiful a intimate property. Very natural, and the staff do their best to maintain it. Overall, it is older and could use a facelift, but beautiful beach. Also, it is a very \"locals\" hotel... the staff spoke only Spanish, and all entertainment was geared towards locals and spanish-speakers. Customer service is amazing, and the food was great on the weekend. On the weekdays, people from cruise can buy a day-pass to hotels, and vendors PACK the beaches. I would say 3.5/5 overall due to efforts. Local alcohol, nothing top shelf. And not too many places to eat, especially late at night. For daytime and just a place to stay while you take in the island - perfect. I must say, it was also super safe. I felt very comfortable there the entire time.

Pros: great location on the beach in the middle of everything. Staff is very nice and fun and kind. Enjoyed the food and waiter service in the dining room. Enjoyed that they always had music going during the day!

Cons: To be brief , it’s a very minimalist bare bones hotel. Perhaps we just stayed in the wrong side but there did seem to be nicer rooms on Block A&B near the family pool. For me the room is very important so it left something to be desired but might be a good fit for another type of folk.

The room amenities were lackluster but the staff was very sweet and did their best.

The liquor is low shelf to be honest but it’s all included. Food was great everyday ! Very attentive staff but note that there are gaps of time in which there is not food available.

There is no wifi in the resort area only the lobby so if you’re looking to work from the room good luck..but if you want to disconnect, cool!

Beach is lovely, ambiente is lovely , people dancing enjoying themselves. Just be mindful of the rooms.

I would give this Resort a 5 star rating if the resort company gives the property a face-lift and some fresh paint in areas that are needed. Front desk staff, entertainment staff, food and beverage staff and my hotel room, all receive an excellent rating. If the customer does not mind a rustic feel, then the resort could easily receive a 5 star rating. Highly recommended to all that can meet this beautiful island. HM receives a 4.75 star rating.

Warning - No hot water in showers - no wifi

This seems like a resort for locals - if you do not speak Spanish do not stay here it will be very difficult and uncomfortable.
The accommodations says there is wifi in guest rooms. There is no wifi in guest rooms!!! We had to work and couldn't because of this.
The is NO HOT WATER for the showers. Very cold salt water showers in each room. The bathrooms are also disgusting. Property is falling apart.
Food was fine. Beach was excellent.

I have stayed at Henry Morgan-Roatan before. That’s is why I booked there this time. I was a little disappointed about the restaurant and the food. Also there used to be a theater and a welcome show at night that would tell you the story about the island. The restaurant had the best food, other hotels around used to buy the risk band to eat at Henry Morgan. Now is a smaller area and limited menu, I guess is another thing to thank Covid 19
Overall it was pleasant for what we paid for and the amazing location on west bay.

This hotel has a great location in West Bay. The pictures they have available at Expedia Site and their site are amazing, to the point that they no longer repreesent the real and terrible maintenance condition of the hotel. We asked to be released of the reservation and be able to leave the hotel as soon as we checked in but the would apply 50% penalty charge and we were changed of rooms. Eventhough, also the food was terrible and we had to pay extra to eat outside paying for an all incluive that was unable to be used. Bad food, bad quality liquors, we really felt cheated. The change of room and the complimentary internet was a nice try but during the stay the place still was old and with bad quality food and drinks.

Needs upgrades

The hotel is not as we imagined. It was a group of 6 with 2 rooms. 4 in one and 2 in the other. The room for 4 adults had one king size and a twin bed. During the reservation it was requested that 2 Queen size beds were needed. Now the room where me and my husband stayed had 2 queen size. Keep in mind that this was the fourth room that was given to us.... the first room we had a 15 mins walk from the the room to the beach, the second room was good but the AC was out of order, the third room was given to me by mistake and finally at the end of the night I was given the correct room. Now, there are no irons in the rooms. If you need one you must call the front desk and request it. However, keep in mind there is only ONE iron for the entire hotel!!! It only took me 2 days to get my hands on it! The bathrooms need an upgrade. The food buffet is good but the menu needs to change. It’s the same menu during lunch as it’s during dinner. No room service! The highlight of our trip and resort was beach and a dancer by the name Manzano! Don’t get me wrong... all the dancers are amazing but Manzano has a vibe that’s amazing!

The rooms were not as requested. Asked for a king size through Expedia and they gave me 2 double sized beds. The door of the room was found wide opened. There were no towels, shampoo or soap.

Reflected the issues with the reception but nothing happened.

The room was especially spacious, the kitchen staff were all very friendly, however the bartenders were very rude. DO NOT sit on the cushions in the lobby as a friend of ours fell asleep there and got bitten all over his body I believe it was BEDBUGS. The restaurant on the beach was horrible and also very rude. They say they offer free parking this was a lie. They say you can get internet but they fail to tell you that you have to use it in the lobby ONLY!!! It doesn't reach anywhere else. The good part was they make fresh doughnuts and fried chicken daily.

Only a deal if you're a drunk

One employee, the multi lingual host George I believe was his name, was very nice. The reception host Lsibeth seemed put out that I had booked on line and paid a discounted rate, when I handed her my conformation page she rolled her eyes and called registration to confirm my registration and payment, not knowing I spoke Spanish I guess. The shower was in poor condition

The only redeeming qualities of this place is the beach and water. I had tried to communicate with hotel for transportation but was never confirmed. Driver forgot to pick us up even though once we got to the hotel. I was on the list for transfers. The staff is not interested in striving for excellence. It's as though there was not training or customer service goals. The room I was in was a quarter mile away, the fridge was broker, only was given 2 12oz waters for the entire week. Was told I have to walk back to reception to refill them. The room was only cleaned 4/7 days I stayed. Numerous times they forgot to restock towels, soap and shampoo. Ther was no central lighting so reading was very difficult.

One resturaunt with unsafe/ unedible/ un appitizing buffet that was circulated between meals. Everything was over salted. I ate an all carb and fruit diet since it was the only thing safe. ( they served raw pork)

The bar is limited to 4 liquors( tequila, rum, vodka and gin). I don't think they had even gone to bartender training. The beach bar ... you had to walk to when you were thirst because no one would serve you. The employee Alex would make faces when you requested anything (including soda). Would make judgemental comments and never smiled or gave pleasant responses.

The onsite dive shop is really great for those who dive or snorkel.
The beach however is not private. Everyday tours from other hotels or cruise ships would flood the beach.

Go somewhere else!!!

Hotel has gone downhill

The hotel staff at first could not answer many of our questions. The room they gave us at first seemed so dirty, it smelLed like mold and it was sooooo small! We asked to be changed because we had paíd for a villa. In the villa, bathroom did not flush, the shower was not working well and neither was the AC. Half of our group had problems with their rooms. This is definitely not what I expected for such an expensive hotel. Its NOT what it used to be! I dont think we will ever recommend it again.

Great beach, excellent staff, good rooms!

My experience here was mostly great! The staff is amazing! And the beach was beautiful. The resort isn't as modern as some of the others, but thats how I liked it and it was still a great experience. The only issue I ran into the entire time was the shuttle to and from the airport. Was able to reach the resort to request one when we arrived, and when leaving the shuttle was extremely late and we were just seconds from missing the flight (fyi the shuttle is not included, they neglected to tell us this). Otherwise, we had a great time! I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the excursions. We did the diving, night snorkeling and dolphin excursion and loved every bit of it!
