The room is in desperate need of a TV And The shower needs a shelf to put soap. Other than that, it was adequate. I will not stay there again. The location was great but there was nothing special about it.

Place is amazingly clean with spotless bathrooms. Probably the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Obviously not the cheapest, but totally worth it.
Only downside is their extreme rigidity and inflexibility. They simply refuse to bend the rules no matter if it costs nothing but is super beneficial

Had a lovely stay in Wombats Vienna as a solo traveller who booked a last-minute getaway. The location was brilliant and easy to get to. There is a metro station right outside the hostel and most of the attractions are within easy walking distance.
The private room was comfortable and very clean and I have booked another Wombats hostel for the next leg of my trip because of it. The staff were very helpful and very knowledgable which was good for my first visit to Vienna. In the evenings, the bar was good with some events taking place which made it easier for me to meet other travellers (although they were all a bit younger than me!) My room was on the second floor and was very quiet despite some building work outside.
I also did the walking tour which was superb. Charles was very funny and loves Vienna - he gave good advice on what to see and how to get around. I would definitely stay here again!

The staff were really nice and helpful, and I’m very happy that they offered a free walking tour - it was a great and informative tour that leaves right from the lobby. It was also really convenient that they have a bar and a cafe right there in the hostel!

The hostel is in a great location right next to the nachmarkt and close to the downtown tourist attractions and close to public transit. The lounge area is great, the bar was a great place to meet other travelers, there's a free walking tour several days of the week, the beds are quite good, the lockers are a nice setup, everything else was quite good. Although the breakfast is not that great.

I like that it's near the city centre area, Vienna through walk/subway. The property is located 100 meters from the Kettenbrukengasse subway station. The local nashcmarket is just opposite the hostel ( how cool!). They have a party scene inside the hostel on the weekends. You can rent electronics on charge or security basis. Each person gets atleast 2 lockers. One big for the Suitcases and one small on bed side for mobile, passport and other valuables with a charger point inside the locker.

Wombat is a Gem of a Hostel !
Beautiful hostel. Location is superb. Open markets right across the street to grab fruit or eat a lunch or dinner. I took a taxi to the hostel which cost $36. The subway back to the train station was easy and only $2.40 . Lobby was inviting area where I sat evenings to charge my phone sipping a wine from their nice On site Bar. Room was packed immaculate. Huge breakfast . Bed was comfortable. Own locker. Own safe fan reading light with Shelf. Very very positive experience. Front desk signed me up for a free Good Vienna Tour. Highlight of my stay. I highly recommend given their Hospitality. Thank You. Robert

Conveniently located near bus and metro. Common areas are great to hang out in and very clean. My room however, was gross. Bathroom was disgusting. I also found that the pillow case provided was so small that the pillow bunched up making it basically unusable. Disappointing stay after seeing such great reviews.

This is the nicest, cleanest, most quiet and comfortable hostel we have stayed in. The rooms are newly relocated with new beds and mattresses. The staff was very friendly and super helpful with helping us with parking. Extremely convenient location.

We are older than your average Hostellers but we were attracted to the location and price and vibe. It didn't disappoint on these. Our only issue was our room was located next to fire doors with lots of traffic all night banging the doors each time. We did change room to a slightly less noisy end but also next to a set of fire doors. The Bar and Breakfast and coffee and kitchen areas were great as was the staff.

Buy your own oil and pepper (there was free salt when I was there). There’s a supermarket (Hofer aka Aldi) literally next door plus another one (Billa) which is bigger a few doors down. I was lucky that I checked in late and left early so I didn’t need to pay to store my luggage - they have lockers for any left luggage which seems to be the main grumble that I heard. Overall, I’m very glad to have stayed here and would heartily recommend it to others.

I stayed in an all-female 6 bed dorm. Probably one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. The staff was well informed and efficient, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and I especially liked the lockers that that were activated by your room key.

Reception really friendly, could have spare pillows as only 1 per person. Great location in the middle of the city. Bathroom and shower fine. Main drawback bed wasnt that comfy so back pain after 2 nights!

The property’s location was great for us, very close to Naschmarkt and the tube (U4). Within walking distance to Vienna’s State Opera, Albertina, Kartnergasse etc.
The room itself was very basic albeit clean so it’s perfect for short stays.
Unfortunately the online checkin was a complete waste of time as I had to fill in the firm upon my arrival anyway. And despite having prepaid for our stay, they attempted to charge me again for the stay upon arrival. I wrote to them and they were apologetic (it seems the frontend colleague was probably still in training ) but that was a big disappointment and left a bad taste.
Overall, for short stays, I would still consider staying with them though.

Friendly staff, but some miscommunication
The ambience and location of Wombats is great, but unfortunately there was some disorganization with my stay. I was assigned to a room that did not have any free beds even though I prepaid for my stay weeks in advance. Though staff were very gracious to acknowledge and resolve the issue, I wasn’t reassigned to a room where I actually had a bed until nearly midnight. Luckily, I didn’t have early morning plans but after a day of traveling internationally to Vienna, I was exhausted and would have liked to be able to go to sleep earlier than they had a bed ready for me.

As a female solo traveler, I choose to stay in the female dorms for my own comfort and safety/ vulnerability.
A male was placed in my room for a night and disturbing events happened. The hostel acknowledged it and offered free breakfast as these things “happen”. I did not feel comfortable with this response.

Great hostel to stay in Vienna
I was only here for a night, but thought the place was great. It is conveniently located near the train station, the city center, Natschmarket, and Aldi is right next door, for affordable groceries. The hostel is stocked with amenities like a lobby where you're free to chill out, a bar, eating area, and stocked kitchen with free pasta. They also have laundry machines that will run you about 6 euros to wash and dry, a key card that serves as entry to your room, and locker, and clean spacious rooms and bathrooms. I liked the little charging shelf and lamp every bed had.

Surroundings of the hostel get to feel quite insecure at night. The closest metro station is Kettenbruckengase and there were always drunk homeless people on its exit and around the hostel, which made me feel like getting back to the hostel after 8:00 p.m. was not a good idea. The elevator always smells horrible. Service at their restaurant/bar was awful. Got very badly treated by the bar tender for no reason.
Overall, if you don't mind the smells, the sense of insecurity around the hostel and getting badly treated every now and then by the staff, go for it. Allows an almost decent night for a quick stay.

Staff: Staff was quite helpful actually. In terms of directions and help around the city they were able to help and from the three different people I have talked to they all seemed quite friendly.
Location: Max 5 minutes walk from a very convenient u bahn station. Literally in front of the Naschmarkt which in itself offers a plethora of pretty decent eats actually. Morning walking tours are also offered certain days of the week and the guide will pick you up at the hostel lobby.
The rooms: By far the best rooms I have had to deal with in terms of hostels. I have been to 3 different hostels during my trip in Berlin and Hamburg and Wombat's is the best. Reasons why:
- Room actually has space to chill. Comes with a tiny table and a complete bathroom with both toilets and shower is included in the room. Best wi-fi in a hostel I have had in my trip (no need to pay extra for \"PREMIUM\" surfing like some other hostels)
- This is probably the biggest plus for me but LOCKERS COME WITH THEIR OWN LOCK MECHANISM. Of all the hostels I have gone to, this one actually offers its own separate, in-room lockers with an easy to use lock mechanism. Not only are the lockers free, towels are also offered for rent free of charge.
Amenities: Free towels, no need for locks and decent bar with affordable drinks actually. Breakfast was OK (standard German/Austrian style breakfast)
Only negative that I have experienced is the halls and rooms smell of vinegar during noon when the cleaning takes place.
Location: Max 5 minutes walk from a very convenient u bahn station. Literally in front of the Naschmarkt which in itself offers a plethora of pretty decent eats actually. Morning walking tours are also offered certain days of the week and the guide will pick you up at the hostel lobby.
The rooms: By far the best rooms I have had to deal with in terms of hostels. I have been to 3 different hostels during my trip in Berlin and Hamburg and Wombat's is the best. Reasons why:
- Room actually has space to chill. Comes with a tiny table and a complete bathroom with both toilets and shower is included in the room. Best wi-fi in a hostel I have had in my trip (no need to pay extra for \"PREMIUM\" surfing like some other hostels)
- This is probably the biggest plus for me but LOCKERS COME WITH THEIR OWN LOCK MECHANISM. Of all the hostels I have gone to, this one actually offers its own separate, in-room lockers with an easy to use lock mechanism. Not only are the lockers free, towels are also offered for rent free of charge.
Amenities: Free towels, no need for locks and decent bar with affordable drinks actually. Breakfast was OK (standard German/Austrian style breakfast)

It was a great experience. I attended the free walking tour, which was honestly only okay, but the people that I met were great. Additionally, everyone in my room arrived late on the Friday night, so it was nice that the hostel coordinated our arrival times to minimize the disturbances. Overall, the vibe in the hostel was great. It was one of my best experiences to date.
