Nice clean and quiet hotel with good breakfast. Comfortable beds and high ceilings. We had a large room by European standards for 2 people. 20 minute walk to central tourist area, shopping and restaurants. Highly recommended.

The hotel is lovely and situated close to a local underground station which made travel around Vienna smooth and convenient. Ubers were most value for money when considering airport transfers from and to the hotel. There are also a Hofer (Aldi equiv) and Spar mini supermarkets very close to the hotel making it easy to pickup snacks and water on the go.

The hotel is clean and welcoming and the rooms are elegant and of a good standard. The hotel breakfast is lovely especially for adults albeit they don’t have many options for children or allergen based eg dairy free milk/yogurt or more internationally inclusive eg beans. We did our best travelling with a toddler and enjoyed our stay and didn't let this mar our experience.

Outside the hotel there are a couple of nice restaurants including a Mexican (Santos) which we enjoyed and it has a lively atmosphere. We also walked to Belvedere Palace as this is only a 10min walk from the hotel and worth seeing.

Lovely experience from the moment that I walked in the front door. I had checked out of a less than satisfactory hotel to find myself welcomed warmly in spite of my early arrival. Receptionist made it possible for me to check in early in spite of only booking for one night. Perfect location and vibe for my evening at Wiener Staats Oper! Fabulous breakfast, too, and every staff member was wonderful. Thank you so much for a delightful stay!

Pluses: very convenient location - easy to walk to a lot of places and right by an underground station - two stops to Stephansplatz. Reception staff are helpful. Double glazing is good and keeps out the street noise.

Minuses: tired room particularly that the bathroom door was water damaged and wouldn't shut. Noise from inside the hotel: the nearby lift pinging, walls quite thin so could hear the neighbouring room sometimes,

Breakfast was in the basement and not really cheered up by the piped waltz music. The main issue was not enough staff to replenish items. Bread rolls were good, nice to have hard boiled eggs available. Smoked salmon lovely on the day it was there. Juice seemed to be from a packet and the fruit salad was bland. Also constantly running out of mugs for tea.

Great location! Close to the train station and major tourist attractions in the city. Breakfast buffet was full of fresh fruit and vegetables along with homemade eggs and fresh fruit. Staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. Would definitely recommend.

Overall positive stay. Room was nice and spacious and clean, good location right beside metro or walkable to inner city. My only issue was the room temperature, I was freezing and uncomfortable the whole time, even in sweatpants and two sweaters. There was no ability to change the room temperature. I voiced this to staff the first day and was given a small space heater. I appreciate the effort but this did not solve the problem as I can’t carry the space heater around the whole room all evening. I felt the heating on the baseboard heaters turn on the morning I checked out…would have been useful earlier. You shouldn’t be uncomfortable the entire time you’re in a hotel room you’ve paid good money for. I would highly recommend the hotel if it weren’t for this issue.

I paid for 2X double rooms, yet my daughter's room was considerably smaller than my own and was 4 floors away.
Requested queen beds in both tooms, did not get them.
Both rooms were twin, not double.
Very disappointed.
Amenities fine.
Very poor breakfast. Full of sweet food (I am diabetic). No variety, scrambled eggs empty on at least 2 mornings and not filled while I was there. Only 1 coffee machine. No toast. Poor for vegetarians (which my company are). Ended up eating cheese roll every morning. Staff at breakfast not friendly. Other staff were.

I had a great stay at this boutique hotel. The property is clean and well-maintained, with elegant and tasteful furniture. While it’s not located right in the middle of the city center, it’s still conveniently close, just a short walk or ride away, The staff were helpful. Asthma Attack in a “4-Star” Thrift Store

I booked this hotel based on its claim to be a four-star property, with air conditioning, hardwood floors, and a clean, comfortable stay. What I got was the opposite.

The room was much smaller than advertised, with no working A/C (\"off until summer\") and a sealed window—no airflow. As someone with asthma, I couldn’t breathe. The room was dusty, stale, and full of old, fabric-heavy furniture that hadn’t been deep cleaned in years. I spent the night walking outside because I physically couldn’t stay in the room.

Staff acted bothered when I asked for a sheet. The next day, they moved me to a cleaner room, but it still smelled like thrift store air and off-gassing drapes.

When I asked for a refund for the remaining nights, they refused. This hotel is part of a larger chain, and their refusal to refund even one night shows a complete lack of care. This is not a four-star hotel—it’s a dusty two-star coasting on outdated “charm” and misleading listings.

Great rooms in a great location. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. Hotel location might be more convenient than those inside the Ringstrasse since it is right next to a metro station and can be at Stephenplatz in 5 minutes, along with easy access to other close in parts of Vienna on foot or tram.

I so enjoyed this hotel and its friendly staff. The room was spotless, modern, and larger than I'd expected, with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. I'd booked it online as a reasonably priced option near the places I wanted to see, and I loved it. Great for walking and also close to public transportation. So nice to come home to. I recommend the Art Corner restaurant near the Schloss Belvedere for a fun and delicious dining experience.

Close yo subway.Very convenient to visit many places by subway or on foot. Very nice staff. I remember Jerry Bautista, Basim and Alberto who were very pleasant and helpful. The other staff were very polite and helpful including the gentleman who booked a ticket for concert for me. The room was spacious and cleaned nicely everyday. Organized e.g. ordered a cake and it came as promised or booked airport transport which was there on time. They just need to update their airport transport fee on their website.

This hotel is very well situated for easy access to the centre. The underground is 100m away and one stop to Karlsplatz which has links to everywhere. It’s very quiet and comfortable. This hotel is very well located, walking distance from everything and surrounded by a trove of restaurants. If you drive, you can park your car for 8 euros a day at the University parking across the street.
The hotel itself is nothing special and a bit outdated. It is however clean and comfortable but if you plan on spending time in your room, this is perhaps not the best option. We have not tried the hotel breakfast as there are plenty of choices around.

Charming, old-world feel to the building. The bed was comfortable and the bedding fresh and clean. Metro station right outside the door. Cafes and restaurants in close walking proximity. Staff helpful and friendly. The bathroom was newly renovated and sparkling clean. Shower fixtures were oddly placed making it awkward to find the right spot to stand for showering. For the price of the breakfast, 17 euros, we expected to see fresh fruit, a toaster for the bread and maybe some bacon of which there was none.

The hotel itself is clean and very pleasant. The double room was well sized, with a great bathroom and shower. The breakfast is definitely not worth the price they charge. The location is fantastic and close walking distance to many attractions. The service at the hotel, particularly the check in was terrible. Not only did the reception staff lie about the hotel having rooms with balconies (which it does and says so on the hotel website) but they were also very rude and in no rush to process the check in until exactly 2pm even though i offered to pay extra to be able to access my room after traveling for 14 hours and explaining to them that I am not feeling well. The hotel is great but could definitely use better reception staff than the 2 ladies who work the desk during the day - clearly they do not grasp the concept of customer service nor do they care to provide it and I think with better staff the hotel would be far more successful

The hotel is in a quiet residential area very close to downtown. Just 15/20 minutes walking to the opera and to the imperial palace or just a subway station away (the subway is next to the hotel).

Excellent stay - comfortable & quiet hotel, recently renovated rooms, very friendly & professional staff, great location (walking distance to subway line 1, one stop to main train station); Center and Belvedere in walking distance, nice breakfast, room had all the essentials: (room safe, AC, windows can be opened, minibar/fridge, desk, coffee machine, extra comfy chair, high ceilings, reading bed lamps, nice headboard, enough outlets, functioning WiFI, blackout curtains. The only things that were \"missing\" were a desk lamp for the desk (helpful for working at the desk), and a small \"coffee\" table.

I stayed at Hotel Johann Strauss for two weeks on vacation, and I loved every minute of it. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was varied and delicious. The air-conditioning made my room a comfortable retreat on several very hot afternoons.

Location-wise, it was perfect. Less than a block from both the U1 line with links to several tourist destinations, and a short walk from tram stops at Paulanergasse. In addition, there were a variety of restaurants within easy walking distance.

All in all, I can't recommend this hotel enough.

The staff are very courteous, the cleanliness of the rooms is first-rate, and the hotel lies in very close proximity to main channels of transportation throughout Vienna. For anyone wishing to spend some time in a very interesting part of the city and near some of the most valuable attractions, this is a wonderful place to make one's nest.

Breakfast a good selection. Have to pay for coffee and tea made available in the room not what we expected. It does say tea and coffee available. Had to pay the full hotel stay at check in; maybe the way they do it in Vienna, not something I have experienced anywhere else! Nothing complimentary and some what over priced. The photos on the web look amazing- should have known wide angle camera. Very easy access to transport and very easy to follow the routes. Overall a beautiful city but the room was small for two people and over priced.

Very clean, nice place. Overall liked it a lot. Well situated in a quiet neighborhood away from all the hustle and bustle but a short walk to the city center and close to some really good restaurants. Was woken up very early each morning by loud noises. Not sure where they were coming from but the room was on the first floor so I think it was probably from the hotel staff below. Wifi was slow. The soap and lotion dispensers also hadn't been filled.

It was a good stay in a good location for the main station. The constant ping of the elevator as the doors opened close to my room was a bit irritating. If there was a way to turn it off it would be good. Next time I would ask to be further away.
