I stayed at this hotel once before and had a great time but at this room (smoking) I didn't intend to be in a smoking room. The smell was strong and a bit hard to get used to, amenities and all were great as before but the bidet on this one worked a bit differently than the other room, I had to be sitting a certain way. It was a bit noisy but that's other guests not the hotel, just a strong smell and bidet issues that bring it down, still a lovely location and very nice staff.

Small but clean rooms. Check-in and Out is done via machine so it’s easy even if you don’t speak Japanese.

An average good stay for solo travelers.

While I may rate this hotel well, this room space is definitely not for those who mind small rooms/very enclosed areas.
Personally myself i had accidents just moving around my stuffs to pack up on the last few days and people need to note of the sharp corners of some rooms.
Otherwise, its just a decent stay for single travelers.

Clean and comfortable

An old hotel, located in a busy nightlife area in Ikebukuro. Rooms are small, but it has everything you need and is clean and comfortable.
The small breakfast provided was a welcome addition.
Close to the station too.

Nice cheap room. You get the basic amenities and a free breakfast too. Not much to complain about, however, there are definitely better hotels out there. But for the price, this is an amazing location even if it is in a seedier area with some less reputable businesses nearby.

details i wish i knew before

first of all, this place is very affordable, the staff is very friendly, and it is very conveniently close to ikebukuro’s train station. but in the future i would want to book one more price point higher than this.

now for the stuff i wish someone had told me just so i knew what to expect from a western background.
this is a japanese business hotel, which means it’s meant for quick and cheap accommodations.

size: it is cramped. the room literally only has room for a bed, a suitcase, and a thin desk. the bathroom literally only has room for a toilet sink and a *short* shower space. i’m not very tall and i still had to try not to hit my head on the ceiling. in general, expect to have to squeeze and shuffle by your stuff and your partner.

cleanliness and condition: i’m not sure if the standards of cleanliness are just different in japan, but it was discomforting. the room was crazy dusty. lamps, walls, ceilings, anything not in immediate reach of the sweet old cleaning ladies, had piles of dust. in some cases a few millimeters worth of build up. balls of dust all over the walls and ceiling. we ended up wiping everything down ourselves.

the bathroom, while generally clean, had a little mold in the corners of the rooms, and the toilet had some hidden spots of dark build up too.

there were parts where the carpet didn’t even fully reach the wall.

location: extremely convenient. but there are a lot of girl bars around, making it feel a little sketchy

Very disappointing that some of the regular hotel amenities are not supplied by this hotel like cotton buds, disposable razor and lack of power outlets. The friendliness of the staff is the only consolation that we got. The room is so small that we cannot move around. The room refrigerator is not working well that ice cream placed inside melts very fast. It doesn't have any control to boost the coolness inside the ref. Over-all, this hotel sucks.

Room is bigger than I expected! The room was opposite the elevator but no noise at all. The front desk staffs were really nice. The hotel quite old but with price, location and cleanliness, this place is one of great option. I'd like to stay here again if I come back :)

Our stay overall was good: good service, free wifi, free breakfast (toast, coffee, yogurt, salad), decent area close to station exit. Hotel is also accessible from the airport limousine stop. Room was a bit small and the hotel is not the newest.

Small hotel near train station.

Hotel small, lobby just a small space enough for a few people to hang around. Breakfast is simple toast plus salad and yogurt and drinks. Room has enough space for 2 people to move, but bathroom is small, though there is bathtub. Overall am satisfy with hotel as location is good and near train station.

Good location, value for money

The hotel is 5 min walk from Ikebukuro Station (West Exit, C6). Shops are around at the station or nearby. The room is spacious, which is big enough for 2 pieces of 28\" luggage, simple furnished. Besides, the light breakfast is provided with good coffee, yogurt, salad and toast. Overall, it's a good choice for budgeted stay.

Business hotel with easy access to Ikebukuro

Standard business hotel located within 5 minute walking distance of Ikebukuro Station. In the middle of the entertainment district. No frills, just a bed, tub, toilet, and tv. It was nice that they had breakfast but if you are hungry coffee, toast, salad, and yogurt may not fill you up.

Quiet hotel with good rooms

The hotel was easy to find from Ikebukuro station, and the check in was easy and quick. Room was spacious and clean. The breakfast provided plenty of variety of food, and the checkout was very easy. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

- Difficult to find on 1st time and hotel is around with many Pub and Bar, it's might make you feel unsafe if you come alone but togather with friends is OK.
- Near to train station entrance but far from the main track, if you like to walk and view around it's OK.
- Clean and Suitable for 1 person ( I was rest on single room) room is not small like a photo you see.

If all you need is a bed to crash in.

The room was very clean and provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razor, comb, toothbrush, and toothpaste. And not the tiny one use shampoos but full pump bottles. There is not much to the room besides the bed and the bathroom, but for the price and location it's fine. It's sort of located just off of the street in an alley...so if that bugs you this isn't the place for you. But there are metro and JR stations within a few minutes walk plus lots of places to eat. If you're really trying to be cheap, there are lots of convenience stores nearby for you to buy quick food instead of going to restaurants. Staff I encountered spoke English relatively well and were able to explain rules of the hotel and give me easy to understand directions one morning.

TIP: if you don't speak Japanese, have have the hotel staff write out the name and address of the hotel in Japanese on a piece of paper to show to a taxi driver if you need a ride back one night and don't feel up to navigating the train networks of Tokyo.

I needed a budget hotel in Ikebukuro (west side) and couldn't be happier with choosing Star Plaza. The staff were great, the room was simple but clean and exactly what I wanted. The breakfasts were a nice bonus.

there was a fair amount of things about this hotel i could nitpick about but overall the price was good, the location was good, the staff were helpful, and the room was clean. I would stay here again. Perhaps the biggest downside is the area might seem a little seedy to some at night. a lot of \"girl's bar's\" in the area and love hotels. The first night when i was trying to find the place, i was offered the services of prostitutes 3 times within the space of 10 minutes.

The hotel is very easy to find which is located just 5 minutes away from the C6 exit. Had to ask the staff for the wifi password which is a little annoying but the staffs are very polite and friendly and the wifi is working just fine.

No frills hotel. That said, extremely well-kept, and very clean. Rooms are small, even by Japanese standards, but that said, it is extremely affordable. Location is extremely accessible, and that are many quaint food shops around to explore. Definitely a recommended place, especially for the budget conscious.

Good but not without flaws

Had to ask front desk for wifi password, and even then it never worked correctly (connection kept timing out) -- and I wasn't confident in my Japanese or their English to get it sorted out. Wired internet worked, but had to buy a short cable at the local electronics store. Pillows a bit flat and scrunchy too. Otherwise no big qualms; decent affordable stay.

Affordable and Good Hotel

Very well located and easy to find from Ikebukuro JR station. Its located at Exit C6, about 10mins walk from the station. Breakfast is simple but good enough to fill your stomach. Room is average size but is clean and neat. Both Wifi and LAN is fast and hotel staffs are very friendly.

Nice hotel, great location, great experience

Hands down this is my favorite hotel I stayed at in Japan. While the staff had little to know English knowledge they were very helpful and created a great environment to practice and learn Japanese. The hotel was very nice. It obviously wasn't a five star resort but for it's price, close proximity to a station and nice mix of restaurants, bars, and stores it was completely worth it. The room was kept in good condition and although it only had one outlet I could actually find, the large (for small Japanese hotels) room size kept me much more comfortable in the room than in other places I stayed. Even the free breakfast, which was little more than toast, salad and yoghurt, was a really nice addition I didn't find with other hotels. If you're traveling with an intent to really experience Japan and not just fancy hotels and tourist attractions then definitely give this hotel a shot.

Valuable in price, but not suitable to single lady

Overall-good in price, convenient location, but not recommanded to single lady. Location is convenient, no problems in heavy luggages as the JR exit near to the hotel installed escalators. But quite danger for single lady as the hotel was surrounded by audit business. Single room is big, no problem in cleanliness or equipment provided. Free coffee is provided. Helpful staff. One very minor point is, the lobby is very very small. Don't think of taking a rest in lobby after check-out or open your luggage in lobby.

O hotel é muito bom e tem um preço super acessível. O quarto tinha uma tamanho ótimo, o que facilitou arrumar as malas, já que tinha espaço livre ao lado da cama para deixá-las abertas, algo não tão comum em hotéis com o mesmo valor.
Ao invés de uma mesa, o quarto possuia um sofázinho, que também foi muito útil para ajudar na organização.

Quartier d’Ikebukuro vivant et sympa !
Hotel accessible financièrement, avec des chambres simples mais fonctionnelles.
Pas de fioriture, ni de super confort ou de decos; ça va à l’essentiel !

Le petit déjeuner est très correctes
(Malgré un café infecte….)

Et le personne est très agréable; avec un service « à la japonaise » comme on aimerait avoir en France.

The building is older but the room seems to be refurbished recently. The hotel is close to the station, affordable, and the room is relatively large. I could open my big luggage on the floor without it being in the way all the time. For some reason in the bathroom, the ceiling is low over half of the bath tub, so you need to be careful not to hit your head on it while showering if you are taller than about 175 cm. The complimentary breakfast seemed to be only toast and shredded cabbage, so I decided to sleep in during my stay. That worked great since check out is at noon. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, and any problems were dealt with swiftly.

Habe dieses Hotel zuletzt vor fünf Jahren besucht und war jetzt im April wieder dort. Das Hotel wurde teilweise renoviert und modernisiert (Check in). Die betten sind nach wie vor sehr gemütlich. Am Frühstück hat sich nichts geändert ist aber okay, es schmeckt sehr gut. Das personal ist sehr nett und bei Problemen ist schnell und zuverlässig geholfen.
Ich komme gerne wieder.

有沙發，對使用筆電的人來說還挺方便的
浴室廁所相當小，身材高大的人可能不太方便，房間的高度也不高。
沒有投幣式洗衣機，有洗衣需求要自己找了

離池袋站也很近，沿著地下街從C6出口出來，一下就到了
附近生活機能也很好
免費早餐主食只有吐司，其他就生菜沙拉、優格、果汁、咖啡。

室內裝修真係好舊，雖然一般生活使用係冇問題。但牆身好透聲，隔離房開門聽得好清楚，開水喉亦會聽到水管聲，喜歡超零靜就唔岩住。交通接駁算OK，出酒店落C6隧道可以行到去池袋站，落雨都唔洗怕。但入夜後由C6口行番酒店，感覺就比較差，小街一條企左不少奇怪人，雖然只係兩分鐘行程，夜歸女性會比較擔心。

A localização do hotel era excelente a apenas alguns passos do Metro de Ikebukuro e varias atrações. Embora simples, os recepcionistas eram muito amáveis e estavam sempre dispostos a ajudar! o café da manhã tb não era uma fartura, mas o essencial para começar o dia! até hoje tenho saudades daquele pão.
