Ciudad Condal is in such a well connected area, you can get around the city very easily. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind, in particular Ilaria who was so attentive and friendly.
Overall a great place for a short stay, just wish there was a communal area away from the room.

perfect location. Shower booth was really tight but had hot water, so all good. Had fan and AC, so it wasn’t hot. Very friendly reception staff. Shower gel/shampoo amenities are the super tiny bottles so just buy one travel size yourself at the convenience store downstairs if you are staying long. Sound proof was good unlike my worry. Room size was true single room, just as expected, so medium size luggage was still ok to open up. Mattress was very very comfortable! Room and bathroom were clean and the elevator is small but good they had it. Overall happy I stayed here for the grand prix week

Great Value Clean Facility and Comfortable Bed

Great value room with easy access to public transport not far from La Rambla. We knew it wasn't going to be a large room, being an 'economique', but bed was very comfortable and both the room and bathroom facilities were spotlessly clean. Ideal if you just want somewhere clean and comfortable. Who wants to spend time in their room in Barcelona?

Let me start with the positive of this place and that is its great location right in the heart of Barcelona.

Apart from its location it is the most basic and uncomfortable of hotels. The bed is what I imagine a prison bed to be like and the air conditioning is controlled by the maintenance man who only put it on for about 3 hours a day (1 hour evening and 2 in a morning) which makes no sense at all!!! The heat on a night was unbearable and we hardly slept.
You also have to buzz into the hotels main doors.

A very high class hostal in a very expensive area and very safe to stay in the Principal floor of a residential building with high security. Owners were very helpful even though they hardly understand English.

Honestly i thought it was just an okay place to stay. The room was quite small and basic which i am used to with travelling however the one window to the room was clearly above the hostals sewer system as when it was open a clear smell would fill the room. The air conditioning was too basic, unclear and frankly did not work. Even after i pointed it out to the night receptionist who tried to explain it to me, the system continued to only work at 5 degrees or 25 degrees...both pped out hot air which made no sense.
Fantastic location, 24 hour reception with friendly staff and good daily room cleaning but if you have a slightly higher budget use it for somewhere a little nicer.

This little hotel is a great place to stay when visiting Barcelona. The location is fantastic, and the hotel offers an excellent value. It's very clean and quiet, and the staff is very kind and professional. There is no breakfast or coffee service, but next door you have Jamaica, a very nice coffee house, and directly across the street is a Costa Coffee. Also, downstairs there is a small supermarket which I found very handy. In a neighborhood of very expensive hotels, this place really stands out for the exceptional value it has to offer.

While I can’t say you’ll get bed bugs as well, we did and at no point did it appear that they cleaned our sheets. The area is good, but getting bitten each night obviously ruined any chance of us enjoying the say. Worst of all it’s not particularly cheap.

This is a perfect location for us as it's well within walking distance to nice and beautiful tourist areas, shopping, restaurants. The hotel is in a nice and safe area, the room is very clean, the staff speaks English and is courteous and helpful. We got a room upgrade upon arrival. The hotel entrance door is locked all the time; so every time we return to our room, we just ring the bell to have the door unlocked, it makes us feel safer. We would definitely stay here if we come back to Barcelona.

Perfect Comfort/Location/Price balance

I stayed at Ciudad Condal for a week while solo traveling in Barcelona. I was looking for an affordable place with the basic amenities that offered me privacy and good access to Barcelona's main attractions. And I found the perfecf place. You can get to any of the city's points of interest by foot within minutes. Or if you prefer it's close to metro stations and bus stops. It was easy to get there from the airport and back. The room was little but perfect for my solo travel experience. The room had a private bath with a little shower with hot water, a closet, desk, TV, comfortable bed. I visited during the fall season, therefore the AC was not needed on most days but in case you need it make sure it's on. FREE WiFi!!!!! The room was always clean and the towels changed. This was my resting spot, I did not spend any time at the hostal that was not strictly sleeping and getting ready for my day's activities. The staff is helpful and most of them greet you with a smile. I am very independent so there was little I requested from them. I gave them an 'OK' only because I could hear them bickering at each other a couple of times. Otherwise the room was usually quiet and cozy.

This is not really a hotel more of a hostel - rooms are part of an apartment building where some apartments are local flats and some are hotel/hostel rooms. Some rooms are in a building next door up a close, not what I was expecting given the price of the stay. Notice up on the wall indicated that you could get a single room for 45 euros per night.

I was traveling with my mom and we ordered a twin room, at first receptionist took us to the other building and showed us a 4sqm room with double bed,then after we asked for a twin beds,we went back and got the same size room,but with 2 beds(but the space between them was about 30cm),we were very tired to complain,but the room looked nothing like on the photos!there was no daylight,dark and dusty place..I've got a severe allergic reaction there (I believe from the dust)..The location is great and staff was nice,but I won't recommend it..

How small can a room get?

It was about as small as a room can be. I measured the shower, for example: 2.5 feet in either direction.

My room was directly next to the entry desk. So every time somebody came in late and talked to the on-duty staff person, or worse yet, rang the entry bell, I heard it. And then I heard them walk down the long hall.

It's not a hotel

We were disappointed with this hotel. It wasn't your idea of a hotel. The called hotel is one floor in an apartment building. You have to drop off your key with the front desk every time you leave the room and they do go to the room after you leave to turn off lights and air condition so when you come back the room is burning up. Not friendly staff. We checked out one day earlier.
The only good thing about the building is the location, it's in the middle of shopping and restaurants.

Arrived early and left cases until we could return at check in time. When we saw the room it was tiny and so hot as the A/C wasn't working. There was a lot of noise, doors banging, people buzzing the intercom and it was impossible to relax. I went to reception to ask about a refund as I was thinking of moving to another hotel. The guy on reception spoke hardly any English which seems strange for accommodation in this popular city. He got someone to call me who spoke English, she told me we had book an economy room and if we paid more we could upgrade to a superior room. This room was in the apartments next door and was bigger than the first room. When we moved to, it the A/C was working, but not for long, the room became like a sweat box. The water on the first night was cold and you could hear the guests in the next room. We did not sleep properly and we're glad to leave. The only reason for staying here would be the location. This accommodation is not worth 1 star. What a waste of money!

Stayed for three nights last week but did not get a good sleep due to warm room. Air conditioning was limited, it was on at 9pm and turned off at 10pm then on again at 4am off after an hour (day time we were out). Complained about the room being warm and was told to open the window, we tried but it was noisy, warm air and a fruit fly or mosquito got in ( no window screen). One night got to the hotel almost 10pm and the room was hot, I have to call to turn it on and was shut off again after an hour and a half. The hotel is very basic, a bed, a small desk, a small cabinet, a tiny tv screen 12\" or 15\" in diameter, no access to English channel nor English caption and a bathroom with shower. No refrigerator, no drinking water nor coffee maker.

Excellent location

This is my second time to stay at this hotel so you know I was very satisfied with first stay. The location is excellent as it takes only 5 minutes to both Passeig de Garcia and Diagnol station. Having said that, you can walk to major sightseeing spot such as Sagrada Familia and Rambles. A lot of restaurants are around the area.
Staff are lovely and friendly but the staff on duty at check in normally don't speak English.
Room is clean as the housekeeper cleans every day even though I put the Do not disturb sign at the door!
The downsides are that main A/C switch will be turned off during day time so you have to ask the to put it back on when you come back from outside if you visit Barcelona in summer. The door seems to be thin so the noise from the corridor can be heard when you are in your room. People don't hang around in the corridor so it shouldn't be a major problem unless you are very sensitive about the noise. Guests are well behaved anyway.
I stayed single room but once they upgrade me to a double bed. It was comfortable. The single bed doesn't seem like a proper bed (looks like a camp bed?) but the mattress was comfortable enough.
I have no problem staying here as it's located in the safe area.

Overall a good stay. Great location at a top notch neighborhood. Clean rooms and very friendly and helpful staff.

My only 2 recommendations:
1. Ciudad Condal is advertised in Hotels.com as a hotel, but it is actually a hostal. As a hostal, the place is great, but do not expect the services or comfort of a hotel because you will be disappointed. I recommend that Ciudad Condal is advertised as a hostal so travelers can do a more educated decision when doing reservations and there are no false expectations. I found the rate a little expensive for a hostal.
2. The A/C availability is \"restricted\". By this I mean that the A/C service is not individual by room but one for all rooms and it is controlled by the receptionist in turn. Although there was a thermostat in our room, we could not control it. We did not mind the A/C being off during the day since we were out, but at night they also turned it off and expect you to sleep with the window open, despite the noise from outside. It was not until we requested a couple of times for the A/C to be turned on at night that they proceeded to do it. Ciudad Condal needs to adapt their A/C service so each room can control the temperature at convenience. They offer their rooms and services to international travelers and many (like in our case) like to have a basic A/C in the room.

The staff were friendly, the location was great... but the room not so great. The room was very small, the bathroom even smaller to the point it was difficult to turn around in! The air conditioning didnt work and something was wrong with the fuse box in the room as it kept making a noise. Staff did go un daily to make the beds and empty the bathroom bin however this is all they did do.. toiletries were not replaced unless requested.

The location of this hotel was perfect for visiting Barcelona. You can do nearly everything by foot. But be sure to order a room with street view if you want a nicer view then the inside-building rooms, which have a window but the view it's inside the building.

Room is comfy, clean and warm. And on the last day they took care of our luggage so we could visit the city more.

Disappointing

I was staying in the room for one night and heading back to the States. I was traveling with friends who were continuing on their travels through Europe. They needed a place to hold their luggage until the end of the day. The hotel staff, at first was accommodating. When we returned later to the room to pick up somethings, the staff was rude and wouldn't let me my friends in my room, they thought we were trying to purchase the room for a single and tried to sneak two additional people in I reassured them the room was only for one and my friends were not staying with me and would be leaving on a bus later in the evening towards France. We felt very uncomfortable and my friends chose not to go in the room to freshen up and gather some additional items for our remaining evening together, because of the staff rudeness.
I also inquired about a shuttle bus for the airport several times, and was told the woman who handles this would be in later so I could arrange a ride to the airport the next morning. The woman was never available and I was then told late in the evening I would need 5 people for them to arrange a shuttle to the airport. I was told I could take a taxi for E35. Or take a train to the airport, but that would be a two hour ride. The shuttle was only E12 and they had signs at the desk advertising the shuttle and also with their hotel confirmation email. It was very frustrating since my friends had already left on their journey and was at a loss.

The hotel does not have a sign outside the building. It looks like a converted residential unit located on the 3 rd floor with about 7 or 8 tiny rooms. You need to push an button from outside to get in; then push another button inside to call for a very small elevator to go upstairs. The lift can hold only 4 average size persons, or 2 people with 2 medium size luggage. A small counter is the reception desk located in a narrow hallway. There is no lobby nor anywhere to sit down. Requested twin beds when the room was booked, but was given a single full size. When I complained, the owner said I need to pay extra to get a twin room. I couldn't get an upgrade, because it was fully booked. The bathroom is very, very small; about 4' x 4.5'. The shower stall is so tiny that you would turn off the water when your body hit the handle (flip up type) while showering. The TV is a wall mounted 17\" set. The closet is about 15\" wide partition with 4 hangers (It could not fit more). The window could open only about 6\" from the top (hinges at the bottom), mosquito could get in because there is no screen. You could tell that the bed spread was not cleaned for a long time. Neighborhood is good and convenient to a few nearby attractions (walking distance). If you want to stay in a better hotel, Double Tree by Hilton Hotel is just next door. Hotel.com should remove this Ciudad Condal Hotel from its listings.

Excellent location

We are fit seniors and enjoyed walking everywhere. It is handy to Sagrada Familia, Casa Battlo, La Rambla, the Gothic quarter. We even walked to Ciuadadella. The staff were very friendly. Not all spoke English, but we communicated well anyway. Room was very small but perfect for a rest then rejoining the exciting ambience that is Barcelona.
