Overall, I had a good stay at APA Hotel Higashi Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, although they are definitely on the smaller side, which is fairly typical for Tokyo. One of my favorite amenities was the hot bath area, which was a great way to relax after a long day of exploring the city.

The location is convenient and provides easy access to transportation and nearby attractions. One thing to be aware of is that the area around the hotel can attract some aggressive street solicitors. We encountered people claiming to be doctors or engineers trying to strike up conversations and lure visitors elsewhere, so just be cautious and politely decline if approached.

Overall, the hotel offers good value, comfortable accommodations, and excellent bath facilities, and I would stay here again.

Our stay was great! The room was small but we knew that and made best of it. The staff was super friendly and English was great. After our check out time the hotel was at 10am and our flight at 9pm and the hotel allows you to keep your bags at the hotel after checkout so we could do a bit more exploring without having to go to the airport super early. We picked up our bags around 5pm and went off to the hotel! The hotel was in a great spot and very convenient for travel.

Absolutely great hotel! Great location, plenty of restaurants etc right outside and just close enough to the craziness of the ‘heart’ of Shinjuku/Godzilla head (8 min walk). We used other close by metro stations when possible to avoid the main one with its 200 exits! My partner had ordered a Japanese item whilst he was stateside and had issues with the delivery to the hotel, the staff bent over backwards to track his package online and he was able to travel into central Tokyo and pick it up in person the day of our flight! Even if we didn’t request housekeeping, fresh towels and toiletries etc were waiting outside our hotel room each day. We paid extra to stay on a higher floor. The rooms are small, but perfectly designed and practical. If you are a larger/taller person pay for a bigger room if that’s going to be an issue. My partner is 6’1” and we made it work. I would 100% stay here again.

Great location. There are a lot of APA hotels in the area so anyone is fine. I chose one with an onsen which this one had and it was awesome. There was on onsen inside and one outside. The hotel has a south and Main building long we were in the South but the onsen is in the main but it just a corridor away (you do have to walk outside for 10 sec though. Overall a great location and a great stay.

The room was tiny but so thoughtful and functionally done. Perfect for a single traveler who doesn’t plan to spend a lot of time in the room, but also comfortable enough to relax and spend a morning in. Lots of outlets for charging, lots of hooks and hangers and space under the bed to make it suitcases, and the staff was friendly and accommodating to my needs. The only reason I rated the amenities a 4/5 is because I didn’t use them, but if they were like my room, I’m sure they were great.

This hotel has rooms that are identical to the ones in other Apa and LiveMax hotels. The hotel and rooms are clean and tidy. The rooms are small to the point that navigating the room with two people with suitcases is a challenge, but otherwise have everything I needed, like plenty of outlets for two people to charge all of their electronics at the same time. One good thing about this room that I haven't seen in any of the other similar rooms I've stayed in in Tokyo and Osaka is that the bed was tall enough that we were able to slide our large suitcases underneath it, which is a game-changer for tiny rooms like this. There still isn't much room to take your suitcase out, open it up, and go through it, but if you alternate, you'll have space (one person takes their suitcase out while the other person's suitcase is stored underneath the bed). Lastly, if you're traveling alone, this room, while small, is plenty large enough for my needs, and all of the difficulties with the small size come from sharing the room with another person.

Staff was wonderful and I hate to leave a bad review simply because of that. But my room had a disgusting, mildew smell - like the guest before me had left their wet moldy gym clothes in there. I asked the staff to check it out, but the only solution they had was to crack a window, which then had to quickly be closed due to safety concerns. So the next 5 days I had to deal with this mildew smell each time I walked into my room. It was awful. I’d never stay here again, simply because the room smelled unclean. Again, the staff was incredible, but the smell of my room unbearable.

Solid location in Shinjuku. Lots to do nearby, easy transport to the whole of Tokyo. They held our bags after checkout for a full day in Tokyo as we left in the evening. Rooms are very tight as is standard in the area. No complaints!

It is a very nice ans clean hotel. I got one of the cheaper rooms, and because of that my room was rather small. Despite its small size it was easier to move around in than it first appeared. The bed was very comfortable had plenty of storage space for luggage underneath. It had a very nice bathroom and shower.
The spa was very nice, and once Igot used to the cultural aspects of it, I was visiting it every day.
The location is fantastic and is right by several important stores for any tourist like a family market, 7-11 and of course Don Quiote. It is also a short walk to several different stations.
The one flaw is that there is often crowding around the washing and drying machines, but there is a 24 hour laundromat next door.
Overall I enjoyed my stay very much.

This is my second stay at this hotel and I continue to recommend it. It is within walking distance to several subway stations, so no matter where you are going, it is just a short walk from the hotel. And, the more I explore the immediate area around the hotel, the more I discover great restaurants and stores. We ate at the hotel restaurant for breakfast nearly every day. It has something for everyone. The room was clean and comfortable.
If I had one thing to complain about, it is with the clothes dryers in the hotel laundromat. The washer took 30 minutes, but the dryers took 90 and some clothes were still damp, but because others were waiting, we settled with that.

My biggest problem was simply finding the hotel. All the APA hotels in Tokyo have VERY similar names. I'd be out then upon returning I'd be at the wrong APA hotel. All have similar Shinjuku Hijari Kubuchi Tower designations. Absolutely maddening.

I made a last minute decision to make a 9 day reservation at the Apa Hotel in Shinjuku a day or two before I arrived in Tokyo, and the staff were helpful with checking in after I arrived in Tokyo late at night. The hotel room was great to stay in for one person accommodation, and the housekeeping staff will provide new towels every other day during your stay. The hotel is also in Shinjuku, where the popular sights are within walking distance. I would recommend to stay at the Apa Hotel if you are traveling to Tokyo.
