This is a really nice hotel. Glad I wasn’t deterred by the negative reviews. The hotel is secure, there is security on the premises and cameras all around. I felt safe. The staff were very helpful and friendly, even got a baby lizard out of our room lol. It’s close to everything, no more than 10-15 minutes away. Taxis are high, we used ride shares but they are not welcomed by the taxi drivers so be aware of pick up locations. The place is so serene, really quiet and relaxing. The restaurant on site has really good breakfast. The power did go out on our last day for a few hours which is common in Tulum fyi. We just enjoyed nature and the pool during that time, plus the common areas like the lobby and restaurant has backup generators and were still operating as normal. Will stay here again.

Overall, the hotel grounds and nice and maintained. I can say the rooms were nice and spacious as well. The only problem is outside noise in the apartment. My 1 bedroom was outside of the pool with kids constantly screaming. I was able to tune it out but the bedroom located in the back faced the road and you can clearly hear every car driving by. Thankful the road is clamber at night. On my second day there was a high pitched loud buzzing sound coming from the courtyard. I couldn’t tune this sound out and it was extremely irritating. I walked around to see where it was coming from and finally asked the front desk if I could change rooms. I also noticed my balcony door didn’t close all the way. The front desk said we don’t have any other one bedrooms available and said nobody ever complained about this noise. I offered to take a downgrade or even pay for an upgrade to no avail. I convinced them to come hear the sound and they finally agreed and learned the sound was coming from a motor outside of my room. They shut off the motor and all was well and they sent someone to fix the door. The motor was back on my last day but I just dealt with it. The front desk could have handled the situation better and offered some accommodation rather than dismissing my claims. Overall it’s a nice place but not relaxing and staff could have been better. I’d think twice before booking this place or at least book a room on the higher floor to avoid the noise.

Overall not a bad stay. Apartment was very spacious, although a bit tired in places. Kitchen crockery and utensils were very minimal. Shower enclosure very large, but you can't stop water going all over the floor. Could do with a squeegee in the bathroom. Also the room has a very musty / damp smell about it.
Breakfast in the restaurant was always pleasant, serving staff always very nice and courteous.

Could not have been more pleased with my room with a private pool, and everything from the rooftop pool to the jungle restaurant was superb. Big bonus points from the very affordable bike hire service and excellent, quick room service.

I stayed at Copal Tulum Hotel for four days and overall had a great experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, with a relaxing jungle vibe that makes it easy to unwind. The cenote on the property was definitely a highlight—such a unique and wonderful feature.

The yoga sessions were a 10/10, and the on-site photographer was also excellent. The food at the restaurant on the property was really good as well—everything I tried was fresh and flavorful. Transportation arrangements were smooth and well accommodated, which made getting around much easier.

The staff truly made a difference in my stay. Max was especially pleasant, kind, and very helpful, and Johnny was also incredibly supportive throughout my visit.
The only downside was that the door was sometimes difficult and inconvenient to lock and open. I also purchased an upgraded room, which did not meet my expectations, it felt a bit small base on what is shown.

Overall, despite a couple of minor inconveniences, I would absolutely stay here again.

Terrible amount of mold - spotty wifi, no hot water multiple days, staff that lies, and I lost money cash I believe here.

The building is so noisy and near parties, its constructed poorly and cheaply very old, terrible water smells.. like unbearable sewer type smells.

Mold and unsafe. Staff makes you feel unsafe. Avoid at all costs.

Each night you were greeted with an even bigger smile and wanted to know about all your adventures.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable!

We are sad to leave as we met so many people at the hotel (staff) and around the town that became like family!

The hotel was beautiful with the rooms built in a square around a dense jungle garden. There were two lovely pools - one in the garden and one on the rooftop. We had a beautiful contemporary room, well in fact a suite with two bedrooms and lounge/diner thanks to our VIP upgrade. The staff were very professional and helpful. We can’t comment on the restaurants as we didn’t use them. We were delighted with our stay.

I started in a jungle room and found it quiet, dark, and cool. I later switched to a rooftop room which was super sunny and hot. Both rooms were great, it just depends what you're looking for. My preference was the rooftop.

La puerta desde el
pasillo hacia nuestra terraza no tenía manera de cerrarse. Las toallas de la alberca deshiladas e incluso hasta rotas. El hotel, a pesar de verse bonito no es un hotel amigable para poder pasar un día relajado en su alberca, que estaba incluso sucia. Por la ubicación y costo seguramente podrán encontrar un mejor hospedaje.

The jungle vibe of the hotel was very cool! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The citrus water at reception was very refreshing upon arrival. We only ate at the international restaurant and room service which were always timely and delicious. Bike rental right at the hotel was also very nice and affordable which we used several times. The hotel was a pickup place for several activities which was very handy. Our room was on the 2nd floor and very large, private and quiet. You get 2 complimentary bottles of water in your room the first night. What was missing that brought it down to average - pools are not heated and were freezing. There is no whirlpool with actual massage jets and heat. There were plenty of sun loungers. The room did not have face washing towels, no iron (could purchase ironing service), no complimentary coffee (could purchase delicious Americanos from the restaurant), no complementary body lotion (could buy massage and lotion), no channels on the TV only your paid Netflix account. The very nice walk-in rain shower had very dirty walls that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Definitely not what one expects from a 5-star hotel. I give it a 3 1/2 star rating.

Ivy at the front desk was exceptionally nice and gave us recommendations on things to do and places to eat in Tulum. Additionally, Max was fun to talk to and super helpful with any questions that we had. Even though my friend and I speak Spanish, all of the hotel staff seemed to be pretty bilingual and able to communicate in English if needed.

We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel, so I can’t comment on that, but the food at the Copal Bistro Restaurant (the one in the hotel) was really good. The pasta and salmon that we ordered were excellent. A little bit on the pricier side, but good food, nonetheless.

The hotel was clean and room service changed our sheets every day and cleaned the bathroom and emptied the trash. No complaints there.

Even though we didn’t use it, the room came with pans to cook in, plates, glasses, knives, forks, spoons, toaster, and most things needed to cook.

If I ever go back to Tulum, I would definitely stay there again and would recommend others to stay there.

I couldn’t say enough good things about this property. We stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed every single day we were there.

Outside area: Beautiful and jungle like around the pool, restaurant and rooms. So well maintained.

Gym: perfect little fitness studio with a treadmill, elliptical, free weights and a machine for pulls.

Pools: 2 main pools - rooftop or the main pool which is long enough to swim laps if desired.

Room: our studio with private pool was amazing. Excellent working a/c and fans, comfortable big bed, full kitchen facilities (dishes, pots, pans, etc) and table to eat at, living room with comfy couch and smart TV, big closet with drawers and a bathroom with good water pressure and temperature control.

Service: the staff are super friendly and helpful and they do an amazing job of assisting at reception or cleaning the rooms.

Extras: bike rental available for extra charge, towels for the pool or to take to the beach, spa services if desired and cold fruit water always available in reception.

Area of Tulum: we thought it was ideal. Right between the beach and Tulum Town. It’s in a quiet area away from heavy traffic and has lots of stores within bike or walking distance.

If I came back to Tulum, I’d for sure stay here again without hesitation.

BEWARE!! Mold!! The room smelled of a mildew stench, they offered us another room but we left the hotel. Then refused to give us a refund. Deplorable behavior and I will leave reviews on every platform I can find. They were completely friendly as we chose to leave the hotel and then withheld our money. They refused to give it back to the travel website. Sickening. DO NOT BOOK.

Very big and comfortable and pretty as seen in the pictures. Probably the most comfortable hotel we lived during this trip. It’s in an hotel area which is not so convenient if you want to shop around. But I feel there are enough things to do here for relaxing. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel and both are good but a bit pricy. The spa service is very good but also for a price. There are more good places to eat if you don’t mind walking around. It is true some of the roads nearby are terrible. But most of the roads are fine and this area feels very safe. Take your time if you drive here and the gps leads you to somewhere with bad road. There are normally other ways to avoid those bad roads. The private pool is not heat up so think about it when it’s not too hot. They don’t have free breakfast so we bought some bread and eggs and cook our own. They have full kitchen space which is very convenient in this case

We been going there almost once a month, if not more for years.
You would think people we absolutely remember and recognize would treat us better.
We have a mediocre service. Where they one a tip for just opening the door…
They started to kick us out exactly at 12;00 where we actually had another day stay (which, no matter how many years we been loyal to Copal, would not refund, as we booked the wrong day).
The mattresses and linens were great, now they have been changed. My husband and I woke up with out backs hurting.

This was the best vacation I’ve had.
The stay at the hotel was more than I expected the food was amazing the staff were beyond helpful generous and genuine. I had absolutely no problems nor did I had to wait for anything. The guys at the desk got me anything I asked for. They did an amazing surprise breakfast for my wife. Decorated the room with professional structures made of ballons, chocolate strawberries, roses and a dinner in the most amazing new location . The restaurant servers went out of their way to ensure my wife and I had halal steak for her birthday dinner, getting us extra items from different restaurants to combine into one big meal.
The place is absolutely gorgeous the scenery from the appartment was amazing .
The pools were well kept, temperature was cool and refreshing walking around under all the trees, their cats were super friendly and loving, room service was great.
Copal in Tulum is probably the best hotel for me. I wouldn’t go anywhere else honestly. I felt safe and everyone treated me like they were my best friend. Never told me no . The guys at the check in did way more for me than they needed to . It was absolutely perfect .

The front desk staff are exceptional in their knowledge of Tulum and tourism service providers, in fact one of their recommendations led to three amazing days of cenote diving for me with a private guide which was followed each day by a massage from an excellent masseuse. One of the best hotels ever. If you want peace and quiet- good food, beautiful grounds, safety, and the most outstanding staff ever- you will love Copal. Ivy, Johnny, and Victor at the front desk were nothing short of amazing and friendly. The hostess/waitress Paola, was super helpful. She found us a driver that was half the price of the others. I cannot tell you how much I loved this hotel. You must go experience it for yourself. We are returning with our family!!

I had a fantastic time in Copal. They had complimentary parking but you could also rent a bike if you wanted. I ate in the gastrobar for breakfast and lunch, food was very good and prices were normal for what’s in the area.

I stayed in a 1 bedroom jungle view room. The hotel itself is gorgeous, very peaceful, the staff is amazing. We mostly dealt with Johnny and he was so nice, gave us great restaurant recommendations, and overall a really welcoming presence. The kitchen comes equipped with basic kitchen ware such as cutlery, plates, cups, pans to cook in etc.

We got a deep tissue massage from the healing spot, it was fantastic. The masseuse was very friendly and listened to what you requested, the price point was also very reasonable unlike many other spas that are overpriced.

The hotel is located near the main avenue, you have a 7/11 and gas station less than 5 minutes away so that’s very convenient, and you have a supermarket about 7 minutes away. Getting on the main avenue is less than a 10 minute drive so it’s perfect if you plan on taking day trips you’re very close to the center and can pretty much go anywhere without much added commute time. The hotel is located within a 30-40 minute drive from the airport.

The only negative I have on the hotel is that I think the maintenance on it could be a bit better. The shower and faucet has a lot of water build up, the kitchen drawer liners are a bit stained, there are some dents on the doors, etc. Small details.

We really enjoyed our stay at Copal and I would stay again. The private rooftop pool was really special and the jungle views were amazing. The apartment was well equipped but could do with some more cutlery and a kettle. Before going, I was concerned about the area not feeling safe or being loud with development but this wasn’t the case. The area felt safe and convenient for getting to other parts of Tulum - I saw many women walking their dogs alone after dark. There is work going on in the area but I didn’t hear it and it didn’t affect Copal because of the jungle trees hiding it from view- I’m usually sensitive to this sort of thing. The roads and paths were fine and walkable -even with a pushchair. Nearby park for kids & on street parking readily available outside the hotel. We stayed with our toddler and he loved the main pool downstairs because it had shady parts. If you prefer sun, there is also the rooftop pool - or a private rooftop pool if you choose those rooms (which I thought was well worth it for us with a toddler during nap time). Small gym was helpful. You can rent bikes from the hotel but we didn’t. Overall, I would recommend Copal; it was actually my favourite hotel from our whole trip in Mexico (5 hotels in total). The only thing I would say, at the end of our stay my partner heard someone mention that we could visit Copal’s sister hotel for free. Not sure how true that is but it would have been nice to know since our final hotel was nearby to it.

Staff is so friendly. Everyone was so courteous and check out isnt until 12pm which is a benefit, they arranged a driver for us as well to pick us up from the airport. I will definitely be back. The room was also beautiful and spacious, came with its own pool. We only stayed one night. The food at their restaurant was also very delicious we ate there for dinner and breakfast and they have HOOKAH.

This is my second stay at Copal, and I returned because my first visit was so exceptional. The resort is stunning, featuring two outstanding on-site restaurants. From the moment you arrive, a serene atmosphere envelops you. The staff is incredibly warm and hospitable, ensuring you feel at home. Any shortcomings in service are quickly remediated, showcasing their commitment to guest satisfaction. The location is ideal, with a pharmacy, grocery stores, additional restaurants, and an emergency room all within walking distance in a very safe area. I’m already planning to make this a yearly tradition!

I really enjoyed my stay at Copal. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt to all my requests. The location is in a great area and not that far from the city. I gave this property four stars because of the condition of my door. There were times that I could not lock it, which was kind of scary at night. But other than that, I would definitely stay here again.

It’s a lovely boutique hotel with a great design. It has greenery in the center and a great pool with restaurant that has good food. The upstairs rooftop pool is very nice as well. The neighborhood however, was a mix of people living in shantytown type of living. The cenote behind the hotel would be nice if they picked up the trash, but there’s a lot of it.
