The hotel is in a great location, close to literally everything you want to visit. It’s a very simple room, very clean, only complain is the noise until pass midnight, specially if you are staying in the second floor. Great people at the front desk though!

I loved the room. It was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed. The heater and air conditioning worked well.
My main purpose for visiting Madrid was to go to the museums. The Prado Museum is very close—just across the main road. Many tourist attractions are within walking distance.
There are local restaurants, cafés, and shops nearby. I went to DIA every day to buy food.

Perfect location and reasonably quiet for where it is. I've stayed here many times, on a different floor each time. Though the rooms are always quite different, I can rely on having the same comfortable beds, absorbent towels, and general cleanliness. Staff friendly. I think it's just me, but I always have trouble using the key to get into the building. Once I'm in, the floor and room keys don't give me any trouble. Just the key on the street is tricky, and I don't have the finesse necessary.

The room was clean and had good air conditioning. Check-in process was very easy and the staff were kind. We were also able to leave our luggage with them after check-out.

Awesome place! Love the old building and multiple keys to open multiple large doors! The room had everything needed. It’s essentially a studio apartment without a kitchen. For the price and proximity to Pardo del Prado y Retiro, it’s perfect. Water pressure in the shower was the best I’ve seen in Spain. Worth it. Great experience

This is a low key, older Spanish style hotel. Reasonable cost, very clean, great neighborhood. Small, basic rooms. Owners seem to take pride in what they have created. Highly recommend if you want simple accommodations.

I loved this place! I’ve never stayed at a hostal before but it was really great and exceeded my expectations for someone who was on a budget. It was very clean and comfortable. The house keeping was great, they replaced towels and toiletries regularly. It was the perfect place that was walkable to all places we wanted to go to. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice and clean room with good heating and all we needed for two nights. Great location close to everything but not too crowded area. Old building with thin walls so noises from doors, upstairs neighbours and people waking up and down the wooden stairs can be heard and can bother a bit but at night we were so tired that we slept ok. Some noise from the street during the afternoon as we were facing the front and at street level but at night it was fine.

Outstanding location! Small room but not a problem as we spent most of our time outside. Excellent spot right by El Prado and many walkable areas to enjoy. We were not in the main building but one up the street a bit and the gentleman who checked us in was so kind and helpful he even carried one of our bags for us. Thank you!

This property far exceeded our expectations for an affordable bare bones facility. It had plenty of space and accommodated all of our needs. The room was cheerful and clean. The staff were friendly. The location was central, within walking distance of all the major sites we were seeking and very close to transportation. There was a bit of noise, but not so it disturbed our sleep.

You could likely find slightly cheaper simple rooms nearby, but Hostal Bruna is in a quieter area than most. It is very close to the Prado Museum and train station and you will sleep better.

I loved my stay here! I stayed in one of the single bedrooms with a private bathroom so I cannot speak to the shared dorms but my room was beautiful. The area is perfect to be near all the touristy sights in the city and is also very close to the train station which is super nice to take some day trips from there.

We booked two separate beds, but only got a small room with a full size bed. It was clean and functional. I can see there were rooms with two beds, could be our bad luck.
The hosts are very nice, and allowed us to use their kitchen for food storage.
This out first hostel experience booked by accident, but the experience was very reasonable.

Friendly staff, excellent location for sightseeing in Madrid and close to food stores, pharmacies and restaurants. I was able to take the train from the airport to Atocha Station and an easy walk to the property. It is a smallish room but has a TV, working air conditioning and great water pressure in the shower. Not luxury but excellent for the price.

Great location, close enough to main station but in an area with easy access to restaurants, parks and museums. I walked just about everywhere. As a sole traveller I felt safe.
Room was small and there was no view but the window slid open and it was spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable. Reception staff were helpful and friendly.

Rooms are really small, you can only be in the bed actually. You can here everything from the hall and from other rooms. If you can be waken up easily, this is not a good choice for you.
But - it is cheap, clean, the beds are comfortable and the location is perfect, especially if you come to see Prado as we did.

Hostel Bruna is strategically located, near the train station. We arrived 10am and we were allowed early check-in (which is a great!!!). Domingo is very accommodating, the initial room allocated for us is not that pleasing, he gave us a much better room. Thank you Domingo!

Bruna right next to Prado - clean and friendly

Bruna is a convenient guesthouse that's perfect for monumental visits in Madrid - it is located on a rather quiet alley and a 5-min walk from Padro but it is slightly far from Sol (hustle bustle eateries and clubs), about a 15-min walk. The check-in was easy and very friendly; it's a family-run place and we appreciated their smiles. No refrigerator in the room but the small balcony was perfect for this purpose in December; bedding and bathroom were very clean - good value for the money.

You get what you pay for

Overall not a bad place. Would rate better but check in was a hassle due to person at reception having to look in computer and handwritten ledger.
The next day it was the same issue. No one knew my name when a package was delivered to the hotel for me and now it has to be sent again, overseas. All things considered not a bad place for the price and the location is good.

Other than its location, the hostal is not entitled to the prices I paid. It means that their room rates are
over-rated. In details, I think 20 - 30 % reductions from their current rates sounds reasonable. In Spain the hostal is hotel equivalent, which is different from hostels (youth hostels) or pensions. What I experience this time from Bruna is that they are youth hostel or pension grade at the over-rated room charges.

I LOVED the location of this hotel. Right by the Prado and a great area for hanging out after 8pm (the real party never starts till 10pm though). Only one of the owners speaks English (barely), so if you don't speak Spanish, you may find that to be an issue. I was freezing cold in the room, so an extra set of bedding wouldn't have hurt. I stayed in two locations, the 2nd one (not where the reception is) was nicer. Both were very clean. Both were VERY basic.

great basic hotel in a fantastic location!

it's so nice to find a place that is clean and comfortable that is inexpensive! furnishings are basic and that's good for me if it saves me money. it's maybe a 10 min walk from atocha train station and something like 2 min's from the prado. within a 15 min walk or less you can reach much of central madrid.

there was really only one thing i didn't like...very odd...instead of 2 pillows on the double bed there was 1 really long pillow! i normall put 2 pillows behind me to read in bed and couldn't do that. i was on my own but if i'd been with someone i don't think i'd want to share a pillow! i was only there 1 night so this was a minor negative.

the cafe/restaurant across the street, la plateria, is warm and friendly with a great ambiance. in late november there were heaters at the pavement tables and the 2 dining areas inside were convivial and appealing. i only had a slice or tortilla to go (which was good) so can't really comment on the food but i'll looking forward to returning the next time i'm in madrid.

on the whole i consider hostal bruna a great find!!!

The room was typical size for a Madrid hostal. Although a small room, it still had a double bed, a desk and chair, and a wardrobe/closet with safe. The bathroom was small, but it had a toilet, sink and small tub with handheld shower attachment. Thus, the room had everything needed. The only negative was that even with both windows open, there was no airflow - and since it was a hot weekend, it was not as comfortable for sleeping as one would expect. Otherwise, a satisfactory place to stay - especially when Madrid was crowded with visitors for the final day of the Vuelta a Espana (the 21 day cycling race that follows the Tour de France).

The Hostal Bruna is a really comfortable hotel--very clean, roomy and truly within walking distance of the Prado, Reina Sofia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. The La Plater, across the street, is not only a convenient place to eat, but excellent food (and staff) as well.

I picked this hostal because I was going to arrive in Madrid late in the evening. Postal Bruno is 3 blocks from Atocha station and has 24 hour check-in. The facilities were adequate. I slept 10 of the 11 hours I was there, grabbed a shower and moved on.

Short stay at Hostal Bruna.

A two night stay used mainly to visit the Prado which is very close.
It does not provide food or bar but is on the other side of the street
from a small bar/restaraunt which is open from early morning until late at night which we used and appears to be popular.The weather was cool so didn't notice presence of air conditioning or otherwise.

This is a nice, family owned older residential in downtown Madrid. The Police Station across the street made one feel secure but all the street parking in the area is reserved for police cars. We parked in the Empark underground parking a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is nice and the location is excellent for walking to historical sites. The older "staff" don't speak English but understood my poor Spanish. The younger staff (son?) spoke fluent English. I'd recommend this place.

Tudo perfeito, funcionários, limpeza, próximo de muitos pontos turísticos, fiz muitos pontos a pé, mercados, farmácias, cafeterias, barzinhos, estação a poucos passos. Única observação é que não tem frigobar no quarto e a cortina não escurece o quarto, mas amei e super alugaria novamente. Tudo bem cheiroso, banheiro bem limpo e roupas de cama brancas.

Si eliges este sitio, tendrás lo mejor, la ubicación es provilegiada, el edificio y habiatciones tienen un encanto especial.

Comodas y lo necesario.

Lo mejor es la atención por parte de los dueños. Desde que llegas ye reciben con calidad y calidez, me encantaria regresar solo por el momento tan agradable que tuvimos al llegar.

Pude hacer check in antes sim costo porque habian preparado la habitación con anticipación.

Hay restaurantes de tapas a solo 20 metros de tu habitación.

El museo del Prado y Reina sofia a solo unos metros.

No pude despedirme de los dueños, pero cuando vayan tengan el tiempo de reir con ellos.

Hay aire acondicionado, calefacción, personal de limpieza hace la habitación diario.
