When staying at the NH Madrid Nacional hotel, you will be in a privileged location on Paseo del Prado and steps away from Madrid's Art Triangle. The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia museums are right by the hotel.

The 1920s building was designed by the famous architect Modesto López Otero and is located across the street from the Atocha train station. This means it provides excellent links to everywhere in the city, including the airport.

NH Madrid Nacional has 206 rooms with a choice of classic or contemporary designs. Each features sleek wooden floors and free Wi-Fi.

Some of the rooms come with views of the Atocha Plaza or the Botanical Gardens, while Superior rooms have Nespresso machines, among other extras. The Tablafina restaurant serves up light bites and Mediterranean and Spanish dishes, which you can enjoy along with the lovely city view.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Close to the train and bus station and across the road from Retiro Park. There are lots of restaurants and cafes close by. Walking distance to many of the sites.
I had a twin room with a view of the main road. The room was clean and spacious with a kettle and fridge (we paid extra for these).

It's an old building that they tried to remodel to modern standards, but could've done a more thorough job. For some odd reason, they thought a towel warmer inside the shower was a good idea, but they couldn't put in a shower door that closes all the way; so my towels were toasty and wet, but I was cold while trying to dry off. Also, even though it was March and the weather outside was nice and cool, the room gets hot and stuffy, but they shut off the A/C until summer, so we had to open the windows and it's super loud.

We really liked staying at the Hotel NH Nacional Madrid. The location was perfect, being close to both Atocha and the art museums. The room was very comfortable, and we loved the lemon water in the lobby! Keeping our luggage in the backroom on the arrival and departure days was also a big help. One area for improvement: The temperature in the rooms was too high and could not be reduced by adjusting the thermostat.

Very nice hotel, convenient location. Check-in was fast and pleasant. The room was nice but temperature in it was high, and we couldn’t adjust. The AC or heater was making nonstop noise making it difficult to sleep.

My stay at the NH Madrid Nacional hotel was very pleasant; upon arrival our reservation was not appearing int he system but the front desk staff helped us sort this out. Overall the staff was very friendly, the breakfast buffet was very varied and enjoyable and the area is very close to a subway station, the Atocha station and the Royal Gardens, which makes it very convenient. There are also a variety of museum close by. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location - walking distance to Atocha station, museums, park; the free 001 bus stops out front of hotel so we took that everyday to get to Gran Villa/Callao for shopping.

Beds/rooms were comfy - bathroom was spacious. For the life of me I don't understand why showers in Europe are never fully encased - kept spilling water onto the floor even though I used the handheld shower head.

Parking: there was a lot under the building but the entrance was off the bus lane and the ramp down is SUPER narrow! We had a van because we (group of 6) had driven in from Malaga/Granada but in hindsight, we should've just returned the car to the rental company as soon as we got to Madrid.

Breakfast: Yum! Kids loved the doughnuts and the colouring books staff had set out for them. At 19euros, it was the best (and cheapest) hotel breakfast.

Extra points for the candy jars and water in the lobby - thankfully they removed the candy jars in the evening so we didn't have to deal with sugar rush before bed or the whining to have candy :S

It was my second time in this hotel. I was upgraded this time, but to my surprise it was not an upgrade to me since I prefer a larger room to having a view. My original room was larger and I guess it had no view. Since I was only staying for one night, I didn’t bother to go back to the reception and get my original room.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The room was spacious and quiet. However, there was no tea/coffee maker - an unpleasant surprise from a 4-star hotel. They only offer complimentary water in the lobby till early evening. Breakfast was very good. Though one has to keep in mind that on the weekends it is available only from 8am. If you book any local tours (most start around 9am with meeting points not anywhere close to the hotel), you literally have no time to use the breakfast buffet the property offers.

We had a fantastic experience at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and impeccably maintained, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Its location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Atocha Station, Museo del Prado, and Reina Sofia, so it’s perfect for exploring some of the city’s cultural highlights.

There are also plenty of great food options nearby, which made dining out a breeze. While the room was a bit smaller than we anticipated, it was still very comfortable and well-appointed.
One minor note: the hotel is located near a major avenue, so you can occasionally hear traffic passing by, especially if you’re a light sleeper. For us, it wasn’t a major issue, but something to consider if you're sensitive to noise.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid. It offers the perfect combination of comfort, location, and service!

This is a really well located hotel, with a nice lobby cafe/bar. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and with wonderful views over the botanic gardens from those at the front. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We were travelling with a dog, who was provided with a comfortable bed, bowls for food and water, and an information sheet with dog-related info, including dog-friendly restaurants in the area.

One flaw is that the basic rooms do not provide any tea/coffee facilities.

Nice, modern, clean hotel in an historical building. The service, lobby restaurant and breakfast buffet are all good. The location is very convenient as it is about a 5-minute walk to/from the train station, a couple of the major art museums, and Retiro Park. Plaza Mayor and most other city center attractions are about a 15-minute walk. Our room felt a little small and cramped, but I know this is common in Europe. We did enjoy the balcony. The hotel sits on a busy street, but we did not hear any noise from our room.

Great location, friendly staff, clean hotel, but exceptionally noisy. It is not far from the police station and sirens are frequent. We stayed here in November when the air conditioning was turned off (as is standard in many European countries) so we could not sleep with the window closed as it was too hot. We could not sleep with the window open as it was too noisy so we did not sleep much at all. The hotel was kind and comped our upgrade costs, but I would not stay here again unfortunately.
