Our stay here was not as expected, they can do much better or at least be honest on their advertisement. Our room was nothing like whats depicted on the web page, the room was older, dark inside and out, lighting was horrible. There were also areas where critters can invite themselves into the room at the doorway. The grounds is a bit overgrown and need a bit of a manicure, especially when harmfully creatures reside on these leaves and can easily come in contact when walking down the pathway to you room at night.

The pool at the main dining area needs renovation to meet current standards, obesely its not shown on the pictures on the webpage to deter future guests, no one was using this pool during our stay. Lets move on to the other pools thats either extremely cold or extremely hot. No happy medium here if you're looking to unwind in moderate waters, mostly everyone we talked to didn't have good experience which an amenity we all look forward too while on vacation. Around these pools can also do with a landscape trim and at least remove the hornets nest that resides over your head while trying to acclimate to the hot water for a bit of relaxation, if you can.

The grounds staff was very helpful and kind, they met our expectations and then some. The food was just good in my opinion, no wow moments to talk about.

Everything else was just satisfactory and we made doo, still don't understand how they had so many good reviews when we were booking this location.

We loved our stay at Chachagua! The room was beautiful and we felt immersed in the rainforest, while relaxing in luxery accomodations. The staff was amazing, the hot springs and river slide were definite highlights. Highly recommend and would say that it's worth the drive.

Lovely, comfortable resort in a wonderful rainforest location! Fortuna is very touristy and this hotel is in a great location that's off the beaten path. Great amenities including free breakfast and yoga, hot springs, pool, creek with slides, etc. We had a wonderful time!

We loved staying at Chachagua and would highly recommend it to anyone considering. The property is sprawling, with so much available onsite to enjoy. We took advantage of the coffee and chocolate tour, the cooking class, and the night tour on property. All were excellent. Additionally, Chachagua’s location is perfect for seeing Costa Rican wildlife. In less than 48 hours, we saw nearly everything we had only hoped we would see. The staff are friendly, the onsite guides are amazingly knowledgeable, and the quality of the hot springs are really nice. We also booked tours through the hotel that were in La Fortuna, ~30 minute drive. Those were also well coordinated and well communicated. We can’t say enough good things about our stay!

If you have young kids and want to explore nature without crowds this is the best place. There is swimming in the creek with a water slide. Pool with a water slide and hot springs. The nature tour was so good and we saw so much wildlife at our hotel for free! Very relaxed vibe and we felt like the only guests. It’s a 25 min drive from La Fortuna but honestly so worth it. Definitely one of my favorite hotels we have ever stayed at.

Incredible resort. Would rush back in a heartbeat. We had the cheapest rainforest bungalow and it felt like a suit. Gorgeous bathroom, animals surrounding you, hammock outside was lovely. The breakfast was incredible, the food in the hot springs was excellent and the staff were amazing. Particularly the guides who went out of their way to help you and spot animals and birds for you. The night hike and the free day hike I would absolutely recommend without hesitation. We would not have spotted half the things we saw without the guides. I had my own yoga session with an incredible instructor as even though it was sold out when we were there in December, no one seemed to do many resort activities! The hot springs were great. We used them at various times of the day and had our own one every time. The slides into the river and into the cold pool were fun.
There was construction but this really did not matter and made zero difference to our stay. Wish I was still there!

I would definitely stay here again. The customer service was excellent and very accommodating. My only minor complaint was that the food provided by the hotel didn't serve local dishes, the menus definitely catered to foreigners. I would have preferred to eat their local cuisine.

The treehouse rooms were incredible, with newer furnishings and the amazing walk out to the hot tub in the elevated tree trunk (room 403). Staff were excellent as well and always available to ahuttle you around the property in a cart. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, though it was quite pricey as was the onsite food; even more than would be expected from a local resort. But definately a special property if you want to get away from.it all deep in the jungle, yet still only 25 mins to La Fortuna.

The natural springs had been made into 7 pools with varied water temps and were spent 2 full days enjoying the pools and scenery. This resort is about 45 minutes to la Fortuna and a car is a must to get around but the resort is beautiful and extremely nice staff. We will be back!

Staff were courteous, room was nice with A/C (but no fan in the bathroom), nature trails on property were a bonus, extra activities like the night walk and morning yoga were cool. Tons of exotic animals to see on the property. The one negative thing was that they were doing major construction near the two restaurants which was not expected and super loud from 9am- past sun down. They had the water shut off to the 2 water slides on the last day too due to the construction. It's also a far drive to excursions in La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano.

The room was ok, very clean. There was a methane smell several times, however the staff was quick to respond. The staff and the grounds were excellent! Hot springs were very nice, as was the included breakfast. The rooms are separate cottages set back in the jungle, which was very cool. There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the cottages. Was fine for us, but probably not handicapped friendly

This place was the highlight of our trip in Costa Rica. Usually a hotel is a hotel but these guys are on to something with this place. The property is immaculate and something out of a fairy tale. They offer lots of tours on site if you don’t want to traipse around too far and have more of a relaxed stay. Otherwise it’s not hard to get out to all the places la fortuna has to offer.

If you’re not into driving and don’t want to go into town for dinner, it might be tricky for a longer stay as I imagine you’d get a bit bored of the menus but there’s enough variety between the two that you would be fine. My only annoyance was the speaker phone by the main pool- walkie talkies might make more sense for the staff instead of hearing the loud phone ring over the intercom.

If you want unique and private experience in the middle of the rain forest, this is the place. The room was really phenomenal. The closest town is 25 minutes away so be prepared to spend some time on the way to and from La Fortuna if you want to do any excursions.

We got lost doing the nature hike on property. More signage for the hike and on the property in general would be helpful. also, more lighting. It is pitch dark at night. It was difficult to find our way to and from restaurant at night, which was also dangerous, given not all paths are paved.

Husband and I had a pleasant stay at chachagua. We arrived late at night and was greeted at the front desk with hand towels and fruit juice. Checking in was smooth and we were escorted to our bungalow (make sure to have a high car as you will drive through a low river).

Bungalow was private and very clean. The room was cleaned daily and there was eco friendly hair products and toiletries. Room has a mini fridge, coffee maker and fresh water daily.

Continental breakfast was amazing - at a restaurant on premises. Great selection!

The springs were great- wasn’t a lot of people and we were able to enjoy it solo.

The resort was beautiful and tranquil. You can hear the animals throughout the day esp the monkeys in the morning. We didnt get to see the monkey but we did see a sloth up in the tree- thanks to Ruben (who btw gave a great coffee/ chocolate tour).

Big thank you to all the staff members- from the gentleman who greets you when entering, front desk staff, house keeping, and restaurant waiters/waitresses. All very pleasant and super helpful when we had any questions or concerns.

The hot tub in our room was fantastic! The privacy for the rooms with hot tubs really needs to be improved. The outdoor shower is cool, but not when people can see you from both sides! Same for the hot tub. It also would have been a lot nicer if you could drive yourself to and from your room versus waiting for someone else to get you, especially since sometimes the wait time was lengthy. The hot springs would be more enjoyable if they weren’t right beside the restaurant due to noise and people just sitting there watching you. The water temperature was very relaxing and the water slide into the pool was awesome! Overall the hotel was nice, I just wish privacy would have been considered more in the treehouse room design.

We loved our bungalow in the rainforest and will definitely be coming back! We were very relaxed and loved listening to the sounds of the jungle around us in our private bungalow. The staff was very friendly and the food was all delicious asking with an amazing assortment of incredible drinks. I wish we had stayed longer because they offered so much on the property and a ton of tours and excursions around the area that I wish I had made Chachagua our whole trip. This was a great way to start our honeymoon and made us instantly relaxed.

This property was amazing! The staff is so wonderful and made our stay extra special. We enjoyed the hot springs and all of the tours at the property. Bryan made any and ALL requests so easy, and Reuben took us on a hike and horse back riding trip and they were perfect. We felt a sense of exploration and relaxation all at times. The town of chachaugua is only a short distance away and had a fantastic little soda with pizza and empanadas, and a ice cream shop that had $1 ice cream… I cannot say enough about how special this hotel and staff is. We 100% would return and recommend.

This was the most beautiful, most relaxing, and friendliest place ever. All the staff were so kind and welcoming. Upon checking in, the staff had drinks and towels for us. They showed us to our room and explained how organic and eco friendly everything was. Our room was private with a patio that had a hammock. The pools were clean and relaxing. Not crowded. The food was delicious, they were constantly feeding us. It rained during our trip but it was still so relaxing and we were still able to squeeze in a lot. We did horse back riding, hiked the property on our own, swam. Everything was clean. The staff were so kind and always made sure we were taken care of. I would come back again for a longer stay!

The highlight of this hotel is definitely the hot springs and water slides—they’re well-maintained and fun for both kids and adults. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the good service throughout the property.

Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Our room was extremely outdated, dark, and uninviting. The beds were uncomfortable, the plumbing was old and leaky, and overall, the accommodations felt neglected. It did not match the expectations set by the hotel’s reputation.

We also found the food to be mediocre at best, which led us to drive 30 minutes into town just to get a decent meal—not ideal when you’re hoping for a relaxing stay.

Perhaps we were just unlucky and were given one of the oldest bungalows, but our experience was disappointing enough that we would not recommend this hotel to friends or family. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to check out. I’m surprised by the glowing reviews calling this the best hotel of their Costa Rican trip—it certainly wasn’t for us.

Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were super luxurious for the cost, and our two bedroom/two bathroom, private patio and pool was phenomenal. Staff was beyond just friendly - engaging, curious, fun. The food was excellent, and having rain forest trails and hot springs on the property that were never crowded was awesome. Everything start to finish was outstanding - shout outs to Brayan, Pamela, Jonathan, Dennis, Karen, Fabian, and Anthony in particular - our family really appreciated the hospitality and would recommend to anyone looking for a rainforest adventure.

We stayed in the two bedroom villa with a private plunge pool that was absolutely beautiful and amazing! We were in the middle of the rainforest, the hotel also provided complementary tours of the property where we were able to see so many animals including different species of frogs different trees and sloths! The room had a mini fridge and espresso machine… they did not have a microwave but the local restaurant on site was able to heat up food for my daughter as she is very picky… they also provided multiple tours for an additional fee with transportation included…. Our room was amazing, we also had an outdoor shower that was stunning!
The property beautiful! The road leading to the hotel was very Steve and windy but nothing you can’t handle as long as you’re paying attention.

This was my wife and I second trip to the La Fortuna area. Chachagua is a quaint town a little south and the resort was way off the beaten path in the middle of the rainforest. This was the first time for my mom and her best friend. Just off foot surgery and still a little sore/ swollen. The resort staff went overboard to accommodate her with a shower seat. Use of their wheelchair so she could get around when tired and just amazing every day. The food was top notch, free breakfast was awesome. My family would highly recommended a visit. If you have a chance to visit say hi to Anthony, Patricia, Gettchen with two t’s, Sofia, Lorenzo, Kevin, Pamela, Karen, Jonathan, Kristal, Maicol ( hope you catch some big fish) and Dennis. The ownership should be proud of every one of you. Thank you

The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and in such a unique location. Each bungalow really transports you to a secluded little world in the jungle.
The forest on the property was breath taking. A wonderful experience.
The staff was welcoming, happy to help with all of our questions, and easily set up off-site activities (ziplining, rafting) and transportation to La Fortuna for dinner/shopping.

We were two moms with two kids (11 and 16) and this hotel checked all the boxes for us. Adventure (horseback riding, nature walks, water slides), nature (everywhere) and relaxation (hot springs, hammock, nice dining). Everyone on staff was super nice and welcoming and so were the other guests. It's a little remote but it made us feel like we were sometimes staying by ourselves in the rainforest. Beautiful property in a breathtaking rainforest — truly amazing. If you can splurge on a room with a pool, it makes a huge difference! We were lucky to receive it as an upgrade at check-in, and it was incredible.

We loved staying at the property so much that we ended up modifying our itinerary and canceling a few excursions just to soak in the beauty of the jungle. We stayed for three nights and wished we had a couple more.

The best hotel we stayed in Costa Rica

What a hidden gem! Honestly, the photos don’t do this place justice, it’s even better in person. The vibe is pure Pura Vida from the moment you arrive. The staff are incredibly kind, upbeat, and genuinely welcoming. We only had breakfast and lunch at the hotel, and the food was great, but huge portions.

A tip: before booking any activities outside, check with the hotel first. I really wish we had booked the chocolate tour! We did the cooking class and absolutely loved it — preparing and sharing comida de la abuela made for such a special and authentic experience. Thank you !

Incredible place to stay. So private and as close to nature as you can get with hot water and a bed. The restaurant wood work is beautiful and the coffee flan!!! The hike to the tree is easy and the tree is amazing. Pura Vida!

This was the perfect spot for our family’s first time to La Fortuna and Costa Rica. If you don’t mind the drive into town for activities, which we didn’t at all, this place is quiet and beautiful! We loved sitting at both open-air restaurants and having a drink while our kids swam in the hot springs. The hiking trail and river slide/swimming were beautiful. We saw lots of birds and heard all the cicadas and howler monkeys in the evenings. We would definitely stay again!

This place is an absolute gem! You are truly immersed in the heart of the rainforest, with access to wildlife and the beauty that this part of the world has to offer. You’re about 30 minutes from La Fortuna (the nearest big city) ensuring you true rainforest adventures. Staff are amazing and the food was great. If you’re looking for a relaxing, fun and unique experience; I highly recommend you check this place out.

Overall this place was picturesque... everyone was very helpful went out of their way to make sure everything was just right. The only complaints I have, they were repairing the walkway lights, it was very dark at night, thank God I had a flashlight on my phone. But I did pass an elderly couple who are trying to find their room so I help them. Also their tools were left laying around.
This is only temporary but it did kind of catch me off guard for such a great looking, well kept facility.

The property is glorious nestled in a tropical rainforest. We enjoyed exploring the trails out to the waterfall and Ceiba tree. Amazing surroundings, excellent dining, perfect on-site hot springs to enjoy on demand. In addition to this, we were supported by the hotel team to help us with some rental car trouble while we were there. They went out of their way to assist us, implement a quick repair and got us on our way! Without this dedication to their guests our whole vacation could have been ruined. I highly recommend this property. Thank you Fabian, for your dedication to your guests!

I’ve stayed in many hotels as a frequent traveler, but Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hot Springs is, without question, the best I’ve ever experienced. From the moment I arrived, I was completely enchanted by the lush rainforest surroundings. The sounds of nature, the vibrant greenery, and the abundance of incredible wildlife made it feel like stepping into a dream. I was lucky enough to see so many animals up close—truly unforgettable!

The staff at this hotel are absolutely phenomenal. They were kind, patient, and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. A special shoutout to Lorenzo, who was truly the best of the best! His warmth, knowledge, and attention to detail made my experience even more remarkable. Lorenzo and the rest of the staff were gems and deserve all the praise in the world!

The hot springs and the serene atmosphere provided the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Every moment here felt magical, and I know I’ll cherish the memories I made for the rest of my life. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of the rainforest, look no further.
