The reception staff, one lady in particular, were great. The check in was lovely and the room great. Bed do comfortable and clean, well equipped and bathroom good. A very comfortable room - excellent.

Sadly the lobby / bar restaurant staff let their colleagues down badly. They let the rest of the hotel, and the good experience we had otherwise, down. We had reserved a table and were sat at the table and them ignored for 30 mins (not even offered water or a drink) before we got up and left. We raised the issue with the reception staff, who recommended somewhere else to eat outside of the hotel saying the hotel bar was very busy due to the rain. However there were 50 covers in total and at least 6 waiting staff that I saw - all of whom were walking about actively avoiding eye contact when I tried to catch their attention. So o do. It consider rain to be a good excuse; and we got wet in the rain walking to another place to eat.

I would like to give the reception staff and housekeeping team 5 stars but the restaurant staff 0 stars. They should try harder to not undermine their reception colleagues.

Great location, good food, easy checkin, great housekeeping, helpful on checkout.

Areas to improve - luggage assistance on arrival given stairs, better organization in access to rooftop for hotel guests (was allowed up but only if we stayed in a corner due to allowing an unplanned reservation blocking off the space)

Hotel location is excellent, easy to visit scenic spots. The staff are very friendly and very helpful, especially Anna working in the front desk, she is so patient and answers my questions and gives lots of suggestions which makes our stay and tour easily. Very good hotel. Very professional staff. Definitely I will recommend the hotel to my friends if they travel to Madrid.

The most significant issue was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable, and the bedding and linen felt very low quality for a hotel claiming five-star standards.

The bathroom also had maintenance problems. The shower was leaking, and overall the room did not feel particularly comfortable.

Room service was also problematic. The staff taking orders did not appear to speak English sufficiently to handle basic requests. When we ordered food, we had to repeatedly explain that I have a dairy allergy. This resulted in several calls back and forth, and we were never confident that the request had been properly understood. Ultimately, I could not eat the food because of this uncertainty.

At one point, when we asked to be transferred to the kitchen to clarify the order, the staff inadvertently connected us to another guest staying in the hotel. Later, during checkout, we noticed that we had actually been charged for that call.

Although the staff eventually apologized and said it was an oversight, the charge should have been removed immediately after the incident occurred, especially since they were aware of the mistake at the time. Leaving it on the bill until checkout felt careless and unprofessional.

Overall impression
For the price and the five-star classification, the hotel fell well short of expectations. The overall experience did not justify the cost of the stay.

Great hotel, at a great location. Access is easy and convenient. Lots of people coming in and going out. A bit overpriced in my opinion. It is up to date, but could definitely use an upgrade or two in order to justify the price. The restaurant is pretty decent, and tends to get busy. Had it not been for the fat rate, I'd have gone for 5-stars.

Initial disappointment for not getting the requested room type (despite pleas in advance via the website customer service and through expedia). Room was changed on second night.

Some oversights in the housekeeping (used glasses not removed/replaced, mini bar not re-stocked).

Some front of house staff, particularly the males, unfriendly and welcoming demeanor.

Great location and overall a nice hotel if the price is right.

Excellent hotel right in the heart of Madrid. As it's positioned just off the main road it is surprisingly quiet. Had a wonderful night's sleep. The only downside is there door to our room was right opposite our bed and wasn't soundproof so you could hear the other doors in the corridor banging in the morning.

How ever large room was massive walk-in shower. Large bed, but it was two single beds pushed together yet they beds have separate bedding so not made up as a double bed which was requested. Still made up as two single beds which wasn't ideal.

Reception team were very helpful and friendly.

There is a rooftop terrace bar but not the best. Little but tired looking and not really comfortable or romantic. The only let down to the hotel but there are several rooftop bars within walking distance that have better settings so went there instead.

Due to the proximity and the friendly team we would stay here again. I would just ask for a different style of room that doesn't have the door right opposite the bed.

The hotel was very nice. Odd layout that you enter the hotel and have to climb a load of stairs with heavy suitcases to get to the reception desk. Check in process and staff member was extremely cold and robotic. Failed to mention the roof top terrace was closed which was a massive let down and they were just dismissive of this. Room was spacious but shower leaked everywhere. Great location but that's about it.

Cons: staff was very loud early in the morning, tossing things around and shouting at each other. Every morning. There was a problem with a sink that was corrected fairly quickly
Pros: location is great, priced at a decent rate and overall stay was very pleasant. Rooftop bar if very nice.

Overall: for a 5-stars hotels the room - more specifically the shower was very rustic, heavy loud door and super rough edges

This is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location but we felt they were more interested in non-residents. We were disappointed with both the rooftop bar and the basement bar which we felt catered more for non-residents, especially at the weekend. The bar in reception did however meet our needs other than the occasion where a private function meant we had to go elsewhere for a drink. Other than that the staff were always very good and the room was also good, although hard to say that it was premium. We were however irritated that the window was broken and we were unable to open it. The hotel did say that they would see whether we could move the following day but it was apparent from outside that non of the external rooms had windows that opened. Sad to say that if we returned to Madrid we would stay elsewhere.

Not 5 star

Our shower door leaked & water was everywhere in bathroom & water ran into toilet cubicle.
We had to cover floor with towels each time we used shower.
It was obviously an on going problem because the bedroom floor outside the bathroom was damaged so this showed water leakage from a long while back.
Certainly not good enough for a 5 star hotel.
Hotel seemed like it needed refurbishment.
On arrival the sink was blocked but that was sorted straight away.
Location was great & so were staff but not 5 star.
Nice view from room.

SIGNIFICANT JEWELRY STOLEN BY STAFF

The absolute worst possible way to end an otherwise amazing trip, as my wife and I got 4 pieces of jewelry stolen (including my wedding ring), worth more than $6K from our room by the hotel's cleaning staff. We know the culprit was effectively from the hotel staff because we found out the jewelry was missing while packing that night and decided to spend our last night there reporting the crime to the Spanish Police. Once back home, we were contacted by the Spanish Police to inform us that they had caught the employee as he still had one of the pieces in his possession. To make matters worst, we expected more from the hotel management, to at least offer some sort of relief for our grievances, but it has now been about 4 months and they never even had the decency to reach out to apologize for their employee's actions. They knew we were leaving the next day and were probably hoping we did not find out in time to report the crime to the authorities, so how do we know if the employee that got caught acted alone? We will never know, but we hope you don't choose to find out. Stay here at your own risk.

Doesn’t feel like a 5 star hotel

The hotel is showing its age. Everything just looks worn out.

Also the acoustics is not ideal. We could hear the alarm clock of the room next to us, and so did we hear their couple “quality time”.

The lobby smell and scent is just awful and overwhelming.

It didn’t feel like a five star hotel, for the price we paid.

On the plus side, the AC worked really well, hot water was always available, The cleaning services were perfect, and the location is unmatched. Too bad it didn’t feel
Like a luxury experience. Only book this hotel for less than 200 euro a night, it doesn’t worth more than that.

Nothing unique. A good hotel but not sure we would say 5 star. The staff were very friendly/helpful but our check-in was poor despite having checked-in online prior to arrival. Our room wasn't ready at 15.00 when we arrived. We had to go for a walk - about an hour - before we could check-in and then to an identical room but not the one booked online.
