My check-in experience: I arrived to find the owner checking in a German couple. They needed to park a car and she was “trying” to explain where they should park. It made very little sense to any of us yet she just kept saying the same thing over and over in an irritated voice. Thinking it was partially a language issue, I tried to assist by translating into German but was stopped by the B&B owner who told me to “stay out of her business”. Exact words. For trying to help the couple understand why they had to move their car. Eventually the German couple were checked in as was I. As I was walking up the stairs, she was asking the German woman she had just berated, in a sickly sweet voice, whether she was ok. It was grotesque.
The room was clean. The location decent for Hadrians Wall. Plenty of food at breakfast. No A/C, no fan. One of which was needed. Shower very tiny. I’m smaller; it would be tough for a larger person. But either way, I don’t recommend this place. No one should have to deal with that kind of behavior.
FYI, there was a man on my 2nd morning who served breakfast who was genuinely friendly and helpful.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Adele was friendly on our arrival. Room was clean. Bathroom down the hall was clean. Heating worked. Room servicing was good. Breakfast became unexpectedly unavailable but we found great food at a good price just down the road. Stairs are steep and narrow which could be an issue if you have mobility issues or over packed.

A warm welcome awaited me at this beautiful guest house. Immaculately decorated & very clean & tidy. A comfortable room (No 6) with all the facilities i required including a spotlessly clean ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice along with prompt, attentive & polite service. The railway station & city centre shops, bars & restaurants are a short stroll away. An enjoyable stay.

We arrived for a 2 night stay. The owner seemed a little agitated. We were given a parking permit & breakfast choice sheet, with our name & room number already completed. She was insistent we chose a specific time for our breakfast as she was cook & waitress. The entrance hall & stairs were clean. The bedroom & en suite were a good size, clean & the beds comfortable.
Next morning we arrived in the dining room where others were sat. Cereal etc. was available for self service.
The yoghurt was at room temperature & not pleasant. The clearly flustered owner then appeared,& complained guests had completed their breakfast sheets incorrectly with the wrong names & room numbers so confusing her & making the service difficult. I tried to help by sorting the sheets at which point I was asked whether I could cook & would I help in the kitchen. I declined. The service was a disaster with no one getting their food of choice.
When we returned that evening there was a note from the owner apologising that she had gone/was going to hospital and that breakfast would not be available the next morning. She left £15 cash per room as a refund for the breakfast, whether there was 1 or 2 people in the room. For some reason, there was only £10 for us.
We think the owner is either unwell or unable to cope with the demand of cooking & serving multiple guests.
Whether a cook would help is anybody's guess. Unfortunately, we would not recommend staying here and hope the owner gets the appropriate help.

We had a room in the attic which was weird and wouldn’t recommend. The shower dribbled, the water was only lukewarm.
The host was very friendly but sadly due to personal circumstances she didn’t provide breakfast.

There was noone there to check us in. After meeing my obligations for the stay (payment and arrival before 9pm) we couldn't get into the room. We had to find other accommodations right away. Normally not a big deal but we were on motorcycles and it was raining heavily and cold so it was dangerous too. I would have left it at that until she refused a refund claiming I never paid. Then lied to Expedia support that we did stay. Finaly got it resolved after 3 weeks. Nice house. Very bad inn keeper who has no business being in the hospitality industry.

Very welcoming reception from the host. We stayed for two nights and had a fantastic cooked breakfast each morning. My wife is coeliac and was well catered for. This B&B is ideally suited for the city centre, has close transport links and also provides on-street parking.

I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous B&B in Carlisle

Lovely B&B. The building is grand and the rooms are big and airy. Free WiFi, iron and board, huge bathroom, dressing table with cotton wool balls etc Breakfast was lovely, full English, cereal, fruit and yoghurt nothing was too much trouble. If we are ever back in Carlisle we will stay here again 😊

This is a lovely place to stay, and ideally located for onward travel. Host is so friendly, room was basic but comfortable. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for breakfast but it smelt great as I left! Will definitely return. Very good price for breakfast and parking (not on site but close) included.

This is a beautiful old house, immaculately clean and tidy.
It was a bit awkward when we first arrived because we were unsure of where to park. You can only check in at 3-9 and we were going to the races at 2pm we did ring the bell and the lady answered she was a bit stressed because she was busy but gave us a parking permit and said we can park in any A zone - maybe this could be explained better on the website. I did call 3 days before and left a message but no one called me back. However when we returned later to check in the lady was lovely, the rooms are perfect, clean and everything you need.
Breakfast was great and service spot on.
I would definitely stay here again.

Distance from railway station was not .5 km but much further. Dragging a suitcase that distance over uneven cobble stones was very hard.

The amount of stairs that have to be climbed was a lot for a person of limited mobility and there was no staff help in taking the luggage up them.

The breakfast was great and the room was lovely and quaint. I would recommend the property to others as long as you can do the stairs!

Highly recommend

Had a Fantastic stay. My host gave me a very warm welcome and looked after me well. The room was comfortable, very clean and quiet. I was in a room on the upper floor and the velux window had a black out blind which ensured I slept right through till morning. Breakfast was a full English as well as a good choice of cereals, toasts hot and cold drinks. I would definitely stay here again if I travelled to Carlisle.

Adele was brilliant and checked me into a lovely room. The hotel was perfect and all was great until on check out I sent Adele personally my money for the room which she left on an invoice as she had Covid on the side. 4 days later the amount for the hotel which I booked on Expedia came out of my credit card. I’ve paid £328 for what was supposed to be £169, tried to contact and be polite. 0 response. This is a real shame

We had a very large room which was clean and well presented. Parking in the street was convenient with a free parking permit and we enjoyed the walk into the city. Unfortunately the host was unwell and cooked breakfast was unavailable that day so can't comment on it. We enjoyed our stay in Carlisle.

This is one of the nicest B&B’s I have ever stayed in. The house was beautifully decorated and very tasteful. Our room was very large as was the bath. Everything about this property was excellent. I highly recommend it to future travelers.

Very good for the price, room was clean and comfortable and a reasonable size with a decent shower. Host was friendly and provided a good cooked breakfast in the morning. Can't comment on parking as I was travelling by train, but would happily stay here again.

Excellent room. I stayed one night on my way down South. My room was up in the attic with an on-suite. It was nicely heated, clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom had good water pressure and was very clean. Breakfast was great. 👍 The location was very convenient, just a short walk to shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Lovely cobblestone street and houses surrounding. Parking was just fine, I just parked in the street and upon checkin I was given a parking permit to put in the window. Last my host was lovely and likewise the staff at breakfast.

Lovely, convenient B&B

Stayed for three nights during some work I had to do in Carlisle. It is an excellent location, 5 minutes from the centre.

I judge 3 things at a B&B:

Bed - Very comfy, clean and with a nice warm duvet.
Breakfast - Very tasty, substantial, with good quality ingredients. Loved it.
Shower - Many B&Bs struggle to maintain a good water pressure in the shower. Not the case here, excellent pressure.

Overall this is an excellent B&B and I will be returning next time my work takes me to Carlisle.

Welcoming stay in Carlisle

We've stayed here before and because we were made so welcome it was our first choice to stay again in Carlisle. Our room was spacious, there is a double and single bed. Fab Greek restaurant within walking distance (booking req) . All Carlisle has to offer less than a mile away. Thanks Adele we loved our weekend trip J + C

Spotlessly Clean B&B

A lovely stay - the room was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed and an amazing shower. Cooked breakfast was ok - not amazing (you had to make your own toast, which isn't a problem, but on checking the bread, unfortunately it was all out of date! Not sure if it had been defrosted but even then having 'reduced' stickers and 'basics' range bread isn't acceptable in my opinion). However, I would recommend staying here as it's very convenient to walk into Carlisle, with parking on an adjacent road, and good value for the price paid.

The host and owner was very nice, gave us parking pass and were able to park nearby, she prides herself on everything being clean and it was! She made an incredible English breakfast . Highly recommend if you are in the area. If you have any issues with climbing stairs I would let her know so she can put you on the 2nd floor and not the third. Enjoy !

Arrived to a lovely warm welcome from the owner.
The room was comfortable and spacious ( only niggle the bed creaks)
Huge bathroom enjoyed a lovely soak in the bath!
Very clean and well maintained.
Gorgeous original victorian / edwardian features around the house.
Great cooked breakfast.

Very close to city center so easy to find places to eat in the daytime and evening.
