Located in a quiet suburb of Carlisle, just a 10 minute walk from the city centre, this family-run Victorian Hotel offers cosy accommodation with free Wi-Fi and parking. The property is composed from a series of old Victorian style terraces and is situated on the remains of an ancient Roman Fort.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Everything was spotless and cleaned to high standard. On entering the lady on reception couldn’t be anymore helpful with a smile. The room was spacious and very comfy. Plenty of coffees teas etc. Evening food delicious. I cannot fault this lovely hotel and hope to be back. Breakfast was amazing. 20 out of 10

What stood out most was the consistency and comfort. This was another three night stay for me and once again the room was great with no issues at all. Even without an upgrade, everything was clean, comfortable and exactly what I needed.

One day I forgot to put my “Do Not Disturb” sign up while I was out, and I came back to a room that looked brand new again. The housekeeping team did an amazing job. Everything was spotless and refreshed, which was such a nice feeling to return to.

The hotel continues to provide a peaceful, reliable stay, which is why I’ll be booking again for the rest of my placement.

What really stood out was the thoughtfulness of the staff. I’m currently on placement working night shifts, so sleeping during the day is essential for me. The team went out of their way to upgrade my room and ensure it was quiet, which made such a difference to how rested I felt for my shifts.

The breakfast was also fantastic – fresh, well stocked, and a perfect start (or end!) to a long working day.

It’s the combination of kindness, professionalism, and comfort that’s made me decide to book here for the rest of my placement.

Fantastic hotel, very centrally located within walking distance to the shops and parks. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the suite which is very comfortable and clean. The shower is amazing and there is a tv with Netflix. Also the breakfast is very good with hot and cold food available. We loved the fact that there was a car park included which is brilliant if you are driving. We definitely would recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Carlisle or other surrounding areas.

The hotel itself is very nice and the bar and restaurant was great. The room was lovely, plenty of space and well furnished. The reason I gave this an average score was because I had a really poor sleep due to the noise from the road. I thought the windows were open but they weren’t, they were just old and didn’t close fully. There was also a cold draft blowing into the room. Being next to a very busy road, new windows must be a priority.

This was my second stay at this hotel. Modern clean rooms, great buffet breakfast, friendly staff. The location is very convenient, good parking and easy to walk into the centre of Carlisle without all the issues of parking in the town centre. Great location for walking in Rickerby & Bitts Park. This is now my 'go-to' hotel for staying in Carlisle.

Friendly, helpful service. I called ahead to arrange a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the team had already arranged for complimentary chocolates and arranged the towels.

Only negative was lukewarm water in the shower, it was alright from the basin tap, so maybe a faulty shower mixer.

Little issue with getting wrong room when we got there was fixed quickly. Be warned there is no lift and quite a bit of stairs, was fine for us. Breakfast buffet was really good with all the parts of an English breakfast. We walked to downtown Carlisle easily. Excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding in hotel restaurant.

I was staying in the hotel whilst my dad was in a nearby hospital having experienced a stroke. The staff went above and beyond and were very flexible about extending my stay and letting me work in the function room etc. The local area is also very nice especially the fish and chip shop and Indian restaurant and pub across the road.

Great little hotel, only a one night stay for business. Plenty of parking, lovely dinner and breakfast which was self serve so no waiting. The customer care team were great, my suitcase was carried to my room as i have a bad ankle. At breakfast the team kept checking the food so you didnt end up with hard fried eggs.Woild definitely stay again.

They had a fan in the bedroom which came in very handy as it was an extremely warm day/night. Room was very clean and had a lovely touch with complimentary bottles of water and biscuits. Breakfast was everything you would look for in morning. Thank you for a lovely stay again. Will definitely be back next year!!

The family room has a couple of doors which lay open to the eves and the boiler, which could prove a bit of a problem if you have a wandering toddler, but the hotel could fix that with simple bar locks on each door, high up so the toddler cannot reach it. The family room (room 56) gathers flies overnight, so i would recommend using the shower the evening before. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Service was good and staff were friendly, the room was clean and tidy but needs attention.

The mattress was old and needs replacing, the springs sunk as soon as you got in and there was a big lump in the middle of the bed.

The bathroom floor had tears in the lino, screws visible where the subfloor was rotting and the shower leaked reducing the pressure leaving it a bit more than a dribble.

Again, if it wasn’t for the staff, there wouldn’t be much of a reason to visit.
