Lovely traditional pub with comfortable accommodation. We a a room in the stable block. Comfy bed and good shower. We found the room a bit dark, would have liked some brighter lighting as an option. Breakfast was very tasty. Staff considerate and friendly. I would recommend. I only booked as I got a discount, it is a little pricey for what you get.

The pub is located in a picturesque village (even though it's only a short distance from a major MOD site.) We were made very welcome, and all of the facilities were great. Our room was just what we needed, breakfast was very nice and well presented, and the room was comfortable. The only issue would be if you had limited mobility as there were narrow stairs in the old building. However, there were some accessible rooms in a separate building.

Gorgeous pub stay!!!

We had a lovely stay!!!! The room was spotless, beautifully decorated with all.the amenities and added extras you could wish for!! The pub itself was lovely - clean with friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Two nice outdoor seating areas, and the beer garden itself was fully enclosed - great for dogs and kids. Hotel and pub were dog friendly. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice of hot and cold offerings! Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again!

Accommodation was fine for a an overnight stay.

The staff were very nice and helpful. Travelled there by train, would have helped if I'd known the hotel was some distance from the unmanned station of Aldermaston, with onsite taxi service and I was unable to grab a cab.

What an amazing find! This place is a joy to stay in. We had a four poster bed which was spacious and firm, perfect for us. Being an old building there is no air con and so the Dyson fan was a nice touch and well needed. The creaky floorboards added to the charm but take note if that’s not your thing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and well presented, water, fridge and coffee machine in the room meant we felt very looked after. Would recommend and definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay. Relaxed and fun. Staff super friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Only dropped a star as we had a main course and shared a pudding which took over 2hrs all in all. We laughed about it, I can only assume there was a drama in the kitchen and that's 2hy we waited so long. Still, doesn’t put us off, we'd stay again

Very pretty, clean and well equipped room in a beautiful Country Pub setting. Good selection of breakfast items (I didn’t have the cooked breakfast) Lovely, warm room with fab shower. There was a quiz night when I was there but nothing could be heard from the room. Very friendly staff.
Couple of very small things to note, The room I was in got very noise when traffic started to pass along the road to the front. Toaster in breakfast room took about 4/5 goes to even warm the sour dough bread. I did mention this and was told they were aware. Water in the earn used for tea wasn’t hot enough for me personally.

Good enough location but tired decoration.

Nice enough pub. (Although £32.00 for 2 pints and 2 double vodka and Coke is a tad on the expensive side)
The public areas on the way to the rooms are very tired and need painting / new carpet. The room we were in (4) was ok except for the iron having a damaged plug and the water in the shower and taps being dangerous. If you run the water every 10 seconds or so the water stops and then starts again and it’s scalding hot for half a second - bit of a shock when in the shower!

The staff were lovely, we really could not fault them. The place itself was quaint. However, the food service was quite slow, and while some of the food was great, there were a couple of disappointments - one of the desserts was like rubber, sadly.

While the place itself is nice and the staff really try hard, here are a few suggestions:

* Warn tall people about very low ceilings for some rooms when booking so they can consider options...
* If a very large party is dining as a one off, potentially reduce service or close the restaurant to other diners as the wait can be a little silly.
* Potentially chat with the cleaning staff as the rooms were pretty grubby in places - our socks were a bit gross from walking around the room.
* It sounds entitled, but maybe consider nicer bread at breakfast or at least for the cooked/hot menu options. Sliced (pre packed?) bread is not very 2024, maybe consider at least having sourdough for the main dishes :/
* Maybe switching from concentrated to fresh orange juice might be a low cost way of also improving the experience.
* Maybe it's not solvable as it's an old setup, but the plumbing is a bit off - the shower kept starting and stopping and going hot/cold.

I think we might have paid over the odds for our room, and maybe at the normal price point this is alright, but for >£200 a night it wasn't quite up to the standard of other hotels we've stayed in at that price. It was fine, but we won't be going out of our way to return. Sorry!

Excellent venue. Staff were really friendly and courteous. Good beer. Lovely evening meal. We were there on a Tuesday night which is quiz night. Really good fun and entertaining. Breakfast was also excellent. Would not hesitate to stay at the Hinds Head again if we are in the area

We were in room 2. Probably closest to the main road. Sash windows would not shut properly and without secondary glazing the traffic noise kept us awake so despite a nice room and a very friendly service we didn’t sleep well. When we mentioned it in the morning , whilst listened to politely there was no empathy or apology which was disappointing.

The good. The rooms were very Barker and stonehouse in style which we liked. There must have been a good use of photo shop on the exterior of the property as it was very tired. Breakfast was good as well not the best i have had. Dont order poached eggs if you want them runny as mine were like bullets. The bad. My wife was overcharged on her drinks a medium wine nd 1/2 of Fosters was £14.40 but she never gets receipts. We explained to the young girl serving at the bar and she said a large wine was £13.10 so that made my Fosters £1.10. I told her we had been charged £9.30 for a medium wine and a pint of Fosters by mistake but she didnt really get it and didnt seem interested. We also went to a Primal scream concert at the Mount in wasing which was half a mile away. We tried to book a taxi to come back it was quoted at £35 to £40 as they come from outside the village. We took our lives in our own hands and walked like many others. There was some pavement at the start and finish but nothing in between. I think this hotel was overpriced even though we saved £30 on the expedia App still £191 for a night we arrived at 2.45 pm to check in but our room wasnt available If we go again i would stay 3 miles away for £120 less and drive to the venue.

Disappointing breakfast service

Room was great everything you needed and clean. Service was disappointing at breakfast. 7am start and I had 25min to get a drink and hot food, however on arrival there was no coffee or milk to have some cereal. This arrive at 7:15 so helped myself to some cereal as I would now not have time to eat and hot food. I was then asked at 7:20 if i want hot breakfast but declined due to time. If breakfast is going to served from 7am then guests should be able have a hot drink and meal within 30mins. As this was a business trip I needed to be elsewhere for a meeting. Not a great start to the day.

Mixed - overall disappointing.

I've stayed at the HH before. When it works, it's great - good vfm, friendly, comfortable, good food. However, there were a few issues with the hotel last time I stayed (I was a regular for a few weeks). When I knew that I needed to stay locally again, I gave the HH the benefit of the doubt. I wish I hadn't. The problems started when my colleague complained about her room, concerned about the noise from the next door room through the partition wall. She said she could hear everything in the room next door \"it was like they were in the room with me\". There were no other rooms available, so I offered to swap rooms as I am not too bothered about noise. However, she was right. The wall between rooms 2 and 3 is very thin. Let's just say I spent the night listening to a noisy couple. I didn't sleep well and felt self-conscious. My disappointment was compounded when I came down to breakfast and the door to the restaurant was locked and the lights were off. When I complained about it that evening, no apology was offered and I was told that it was down to \"human error\". I asked for a refund for the missed breakfast and was asked \"How do you want make that happen?\" (no apology). I did get my dinner refunded by £11 and was put in a quieter room for my second night. I had an excellent breakfast the following morning. In conclusion, I have decided I can't stay n the HH again nor can I recommend to colleagues they do the same. It can be great but it is too risky.

The property was not clean and lacked a real attention to detail. It was a disappointing stay and didn't warrant the price charged.
There was no milk in the room and house keeping hadn't cleaned the coffee machine so it had old capsules. Breakfast was no better as the staff had nothing stocked. It took much longer because it took 3 requests to get bread for the toaster!
The room did benefit from a fan and this did keep it cool.

The Hind's Head is OK, the room was comfortable, the shower was good.
But ... the room was cold (had to sleep in extra layers), bed is a double not even a king, there was a power cut (I guess not the property's fault), no breakfast was available in the morning, the chap on reception was kind of off-hand, bordering on rude.
And .... despite promising to get in contact in order to refund my breakfast, they did not do this.
I really want to like this pub with rooms .... but I won't be coming back.

We booked this hotel for a getaway to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! We arrived earlier than the 3pm check in time and the lovely lady on reception didn't hesitate to inform us that as our room was ready we could check-in early. Throughout our stay the staff were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for the Sunday lunch recommendation Jack!!........The food was amazing. A lovely relaxing weekend and we will definitely be back!

Very picturesque village and the pub fits right in. They took very special care to social distance and managed to get us into dinner even though we had not pre-booked. Staff were very friendly, even down to the cleaners, which is unusual. Would definitely want to come back.

Troubles checking in only one person working bar/restaurant/checkin. Very pleasant young man tho. Room was on 3rd floor narrow small stairs with low roof. Lost power for 7hrs. No extra blankets, no flashlights, candles nothing provided. Halls did have emergency lights nothing for rooms. No water for 8hrs couldn’t use restroom. No employees at property after 9pm. On your own! Not as expected when booked.In the morning one young woman working restaurant/bar and checkout couldn’t process our checkout said they would do it later and email a receipt. 3days now still no receipt.

Very nice room with typical english charm. Not sure about the shower stall in the bedroom with clear glass walls! Little things like a hook to hang a towel, or something to place a second suitcase on (rather than the floor) would be a good idea. Breakfast selection was great. Nice bar area for cocktails. We did not stay for dinner so cannot comment there. Staff very friendly and professional. Plenty of parking.

Stopped here many times, love the pub, location and the quality of the rooms are amazing, well done to Fullers Brewery. However, the food is very hit and miss, plus the attitude of a particular member of staff is very 'direct'. Some would say rude and certainly lacks a customer centric approach.
After this last trip, I will join the rest of my work colleagues and stay somewhere where I'm not made to feel slightly intimidated by her. Our other staff made the move after experiencing the same poor service and bad attitude.
Also, be aware that if its quiz night, you will be well down the list of priorities when it comes to simple manners or service.
Its a shame, as its just one person, but she's always there.

the hotel is central for us, not overcrowded and quaint. unfortunately we were in the Blessington room which is right at the top of the building, we're elderly and I found climbing the narrow winding stairs quite demanding. I think we should have had a £20.00 refund on that.
Breakfast was ok. My tea was poured out for me which is a nice touch but unfortunately it hadn't had time to brew. Staff were pleasant and courteous.
