Only issue was on floor 2, the showers had no water pressure at any tome of the day! We had a few rooms and all the same. Spoke to reception and just told they'd get someone to look into it. Was there for a few days and it never got any better, just a dribble.

We’ve stayed at this hotel before so when coming to help some friends, we thought we’d book back there again given, last time, it was fine for the amount paid. Saturday though will absolutely be the last time. On booking the hotel we could only get a twin room, for one night we were ok with that. We arrived to be told that there were at least 2 Christmas parties taking place, so it would be loud until at least 1am. On our previous visit there had been a wedding so we thought that although we’d have preferred to be told on booking so we’d have the option to go elsewhere, that it would be ok.

We got to the room which looked like it hadn’t been touched for at least 15 years. Looked fairly clean so, again, thought it’s only one night so it'll be fine. Then we went to use the shower, which had a curtain which looked liked somone had been murdered againt it, not great at all but we carried on, then the beds, which were absolutely HORRENDOUS. They were the most uncomfortable mattresses we’ve ever felt.

Not for me. Got rid of two flies when i arrived (windows were closed) and had to deal with 4 more before i went to sleep, with a feint buzzing still annoying me as i nodded off.
Shower was practically non functional, coughing up water like it had some kind of lung disease.
Staff were pleasant when present. I made 3 calls to reception for 1 issue. The phone rang out until it cut off twice.

Review of hotel Georgian house hotel Bolton

Only a long weekend stay staff were friendly a bit noisy on the first evening in the bar due to football coaches watching the international, breakfast was exceptional the lift was unavailable and had been for sometime. The interior could be improved our room although was clean looked dated and not enough electrical sockets for modern users with electronics. Car park could do with being marked with lines, and the outside garden could do with some .maintenance

This is a poor hotel. The room was very small and too hot. We opened the window to find a bank of air conditioner fans outside and the noise was awful. Had a close the window to sleep. The shower over the bath was awkward to use and the shower curtain just kept sticking to you. A screen would be better. We paid for breakfast but a waste of money. Food was lukewarm at its warmest! Definitely don't do breakfast, better options on Middlebrook.

Not sure where to start with this one!
Some of these issues are clearly outside of the hotels control, but many could have been resolved.

Lets start: the hotel was probably amazing in 1980, however, the decor looks like it hasn't been touched since. The bathroom was a throwback to a by-gone era! Toilet flush was intermittent at best, shower was little more than a trickle of mildly-warm water.
The walls / floors were so thin (or poorly sound insulted) that my partner and I heard every word of next doors conversations, and then the unfortunate situation of hearing some very strong toilet habits from the room above us!
The bed was tiny and possibly the most uncomfortable thing I've tried to sleep on in years.
No air-con / ability to cool the room down & it was roasting hot in there.
Children running / screaming up and down corridors (which I know is outside of the hotels control, but didn't create a great impression) just added to the general misery of the hotel.
Breakfast was half price during our stay, and I still over paid for it! I wasn't sure it was possible to ruin hash browns, but whoever was in charge of cooking breakfast, surely managed it!
The only positive from the hotel was how pleasant and friendly the staff were during our stay.
Overall, would avoid like the plague.

Staff try hard but it was not great!

Lovely room but had a steady and loud machinery hum most of the time. Food a little mediocre with warm bread rolls evidently previously frozen. At breakfast when I commented on the dry large stain on the table cloth at 8 am the lady said the tablecloth had been clean on the day before and they'd been open since 6.30am!

Management need to plan better

We used this hotel for a reunion of about 35 people. Also booked in was a wedding party. Both the Fri and more so on Saturday they ran out of most of draught beers and lagers! Having to mix our drinks is not good. Lack of planning by management. Staff behind the bar were excellent and apologetic even though it was not their fault. Very disappointed on that aspect of the service.

The check-in was the only part of our stay I can genuinely praise. The room was booked for two people but was only prepared for one. It was extremely hot, and despite turning off the heating and opening the windows, the temperature remained unbearable. It wasn’t until well past midnight that someone finally came to the room, only to suggest we open the window a bit more.

We were told we could check out late, which turned into another disaster. A very rude young lady nearly kicked the door down at 11am normal check out tome and abruptly told us to leave. When we asked to speak to a manager at the front desk, we were told the night staff had indeed passed on the late check-out message but no manager was available.

I was assured that the manager would contact me. We’re still waiting… Yep, still waiting. I’ll update this review if that ever changes.

We arrived at the hotel quite late in the evening and were given our room without any issues. While the room was clean, it was incredibly dated and, more importantly, had paper-thin walls. We could hear everything happening in the rooms around us.

I went to reception to ask if anything could be done, and to their credit, they offered us a room swap. However, while I was discussing options with the receptionist, my partner texted me saying the couple next door had started having sex - and it sounded like they were in the room with him. Not exactly the relaxing night we had in mind.

We accepted the room change, but unfortunately, the new room wasn't much better. It was uncomfortably hot (no air conditioning in the hotel), and with a busy street right outside the window, opening it for fresh air only meant dealing with traffic noise.

I appreciate the staff’s willingness to help, but overall the experience was poor and I would not recommend staying here.

So sadly rundown and disappointing.

We have used this hotel previously and have always been pleased. However now it feels so run down- this hotel is in much need of renovation. The pool is poor and in much need of renovation and decoration. The breakfast was tasty but so sparse and we had to ask for items to be refilled. Lack of staff- the staff on reception were unfriendly and I felt like I was bothering one lady to request some towels.
On the night we arrived we had no heating and the room was freezing cold. This was not fixed for our entire stay and we were given some oil heaters. There was no apology for this or refund.
Overall the hotel had a joyless feel like it is being rundown ready for closure.

When I arrived, it was clear there was a large party taking place. There were large groups of people standing in the doorways smoking and the entire building stunk of smoke. When I asked at reception, I was informed that the party would stop at 12:30 am. When I got to my room, it was directly above the event smelt of smoke and I could hear the music Word for Word. I was so disappointed with the condition of the hotel the attitude of the Staff and the expectation that anyone could sleep in such an unsanitary and noisy environment I left and booked another hotel. Do not stay at this hotel if you can afford to stay elsewhere.

Tired and old but functional rooms. Did have a mouldy smell and the heating isn’t customer led so we had no heat in the room. Bed was comfortable plenty of towels and bedding. Curtains were dirty and need replacing. Bathroom had a shower curtain which did look used.
Pool and spa facilities were ok but again very dated and needs a good scrub. Bar area lovely as were the staff. Breakfast other than needing to keep asking for the food and plates to be replenished was excellent.

A good night's sleep ruined by extremely loud plumbing.
What do you want from a hotel? A good night's sleep. I could sleep in my car & get more sleep than this place & save £100 in the process. So angry. Just so angry.
I've had noisy fridges before but this plumbing was LOUD. Louder than LOUD McLoudface on a particularly loud day.
Why - in the summer - are they pumping cold water with occasional bubbles at very high pressure around a heating system all bloody night?
Worst night's sleep since my Son was born at 4:30 am 20 years ago.

I would not stay there again if they paid me.

The pool shuts at 9pm, so I missed out on the main reason for choosing this hotel. Perhaps they might make that plain in their listing? Would be easier to plan for & not waste time & expectations.

Don't get me started on the appalling breakfast. Were not the last to arrive, but the food had been prepared sometime in the 20th century & kept warm since then. The fried eggs were just plain rubber, the bacon was rock solid and had been there for a long time, the beans were congealed it was all just disgusting. Wish I hadn't bothered. Can't even get a proper cup of tea it's a coffee machine which does Latte, so just don't bother.

Good grief they should really reconsider the basics of what they are doing as a business. Maybe the CEO should be an anonymous guest & see how dreadful it is.

There was some sort of party in the hotel that made it difficult to sleep so we had to change rooms but the staff were accommodating. BEWARE OF PARTYS AND WEDDINGS

Wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re working away.
Upon first glance the hotel seemed okay. Staff friendly. Dont stay on a weekend if you want to sleep.. they have a function room which had a party and wedding when I was staying. I wasn’t notified of this when checking in. My room was vibrating.. there was kids banging on my door at 10:30pm.. the rooms were overly hot but having the window open wasn’t an option due to how noisy it was. It was a disaster must’ve been 200+ adults and kids.

The pool area is run down, staff rude I waited 10 minutes before I was spoken too he was just chatting away about things irrelevant and hadn’t noticed me.
The grounds around the hotel were lovely and great for free parking. I end up leaving this hotel and booking another due to work and not wanting to still be up at 2 am

Staff helped to resolve the issue by offering another room but this wouldn’t have been helpful either as it would’ve been the same the next evening due to a wedding.

Rooms are standard. A little run down but for the price you don’t expect the Hilton.

Mid week stays seem quiet avoid the weekend like the plague.

Had to leave and move to a new hotel. There was a large Traveller wedding at the hotel that was just intermingled with the facilities for normal guests. The staff did the best job they could but the place was just too raucous and loud to relax into an evening ahead oaf a busy day of meetings the following day. Couldn't speak to reception as they were being intimidated about having a bar tab by some of the wedding guests at the time, so I cut my losses and left.

The hotel should consider making guests aware if they have large events on ahead of booking, and should keep events in separate facilities from other guests, as most establishments now do.

Stayed at this hotel numerous times, AVOID room 781 as its next to a generator or other noisy machine which hummed all night and then ramped up at 4:30am. Impossible to sleep through!!! There was also a badly stained bath towel. The bedrooms are tired looking but generally clean hence our return visit, not sure we’ll return again unless we can request a room. Apart from this, everything else was ok for the price.

The staff could benefit from having name tags and possibly a uniform to easily identify them.
The room was in my opinion in need of some TLC, it was in places worn out.
At night the room was flooded with lights from the car park, which was not the most ideal sleeping condition.

Great spa and nice room, shame about the rest

My room was very nice, spacious, bath. The gym and pool and sauna and steam room were fantastic and the guy who works there really friendly and helpful. However the corridors feel neglected and even smell a bit musty in places. I switched all the lights off on leaving every morning and the chambermaid left some of them on (and one day I wasn’t back till nearly 9pm). Also, I’d driven all the way from Oxford on the Sunday and obviously needed dinner, I ordered via the QR code and got a confirmation. After nearly an hour, I wondered where the food had got to so phoned reception who were surprised because I should have received a message saying my order had been rejected because the kitchen decided to close at 8pm. I asked if it was possible to get the soup and sandwiches that were advertised on a card as available 24 hours and was told no…. I ended up using Just Eat but I thought this was really poor service.
