The room they put us in had black mould all around the windows and up walls... The room was so run down it was drab and looked nothing like the pictures. It was also not in the main building and up about 7 different staircases and through so many doors when we had a baby and lots of luggage with us.
Asked to changed room as I wasn't staying in the first room full of mould with a baby.
They did change it but no apology or help moving.. or nothing for inconvenience.
Man on reception desk at evening was very bare minimum and took all his effort to speak.
Breakfast Very average... No veggie options on Sundays on cooked breakfast yet pay full price

How this hotel has that many stars is beyond me.

Having read some dreadful reviews, we were really not looking forward to our stay here. We had booked a suite through Expedia as it was only slightly more expensive than a regular room, and were so glad that we did. Ample free parking and after a lovely warm welcome, we were allocated the Bronte suite which is in the original, main part of the building. Room was huge, bedding was crisp and clean. Bathroom looked to have been recently renovated with a huge shower and was spotlessly clean (other than for a layer of dust on the panels behind the door). The Elemis products were wonderful.
Plentiful tea/coffee sachets.
My only recommendation to the hotel would be to make sure that cleaners pay attention to dusting. Whilst the obvious areas like bedside cabinets and dressing table were dust-free, the tops of the leather chairs were dusty and there were a couple of cobwebs behind the bedside cabinet (which I discovered when I plugged my phone in).
The breakfast buffet was plentiful with hot and cold choices. The coffee was from a urn and was undrinkable...a coffee machine which offered a variety of coffees would be preferable.
Its a wonderful old building with many lovely original features. We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay and would stay again. The staff are clearly working hard to rebuild the hotels reputation and were very friendly and welcoming.

The room was clean and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and we both had an excellent nights sleep on the very comfortable bed. The lounge bar was very nice and we had a lovely meal, we had a dog with us so could not eat in the main restaurant but the lounge bar was lovely and it was certainly no hardship eat there.
The staff were all so pleasant and helpful and it made for a most enjoyable stay.

Staff were friendly but the hotel itself needs some serious TLC.
Our room was in an annex, cold, dark & shabby.
The worst experience about our stay was the noise from both neighbouring rooms with guests talking, laughing, banging about until 5am, making it very difficult to sleep.
I have never stayed in a hotel where the bedroom walls are so thin, you can hear everything in the next room. I am actually deaf, wear hearing aids and i could still hear the noise they were making at such a late hour! To add to this unpleasant stay, was the strong smell off weed in the hallway which seeped into our bedroom, even in the morning.
The hotel bedroom didnt have a telephone so we were unable to report this disrespectful and antisocial behavior to the reception.
Certainty won't be staying here again or recommending to others!

Lovely place but disappointed with the food! Waited a long time on both evenings and items I wanted weren’t available! Final night they had a group of men who were very loud and swore a lot. They talked about women and weren’t very complimentary about them either! Staff were lovely and we felt sorry for the young waiter who had to apologise a lot!
Mixed messages about a guide dog n training being allowed in the restaurant.

Upon arrival the outside of the main building looks good that's were it's stops the staff are 5 star in there welcome and doing there jobs no problem there
The room was very dated no plug sockets near the bed furniture very dated not in a good way
Bathroom absolutely disgusting paint peeling of the ceiling bathroom was some thing out the 70s not in a good way very poor condition
No WiFi in room at all again in this day is a standard thing
Carpets very dated needs new one or a very deep clean at least made me feel ill being in the room such low standard
I had a evening meal that was sent back twice as under cooked in parts meat was rough didn't even get correct meal at the same time
Beer was off tasted disgusting
I was up being sick all last night
The breakfast was so bad I sent it back
As over cooked how you can cook a breakfast wrong is a serious concern
The buildings are in such bad repair it doesn't match what you see on the website
Now I understand why the rooms are cheap
Even the staff agreed with what I said to them they were so kind and friendly
It's a shame at the hole venue could be made 5 star and above very easy the lack of money that hasn't been spent is shown
Should be a amazing place to stay at best it's 2/ 10 at moment
I could very easily renovate the venue to achieve 5 star and above
As we are working in local areas on several big developments
But I wouldn't put my team members in there as is

Having stayed at Kilhey Court many times in the past (a long time ago now) we thought that we knew what to expect. Reception/bar and our room were excellent. Unfortunately the spa has been closed and there are just a few signs of lack of investment (leaking roof on the stained glass atrium, tiles missing from the spa roof). If we had never stayed at the hotel during it’s hey day we may not have noticed these things but it is sad to see, and we hope that these small signs are not the beginning of the decline.

It was clear that cost savings were affecting the food service at breakfast. The standard was okay but would be so much better if the self service had been described better, for instance the breakfast clearly stated Black pudding with a full breakfast, but it wasn’t on display, you had to ask for it. Which is fine if you know to order before assembling your breakfast plate otherwise the black pudding arrives when you have nearly concluded your breakfast. A simple sign next to the plates would improve this!

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel, which I had looked forward to. We specifically booked a \"Standard Double Bed,\" but upon arrival, we were given a twin bed. When we raised this issue, we were told it was \"Hotels.com\" fault due to a miscommunication indicating \"twin\" rather than \"deluxe.\"

Additionally, the breakfast was of very poor quality, and the service was lacking. Even after multiple requests, the coffee we asked for upon our arrival at breakfast was only brought to us after we had finished eating.

Overall, I would rate my experience a 2/10. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Booked at the last minute and excellent value for money. Wished I’d found it earlier as it is so much nicer than Travelodges I’ve stayed in before in this area.
Can’t comment on other hotel facilities as l only stayed one night and left early next morning so didn’t eat.

The only down side was though the room was beautiful, the heated towel rail was not broken and the flush on the WC was poor, and some of the wallpaper was peeling in some areas. We could not stayed the second night because of the condition of the room it was smelly and very old. We had to leave. And we couldn't get the refund for the second night.
I would not recommend this hotel to any one.its too far and smells and too old

Staff from reception/housekeeping to the maintenance man Jack, all exceptional. Hotel definitely not 4 star. Very tired, rooms in annexe long walk and had to go outside to get to. Room clean, very poor shower no pressure at all. Bathroom very dated. Windows not double glazed and dirty in the sills. Walls in rooms paper thin, could hear everything. 1st night next to a noisey family, 2nd night very loud snorer another night a barking pet, then last night of a 6 night stay another noisey family!! Hotel seems very large don't understand the policy of placing solo travellers on an extended stay next to families/pets. Booked for the use of the gym facility. Very long walk up and down stairs, corridors. Felt like a workout before I even got there! Gym equipment/machines very good however gym totally neglected.. no water machine working, air conditioning not working, no paper towels, spiders and cobwebs on all windows (inside) no toilets (would have to go back to the room). I felt very isolated and vulnerable as a women using the gym as it was so out of the way and even though it had a security camera did not feel safe so only used it once. Would say 3 star. Would give all staff 5 stars

Before arriving, on the long drive there, the staff were nice enough to give me and my partner a heads-up (phone call) to welcome us into the hotel and update us on any problems they were facing at the time (they said that the kitchen was currently closed, however they were happy for us to order a delivery at the hotel), which I thought was a nice touch. The nature and environment surrounding the hotel are amazing, with huge trees and nearby lakes and waterfalls. Entering the hotel was beautiful, with marble pillars, golden ceilings, and comfy sofas. We had a standard room, which was more than enough. We had a TV, a good-sized bed, a bath/shower with pressure, closeted mirrors and even a bidet. And this was only £60 a night, such a bargain, especially with the location. I thought that everything was up to a very high standard. The only issue I had with the hotel, which isn't a big deal considering how cheap the stay was, but the drink prices at the hotel bar are extortionate, 200ml of classic Coke for £3.50, so if you're planning on staying at the hotel, I would strongly recommend taking your own drinks. Side note: the swimming pool hasn't been open for a year, which is fine, I think I just got confused with some of the pictures of the hotel online, just thought to let you know before any of you decide to take your swimming stuff. Anyway, I was thoroughly impressed by the hotel and the lovely staff, I will be going again.

The bedrooms were comfortable but the waiters let the side down with their reluctance to serve us the breakfast we asked for. The Saturday staff were very efficient and courteous but the Sunday shift were altogether different. They claimed they were extremely busy when the hotel was far from full and not catering for wedding parties. We had been waiting thirty minutes for our food to be told that they had not taken our order which was standard fare to the menu. It took a further fifteen minutes to receive our order without any accoutrements to the basic dish. This hotel is one of our favourites and we have never had cause for complaint before. Moreover we respect the staff there and have come to know many of them on a personal basis. So we felt very let down by our experience this time.

Could do with some refurbishment but OK.

Hotel is rather tired and dated. Room somewhat dusty and in need of refurbishment though bed was certainly clean and comfortable.
Excellent breakfast with very good choice.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
One thing which was not acceptable was that the smoke alarm in my room had been covered with a plastic bag. Most likely from a previous occupant but should have been spotted and removed by housekeeping.
Overall reasonable value for the price of the room.

Booked the junior suite. Didnt come with a bathrobe as it stated, no fresh water in the room. Jaccuzi bath was hard to turn off due to button. No body wash in the shower bit. Other than that the place is stunning and the staff are amazing so i would go back

Lovely staff - Hotel is tired

This is a beautiful building, the blurb says it’s recently undergone renovation…. Not sure where, it’s tired, we had a Deluxe King Room, there was a good tea tray when we found it, a big metal tray with two water glasses but no water, there was only one bedside table not two, no useable plugs near the bed and no light over the mirror in the bedroom. The bathroom was clean but tired and the water pressure was poor.
When we checked in the lovely lady asked us to fill in the forms with pencil as they didn’t have any pens?!? The hotel bar wasn’t well stocked and lacked and snacks like crisps or nuts, if you order a cup of tea there is no biscuit and the staff “don’t have any” they can give or sell you, apparently they used to have snacks. Not enough staff at breakfast to clear plates, you needed to wait for staff to be available to come to serve in the bar, whether time of day. If feels like a key member of staff has left and things are getting missed.
It’s a shame we looked forward to a treat stay away in a nice hotel and we were disappointed.

We enjoyed our one night stay in the hotel.The garden were quiet and.had a partial view of Worthington Lakes. There was no food available when we checked in so had to ha e our evening meal at a pub nearby,which was no hardship. PThe room was nice and the bed comfortable.
