Hotel Oberland is about a 10 min drive from Vaduz. It's high up on the east side, the road is a bit of a challenge and be aware that parking is available on both sides of the hotel and there's a lot available in front of the property.
Check in was via a machine. No staff are are the location in the afternoon and evening.
The views from the balcony are beautiful. Breakfast was very good with lots of options.
We enjoyed the availability of drinks ... honor system.

Super hotel as a base to explore Liechtenstein, there is a bus stop directly outside the hotel that takes you to Malbun up in the mountains or down to Vaduz. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, self check in was swift and easy and the breakfast was very nice. There is also a super clean sauna area downstairs that we loved relaxing in after a day out exploring. The staff were super friendly and helpful, could not recommend more highly!

The view to the valley was amazing! Although there was road work in front of hotel, we found it very entertaining to have a cocktail or coffee on the balcony and observe! The sauna was a fantastic way to wrap up the days of exploring. It was an easy, invigorating walk to great food options. The only reason we gave a lower score per staff is that it’s essentially a digital check in, although initially we communicated with a remote real person and that was fine. The breakfast staff and cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights and generally had a good stay. The self-service check-in was a bit fiddly but we managed to do it without too much hassle. Tip: Make sure you have your booking reference (the one assigned by the hotel, not the one given by any third-party booking agent).

Our bedroom (room 12) was basic but clean. There was a bit of an odour in the room when we first arrived so we bought a diffuser from the local shop. As our room was on the ground floor, I expect there may have been a dog in there at some point, hence the smell.

The bathroom was a good size but the shower leaked no matter how careful we were, which was a bit annoying.

The free tea and coffee was a life-saver. We realt appreciated that. Breakfast was also decent, if not a bit repetitive.

One of the main drawbacks of our stay was that despite it being July, a lot of the local businesses were closed. That and the fact we didn’t have a car made meal choices very limited as the bus from Vaduz does not run very late. We were also unlucky to have inclement weather for most of our stay and there isn’t a great deal to do at the hotel.

What a wonderful property! It’s small, but very well done with a homey atmosphere that manages to also feel modern with the self check in and honor bar. Breakfast was delicious and options were plentiful with wonderful pastries, meats, cheeses, coffees and teas and a hostess to make your eggs as you like. This was just the feeling I was looking for when I booked. Our room was well appointed and had the best view from the balcony. I was a little worried about the lack of A/C, but with the doors to the balcony and the windows that opened to the mountain air, even my picky city teens were comfortable. We were only there for one night, but it was a memorable one.

Check in process is not very clear for English speaking people and there is no reception staff.

luckily for us there was a onsite employee available to assist during our check in they needed to call for help twice while checking us in which confirmed the challenge.

Not sure if this was due to booking by Expedia rather than direct.

Check out however is very simple just drop cards in slot.

Hotel is on a road and can be noisy there is also a church right across so church bells do go off at various intervals.

Buffet breakfast was adequate when compared to others on trip. For lunch and dinner you will need to find other places.

Room was clean although a little on the smaller size but we had a great view over the valley.

Very unusual to have a totally automated check-in and check out system. It felt a bit impersonal but it worked well and was very efficient.

The hotel is great. It's relatively small and a little quirky but very homely. It is positioned high up with superb valley views.

The only downside was the very loud church bell just across the road that rang out regularly from 6am onwards. It wasn't a problem for us as it served as an alarm call, but would be more problematic if you are looking for a lie in.

The best hotel we stayed at in Europe. The views alone could give this hotel 5 stars, but the room was clean and nice as well. Check in was easy and the bus stop was not too far away. Although, you should be warned the first walk up with your luggage can be a bit of a battle, but we took plenty of stops to take in the view anyways.

Check-in with the machine can be a bit tricky but help-line is always very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cozy. Decent bathroom.
You should spend time in the balcony…. The view of the valley and mountains is literally breathtaking.

You can use your Swiss Travel Pass for most of the bus route. Public bus service is as useful as in Switzerland.

Nowhere is cheap in Lichtenstein and Hotel Oberland does offer good value compared to many others. The self service check in was easy to follow. The room was compact but had a balcony with amazing views over the valley and Swiss mountains. It was noisy though with the windows open fire to the road outside and the church. Breakfast was good and included in the price.

I believe every room has the same view. The only complaint I could have is proximity to church- the bell tolls every 15 min (except between midnight and 6 am) so it’s hard to sleep.

Room itself was okay (nothing special), but the self-check-in process is woefully deficient and management in the morning was quite poor. We arrived at 10pm after a long day of driving and the check in machine gave us errors on each attempt (despite charging our credit card 135CHF each time). We then had to phone an agent and it took us almost half an hour to check in, which is ridiculous. Then, the next morning, it turned out the booking had been made for one person instead of two, so the manager insisted we pay a 45 CHF surcharge (which doesn't make sense for just an extra breakfast) even though the price posted online was significantly cheaper. I didn't agree with this, but the manager then force charged my credit card and was terrible to deal with. Would avoid this hotel.

This is a selfservice hotel with nobody to assist, there was no water in the room or entire hotel, the pillows need to be replaced, towels are poor quantity and there were no bed sheets only matress cover and comforter. Finally the Church bell next to the hotel will ring every hour for over 2 minutes and every 15 minutes for few seconds which did not let us sleep all night. The ladies in the breakfast area were outstanding, friendly and kind.

I loved my time at Hotel Oberland!! The views are everything. I made a decision to stay in Triesenberg, rather than Vaduz or another town in the valley, primarily to save money. But it was so worthwhile for the views and the quiet away from the busier areas. Thankfully the buses to Vaduz and elsewhere are timely and convenient. (Just be aware it’s an uphill walk from the bus stop, which can be challenging with luggage.) The self check-in system worked well. But it was a very pleasant highlight to have staff cooking during the breakfast service. They were so welcoming, and the food was great, just what I needed for all the hiking I did throughout Liechtenstein.

I made an advanced payment, but unfortunately at rhe moment of check in, i was charged the whole rate again and lost my down payment paid earlier at reservation time. There is not reception staff to speak about it neither.

This is a lovely, quaint hotel with a nice balcony and beautiful views. Room and bathroom are very nice and comfortable. They include a small fridge and a fan. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic and includes made to order eggs that were the tastiest we had. We even had to ask what they put in them (butter and chives). The sauna is a nice perk but keep in mind it is only open during the evening from 5-10pm. I found out the hard way twice when trying to visit late evening and again the next morning. Bummer as the sauna area is very nice and spa like so be sure to take advantage of that during the correct hours. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is excellent: very clean, modern, comfortable, fantastic views, delicious breakfast. The self-checkout was smooth, although a little bit unusual. The description does not mention the self-check out, but it reads the opposite: \"Front desk staff will greet guests on arrival\". I would recommend to change that description to avoid confusion. Also, please keep in mind that you might be awakening at 6 am by a very loud bell ringing from the church in front of the hotel. If you plan to sleep longer, lock the windows.

I was initially a little skeptical of the \"self-check-in, but it turned out to be a great idea. No issues whatsoever with the check in and the staff that arrived the following morning for the breakfast service were very friendly and determined to make your stay pleasant. Although there is not an onsite restaurant for dinner, there are plenty of options close by. There is also an honesty bar onsite with wine, beer and champagne that allows you to get your favorite beverage and relax and watch the sunset over the mountains. A truly delightful location and establishment. Would definitely recommend this and would stay here again.(only longer)

My wife and I stayed for two nights in July 2023. We loved this Hotel! Self-check-in was a breeze, the room had everything we needed, the views were spectacular, and the breakfast was great. Best of all, the Staff (when we met them) were excellent. If you visit, check out the ski lift in Malbun. The only issue for our stay was that the room was a little small and hot in the evening, though we had a fan.

This is a self check-in hotel with no staff after 11 a.m. We had an emergency and we were not able to call the rental car company in Germany on our personal cell phones. The lack of staffing and there not being any phones at the hotel, made the difficult situation much worse. There was a number for a reception, but that was not helpful. The next morning, Francisca, the breakfast staff, let us use her personal phone to make the necessary calls for assistance. She was a blessing. Beware that the hotel room gets very hot in late June and there is no air conditioning There just happened to be road construction on the busy, noisey road in front of the hotel. Also, the nearby church bells start ringing at 6 a.m. and stop at 10 p.m.

This is a self-check-in hotel which is easy to check in using your reservation information and your credit card. The rooms are really nice and the breakfast was good.

If the hotel restaurant is not open, there are a few others nearby within walking distance, but be aware that Liechtenstein apparently still allows people to smoke in restaurants - we went to the Edelweiss restaurant and while the local food was good, having to sit inside with someone smoking 3 metres away was not good!

Great little spot! I loved the self check-in. Although it took me a couple tries to get it to accept my credit card. (You don’t get charged, it’s just for security reasons). The breakfast was amazing, and I also loved the honesty bar. My only complaint was the bed in the single room was not that comfortable. But still, I would stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Our balcony had an amazing view of the Swiss alps and down into the Liechtenstein valley. We ended up watching sunrise and sunset from there and even enjoyed going out at night to look at the stars. The hotel itself is clean and updated without losing some traditional charm. The staff was minimal but very efficient. Would love to stay here again.

Great hotel in quaint Liechtenstein town!

Best kept secret on a trip to Liechtenstein! Great location and view over the valley and mountains. Easily accessible by car or by bus from Vaduz/Swiss rail stations in Sargens or Buchs. Great hosts with a simple yet delicious European breakfast. Our plans only allowed one night but will stay longer on the next trip!

We had a large suite with kitchen facilities but it was on the fourth floor, we are over 60, and the property has no elevator. When leaving we could use a rear third floor door, but couldn’t enter there. We had our own veranda. I don’t think the room had an air conditioner but we didn’t need one as the air outside was cool. There is ample parking. We arrived by bus, however, and had to walk down some stairs from the stop as the road was under construction. The alternative was to walk up hill with luggage from Treisenberg center. The cost of beer and wine from the self-serve kitchen on the ground floor was the same as at stores and both coffee and tea were free.

Pros: Amazing view of mountains. Seriously amazing. Great balcony to enjoy the view. Good breakfast.
Cons: It's noisy - right next to a road so you hear traffic, church bells going off every 15 min, and the construction nearby. There's no AC, which wouldn't have been a problem since it cools off at night, but due to all the noise and me being a light sleeper, we had to sleep with windows shut, so it was hot.
Neutral: Self check-in was weird but fine. You just have to select \"America\" instead of \"USA\" or \"United States\" or it won't register country. Felt a little weird that there's no staff around but cameras are watching you.

Great hotel in the mountains. Beautiful view. Easy walk to downtown Triesenberg, which is admittedly small but has the essentials (cafes, grocery store, post office...). Breakfast is great. Shower pressure is amazing. Staff is very nice.
Heads up: the 24-hour front desk is by phone only.

The automated check-in (no person present) was a bit weird, but easily followed on the touch screen, and available in multiple languages. The email sent before our arrival told us to expect this and outlined what documents were needed. We took care of everything ourselves, the machine printed our room keys, and that was all!

The room was well-appointed with a great view of the Rhine and surrounding mountains. We didn't find the pull-out bed very comfortable for two adults (we are not large), but for a night, it was just fine.

Breakfast was very fresh and delicious. There was a lady there in the morning to make us fresh eggs.

Loved it here! The view is incredible and the room is so comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast, sauna, and independence to check in ourselves.

Self check-in feature was nice and extremely easy to use. Hotel was clean and breakfast was nice. Nice little walk to the bus stop to head up or down the mountain, the perfect in between. I would stay here again.

4 Nights. It Was Just Ok. Nothing Special. Pricey!

I understand that it is a self-checking hotel, but I was very surprised that there was no staff at all throughout the stay. I had so many questions to ask besides check-in. Unfortunately, there was no one to assist. You cannot even select your room (as there was no receptionist). I did not like my balcony, it was not private (shared). I felt as if it was a false advertisement for the suite. If you have any problem, you have to call a number left. So to stay in this hotel you must have your phone working and ready to pay for the expensive roaming charge. I only wanted to ask where to take the covid PCR test (for my return flight requirement), this has cost me a lot on the phone bill. The person I talked to was also not very helpful. At first, she stressed out to me that this is just a hotel, she shouldn't be assisting me on this (traveled twice a month, first time I received this kind of response). Finally, she gave me a number to call (after telling her I was disappointed without her assistance). The whole area around this hotel was also very dull and boring.
