Breakfast was very tasty . Loved the flavorful black bean rice there ( gala pinto ) and fresh juice and veggies . Rooms were clean and the towel animals /art was very nice .

Entry to the hotel is a gravel road with potholes . Need to be careful driving . Driveway not paved .

But overall we had a nice experience and easy access to main La Fortuna downtown that had lots of of restaurants and other stores .

They were very nice and helpful, but the building itself was slapshod. It looked worn and was built by someone who was not a carpenter. They charged more than a much nicer motel we had stayed in just the day before. The breakfast was great, and the people were very nice.

Personnels aidants et accueillant. Déjeuners sont bons. La proximité de la nature et la végétation est agréable à entendre. On se croirait en pleine jungle. C’est un endroit très tranquille ce qui est apprécié. Le concept de petites maisons est génial.
Seul inconvénient, loin à pied du centre-ville (20 min), mais facile à faire en transport. Il y a beaucoup de restaurant à proximité

Tout était parfait dans son ensemble. Seul chose qui rendrais le séjour parfait serait un meilleur acces exterieur avec table et chaise si on a envie d'être à l'extérieur sans être nécessairement sur une chaise longue à la piscine (par exemple avec un repas emporté ou pour jouer à des jeux de société.) Et l'accès à un micro onde serait aussi un plus (il pourrait très bien etre dans la salle ou se trouve le frigo). Sinon, tout étais parfait. Bon emplacement, staff accueillants et endroit très propre. Les repas au resto de l'hôtel était délicieux et très copieux. La piscine étais très agréable. Nous y avons vu un toucan à quelques reprises. Je recommande !

The room was very clean and the staff was lovely. I stayed in one of the hotel rooms (not a bungalow) and unfortunately the walls were extremely thin. The family next to me yelled and had kids screaming all times of the day starting early, and even with ear plugs, sometimes their banging on the wall jolted me awake. The restaurant was convenient, food was basic. Good location for doing things in La Fortuna.

Staff was wonderful! Very helpful. Room was clean but there was a missing window pane that allowed bugs into the room. The room was cleaned well daily. We stayed in a room with 5 people, it would have been nice to have a mirror outside the bathroom so others could get ready while the bathroom was occupied. The pool was open until 8 pm but there were no lights so the pool wasn’t usable past dark at 6. Also there were only 6 chairs to sit in at the pool. The toilet seat didn’t really fit the toilet which was a little gross. There also wasn’t an area to gathering spot other than the restaurant. There were hanging swings in the entry way which was a nice touch.

When we get the room we found out that a crack on the window, we let the staff know and they fix it really quick , I’ll be honest if you are looking for luxury and modern property this is not your spot , now if you looking for a well located spot near the heart of fortuna clean, safe and well located this is it .By the way 5 star to the Bambo restaurant the breakfast it’s include this was one of the hidden gems in La fortuna town this restaurant it’s amazing crazy tasty food and shout out to luis and his wife they will make you feel like home

The amenities were clean and well presented daily. The staff is courteous and always willing to help with any challenges experienced. The added bonus was the restaurant on the property, which served fantastic meals daily, so there was no need to ever depart the location in search of a good meal.

The staff really make this place, including Luiz at the lovely on-site restaurant. The location is nice and quiet, about 20 min walk to the bustle of town. And all the tours and activities offer transportation so we never needed a car.
I know it’s only 3 star, but the rooms could use a few extras, like glasses, access to ice and/or a coffee machine. Thankfully we were allowed to keep a few things in the communal fridge behind reception. For the price, this was a great place to stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Tangara Arenal. I booked the bungalow option, and it was a great choice. The bungalow was surrounded by plants and trees, with outdoor seating perfect for relaxing or reading while it rained—and when it rains, it pours! The metal roof made the sound of the rain noticeable, but I found it soothing, like white noise.
We visited during the wet season and had the usual afternoon showers, but it never bothered us. The room was spacious, with a smart TV, mini fridge, and work area. Even with another bungalow nearby, we barely saw or heard anyone.
The hotel is easy to find on the main road to town. You’ll need a car or taxi to get around, but since we had a car, it was simple. Breakfast was included and served plated at the on-site restaurant—we ate there daily and also enjoyed dinner one evening. The food was tasty. The location felt safe and quiet, with a police station just a short distance away.
The only area for improvement is the shower. The handheld showerhead didn’t have a holder, and there wasn’t space to set toiletries. Adding a mount and some shelving would make it more comfortable.
Overall, this hotel offers great value, a peaceful atmosphere, and convenient access to activities. I’d definitely recommend it.

Lovely property, spacious rooms, beautiful landscaping and an excellent on-site restaurant which is not owned by the hotel, but independently operated. We ate breakfast there every mornng, and one evening had dinner there. Great food each time. Owner very kind and helpful. Mades left beautiful towel scupltures on our beds every day which was a delightful surprise. Would definitely stay here again.

For the price, it was a comfortable room and I enjoyed the breakfast. The bathroom could use some storage/shelves and the shower was difficult to use. We had to google how to use it! To get hot water the water pressure needs to be down low. You couldn’t stand under a stream of water as there was no holder for the shower head on the wall any higher than waist level. The location is a close drive to restaurants and shops, but not really walkable. There was a fair amount of road noise. The staff were helpful and I enjoyed having paid laundry service available.

I loved the bathroom space and bedroom very beautiful greenery and windows in our room the breakfast alone has us all amazed thank you soo much for being so helpful with helping us book our tour for the day they have soo many options and helpful suggestions thank you all for a magical stay the only things I would suggest would be to have an actual reception bathroom or at least one for more then 1 person at a time and also the pot holes coming in and out 😅 other then this very high maintenance suggestion I would recommend this place to anyone

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in a bungalow at Hotel Tangara Arenal. The bungalow was beautifully furnished with everything we needed and the lush tropical trees surrounding it gave us privacy. We felt like we were on our own private retreat.

For our free breakfast, the Tangara offered a breakfast menu with several great choices. We were really impressed with that!

We also ate at the restaurant the first night and the seafood pasta was excellent.

We had a great experience at the Hotel Tangara Arenal and would definitely stay here again.

We really liked this hotel. Our family of four had plenty of space in our 3 bed room. Plenty of room to move around. The lush greenery everywhere made it feel like you are in the middle of nature. It was lovely. Very clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay there again.

Our family spent 3 nights at this property and we loved it. It is just outside of town making it accessible, but also very quiet. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed listening to and watching all of the birds that visited. The restaurant on the premises was amazing, and we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and our room was spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

This is a very simple and beautiful hotel. We stayed in one of the casitas/bungalows and it was just lovely. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and staff were all warm and friendly. This is not a fancy hotel, but it was just perfect for us. Cute towel animals greeted us every day.

Lovely property that is well maintained. The staff was exceptional. Rooms were clean and cool. We stayed in the casitas. Dining was delicious and had wonderful staff.

The location was close to a main road, so the traffic noise was noticeable. There was also a disco down the road that was popular and had exuberant music that one could hear. We appreciated not being in the heart of the town as there was little traffic congestion.

We would recommend the property to anyone who would enjoy a multi-cultural and authentic experience of Costa Rica. We sure did!

We spent 2 weeks here. The owners were so nice and so welcoming. They made our stay very comfortable.
The staff did a wonderful job cleaning the rooms. The housekeeping would make beautiful art with the towels when they cleaned the room. Every time was a different animal. So creative and talented. I took pictures of all of them.
The entire grounds are well kept and clean.

We enjoyed a nice breakfast every morning in the Bamboo restaurant. Which started serving dinner before we left. A delicious menu. Wonderful staff.

Great location. Walking distance into town.
We would definitely recommend a stay here.

We booked the room from Expedia, when we arrived we received a tiny match box room, we went back to the property manager and he upgraded the room to a bungalow room, had to add $150.00 more, breakfast was from 7:00 to 9:00, I arrived at 9:00 am they refused to provide us with a cup of coffee.
Beware of what you book before you book and before you arrive, it felt like a bait and switch, and the area is not the best!
