this place is very outdated and in need of many repairs, spent night without Electrical and Airconditioning. Bathroom has mold in grout on shower. bar was filthy and flies were through the inside of hotel. The room we paid for was not available and was stuck with some much less and was refunded anything. also maintaince was running a leaf blower at 5:45 am thru 6:30 am out side our room. we got very little sleep to all the noise from them

Breakfast was great room was clean but light went out twice the second time I never came back after like 3 or 4 hrs I don’t recall it was already late we had just gotten back to the hotel we went out and had dinner when we arrived lights went out we got stuck on floor 3 room was floor 4 called for help got to our room through the stairs was having a hard time getting in to our room it was getting super hot in the room ugh long story short we ended up sleeping like at 3 in the morning because of the light I was so fed up I was also washing my clothes before this all happened I stayed alone while washing ughhh had to leave the site because there was no light and they stole my clothes bag 💼 😭

We have been now three times and love the proximity to the beach and the access. They accommodate you so well since we are IHG members. We have nothing bad to say about them at all but if I had to say less than 5 stars on something it would just be maintenance. The maintenance guy/gal should definitely paint some areas in our room with the same sheen (there were paint marks with different sheens so they were noticeable). Overall we LOVE THE PLACE and it will be a staple for us every year!

This is not a 3.5 star hotel. We stayed here 3 years ago and loved it, which is why we came back. This time we were disappointed again and again. The pool bar was never opened, the pool heater broke down which left no heated pool. The beach bar/restaurant was open sporadically. Our party had 3 rooms and all of us had to call for maintenance issues. The overall condition of the hotel has deteriorated. We would not recommend this hotel.

The heated pool was not working, the swim up bar was not open at all. Breakfast food was always cold and they didn't care. When we walked on the beach, and came back to the top of the boardwalk, the hoses to clean your feet off didn't have any water to them. TVs didn't work, phones in the room didn't work, so we had to walk down to talk to the front desk, to get replacement ones. So, because of all that when the toilet broke, we fixed it our self. We stayed there 2 years ago and had a great time, that's way we went back there, but we will never go back there again. THE HOTEL HAS FALLEN APART AND NEEDS A LOT OF WORK.

The property was old and unkempt. It was advertised that on site pools and bars were open - they were not. Elevators were in disrepair and was, frankly, scary to ride on. Ice machine did not work. I’ll never go back to this property and will advise all friends and relatives to avoid when traveling to South Padre

Receptionist seemed she was bothered if we asked for an update on the room at 4:45! Mind you check in is at 4!!We then asked for a refund because we found TICKS not one but 4 inside our room literally crawling on the table and we were told they couldnt help us. We even offered to show them the pictures and said all they could do was move us to another room, we moved because it was already 8pm when we went back to our room but didn’t even rest do to the fact of thinking my daughter which is allergic to insects could get bitten by one! Very disappointed

The room was fine, but dirty windows. Staff never cleaned our room till the day before we came home, had to hunt them down for clean towels. Very slow elevators, pool chairs were soooo uncomfortable, very slow service at the inside bar, but food was great.

10 out of 10, DO NOT recommend at this time of year. The pictures and descriptions of this hotel lead you to believe there are activities for children, multiple heated pools, swim up bar, and two restaurants. In reality, there are no child friendly activities, there is one heated pool that is small and only 3 feet deep which is where the swim up bar should have been located. The other two pools are absolutely frigid, with the \"kid dedicated\" pool being about a foot low on water as well. Only one restaurant is open at a time, but there is no indication which is open without actually going there. Per the waitress, \"If this one is not open, the other one is, but I'm not sure of the times.\" I reserved two rooms. We stayed on the pool side. Whenever I've stayed poolside, I expect noise of children playing, splashing, echoing voices. Pool side at this facility meant 60's and 70's classic rock music cranked loudly enough to hear the words starting at 7:30 AM and continued all day long. In my room, the floors were very dirty, the mirror was cracked and broken, there were not enough towels. When housekeeping \"cleaned\" the next day, dirty linens were left balled up on the beds. When I voiced my issues to the front desk, she responded with \"I'm sorry, would you like a copy of your bill?\" If I go to SPI again, I will stay at one of the smaller hotels for a fraction of this one. This place was not worth the cost. Dirty, run down, and not as advertised.

Room was “remodeled” so it had new flooring. Had to switch rooms because the first one we had, the AC looked like it was coming apart, the toilet had not been completely cleaned, and the fridge didn’t work. Next room was a little better, but the outlets in the room sparked when you plugged something in, and the microwave had the metal showing on the inside. I could go on, but I will digress. The only good thing was the view and the staff were nice.

We stayed here for a week. It was a mix of good and bad. Rhonda at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. The bar service was good. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable. The common areas were well kept and in good condition. The pool was clean and heated in the weekend. The rooms on the other hand are in need of some updates. Our shower curtain rod was rusty. The soap dispenser pump was broken. Housekeeping doesn’t speak much English so they hand you a phone to enter in your request so it can be translated. I put an empty Kleenex box on top of the Kleenex holder yet nobody noticed and I still had to hunt down staff to get a new one. The sink leaked around the faucet. We made several calls to Maintenance to get a working safe. The window curtains had water stains from where water leaked in through the window. The furniture was sticky and that didn’t go away with a good scrubbing. When our flight got cancelled and we had an additional stay, we moved to a different hotel. Weigh your options. There is much better in the island.

This stay was frustrating and poorly managed.

We had to change three rooms:
•the first room had a non-working air conditioner;
•the second room had a broken shower;
•the third room had a very weak shower, and the room faced ruins, which is not acceptable for a hotel stay.

On top of that, construction work started at 7:00 AM right outside the window, with no warning. Sleeping was impossible.

The staff were fine and did what they could, and the breakfast was good. However, this does not compensate for the overall condition of the hotel.

The real issue is management/ownership. Basic things like air conditioning, showers, and sound comfort are clearly not maintained. Guests should not have to move rooms multiple times or wake up to construction noise.

Until the owner invests in basic repairs and proper maintenance, this hotel cannot be recommended.

Room had an odd odor and felt musty. AC and the lamp shades were dirty and rusty. Also I specifically asked for poolside view but the view I got was of a dried out resort with ruble scattered everywhere that was an eye sore. Staff was friendly but what I saw in the picture is not what I was expecting. The rest of the hotel was nice just my room was not so nice.

The employees were our main complaint. Restaurants were not open during their posted business hours. When we asked the front desk, we were told “they are open” which was an insult because we were at the restaurant before and after asking and they were definitely not open.

Housekeeping was a problem as well. They took our dirty towels and didn’t leave any clean ones. They didn’t restock the coffee bar. They left dirty glasses in the room as well. All they did was make the beds and sweep the floor.

The beach access was nice, but due to the staff, we spent most of our time down the road at the competition. We will not be staying at Holiday Inn Resort again.

The staff was great. they went out of their way to make our drinks that were not on the menu. We did not do the breakfast, but we did dinner and it was good. The rooms were clean. The only thing on it was safety. They did not have an extra lock on the door. They did not or we did not see any fires water sprinklers in the room? And we could hear the people in the other room talking all night.

New Year Party above us with stomping, tapping, and music and rude A.M. J.L refused to move us to a similar room when we complained. Check in was a nightmare. Only 1 worker. I stood in line well over an hour. Then found out that our ocean view room wasn't ready. It was past 4:30. So we waited another hour than I got back in line for another hour and our room still was not ready. I settled for another room. The tv didn't work. Back in line for 30 more minutes to report the tv. Waited another 30 minutes for the repair man. At 7:30 pm, the whole thing exhausted me. The location was good. The room was comfortable. It was probably because it was Christmas day. I have to give the few workers there the credit they are due. At least they showed up for work.

#1: music noise from bar one floor below was over 100 decibels, ocean view window had not been cleaned in years
#2: heater did not work, safe did not work
#3: phone did not work, bathroom exhaust fan sounded like I was at the Indy 500

We booked a suite room horrible … all the beds are in the same room no privacy for couples. Bathroom was extremely dirty, moldy, rotten and extremely small not even enough space to move around or put your cloths on. One of worst experiences we had.

Everything was good except for our room, although the beds were comfortable and the shower was relaxing, but we could barely squeeze into the bathroom. The door swings open about 1 inch from the toilet and there is no vent. There is nowhere to hang a towel in the sink area, have to lay it on the limited sink space. The drawers have a bad odor, we had to keep our clothes in our suitcases. The tv was complicated to use and had very few viewing channels.
The air conditioner would not cool down, no matter how low we set the thermostat. A full length mirror would be nice being that there are plenty of bare walls.

I appreciated the pools, proximity to the ocean.
Front desk personnel was inconsistent- was the Smart was $3 or $5?
At the restaurant, some dinners were missing items-tacos had no rice & beans. Salad had no tomato or avocado-servers offered no explanation.
No dairy free creamer option. Ran out of Cranberry & Apple juice. Ordered nachos on dinner menu, was missing pico de gallo & guacamole. When asked for them, received pico & a scoop of plain avocado.
Womens’ restroom alongside bar has an oil diffuser…the artificial flowers in it are dirty, need to wash or replace.

The room had holes in certain particular areas like the furniture and walls. Our restroom space the toilet was short of being inside the shower so tight. Twice the staff were more attentive to their needs than the people who were staying at the hotel. For example some employee was talking to the desk attendant about some other employee and the three people waiting that actually paid to stay there had to wait until they were done with their conversation. This happened again at the food station by the pool. Employees talking meeting about who was where and what were they doing. I was acknowledged told to Wait but then the conversation kept going I left to be with my family instead and did tell a manager that was at the outside bar.

Before checking out we also noticed some mold smell we told the receptionist and she laughed, I told her you all need to check that she didn't seem to care.

Went to check in and they said i didn't have a room. I literally paid in advanced. They said they over booked. I said there was no way they didnt have a room. They didnt said they couldnt do anything. I blew up, raised hell, and just stood and waited. After about 15 minutes, suddenly they had a room. Complete and total BS! No one canceled, no one didn't show. They just had room all of a sudden. This place has gone to hell. I have been booking here for every Starship flight and they have gotten progressively worse.
