The property is super old and not maintained or cleaned. The rooms have old carpets. Dirty tub, old furniture and valcony sliding door and main room door wouldn't even close. The reservation said it was beach view and when we got there staff informed us they only have partial beach view rooms. Defenitly not worth the money to stay at this ghetto resort.

We were initially excited to stay at what’s considered one of the nicer hotels on the island, but our experience quickly fell short of expectations.

After the first night, things started going downhill. At 2 a.m., the guests next to us were loudly screaming and partying, making it difficult to get any sleep. Around the pool, we regularly saw empty alcohol cups floating in the water, cigarette smoke despite the hotel’s posted no-smoking policy, and adults engaging in crude, overtly sexual behavior in the pool that was completely inappropriate for a family-friendly resort setting.

Ironically, while these issues seemed to go unchecked, security was quick to stop us and make us return a small backpack cooler to our room, even after we showed that it contained nothing but two towels.

I understand the location and the crowd it can attract. I’ve been coming to South Padre Island for over 20 years, so I know what to expect. Still, I was disappointed by the lack of enforcement of basic rules and the overall atmosphere.

We also ate at the on-site restaurant, where the staff made us feel more like an inconvenience than valued guests. On a positive note, the young team working around the pool was excellent. They were friendly, energetic, and did a great job engaging with the kids, even when dealing with some challenging situations.

In the end, we paid for the location and beach access, and those aspects delivered.

designed for young families where the focus is around the pool. The place needs some investment. It suffers from neglect. My wifi didn’t work and the staff were indifferent. The ice machine didn’t work and the staff were completely indifferent. The restaurant staff were pleasant but the food was awful. For example, I ordered a Mexican soup which turned out to be broth, celery, beans and chopped hotdogs.

We arrived for check in at 4:46 pm and our room wasn’t ready until 7:45 pm. It felt like a wasted day so I ended up purchasing another night to enjoy the rest of the resort. That was the only bad thing but it was a great stay and the staff was very helpful and understanding. We will definitely be going back!

So sad to say, because years ago, this was one of our favorite spots, however, this hotel has become so run down. We paid to upgrade to one of the suites, inside the hotel, because we weren't crazy about the cabana room we stayed at a few months previous to this trip. When we walked into the suite, it smelled so musty, the room was dusty, and you could feel the springs on the bed. I was so uncomfortable that I had to go back down and request to downgrade to the cabana room. On a positive, the staff are so sweet, they fulfilled my request and had the room ready almost immediately. But even the cabanas are just not the greatest. There are bugs all over the property. My husband and I have decided that this trip would be the last time we stay there. To visit, it's wonderful, the Quarterdeck Bar is fun, the pool and beach access are 10/10, but we won't stay.

I stayed in room 259 here are my pros and cons of my 2 star rating.

Pros:
I did not see any bugs in my room
Beach access
Amenities ( we used the pool, tennis courts and coffee shop)
Lots of hang out areas (we went with a huge group of family members)

Cons:
Cabana rooms are old and run down
2 people in my group ate at the restaurant and got sick
Room smelled like old shrimp and seaweed
Carpet in the room has to be original from the 80s- damp and absolutely disgusting
No elevators to second floor cabanas
Ice machines do not even work
Trash all over the grounds

Overall, they need to do major maintenance and upgrading. Or change their name to motel.

We had a nice time. We did have to have our safe replaced as it was not working and the ice machines probably need to be replaced near the hotel sides of the facility. The food at the restaurant was good...but too expensive. The club music was also a little loud until midnight... Burt the staff was nice and we had great weather...

I booked 4 of the balcony rooms 9-10 and when I arrived only 3 balcony rooms were available. The 4th balcony room was not available, the resort upgraded the balcony room to a 3 bedroom suite on the 4th floor which is not what I wanted and check in was at 4pm and the room was not ready until 4:45pm. I book 4 balcony rooms for family and expected to have the rooms. My balcony room master bedroom AC was not blowing good air and the room was hot. I went to the front desk they contacted maintenance, all he did was open a vent more that was already open, this did not fix the issue. I had to purchase a fan just to make the bedroom somewhat comfortable to sleep in. The shower and sink were backing up for the 3 days I was there. One person could take a shower then we had to waiting 3 hours for the shower to drain before taking another shower, luckily the suite had 2 showers as I had 3 adults and 1 child in the suite. The other 3 rooms we had were good just had minor issues. My 70 year old mother cut her arm on the suite door, I went to the lobby and asked for a bandage and they told me they would have to contact security to get one. I told them forget it I will just go across the bridge to walmart and buy some. I have stayed at this resort the last 4 years I have been going to South Padre and this was the worst visit to this resport I have had. I like this resort because of the pools and access to the beach but maintenance needs to do a better job. Resort restaurant was great as usual

Rooms cleaned, the staff was very polite and always had a smile. Pool was clean and staff would do chemical checks every morning. The roaming security guys alway treated people with respect. The restaurants had amazing food, my wife and I went on a fishing charter and they turned the fish into fish tacos for us. Amazing time at the beach and the resort. I will definitely return and recommend this place to others.

Overall decent experience. Kids liked the pools and beach access. It is an older building and it shows in places. The kitchen stuff in our unit was highly used, broken blender etc. The plumbing was problematic and had to call maintenance twice. Also avoid the ice machines... if you look up the shoot you'll find pink mold. We will probably look at other options next time.

Upon arrival at 4 o’clock, our room was not ready. It was booked a month in advance. They assigned another room to us, and it was not ready as well. No working ice machines. Please be aware of hidden charges and bar drinks some things seem like a scam. Tips were automatic included on drinks and tickets. The restaurant located on the second floor was overpriced and poor quality. Housekeeping was very sporadic. When we arrived at four, like I said, the room was not ready and probably at five is when they reassigned a clean room to us. There were several bookings that were sitting around waiting for their rooms. The front desk staff was not very helpful the other staff that was involved with service items, such as drinks, food, etc. were very helpful after all they were tipped upfront please be aware that if your room is located on the first or second floor of the old part of the hotel parking is some distance away and you have to haul your luggage. Very good distance to get to your rooms. I certainly would not consider this a friendly resort for those with disabilities. we’ve stayed in several hotels in South Padre this ranks at the bottom.

The restaurant inside hotel is a five out of ten and due to us using Expedia we had to get whatever room was available and due to my knee being messed up we had stairs to climb and the hotel is beautiful but really have to explain what is available for us to use and what we’re going to be charged extra umbrella and chairs for a beach and ice machine only two available beautiful scenery just really need to give information to guest so we can bring what we need to have a full vacation

Ok, so if you’re expecting immaculate, this isn’t the place for you. However, they did clean the pool daily, the room turnover was nice with fresh towels and a made bed, and the staff was helpful. I requested a renovated room which I did receive. But The room Reno was not well done. Balcony was crumbling and the room smelled wet but that’s probably just due to the carpet in the room. It was honestly a good experience and I had already read all the other reviews so I knew in advance what to expect. The rooms are sound proof for the most part , a lot of people had dogs and were partying and we didn’t hear any thing in the room. The pool bar is the best one to use. The restaurant on site has AMAZING pizza! Omg so good. The crab races were a fun experience with free popcorn offered. The pool stays open until 11 pm and has bumping music, cool lights, and good vibes. Definitely a kid friendly place to stay. Would definitely come back!

I got the 2-room option. It has a full kitchen, dining and living space, and 2 full bathrooms. Also, it had a pool/beach view balcony. It was fantastic! Paper towels are not included in the kitchen, so you will need to bring them. It has 3 TVs and the network needs to be set up prior to using the TV Apps. One of the TVs had cable.
The swimming pools were a blast with 2 hot tubs (one of them with easy entry) and the convenient access to the beach a plus. It has some food options and parking was plenty and free. The staff was attentive. My family enjoyed this stay.

Do not book this hotel through Expedia. I booked a double bed and I was given only a king size bed, staff mentioned that booking through Expedia automatically books only a king bed even though we booked a double bed and there’s nothing that they can do about it. It was really uncomfortable having only a king bed for 4 adults. I reached out to Expedia and there was nothing that they can do about it either. Also we checked in at 3:30 when check in is at 4 and we did not got the room until around 5:30pm there was a lot of people in the lobby waiting.

I booked a beach view room, but I was thoroughly disappointed. The beach view rooms were located outside the main hotel, making it feel like I was in a completely different establishment. I was on the second floor and had no elevator access. Parking was limited, so most days, I had to trek through a trench to reach my room.

On our first day, after showering, the fire alarm in our room blared. It took an eternity to get in touch with the front desk. I called them six times before they finally answered. When they arrived, a man removed the entire fire alarm device from the wall and left it without an alarm.

The room was in disarray, with dirty sheets and a balcony door that almost dislocated my shoulder when I tried to open or close it. The beach view was limited, and we couldn’t walk the room without shoes because the carpet was covered in dirt.

The toilet was leaking due to a lack of caulking, so we had to change rooms after two days. The ice machines on our side of the hotel were out of order, so we had to walk across to get ice.

I was informed that we would have a microwave in the room, but it was missing. The so-called game room smelled like mildew and dirty carpet. The hot tubs were filled with debris every day because they were never cleaned. The overall appearance of the hotel was rundown and cheap.

On one breakfast, I had a terrible experience. The restaurant automatically counted my two 13-year-olds as adults, resulting in a bill of $120.

Please pay attention to the room you book as I did not know we were booking in their “motel” rooms. All the pictures showed the outside of the condos but our room was in the 2 story motel type room, which were very dated. The walls were thin so we heard our neighbors until 3am. We contacted the front desk and were able to pay for an upgrade to their condo room (ones actually in the picture). These were much better than the motel type room but still not great. The condo wasn’t cleaned well and property is dated overall. The pool was nice and beach access was good but I will not book a stay here again. I felt deceived by the photos and what I actually booked. They need to post an actual photo of what the outside of those “motel type rooms” look so people can make an informed decision.

Our room was just meh. We checked in early which was nice but our rooms had ants and the AC wouldn’t go below a certain temperature, so nights were not great with sweaty sleeps. The outside areas, pool and beach were a total vibe and nice. We had coffee from the coffee place inside each morning and it was delish. Overall, if you don’t spend time in your room and I let spend time at the beach. It was great! Rooms were just very lacking and the water pressure wasn’t great either for getting sand off of you. Staff and outdoor amenities, 100%. Room 25%.

- The front desk personnel were frequently away from the desk leading to 10 min wait times to check in and also get towels.
- I requested an early checkout two days early, the hotels.com agent contacted the hotel, confirmed everything including an $875 refund and that I could checkout in the morning. When I checked out the front staff looked confused but said they will speak with the manager. 11 days later no refund

They have changed some of their policies and now early check in is at 1 so we couldn’t get the bracelets to at least hang out at the pool til then. Check in is later than most hotels I’ve stayed at and they take their time to get you the room. I wasn’t able to check in until 4:30. When we finally got our room, restroom smelled like wet dog and tub was dirty. We ended up using the room for 3 hours at most and left. I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.

The only coffee you can get in this \"resort\" is the nasty stuff they leave in your room with the powered creamer. The only other option was the resort's \"fancy\" coffee shop. For $6 you get a cup of poor quality coffee, even worse than what they have in the room. They don't even have just a plain cup of coffee.

Uber to/from hotel 42.00 each way, free metro shuttle along the island was fantastic, you can take it to Port Isabel also. Can't wait to go back!

The breakfast in the Windjammer was very good with a great view of the pools and Gulf. The world famous “Whiskey Shack” by the pools had the best bartender, Raphael! Pools and beach access were great. Parking is free, and safe. There is a coffee shop, beach store, two bars inside, one at the pool as well as a food hut, and a nice restaurant. Walk out to the beach was great but a third party company is in charge of chairs/umbrellas for the beach and charged $50/day for an umbrella. Overall it was decent but I’ll probably explore other options on my next trip to SPI.
