Although this was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced, I want to recognize the front desk staff. During my stay, I interacted with three different employees, and all three were friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. They were easily the best part of the property, along with the location itself.

I understand the challenges of operating a hospitality business on South Padre Island, and I usually give some grace when it comes to maintenance issues. However, the condition of this property goes far beyond normal wear and tear.

The hotel was noticeably dirty, and much of the mechanical, cosmetic, and general upkeep appeared to have been done as cheaply as possible. The overall condition suggests a long-term lack of proper maintenance and oversight. Many areas felt neglected, and some conditions raised legitimate safety concerns.

The low room rates may seem appealing, but they appear to reflect the actual condition of the property. Unfortunately, the guest experience suffers as a result.

To the owners: this property has tremendous potential because of its location. If you are not fully aware of its current condition, I hope this review serves as a wake-up call. With better management, proper maintenance, and higher standards, this could be a place people are excited to return to rather than relieved to leave.

Room was clean. Most of the staff was nice. Pool area was very loud late at night. Boat lift fees were very high and even an additional $25.00 would have been charged to walk on the dock even if I paid for a boat lift rental.

Love the price and the fishing. Been using this for a cheap getaway for at least 15 yrs. Great for a quick shower and rest after a long beach/fishing day but....Jacuzzi never works, roaches almost always come out late night especially if you leave food out. Remotes for TV usually fail and have to be replaced. They have made improvements recently though. TV upgraded to roku added boat storage and added/improved 2 fishing docks

They did an update to the hotel and the bay view is mostly covered. Pool had a cigarette bud and a lot of dirt. Jacuzzi next to it stank very bad full of green water and trash. Paid extra for balcony and door was broken didn't open. Sink didn't turn on in the restroom without using force with a towel. Never booking at this hotel again.

Nice cold room, modern updates, however a bit of rust in the bathroom. Also a lot of noise when trying to fall asleep a little early 9ish, but it wasnt all night. Staff was kind, when asking for a preferred first floor, she was accommodating. Oh, and the blues in decoration were nice.

I chose this place for the hot tub which was not working. The pool was terrible NOT CLEAN. The room smelled Wet and MUSTY. The mini fridge had rust.. I Will Never Stay Here Again . I Left After 20 minutes from Check in. I lost my fee and I'm still waiting for my Security Deposit to be Returned Back to Me

Our room smelled clean when we got there. Bedsheets and towels were clean. However, it's a very old room and could use a deep renovation. Only the floors look to have been updated. The curtains actually had mold spots on them by the window AC. Door was very old and damaged, bathroom door was also split in two damaged. Shower head needs descaling, water sprays outside. The hair dryer was fried, melted, didn't look safe to use. Old fridge and table rusted. Some outlets didn't work. The sink drain smelled very bad of sewer. Bed was not comfortable for me. Just over all, the property needs maintenance. But we needed somewhere cheap to spend the night and this was what we went with. I've stayed here before in better rooms, but I'm guessing not all of them are updated, this one was definitely not.

No es nada igual a las fotos,las escaleras estaban un poco quebradas casi me caia porque le faltaban pedazos a las escaleras ,salio una cucaracha de la mesita que esta entre enmedio de las dos camas y salio otra en el baño por donde estaban las tuallas en la pared. Tambien salia agua debajo del refri el refri esta super chiquito. No avia mesa para comer ni nada mas que donde estaba la tele puesta. No lo recomiendo la verdad y aparte en las reglas dice ruido despues de las 11 de la noche no permitido pero despues de las 11 avia demasiado ruido y avia gente fumando mugrero todo el tiempo que saliamos de la habitación y yo con mis niños chiquitos. Si quieren donde quedarse y van con familia este lugar no lo recomiendo para nada. Y los parqueaderos estan muy chiquitos no hay espacio se batalla bastante para parquearse si esta lleno el parqueadero y luego unos mal parqueados. 0/10 NO LO RECOMIENDO SI VAN CON FAMILIA.

Never again! The pictures look AMAZING! When we arrived… the place is very run down. There are people smoking things they aren’t supposed to be smoking every corner you turn. The stairs to walk upstairs were worn and falling apart. Grass isn’t green.. patio furniture is rusted and can’t be trusted. Bathroom was filthy!! Shower tiles were dirty, corners of the bathroom had mold, there was blood stains under the rim of the toilet. There was hair on the shower wall. Beds are UNCOMFORTABLE… sheets are paper thin and pillows are worn. Walls are extremely thin and you can hear people’s beds and furniture creaking. Fishing area is decent, but people gut fish and just leave them floating around & it doesn’t look or smell great. Parking spaces are very narrow and it’s extremely hard to park and find parking. It was an extremely disappointing experience. We only stayed one night. I’d been wanting to stay there for a while because I’d always seen the pictures online…. But they are extremely deceiving! I wouldn’t recommend this place AT ALL.

The ac wasn’t working and the staff couldn’t do anything about it since the manager wasn’t in and not maintenance worker was available. I spoke to the manager the next morning and explained it was hot all night and she said no one called her to tell her even the overnight female worker told me she did. They didn’t want to give me a refund or partial refund. There was dead bugs in the shower and the fan didn’t even work either. The hot tub was dirty and elevator was having problems. I do not recommend this motel.

I paid for a king suite with a kitchenette and a balcony. Upon arrival there was a bag of garbage and used/dirty rags left on the balcony. The room was absolutely filthy, no kitchen not even a coffee pot ! Asked for a new room with the amenities I paid for, no ! They do not have kitchenettes nor coffee pots, nor do they have the free breakfast they advertise. However, you can get the coffee at the front desk (was told they are open 24/7) untrue. When they close they do leave an emergency # to call on the front door, coffee is not an emergency, this was after 8:00 a.m. There was unknown stuff running down the walls, on the curtain going out to the balcony, etc. There was no door handle on the patio doors so no lock ! I was provided some grey (originally white) towels and one washcloth of which I used to clean the filth off the refrigerator (it was now black) There was black mold in the shower and no hot water. There are open wires in the bathroom right next to the shower. Key cards do not work, you need to go get them reset often and the staff laughs at that ! So for safety and health reasons I had to book a room elsewhere and requested a refund, was told my booking states no refunds ! I said it did not state the unsafe conditions, the details of black mold, no kitchen, etc. They told me I have to understand it is an Island, WOW. I have stayed on the Island 3/4 other years and never had any issues ! DO NOT STAY HERE ! My next place was the best \"Surfside 11\"

WASTEWATER INN! If I could give a negative review I would! STAY AWAY!!!! When I first checked in they gave me a dingy 1st floor room that you had to enter in a very sketchy area of the hotel, when I asked for a safer room I was told that was all that was available. My sister had reserved what she was told was a kichenette for ALOT more money and her room did not even have a coffee pot! When we brought this to the attention of the girl at the front desk, she offered to \"upgrade my sisters room for a condo for another $900 and no refund for the kitchenette she was supposed to get. I did go into the creepy ally room and it was so gross (mold and mildew, dirty ripped spread). i went back to the front desk and told them this was unacceptable and I wanted a refund to find other accommodation. I was told that no refunds were given. Since I was getting no money back And it was so late I again asked about other availability. Miraculously they were able to find another room on the second floor. Unfortunately this room was just as dirty if not worse. NO hot water and black mold in fridge and bathroom. This one had a stench in the bathroom that smelled like a dead body! I went to ask for a refund as I could NOT stay there they said Expedia would have to refund me. When I called expedia they said Waste water inn had to refund me. At this point I found another actual condo and cut my losses. I guess dying or getting seriously ill trumped getting my money back. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our first night here we had absolutely no water pressure, and no hot water. I brought my kids with me and we couldn’t bathe them, we couldn’t wash bottles, and we couldn’t shower. They finally fixed it the next day in the late afternoon. The rooms were clean but the towels and bed sheets smelled very weird. The towels were stained and there was hair (not from us) on the face towels when we first arrived, which made me grossed out a little. The room was big and spacious though, one of the tvs didn’t work. We made the best of it but I think if they just took care of the rooms better and care more about pleasing the guests, this would be such a great place to stay at.
We DID complain to the front desk about the water situation, and when we finally got to speak to the manager, she told us straight up that she would personally check out and go somewhere else.

I’m really disappointed with the way our situation was handled during our stay. It was Easter Sunday, and the weather was extremely bad with heavy rain and flooded streets. We called the front desk to kindly request a late checkout due to the unsafe conditions, but were told that no late checkouts would be allowed.
When we spoke with the employee at the front desk, her behavior was very unprofessional. We tried to explain that all guests were struggling to leave at the same time, with cars backed up and people loading their belongings in difficult conditions. We respectfully asked if the fee could at least be waived or reduced considering the situation, but there was no understanding or willingness to help. We weren’t going to walk numerous times back and forth to load our belongings in pouring rain just to meet the exact checkout time. We did the best we could given the circumstances. We ended up leaving around 11:45 AM, onl 45 minutes past checkout, and were still charged $25 for every 30 minutes after 11:00 AM. There was no compassion or flexibility shown, even though the circumstances were beyond our control. On top of that, we were charged $20 for a second parking permit. When we returned from dinner, there was no parking available, and we were told to park on the grass area by the office. Paying for parking and then not having an actual space available was very frustrating and unacceptable.

Overall, this experience left us feeling frustrated and unvalued as guests.

Our room had dirty sheets, stained pillows (one even looked like it had a footprint on it), and stained mattresses. The bathroom was not properly cleaned — mold in the sink and shower corners, heavy buildup on the faucet, and the shower looked gray instead of clean. Even the TV remote was covered in grime between the buttons.

The worst part was the noise. The room next to us was extremely loud from around 3 a.m. into the morning both nights. We reported it multiple times, but staff only told them to quiet down temporarily and the noise kept starting again. At one point the front desk stopped answering the phone, and I did not feel safe walking outside to the office in the middle of the night while drunk guests were roaming the halls.

Because of the lack of sleep, I missed a morning event and breakfast reservation the next day.

When I spoke to management at checkout, they were rude and dismissive, blamed me for not going to the office at 3–4 a.m., and offered no apology, no compensation, and no refund.

We were also charged an extra $20 per person fee that was never disclosed during booking, which felt very misleading.

Between the dirty room, constant noise, hidden fees, and unprofessional management, this stay was extremely disappointing.

Front desk was a disaster from the moment we arrived. The front desk clearly had no idea what she was doing. she was rude and unprofessional. It took over an hour just to get into our room, and even then, she made multiple unnecessary mistakes along the way. Then came the ridiculous “bracelet fee” $20 per person to be in the premises. No explanation, no justification, just “policy.” So after already paying for the room, we were hit with an extra $80, plus a $5 “resort fee” for a place that is nowhere near a resort. It honestly felt like a scam. Parking is cramped and inconvenient. The room itself was barely acceptable, dirty towels, a strange smell, and nothing about it felt clean or well-maintained. If zero stars were an option, that’s exactly what this place would get. Easily the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

The room was decent but it always smell like weed due to the people around the area but my teenagers literally watched a car of people selling weed. From 2am then 5am usually loud banging on the doors around us. The pool was really cloudy and usually had something of wrappers or food floating in it. We really looked forward to the hot tub like a couple others we spoke to but it did not work and had algea like stuff all on the bottom. The location is nice and nice that you can fish. It was decent for the price but just more cons than pros I guess you could say. The front desk staff always seemed happy at least.

This is one of the worst hotels you can stay at, starting from hot rooms and rude staff to ROACHES! Went to complain to the staff about the roaches and them not doing housekeeping when they clearly charged me an extra quote for that and the employee seemed so disturbed showing really low quality customer service. Had to go 2x to ask for towels! Took them over an hour to do so and they didn't even seem to show interest about the roaches! Honestly very disappointing. The vents started to stink like marijuana when they clearly stated it was a smoke free location! Mind you the room was also hot all night long. Very disappointed with it over all especially cause I paid over $500! Also they never answer the phone.

Door did not have deadbolt or safety lock look like door had been kicked in and never repaired and you could tell it was all damage. Management seemed to care less told me nob would still locked and that was good enough.

Doesn’t look like advertised at all! Tiny mini fridge sitting on the floor could not even fit any to go containers it was so small. No dresser for clothing, no suitcase stands and only TWO hangers so our suitcases had to sit on the floor with our clothes still in them. Not very comfortable for two older people with back problems. Bathtub had a hole in it that was patched with tape. Other spots in the tub were soft. Had some cold weather while we were there and since there is only a sheet and thin coverlet on the bed we asked for a blanket and were told no, they didn’t have any. They advertise a hot tub but that is green and found out it hasn’t worked for two years. Steps are crumbling so you need to be very careful using the stairs. No coffee in rooms either. Lots of screaming and fighting outside the rooms almost nightly so it was not a pleasant experience here.

The room felt super neglected. Pillows were yellow and had human hair on them. Room had roaches.Balcony table was full of marijuana ashes. Curtain would not close fully. Rusty drawer handles. Mold on the shower floor. Our door had an open gap on the top.

The R1’s room I was given, door was unlocked, the door would not close due to it being broken, 2 room given with an Attitude, smelled dirty, clothes were in the closet, blind didn’t close to cover window, bathroom /shower area was wet as if just used…. Clerk just removed pants and walked out,
