Hotel was fine, that's about all I can say not 4 star for sure, more like 3. Poor restaurant choices for breakfast. Room carpet dirty, pillows smelt as though pillow cases hadn't been washed in months. Location very convenient to motorway. Outside is a little run down. Staff English is minimal which for a hotel I found very strange. Not worth the money paid. Not terrible but not great.

Bathroom drains didn't work.
Air conditioning was inefficient. Breakfast dining room staff weren't there to seat us then made us change tables after we were eating after seeing ourselves.

Suited us down to the ground

Driving down through France this was a perfect stopover. Not so far from the motorway, a modern clean hotel with very comfortable, rooms, great outdoor space, and good food. Destination chargers for Tesla and other EVs make this a definite spot for future trips. Oh, and a McDonalds just across the road if you're fed up with hotel food.

Business stay during COVID

I stayed in the hotel during COVID19, so cleaniess and safetey measures are very important.
The room was properly cleaned, overall hotel was clean and more importantly there was rooomservice with excellent service and decent meals. Even the breakfast could be delivered to the room on request.
The rooms are modern and comfortable, good size television with CANAL+ channels.

The only downside for some people could be that there is only 1 elevator for the whole hotel, with COVID only 1 person can enter so you might expect some waiting times in case you do not want to take the staircase (there are only 4 floors)

Do NOT think this hotel is near the airport!

This is NOT an airport hotel, no matter how it is advertised! It is about 10 miles away from LYS, and using Uber, costs about $25 EACH WAY for transportation. The advertised shuttle service was NON-existent for us - even though it is widely advertised. And I was traveling with a native French speaker who could ask by telephone etc.
There ARE three real airport hotels, Ibis, Kyriad and NH, all within five minute drive from LYS or possible walking distance (15-20 minutes). (There is a 20 Euro minimum for using Uber from LYS).

Except for distance, Hotel Mercure was satisfactory -
Good - nice desk people, quality linens, a good restaurant in another hotel about 10 minutes walk away., gated parking lot.
Bad - refrigerator did not work, coffee service in room but no pot provided, old thermostat with no numbers on it (air conditioner was weak, did not work at all in first room, so we were moved into another room, still weak), toilet in separate room from sink and shower (common in French homes), room lights turn off automatically overnight, isolated location at the edge of fields bordering industry, MacDonalds diagonally one block away across the street

Stayed one night on way to Annecy because our flight from LHR came in late. Uber driver took us there fir 24 euro...4 miles away. Didn’t know they have shuttle for 5 euro pp. Hotel Restaurant was closed but there is a McDonalds across the road open till 11:00pm but not open for breakfast till 11:00 am. Hotel is quiet and clean. Breakfast for 15 euro is decent with self squeezed orange juice machine at your disposal, only till 9:30! Good value over all!

Good location close to motorway when driving to the alps to go skiing. Easy to check in with friendly staff. Good parking facility with closed gate entry and exit. New hotel very clean and comfortable. Needs additional staff as had to wait a long time to get served at the bar.

Convenient but should be better

Some issue with first room booked ( they didn't finished cleaning ), so we moved to other one. Wifi was not working the first 2 days, neither the siphon of bathtub ( never fixed ). Friendly staff tho and ideally located near to eurexpo. We liked the food at their restaurant.

Fine airport hotel if you are flying out of Lyon

Nice enough business type hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Locked indoor garage is nice. If you need to leave early in the morning for your plane be aware that you need to call the front desk person on your phone and wait while they come. The indoor garage is locked at night so they need to open it for you to get your car. I would definitely use this hotel again for an early morning flight out of Lyon.

We stayed here the night before an early flight from Saint exupery.
The hotel was very quiet, and had the feel of an old communist block hotel.
There is a gypsy camp opposite the hotel, just next door to mcDonalds.
However, the room (we chose a penthouse suite) was very comfortable, other than the AC that was next to useless (the outside temperature was 32 centigrade at 1830hrs!). The town is this hotels best quality. It's picturesque and has some great amenities.
We'd stay here again, but would have slightly lower expectations next time, so to avoid disappointment.

Convenient if you are traveling

This is a very plain hotel with not much to offer. It is convenient if you are taking an early flight from St. Exupery. It has a nice underground parking garage (only the first 24 hours are free of charge). There is nothing in the surrounding area, so if you want to buy something, you will need a car. The hotel is old but well-kept. Front desk personnel was friendly at check in and un-friendly at check out. Room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very basic.

An hotel with no internet!!!

Internet connection. The hotel is out of the downtown. You may only saty here for some kind of bussines prupose. However an hotel with no internet is no understandable. There is a wifi. But it is so slow, at the end you will decide not to remain connected. Incredible but true. A four star hotel with no internet connection.

good business hotel, but no weekend shuttle

stayed here at the \"airport\" hotel in Lyon, so we could catch and early flight the next morning. It was billed as having a shuttle. guess what, it doesn't run on the weekends. Fifty euros in taxi fees later, we got back and forth to the hotel--which is in the middle of nowhere, with only a McDonald's out front. the hotel was clean and nice, but the lack of a shuttle was annoying since it was advertised on the website. it'd make a good business hotel if you have to do business in the area (not Lyon itself, which is about 20km away) and during the week. Otherwise, forget it.

Not a shuttle hotel

We stayed here because we had an early flight out the next day and came to find that the airport shuttle did not start until 7:30 so we had to get a taxi at a Big expense since the hotel was very far from the airport. The wake up call we set up never went off, fortunately we used our cell phone as a backup. The taxi was late to pick us up thwt morning making it stressful for traveling. We went into town the night before, the taxi fare was high as the hotel was not close to anything except a McDonalds. Best set is to stay in Lyon and use the fast train .

Pleasant hotel with good restaurant

This was my second time staying at the Ambassadeur hotel, and it is a great choice if you are traveling during the week. Unfortunately, on weekends, their airport shuttle does not operate. The hotel has modern decor, comfortable rooms, and pleasant staff. I've eaten dinner there twice and their \"menu affaires\" dinner menu has excellent selections for a good price. Although the restaurant seems very business-oriented, they were very nice with my 4-year-old son, and prepared a simple dish for his dinner, which was not on the menu. The restaurant is nicely decorated as well. BTW, I have also stayed at the Kyriad hotel at the Lyon airport and the Ambassadeur is much more pleasant.

the hotel is fine but I had to leave early in the morning to catch a plane at the airport nearby but no one was there at the reception to open the parking gate for me. I was stuck for 25min and almost missed my flight !!

We stayed in this hotel after flying into Lyon from an overseas flight. We wanted a pleasant place to start our trip in France, and this hotel did the trick. We ate at the hotel restaurant, which had a reasonable prix-fixe menu for 3 courses. The restaurant staff were friendly at the food was good. The Expedia price included breakfast, which was copious. The only problem was that the free shuttle didn't operate on weekends, and we needed to get back to the airport on Saturday morning, so we had to take a taxi. Because of that, I would only stay here during the week, unless I had a rental car.

This was the last day of our trip, so we wanted a hotel near the airport. Our stay was a very positive experience. The room was modern, comfortable and spotless. The neighbourhood was quiet, making for a good night's sleep. Petit dejeuner was excellent. The hotel restaurant was not open on Sunday but the McDonald's across the street (pristine!) was fine. Trip to the airport was an easy 15 min without traffic worries.

Definitely recommended.

Des défauts majeurs

J’avais réservé une chambre avec un lit double et il m’a été attribué une avec 2 lits simples. Demande faite à la réception où il m’a été dit qu’il n’y en avait plus de disponibles. Mais qu’elle ne fut pas ma surprise en entrant dans la salle de bain de voir que la douche avait été utilisée (sol mouillé) et qu’était resté accroché au porte serviette un slip d’homme visiblement porté !!! Inadmissible pour un établissement de ce rang ! Réception prévenue quelqu’un est venu récupérer l’objet en question… et voilà.
De plus, malgré le nombre conséquant de chambres, il n’y a qu’une seule machine à café au petit déjeuner, ce qui crée une obligation d’attente. Enfin, 2 bornes de recharge pour voitures électriques sont disponibles mais ne fonctionnent pas : impossible recharger ma voiture. Ceci dit et ces inconvénients passes, le personnel est accueillant, serviable et disponible ce qui est un bon point.,

Séjour très moyen et pas digne d un 4 étoiles

Un système de chauffage que j ai mis à l arrêt avec le boîtier prévu dans la chambre mais qui a continué de tourner toute la nuit => bruit inutile
Pompe flacon gel douche inutilisable => galère pour prendre la douche
La peinture dans les WC complètement prise par l humidité et donc a refaire
Enfin loin des standards d un 4 étoiles !!!

Nous n’avons passé qu’une nuit dans l’hôtel car nous étions de passage. Nous ne sommes malheureusement pas allés manger. La chambre était parfaite, les lits sentaient vraiment le frais. Nous y retournerons, car nous sommes régulièrement de passage quand nous allons à l’aéroport de Lyon. Nous avons vraiment trouvé un hôtel qui nous convient à a peine 15mn de l’aéroport

Good stay for travellers

The hotel is a good choice for travellers. We first got a room that previously has been a smoking room and despite a long time ago and good cleaning the room was not satisfying for us not being smokers. But the reception was very helpful and we got a new room to our satisfaction. They have a safe parking outside and close the gates during the night.
Fresh and clean hotel that served a good breakfast before we hit the road again. Recommended.

Séjour agréable pour découvrir Lyon et sa gastronomie en utilisant que les transports en commun (arrêt bus à proximité dont le terminus est le point de départ du métro A qui dessert le centre ville). Hôtel très calme et prix abordable, chambre 2 lits une personne très grande par rapport au standard habituel. SDB très propre, quelques tâches sur la moquette mais il faut le remarquer. Piscine agréable. Petit-déjeuner tres varié, le plus : confitures, jus de fruits et yaourts de producteurs locaux. Le moins : dommage que les employés au service ne soient pas plus vigilants sur le manque de certains produits, nécessitant le client à demander. Très bon accueil tant téléphonique que physique.Je recommande vivement cet hôtel dont je reviendrai certainement lors de mon prochain séjour à Lyon.

Hotel non economico ma sicuramente di livello. Camera bella e pulitissima, servizio puntuale e disponibile. Cena buona. Unica pecca, nella camera mancava il set di cortesia, ma una volta rimarcato il personale si è attivato immediatamente per portarmelo. Degna di nota la colazione, davvero deliziosa e con ampia scelta. Nel complesso un'esperienza assolutamente positiva.
