Nice, quiet little inn. It wasn’t as clean as one would hope and the fixtures were dated. “Jetted” tub may have been jetted years ago. Mattress was worn out and we rolled to middle. Great location and reasonable cost.

We went on new year's eve but we heard about a bakery nearby, unfortunately that was closed on new year's but it is understandable. Very nice hotel, the problem is in the morning for breakfast there is a delay in staff attentiveness to items running out or things needing to be done. The toaster was broken last time which was causing issues in the sitting area and coffe was out. Just seemed to be short staffed that day, and in the morning there was not enough help for the amount of people staying there.

This is a very charming small hotel close to Longwood Gardens (10 minute drive). We received a text shortly before arriving with our room and passcode to get in. The front desk was very welcoming and friendly. We reserved the honeymoon suite for the grand sum of $222/night. The room was beautiful and had a working gas fireplace, which was perfect given very low temps when we visited. There is a very full complimentary continental breakfast (waffles, pastries, bagels, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, donuts, coffee, tea and juice, etc.). The hotel is also close to a number of restaurants (some within walking distance.).
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we are back this way.

The hotel room was clean and well equipped. The only negative was that the noise from the adjoining room sounded as though it was in ours as only a thin door separated the two. Based on the few people at the free breakfast, I suspec that the hotel likely was not very full, and I am not sure that the clientelle needed to be in adjoining rooms. Regardless, when the people in the adjoining room conversationally, it sounded as though they might have been in ours.
Breakfast was very spartan, mostly cereal and cold pastries. They did have hard-boiled eggs that had been refrigerated.
Overall, I gave the hotel four stars because I thought that it was reasonably priced and managed, but not nice enough to warrant more stars.

The Brandywine River Hotel was fine. It is in a prime location, right across from the Brandywine museum of art. We got a very good rate from Expedia so we thought we would try something other than the Hilton/Marriot usual thing. While everything was satisfactory, we were hoping for a little more unique experience.
The check in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had many of the expected amenities and some nice touches like an ice bucket and wine glasses. The rug was a bit tired with some small stains. There was a black out curtain but no privacy curtain which would have been nice to let light in since we were on the ground floor.
The breakfast had been rated as excellent but it was almost identical to the standard hotel chain buffet. The breakfast room was bright and clean but needed a touch more charm.
I certainly would not want to take on running a hotel myself; I'm sure it is much more difficult than it seems. This is a Hotel, not a charming Bed & breakfast. Considering the rate we got it was a good value. But a few more touches and it could be quite a wonderful experience.
The check in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had many of the expected amenities and some nice touches like an ice bucket and wine glasses. The rug was a bit tired with some small stains. There was a black out curtain but no privacy curtain which would have been nice to let light in since we were on the ground floor.
The breakfast had been rated as excellent but it was almost identical to the standard hotel chain buffet. The breakfast room was bright and clean but needed a touch more charm.
