The gentleman at the desk when we arrived late was so sweet and made us feel very welcomed. He had our keys ready and asked if we needed anything since it was late, offered us a late check out to allow us to sleep in. Beautiful room and the bed was so comfortable. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Du Pont. The room was beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant provided two delicious meals. Our only suggestion to make a great stay even better is to add a pillow top to the less-than-comfy mattress. We will definitely be back.

Old school charm!

Wonderful experience! The Hotel DuPont is a lovely hotel that harkens back to the Gilded Age! Very well maintained with a friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is very good (and elegant) and it is walking distance to all the fun bars and restaurants on Market Street.

This hotel has long since passed its prime! It's probably the only so-called 5-star hotel that charges $437.90(incidentals) for a single night's stay! What a scandal!

Manager was an absolute nasty person. When my room key didn’t work I went main desk was politely telling a desk worker the key wasn’t working and she was helping. The manager I believe Liesha came out and waved her hand at me like I was dog. I asked if I did something wrong and she began berating me in public saying I talked to her staff badly. I did not the clerk was nice and i was nice back. The manger was nasty rude and would not stop then walked away slaming a wall door behind the counter. Ruined my trip….and night. Sad indeed.

The property was outdated for being a 5 star hotel. Wallpaper was peeling off, dirt on the floor, tub wouldn’t drain - rooms were nothing special.

We stayed here for a wedding. The ballroom and common areas were fabulous, so much history. If you look past all that if you are staying at the hotel, it isn’t great. They are charging far too much for what you get!

Inconsistent service and amenities. We had 3 rooms. Each room had things missing. One room didn’t have towels, other room was missing a shade, shampoo and conditioner. One room had a welcome gift but it wasn’t for us. After we let them know, they actually came and took it away. The bathrooms were dated and whoever caulked the bathtub didn’t know what they were doing! For the price we paid, we should have had excellent amenities. This is supposed to be the DuPont Hotel, where US Presidents and other famous people have stayed.

The only issue I had was that my water and coffee were not replenished. I called down and they said they would send some right up but it took a long time so I was gone when it arrived - no coffee just lots of milk

The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff was friendly. The room was very comfortable. It was about a 20 minute walk through mostly empty streets to the riverfront. Water kettle and tea bags were available upon request. There was obvious mold in the shower and the wall between rooms was not soundproof as advertised.

The Grand Lady of Wilmington

The Hotel DuPont is such a lovely and beautiful hotel. It was good to see it come back to full life post-COVID. The service is wonderful and gracious. This historical hotel is beyond beautiful ! The lobby, the events rooms and the restaurant Le Chevalier are exquisitely decorated. The room itself was luxuriously decorated, the bed very comfortable but unfortunately the heat was not working….I was freezing ( I’ve visited right before Christmas) I’ve complained to the reception and luckily an engineer with an assistant promptly addressed the issue. Beautiful historic Wilmington Hotel

Hôtel DuPont is a beautiful, historic hotel, conveniently located in downtown Wilmington. Our room was spacious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. In fact, the first evening we were there, as we were walking around exploring the hotel, Robert from Security offered to give us a personalized tour, showing us the magnificent ballroom and explaining the history and artistry of the fixtures. Another nice feature of the hotel is that they have a free shuttles available for local transport available on a first, first serve basis. We were able to use it several time for places we were going that were not walking distance. On the less positive side, service at the hotel was uneven. We ate breakfast at the hotel’s Cavalier restaurant the three mornings we were there. The restaurant is gorgeous. It has the feel of an authentic French Brasserie. The menu is decent and the food was mostly quite good, but service, while friendly, was spotty two of the three days we were there, and on one morning it was downright confused. The third morning, with a different server, it was excellent. Similarly, housekeeping the first day we were there was excellent. However, the second day, we were out from 10 am till 3:30, but when we got back to the room it hadn’t be cleaned. So we had to call to request housekeeping service, at that late hour. Overall though, we did really enjoy our stay and we Hotel DuPont is an excellent choice for visitors to Willmington

We had a very nice stay. The hotel was clean and service was good. We were given an impressive tour by a security guard who knew the history and decor of the building which helped us to notice the thematic patters throughout the hotel.

I stayed in room 722, king bed with lots of room. Only stayed one night and for the price, over $400 a night, I was a bit disappointed. The overall room was okay however the entrance door to the room did not shut properly. The major disappointment was the bathroom. The sink was clogged and the water would not drain, (did not notify staff until check-out due to did not want a maintenance intrusion or room change since only for a night). The shower spout was bulging out and the toilet pressure was low.

Overall the was okay but for five star prices, I would expect a hell of a lot more. The property is huge and has a restaurant, very good drinks. The hotel spans several blocks in a square and also has a eatery accessible from the hotel. I personally would not stay here again, not for the over $400 dollar price. My wife let the staff know about the room issues and the staff did not charge us for valet parking. We were not looking for anything but that was a nice gesture.

The lobby of this hotel is exquisite but that is its sole good point. The rooms are nightmares. They are either too hot or too cold. At 11:30 at night we had a worker with a huge ladder in our room trying to fix things, making sleep impossible. And he failed. Basic linens are lacking: we had no bathmat the first night and no fitted sheet. There is only one small mirror which shows you only from the chin up. The room coffee machine was hard to work. The room itself was very tiny and lacking in such touches as robes or anything to make it nicer. It took two requests for blankets to arrive. No fans In the bathrooms so the shower steam lingers. We left there more exhausted than when we arrived.

We were in Delaware for a short time & stayed at the Hotel DuPont for one night. We should have stayed longer. What a beautiful hotel! The lobby was richly detailed with an amazing ceiling. Our room was spacious-larger than our first apartment! It was classically styled but comfortable. The staff was so courteous. The bar was cozy. Hotel DuPont in decline

This has always been a special place for myself and my wife. Our wedding night was spent here and we’ve returned for special occasions several times throughout the years. Our latest visit was to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. Almost everything was fine except the bathroom. I’m used to the Hotel DuPont always being on top of their attention to detail. Our room had a jet tub and shower. The tub took over an hour to drain. There was a significant crack in the countertop. There were smudges on the mirror. There was dust on the edge of the sink. It just felt like it wasn’t cleaned to their normal level. Also, while the rest of the room was nice, the bathroom looked like it had last been updated 40+ years ago.
It was still a nice place, but it was definitely not as nice as it used to be.

A grand old hotel not keeping up with the times.

When we arrived to check - in, the computers were not working. Apparently, this is a common problem because the computers were also slow upon check out. It took us more than 30 minutes and 3 trips up in the elevator to get into our room. The experience and service were so bad that we were given complimentary prosecco and a $50 credit. The room was probably very luxurious back in the 1970s but it looks very dated. The carpet looked to be at least 40 years old. The paint in the bathroom ceiling was peeling.

I’ve stayed there many times over the decades but the hotel seems a bit rundown. It may be COVID related. I couldn’t check in at 4:00. The shower door didn’t close, the shower head leaked; it took forever to get hot water, the toilet was running. Plastic cups in the bathroom unwrapped and wet. No bathroom supplies e.g Qtips. The rooms could us some more light. The elevator looked like hadn’t been cleaned in sometime. The floor to DECO was unfinished, not paved/covered smoothly.
The menu at their main restaurant for Breakfast was rather limited.
