Clean place with friendly accommodating staff. The only thing to note is that the air conditioning unit makes a sound every few minutes (especially when it is on) which makes it difficult to sleep. Apparently it’s an issue in all rooms. We had to ask for a fan for the second night which the helpful staff arranged for us and they also gave us some ear plugs.

Great location but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from next door. TV, text messages, every step! The air conditioner made a terrible noise that they were aware of. It happened constantly when it was on and randomly when it was off. We had to turn our one off because we couldn’t sleep with the noise but as the wall were so thin, you could the one next door.

We loved the location and the quaintness of the room and amenities. Check in instructions could have included buzzer instructions and entry. We called and Juan answered. Juan was great at check in. He showed us where to eat and walk and see sunsets. He made a reservation for us as well ! There was a vibrational noise every 1-5 minutes through the night that kept us awake. Earplugs recommended. Otherwise a great spot!

Really clean and good value accommodation. No frills but all clean, quiet and friendly and perfect for ourselves and the dog. Convenient location for shops old town and the beach.

This place does the trick. Great location. Very safe. You need an electronic key to enter the building, hostel and room, so your luggage and passport are safe. Safe neighborhood right next to the cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Food nearby. All the action is just 10 to15 minutes walk.

Great location, clean rooms
The room was great, slightly basic but it had what we needed. The location was great - everything within walking distance. The staff were friendly and were happy to let us check in early. They are very accommodating and allow you to leave your bags on the day of check out to collect at a later time. Only criticism is that it would have been nice to have a kettle in the room. There is a kettle in the reception area which you can use, but it was a bit of a pain to be back and forth.

Very conveniently located. The room and bathroom were both very small - as expected in the city - but there was a fridge and kettle provided. It was pretty clean. No aircon and the balcony doors opened on to a fairly busy street. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Pension la Perla is centrally located on a main pedestrian street that is a bit noisy at all hours. The rooms were very, very small, especially the bathrooms. The Pension was clean, but the rooms are close together and we could hear the other guests, despite them trying to be quite and considerate.

This location was perfect for us as it was right in the middle of everything we wanted to do in San Sebastian. Just a 2-block walk to the beach and less than half a mile to Old Town, where we frequented for amazing pintxos and dinner. The facilities itself were wonderful and almost perfect for what we needed. The only constructive criticism I have would be to have a laundry service because our only option was to walk a ways with all our laundry to a laundromat. We just made do with the clothes we had because we didn't want to waste an afternoon doing laundry

This is a very cute place in the middle of everything in San Sebastian. I would definitely stay there again. The beds were super comfortable and the room was very clean. Only thing that could be improve is more sound proofing. We could hear the conversations and the TV from the couple next door pretty clearly.

Great Value in San Sebastian
Our host was so delightful. Very apologetic for not speaking English, was absolutely unnecessary as she gave us everything we needed for a great stay, including recommendations on where to find the best Pintxos. The room was spacious, quiet and spotlessly clean in a beautiful old building with a lift. Only an 8 minute straight walk to the old town - I will be back again.

The hostal was reasonably priced for the area. Though the room was on the small side, it was perfectly adequate. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good.
The receptionist was very welcoming. She gave us a map and some advice as to interesting places to see, which was very useful.
The hostal is well situated, near the Buen Pastor cathedral, about halfway between the RENFE railway station and the beach. There are some good cafes and restaurants in the area where local people eat.
There wasn't 24-hour reception, but we had the receptionist's number in case of emergency overnight. There was no air-conditioning, just a fan, and it was pretty hot white we were there, but I think this was reflected in the price.
Overall, we were happy with it and would recommend it to people like ourselves who are on a budget and to whom clean, comfortable and friendly are more important than exclusive and luxurious.

Really friendly staff. Juan the owner takes great pride in his accommodation, his city, its drink & its food. He advised which at the best bars to go to get the real Basque experience. Hotel offers discounted parking which was a 5 euro saving per night. accommodation is only a couple of minutes walk from the beach and 5 minutes from the old town. We only had 24 hours in San Sebastián and this was perfect for us. Excellent communication with hotel, warm welcome, comfortable bed with newly renovated (small) bathroom that had unexpected bonus of a lovely rain shower. It was conveniently located a few metres from the cathedral on a tree lined pedestrian shopping street which was quiet in the evening. Lovely boulangerie around the corner for morning coffee and pastries. Pintxos restaurant/bar area in old town was a pleasant 10 minute stroll away.

Wonderful location in such a beautiful building. We were welcomed by Juan, who waited for us as we arrived before the checking-in time. He spoke perfect English and recommended places to visit and the best tapas bars in which to eat. He provided us with a set of keys which allowed us to start our vacation without having to worry about our luggage. We didn't need to use any public transport as everything was within walking distance. The cleanliness of the room was to the highest standard. The room had a small balcony from which we could see the magnificent Cathedral. The design of the room was surprisingly good as the space was small. That is the only inconvenience if you prefer a larger room and bathroom. For us it was just perfect with a very comfortable bed. We will certainly return to Pension La Perla and would highly recommend it. We would give it more than 2 stars.

This place is a gem, best value of 3 months of travel. Very clean and quaint but the staff was over the top helpful. They gave us a guide to tapas bars that absolutely made the trip. The suggested 12 places and we went to 11 of them, so much fun. Rooms are smallish but very nicely appointed.

Easy orientation, just in front of the Cathedral. The staff was very kind and arranged an early morning taxi for us. The room was very cosy and well maintained. I liked the traveller-friendly minimalistic shelf because you can see where things are and check nothing has been left when you check out. Plates, silverware and a microwave were equipped, which we didn't expect to be useful at first, but turned out very handy - when you buy snacks outside and eat them in the room. Pensión ubicada en el centro de Donosti. Disfrutamos de una habitación con vistas a la Catedral. Aparcamos el coche el día que llegamos y no tuvimos que volver a usarlo. El personal de 10. El Wi-Fi funciona perfectamente. Hemos viajado con nuestro perrito, y sin duda recomiendo este alojamiento para hacer un viaje con él.
