Decor is beautiful & the bathroom stunning. Easy access & communication was great. The bed for us was very uncomfortable and far too firm. The duck down feather pillows were too soft & offered no support. The bath was the best feature. Breakfast & room facilities were good too and the property is nice & close to the centre. Parking not too far away either.

We had a great stay in room 7 @ no8 Kingsbury. The room was immaculate, the bathroom was stunning as it was in the basement. Loved the breakfast items in the room, fresh cold milk, water and orange juice. Really liked that it was self check in/out so we could come and go as we please. Shame there’s no on site parking but we found some at the top of the hill, the owners also pre warmed up about a leak in our room so there was a dehumidifier in there. Highly recommend overall and we will be back! Thank you.

Spotless room, magnificent bed, a bit tight in the toilet area, shutters/curtains must be closed to have privacy (room window towards the main street) and that implies lights on all of the time, which I am not a fan off.
Unmanned check in, I had issues opening the door however no issues with reaching someone.
The Nespresso coffee machine did not work or maybe I did not manage to get it going.
Excellent breakfast choices (despite it being in room only).

Absolutely disaster! Arrived to find room in a basement with no view out of window, or fresh air. The door to our room was a garden gate with massive gaps. Had to use coats to seal light & noise. Half spot lights didn't work in ceiling. Blind wouldn’t pull but was probably a good thing as so many cobwebs outside window was like a horror movie. Had shower on arrival that flooded whole bathroom. When rang to advise housekeeping told happens if you use shower on full. Half lighting in bathroom didn’t work either probably due to flooding in past. Bath mats replaced so slippery my husband went flying and grazed all of leg. Checked out first thing next morning as room felt damp and it was hard to breathe. No offer of refund for second night. Would not recommend at all unfortunately.

Our second stay in this lovely b and b. The check in instructions are clear and simple, and as soon as you open the front door you are met with a warm, cosy atmosphere. All the rooms are different but equally beautiful, well furnished and comfortable. We stayed in number 4 this time, which was upstairs, overlooking Kingsbury Street. The breakfast was delicious and items were restocked every day. It was so nice to have a full bottle of milk instead of fiddly little packets that always run out. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are visiting Marlborough.

Clean and comfortable room, the breakfast was good - we aren’t a fan of panettone’s but the Madeline’s were great and the pastries are seasonally changed I think. The room was finished to a nice standard but the doors were still quite small if you’re very tall you might struggle a little bit. I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to stay in a very central Marlborough location, with a lot of character.

This is a wonderful and quirky boutique hotel. We stayed in room 1 in no. 7 with the bath. The room was clean and spacious. We loved the addition of the bath, which is so deep that it was very easy to use without causing a mess (as someone complained about before). Breakfast was refreshed every day and consisted of oats, fruit, cereals and cakes. We found a parking spot a few minutes walk away for the first 2 nights and a 10 minute walk away on the 3rd night so this was a non-issue. We liked the independence of having no reception and no formal check-in. I would thoroughly recommend this unique hotel and would return in a heartbeat!

We stayed 1 nite in room 7 lovely room and amazing shower room which is an old vault only downside is it does flood the whole area but was worth it bed was comfortable it doesn’t have phone network so be prepared to use there free WiFi also doesn’t have normal tv channels you have to sign into Netflix luckily we have Netflix so was easy to do wat really impressed us was def the shower area in room 7 it was awesome we will def return to room 7 if in Swindon :)

Damp musty smelling room, poorly maintained bathroom area non fitting doors bath looked like second hand with cracked enamel and rusty waste unfinished waste pipe in floor, shower area badly draining causing whole area to flood using dull lighting to try and hide defects and lack of cleanliness. Breakfast left in room meant to be continental don’t considered cake no pastries and no yogurt just mainly everything oats a continental breakfast. As a side to this when is a couple staying one of everything is not exactly providing two breakfast. As this is a basement room no available heating even though summer also a problem. This was not their cheapest room and was supposed to be of better standard not just a utilitarian room.

Trying hard but could do better

The room had cobwebs hanging from the beams and stains on the carpet, the shaving mirror and toilet roll holder in the bathroom were both loose and poorly fitted.
The feature bath in the bedroom looked good but the waring not inside put you off of using it, so why install it in the first place.
Breakfast was left in the room sometime before occupancy and consisted of very dry madeleines, Panettone, packet cereals and granola, in the fridge was milk decanted into a flip top bottle which curdled when put in your tea or coffee, and 4 reused Bonnne Maman jars 2 contained fruit which looked as if it was out of a tin and had been in there some time, the other I would not like to guess what it was, but appeared to be a thick Yoghurt with granola on top , which also looked like it had been in there some time.
The access to the entrance door was near a burger sales and you had to walk past their commercial waste bin, not the nicest approach.

Lovely room, bit of confusion with check in, but once read a couple of times we found the entrance, so my fault. A great selection for breakfast, but the milk was off! So when it came to the rest of the selection in the fridge we didn’t try it which was such a shame apart from the orange juice which was ok.

Lovely Location, didn’t love the breakfast!

The keypad check in was great. Parking was tricky, as was carrying in our luggage as we were on the first floor and could only park outside for the luggage drop off.
I think the in room breakfast needs rethinking. We didn’t enjoy the kilner jar of tinned fruit or the overnight oats and went out for breakfast instead on the second day.
Loved the character of the property and the decor of the room but the sash window would not open so we were rather too hot.
I would stay again as it was a very convenient location. Ran out of ordinary teabags, messaged the owner/manager but it took hours before I got a reply which was disappointing.

Fire safety major issue. 2nd floor room flimsy wooden door with 1inch gaps above and below. No fire doors on stairs no fire exit. No chance of escape even via window. Toxic fumes would enter room immediately in the event of fire anywhere in an old building full of internal exposed timbers.
Plumbing a joke, no hot water, shower mixer taps spouting water up the wall. Sink waste plug not working. Good breakfast, funky decor. No reception staff auquad coded entry to both doors. No free parking nearby as its constantly full.

I stayed in room #4 - on the top floor. It's quite quirky, but very charming. Everything was clean and tidy and excellent facilities. Be warned that it is a very old building with a slanted roof and slanting floors, but this is part of the appeal. The breakfast supplied in the room was excellent; high quality and lots of choice. The only drawbacks were the outside automatic (number keypad) lock was a bit finickity and took several tries to actually get in. Also, room #4 has a weird gap at the top of the door into the room (this is due to the slanted roof). It just made me a little uncomfortable.

A fabulous alternative to ordinary hotels

We had a great experience staying in room 1, at number 8. The property is ideally located for visiting Marlborough, being 1 minute's walk from the high street and numerous restaurants. Self check in was simple and very convenient. The room itself was wonderful. Very cosy and well furnished, with a comfortable bed and excellent shower. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with all items being replenished each day. We much preferred staying here to our usual hotel and hope to return very soon.

The place was very simple and easy to find, the key/cardless check in was great, directions to the room were also good. The room itself was very nice and looked the exact same as the photos online.

However I would just like to highlight a few points that I was not very happy with. The cleanliness of the bathroom area was not up to a great standard. There were a few hairs in the bathtub, discoloured limescale surrounding the bottom of the tub, alongside a tap that would not stop dripping throughout our stay. I did also notice multiple cobwebs within arms reach, there was a very musky/damp smell in the room in general. Even with the over powering plug in freshener. Of course as it is a basement room it is expected. Although as a professional cleaner I do openly look at these things, I do understand some standards are out of some control however with these it was hard for me to not notice.

The towels and bedding were clean, and the fridge was well stocked with items which were useful. The bed itself was comfortable however sleeping was hard, the door to the room let in a lot of light around the edges from the hall, to the point we had to use our own items to block the light out in order to sleep in the dark.

I would return here but I would not book this room again due to the cleanliness and smell. Overall the place was well presented and well decorated.

Absolutely gorgeous place, and really obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into it, from the decor to the layout and the little extras. The room was spacious and stylish, and really comfortable (the bed was like sleeping on clouds!). Breakfast was lovely and extremely ample, including a daily refrshed cake stand full of treats. Perfect location. Charging points in the right places. A hairdryer that actually dries your hair. Kind and friendly staff. Really what all hotels should be like!

Overall we had a lovely stay. The location cannot be beaten and is just around the corner from the market square. Parking is not so convenient and we did park about 5 minutes walk away and had to pay but it is a reasonable price. The bed was comfortable. We had an issue with the coffee machine which was quickly sorted via text as there are no staff members present on the property. We knew about this before arriving. There was a strange smell which at times could be over powering, like a sewage/ drainy smell. For this reason we would choose a different room to stay in if we visited again. The continental style breakfast is great but I would have liked some savoury content as I found the offer very sweet.

This hotel is the Mary Poppins of hotels. Practically perfect in every way! Beautifully styled, everything you need in the room. Super comfortable bed. Lovely toiletries. Proper hairdryer not one attached to the wall! Generous continental breakfast left in the room. A great place for a night or two. You let yourself in with a code so you don’t see anyone. We had our room upgraded due to a technical issue with the room we'd booked. Very spacious basement room. Comfortable bed. We loved the continental style in-room breakfast. Such a great idea. Nice to have both a kettle and Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Very convenient location for a Marlborough. We found a place to park for free further up the hill. Lighting very dim in the bathroom. We understand there had been a flood from the bath a few weeks previously, which meant the floor lights had stopped working. Could do with some additional lighting or repair. Friendly housekeeping team.

Read the small print, wherever that is!?

This is not a hotel, it’s a self service room with no staff. My room was very damp, the bathroom has no ventilation or extraction so smelled bad. It was difficult to get the key pad to work and there were no light switches. The electrical supply to the room was switched in via two main switches above the door. The front of the property was very unkempt and unappealing. Breakfast was left in the room. There is no parking. The bed was comfortable but small.

More specific information needs to be provided and a more fair and reasonable description of the room and services.

If you are looking for something different room 7 has a very quirky bathroom. The breakfast was a good choice of cereal, over night oats and fruit pots with milk and orange juice supplied. It is within walking distance to Marlborough town centre so ideal for a meal and drinks.

That said the room was clean and convenient for my requirements although I would have preferred a softer mattress. Additionally, as we had to eat breakfast in the room and there were two of us, a second chair is essential.

Easy access to the property. Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Use the road opposite for parking. Two hours free then 6-8 is free, so we parked 4pm to 10am. Don’t park in high street overnight in case the market is on the next day.
Nice breakfast, especially the fruit. Would have preferred pastries to cakes but not an issue as the fruit, cereal and overnight oats was enough.
Would I stay again? Yes and would probably go for an upgraded room.

The check in was faceless which is great should you not wish to communicate with anyone. The room was large and clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, spacious, well equipped and the shower easy to use. Having the breakfast in the room made the stay easier and relaxing. For me the only ‘slight’ drawback was the bed sank toward the middle. But, hay ho, I slept well.

The room was really comfortable with a massive cosy bed, big roll top bath, tea and coffee. My partner and I stayed for two nights over New Years and had a wonderful time. Just round the corner from the high street so cery convenient.

A lovely accommodation with loads of character and so close to the centre of town. Our room had one of the best showers I've ever had the pleasure of standing under. There was a small problem with the wifi in the room but this was sorted after a quick phone call. For sure, parking can be an issue but with a bit of patience you'll find a space nearby. All in all, it made a nice change from the standard hotel.

Marlborough stay

Extremely comfortable bed and excellent generous breakfast. Communication was also excellent with detailed advice and instructions. Great value and would definitely return.

Oh wow!!!

What a fantastic quirky room. Loved everything about it from the old wooden beams to the uneven floor that would challenge even the most adamant \"im not drunk\" drunk.
No full English breakfast which was not even missed due to a well stocked fridge with continental goodies and pastrys on the side.
No detail was missed. Will definitely be back again some time soon.

Quirky, cosy, comfortable, convenient.

Second time staying at the Kingsbury and I'll certainly stay again. Rooms are great with their own quirks and features, lovely old building, great location, breakfast provided in the room is excellent. Nowhere I'd rather stay in Marlborough.

Great location- stupidly I didn’t realise bathroom was separate and breakfast was in room but we still had a lovely time. Great places to eat nearby-
Left plugs in the room and the owners have offered to send them to us-
It was a bit weird that the entire place was unmanned but I was worrying about tue parking and the owners did reply to my text which made me feel contained.

Kingsbury ?

We arrived late evening, but the details to get into the house came late. There is no parking and I had to walk a distance to park. Then I had to be at the car by 8 AM and pay or I would have had a fine. We feel the house is overpriced for what we received.

Lovely quirky room

Room was ample for us two including our dog; water was hot; breakfast was fresh and varied; bed comfy and warm; very little noise considering we were on a busy road; furnishings quirky and different

Tried restaurant below the room, Bite Me Burger/Get Plucked - very friendly staff, food was fab and not too expensive

Only 2 minor points to add - clock in room didnt work and neither did air freshener in bathroom (batteries gone maybe?) which did mean the drains in the bathroom were a little smelly

Great location in the heart of Marlborough. No on-site parking but we got there late enough there was street parking. Thought our room was en-suite but bathroom was next door but private for our use only. Lucky they supplied robes. Breakfast was generous but could have used another chair and maybe a tv tray. Very comfortable and secure.

Warm welcome, fresh boutique room, very comfortable with lovely bathroom and excellent breakfast.
No onsite parking but easy to park nearby.
Good for dogs - green space across the road.
