All good except I am unable to wear the nightgown the hotel provided . Look old and dirty and wear and tear at side !
Carpet is tear off between the joining points.

Thank goodness the cleaner is done their cleaning on room clean to sacrificing me. Very good!

Nice hotel for a few nights stay. A few issues like the shower head kept falling out of the stand and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable, but all in all it was a comfortable hotel with a decent breakfast, helpful staff and really well situated. Would stay again.

Excellent Staff but bad maintenance of room

The carpet were all stained and appeared dirty. Toilet flush was erratic and unable to stop water from flowing. No floormat provided and had to specifically request for it. Towels provided were visibly old (yellowish/greyish).

The ONLY saving grace is the lovely and friendly staffs at the front desk that is very meticulous to my requests.

The hotel is in a great location. Excellent breakfast options - try the sarawak laksa. Staff are very helpful and the concierge was able to find tours for a solo traveller without having to pay for 2 people. I stayed in one of the older, cheaper rooms and the bathrooms are in need of renovation however it was still clean and everything worked well.

The staff is friendly but the room hmm speechless…. if i have a choice i would rather not stay again . The bed was super hard like floorboard and the water leaking in the bathroom tape plus stain chair says it all.

I've stayed here several times now over the last 30 years. There are better hotels around for sure but The Grand Margherita is consistently a good standard.

Try and get one of the newer refurbished rooms, my last stay was in one of the older rooms (8th floor) and it's sadly in need of some TLC. Still adequate but could do with updating

Comfortable bed but overall needs some work.

The lobby is in nice condition, the hallways leading to the rooms have filthy carpeting. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms have mold in the showers, mirrors are peeling in the back. We switched to the executive floor and the bathrooms were slightly better but the hallways were in the same dirty condition. Staff is friendly. The place needs some TLC.

Not as expected for a 4* hotel

Room purchased for stay was a king bed but was initially given a twin bed. Eventually given a room with king bed but room condition was terrible. Fixtures were literally falling off like door handles, bathroom not quite clean and amenities like bathroom soap missing. We were given another room but linens like bath towels were dirty and bedsheets smelled. Not something one would expect from a reputable hotel.
Only good thing was the duty manager (Mr Jamahari) handled the initial issue professionally and with utmost courtesy.

Terrible \"4 stars\" Hotel with Motel conditions!!!

Terrible Toilet, Bathtub dirty, Ants is everywhere, No Floor Tower, No Bath Gel only Soap, Bath tower is not clean, Room Not Clean have lots of dust and dirts on tables and chairs...... Never come back again!!!

stayed at room 325, riverview.Great stay at good location near the waterfront.Walkable to market street , top spot, water front ,bridge and shopping mall.
Only downside , buffet breakfast is kind of expensive and parking is limited .Better housekeeping and toiletries supplied can improved further.

The location is convenient but there are issues with cleanliness and service. Although staff were friendly, they were not helpful or efficient. I was shocked that when I asked the reception for a few envelopes, he said I could only have one! And then my friend left a package for me and the reception said they did not know anything about it. I finally tracked down the staff who received it. That was the level of service...very sloppy.

Hotel security is not as good as anyone can enter the hotel easily even with or without access card to any floor. Appearance of building is so much older than image. Blanket got abit of stain but is fine for us. Slipper quality is the worse I even seen, not even make of paper.

Stay in the executive room- ask for special decoration and cake and they reply they will do a simple one with cake. But check in with only a love Swan on the bed that all. Upon this request, it took me 3 weeks to get an reply from their staff.

Good points - located conveniently, breakfast or cocktail choices for executive is a plus point (cleanliness is so much better than level one public breakfast) staff is helpful.

I was then with my mom and 1 year old kid... Non of the staffs offer help. They just watching me with my bag packs carrying my kid with another had my big luggage and my mom with another 2 luggages... I asked not to clean my room as we stay for 3 days, enough to change towels and empty my dustbin. But up to 1545, no one come to change towels...

The hotel is quite old and not very clean. There was mold in the bathroom and the carpet had a bad smell. Additionally, the corridors smelled like cigarettes. Even one \"clean towel\" was given to us with a terrible smell of cigarettes. Shower took a long time to warm (more than 5 minutes), and in our last day it didn't warm at all.
Breakfast is great and the staff is friendly. They provided masks for the haze

Disappointed short family retreat stay....

Good thing about the hotel that allows you to check in earlier.

I booked a deluxe Double bed room.
with river view but unfortunately was given room with concrete slab air-conditioning ducting view.

The parking space is very limited and make thing worse..some of the parking also reserved for no purpose.

This is a pretty decent hotel considering it is old. Breakfast was good. Room was good. Wifi was working well. Within walking distance to the main bazaar. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel should upgrade its facade. Paint it at least. It looks so ugly from the outside. The air cond was centralised & so cold even after I turned it off.

The staffs are friendly and helpful, view from my room is excellent - facing river, not forgetting great b'fast. Areas for improvement - sound proof especially connecting room for my neighbour \"maybe\" on honeymoon and highly recommended to have air freshener place at the alley of each floor. In general, I love my stay.

i like the hotel, bcos of staffs are well trained and friendly, helpful all the time. Good location.
Don't like is the facility a bit old, especially at toilet, the place put toilet paper are rusty and leaking, the toilet paper are wet, cannot be use, the chair infront of dressing table are rocking, may fall down any time.Equipment in the gym some are rusty and not functiong well, all these need to remove and replace.

Great hotel, pity about the neighbours Karaoke!

Always like to stay in the Grand Margarita when in Kuching and it never dissapoints. Great to see the inside has been refurbished following on from the Holiday Inn era and i am sure the external refurbishment will follow soon to spruce it up and show it to its full potential. The real negative is still the Karaoke noise from the other side of the river which feels like its coming from the room next door so an early night is not possible (on weekend or holidays). This has been going on for at least 10 years and why the authorities allow such a high noise output in a Kampong and residential area is still baffeling?
