A great place to stay

I am so impressed by this hotel! The manager is available via WhatsApp and kindly supplied some tea packets and a lovely mini card as I wasn’t feeling well upon arrival (and a cute little teddy bear keychain!) The staff is cordial and smiley. The room and bathroom is immaculate and the shower EXCELLENT!! Great water pressure and easy to turn on and off to save water. There is only sink soap missing. I love the hotel is trying to be eco-friendly with plastic bottle and aluminium can recycling in the lobby (just wish they added paper too and plastic wasn’t just limited to bottles). But also love there are no mini shampoos or conditioners as that’s not eco-friendly but there is a lovely big container of shampoo-body wash. Wifi was decent for video and photo upload but not great for video calls on Zoom (for work). But excellent for workout apps like Peloton. I’m also super grateful the AC is not right above the bed like in most places. So it stays cool but not freezing in the room. Comfortable bed and ample pillows. Quiet too (room 301). Big curtains to block out the light. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the old centre and waterfront, and I greatly enjoyed my walk back and forth to each day. If you stay in the old town, you miss the great Chinese restaurant by the hotel and also TopSpot seafood buffet. I do wish they added a top sheet instead of just having a duvet. Would defo recommend this place!! Also the breakfast is a mix of Western and Malaysian options.

This hotel was eco conscious and the staff were friendly. The restaurant prepares nice food and beautiful fresh juices. No pool or gym. They have a book swap in the foyer. It is a bit of a walk to the to the river markets, but not too far. We made friends with some locals at the local bars around the hotel. The beer is much cheaper. The people in Kuching are all really friendly.

Very quiet while we were staying, which was great! The location is close to many cafes, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The only disappointment was that the rooftop lounge wasn't operational while we were visiting (though it was open for us to sit at if we'd wanted).

Not a bad hotel but the shower in my room only got Luke warm. Also I booked the orangutan sanctuary with them and if they are going to do “tours” they should inform me that the chances at this time of the year are 90% that you WILL NOT see anything. Once you get there before you buy your really cheap ticket inside the sanctuary informs you how bad the odds are but you’ve already paid 90 rings to get there and back so what’s 10 more. If I had known that I probably would not have gone to save my time and money for the Forrest where there are things you can see. Anyway, not a bad hotel, just not worth the money for me so just stayed one night and moved a couple of blocks down the road to another place much cheaper with the same amenities.

Staffs were very friendly. My toilet is bigger than the room. The mattress was sinking and I could fee the springs. Breakfast was not exciting. I stayed there are reading the positive reviews but I was disappointed. Not suitable for a business traveller or family. Ideal for a travelling salesman, backpacker or those who wish to do a quickee. I guess those were paid reviews. Pure rubbish

Love the fact that the hotel endorses recyling! This deserves a thumbs up!!

We were booked in from 16-19 Oct and it was a good stay. Room was a good size, toilet too. Breakfast daily had many varieties even for a small buffet area and they change some of the menus daily too we weren't bored at all. It was a hearty & delicious breakfast... I personally like the Mdm Tay's Sarawak Laksa that was available for breakfast daily :)

The hotel too was well located, walking distance to Kuching Waterfront, some \"heartland\" malls, lots of great restaurants & cafes (a must try RJ Ayam Bakar which is 2mins walk & opens till 2am!) and easily accessible to almost anywhere in KCH. It is even a mere 20mins Grab drive to the airport.

All in all, staffs were really friendly & helpful and that just makes our stay feels the best for our first trip to KCH. We wld recommend this stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at The LimeTree Hotel! Serinah and Monica on reception couldn’t have been more helpful!

I arrived at the hotel at 9am and Serinah very kindly let me check in early as the room was available. I really appreciated it as I’d been travelling since 3am!

The breakfast was great with lots of choice! I love the lime theme of the hotel too! The owners have a lime plantation so there are lots of nice little touches and everything smells so fresh in the room. I’d definitely stay at LimeTree again!

What we liked: location, location, location, the street behind the hotel was full of resturants and people going about their daily life. Very authentic! The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast! We orginially booked 4 nights in a Deluxe Double, it was clean and perfect even though a bit cramped. We asked to view an upgraded room and the upgrade far exceeded the cost difference. We booked the remaining of our stay in an Executive Deluxe and it was fabulous!
What we didn't like: We have nothing negative to report.

Very worthy of it’s price!

Hotel manager Serinah and front desk staff were very helpful from booking till checking in and when we check out! Top notch service and fantastic location of the hotel with the space the Family King suite offers, I couldn’t ask for more! To add on, the location is at the city Centre yet not as chaotic and messy as those that are situated right at the Centre! Many famous restaurants and eateries around hotel! Accessible to all shopping centers and water taxi at the Water front!

The staff were extremely helpful to all our needs and enquiries including accessing printing and scanning services for business back home.
This hotel has everything you need as long as you’re comfortable with a small room and not requiring pool or bar fridge (which can hired at extra
cost if required) the place is very clean and breakfast provisions generous. Walking distance to most cbd restaurants and shopping centres or waterfront. But grab is easily accessed also if the humidity is bad and you prefer to ride in air-conditioning.
Rooftop bar has great view and cocktails.

I booked my room at this hotel because of the great price and the very positive reviews. When I was shown my room I thought I’d made a mistake. It was tiny with no closet or shelves or table. There was literally no place to put my clothes. I’d have to leave them in the suitcase. When I mentioned this at the front desk they offered me a bigger room, “executive deluxe “ I think. It was fine with closet, mini fridge and plenty of room. Of course it cost more than the first room. The hotel is very nice & the staff are great, always willing to help. The rooftop bar is a very nice place for drinks in the evening. Breakfast is included-adequate, but nothing special. I stayed here 6 nights. I moved to the Hilton for my last 2 nights (same price), because I wanted to be closer to the river. The Lime Tree Hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the river.

Very centrally located, within walking distance to many eateries, shops, shopping malls and the Kuching's riverside waterfront. Very friendly and helpful staffs, especially Mr. Gene and the chambermaids.

Stunning daily sunrise and sunset can be observed through the hotel room windows. Good breakfast buffet spread.

Experienced 2-night stay at this hotel. It is comfortable although there was a bit of noise pollution outside since my room was on the first floor, and furthermore, it was a weekend. So understood the situation. The room and the bathroom are clean with minimal furniture. Love the lime shower gel. Connection to wifi was also excellent as compared to the other 5 star hotels. And do not forget to buy the Lime Drops (sweets) at the small shop at the lounge... superb taste. Love it.

We stopped shortly in Kuching (2 nights) mainly to see the Orangutans. The hotel staff at the Limetree went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable, from helping us to find the local stores/restaurants we needed to arranging all of our drivers for our visits. The breakfast buffet is diverse and convenient. The hotel is just on the edge of one of the main streets that was fun to walk down and explore.

Comfortable hotel near to many popular eateries.

Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. However the bed sheet was dirty with stain on it. The hotel does not offer variety of TV channels for guest to choose. Breakfast was \"so so\" with almost the same dishes everyday. If you are staying in the room along the main road be prepared to bear with the noise from the traffic till late night.

It was overall a pleasant experience. My friend even had a nice chat with the owner of the hotel. The theme of the hotel is really \"lime\" The handsoap and bath soap were all from lime and we are constantly reminded of its lime theme by the hotel staff wearing the T-Shirt \"Have the Lime of Your Life\" and there was a merchandise counter selling the biggest lime fruit I have ever seen. The breakfast spread is good with the menu being tweaked a little everyday. But I think breakfast could probably start a little earlier. It started at 7 am but I think maybe it can start by 6.30 am. But one weird part I found strange was the wash basin, the tap isn't a conventional tap and it was strange to navigate and the position of the tap off-centre. Not sure why. Also I think the shower head is probably too big therefore causing the water not to concentrate directly on you and you have to navigate the amount of water rushing down while at the same time trying to adjust the temperature of the water.

A little beauty!

I have written a lot of reviews, mostly extremely positive about the places I have stayed in, and this little beauty of a hotel is only different in that it is one of the best hotels I've stayed in within its price range. I loved it and thought the staff were wonderful too. All of the standard expectations were met to the full, but there were so many extras from the lift security and personal safes at reception to the shuttle bus which you could book for much cheaper than a taxi. The local area is great for food and watering holes and a short walk from the river. Loved it! Well done to all the staff and management at The Lime tree and I am sure you will win many more awards again in the future (they have won plenty since they opened around 8 years ago)!

Perfect hotel for me

The Lime Tree Hotel is located on the edge of the quite small CBD. It has four floors of rooms in a smart modern building and a bar with a view on floor five. The room I had was modest but comfortable. The place is well-kept, and the staff were both relaxed and friendly. Reasonably priced airport pick-up and all the help I needed getting to paces, early check-in, whatever. Simple but varied breakfast in café downstairs although this was otherwise mostly closed for the Hari Raya holidays.

Highly recommended. Nice, reasonably priced hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. I initially booked one of the cheapest rooms, which was cramped and stuffy, and lacked some facilities. But reception organised a modestly priced upgrade to a much better room with a smart, new-looking bathroom. Location is good - just 10 minutes walk from the riverfront. Reception can organise tours, taxis etc.

Such Lovely Staff

We arrived at 9pm - the front desk is manned 24hrs (which we discovered at 4:30am check-out when they were napping on the couches).

The staff are so lovely here! A tourist-map of the city is provided - it is really so much nicer to see this than figure things out in Google Maps or Lonely Planet.
There is also carparking - but watch-out, there are limited spaces.

At entry, your bags are placed in those bell-boy luggage trolleys. And the bell-boy will take them up. This was awkward for us, as we could have easily taken up our own bags and then we wouldn't have had to wait for our bags to come up. We just wanted to shower and get to bed, not wait for our bags.

There is no mini-fridge, but you can request a mini-cooler be brought up. It does absolutely nothing - it is so much louder than the air con and it did not cool down our water at all.

In our room, the toilet seat did not stay up - an issue if you're a guy who wants to pee standing up.
The shower head is one of those ones with little streams that are too far apart - there is no solid water flow for easy rinsing out.
I'm not sure our the bathroom fan works - it only stayed on intermitantly. And not when we needed it most.

LimeTree has all the signs of trying so hard to be environmentally friendly - linens changed every 3 days, towels not changed if you hang them up, liquid shower gel dispenser on the wall, etc.
(But I don't think their cleaners got the message - our towels got changed everyday anyway.)

Nicely styled hotel with excellent customer servic

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel, rooms are clean, well decorated and beds are very comfy. It is situated about 10mins walk from the main water front. The breakfast is excellent with local and western choices. The staff are extremely helpful and helped me organise 2 extra trips which were very reasonably priced and even dropped me at the airport on the way back from one of the trips so that my last morning in Borneo wasn't wasted! Would definitely recommend.

Well run boutique hotel with modern facilities

I stayed there for a week. I upgraded to a bigger room as I needed the space to work. The staff were always cheerful and helpful. Dining facilities very good. Tour bus available and took me to nearby sites and the airport. Newspaper delivered every day which is a nice touch. Room was kept immaculate by the cleaning staff. My only negative was noise from motorbikes outside. I'm a light sleeper and needed earplugs to cut out the noise at night.

nice clean hotel for non smokers

everything works - the air cond, remote, ventilator fan, shower, heater, etc. Room windows can also be opened. But the whole hotel is smoke free so if you are a smoker, either smoke outside / on the rooftop or stay elsewhere. Also no toothbrushes / toothpaste in the toilet, have to phone to request (which I did not). Wifi can be slow at times. Overall well maintained and clean.

LimeTree Hotel may not be value-for-money now when I compared it with 5 star hotel such as Riverside Majestic Hotel which is more centrally located and cost about the same as LimeTree Hotel, which is 3-star.
The towel is off-white with string coming out. TIme to change to new one. The tour packages and transportation cost are really very high compared to even those offered by 5-star hotel.
The staff are friendly but not that knowledgable. Didn't get any good advise on what to do and where to shop.

Not all are perfect

On the arrival day, the sales manager managed to get a table for us for the buffet lunch. Very appreciate it as the place was really packed and all tables were fully booked.
Many eateries (selling roast duck, chicken, char siew etc) can be found near the hotel and even those famous biscuits stores (selling lao po/ lao kun biscuits, sesame peanut candies etc) are just few minutes away. We pack a big box around 20kg on the way home. Topspot Seafood also within walking distance.
The Hong Kong Restaurant which is few minutes away is recommended for set meals for 3-10 pax.
Taxi service can be requested from the hotel and charges are around M$20-30/ trip. The hotel also provide shuttle service to certain places.
Hotel breakfast is also good with many varieties. It may get a bit boring after 2 days as some of the food in the menu keep repeating.
Our complain is only on the wifi which is quiet weak. Need to move nearer to the door/ hotel walkway for better reception.

Basic but with all of your needs.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, Julian in particular was so lovely and assisted us with all of our queries. Walking distance to everything and close to the river, not expensive at all to grab a taxi if the heat is too strong in the afternoons also. The hotel was more than happy to organize all of our activites during our stay & the breakfast buffet was delicious and so impressed with the Sarawak laksa available each morning!

Great little hotel in a decent location

The service here was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and everything was done witha smile. I have to perform some daily work tasks online when I'm on holiday, as I run an online business and the wifi was truly awful to connect to, so I was unable to do my work. If I was just on holiday, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I like the fact that the hotel's theme is green. It's so soothing. Only that, the bathroom has no proper ventilation so it smelled sour after some time. I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Overall, it's quie an ok experience. I dont even go up to the bar so cant comment on that.

Great stay great staff great food!

Very friendly, polite, helpful and attentive staff. Always smiling. Breakfast was tasty, full of local flavour and has a homely \"feel\". Some of their ingredients were carefully handpicked and purchased by the owner and family. Their lime products are of very good quality, even the soaps that they provide in the hotel rooms. Many are handmade, including the lime marmalade that was served during breakfast!

Little gem in the cat city

It was a brief stay before exploring Sarawak further. Loved & appreciated the effort to make it a non-smoking hotel apart from a few allowed areas. Arrived quite late in the evening but check-in was smooth & delighted being upgraded as well. Very helpful & courteous staff. Room is flawless with excellent amenities. Keep it all up!

Good hotel

Hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to a lot of coffeeshops. Staff are friendly, give good advise when we check in. Hotel is relatively clean. I find that the bed is too soft giving me a backache. The rooftop bar is an excellent place for a drink and relax.

Budget hotel on a busy street

We chose the Limetree as it had received good reviews. As a one night transit hotel it was fine, but very basic considering the price was the same as 4-5 star hotels nearby.

Pleasant stay

Hotel fairly close to everything; about 10 minute walk to promenade. Restaurants / cafes nearby. Nightly food court (Top Spot) with great seafood about a five minute walk away.
Hotel minimalistic so no wardrobes, etc for storing clothing when on a longer stay (I stayed 4 nights). I would have preferred to have not lived out of my pack for that period of time.
Hotel breakfast fine and adequate.
Overall room cleaning OK as the sand I'd deposited on the floor (from my feet and shoes) was vacuumed away. However, in the bathroom there was one area behind the basin that was not cleaned before or during my stay as the rubbish remained.

lovely stay in the lime tree

We stayed for 4 nights during a visit to Sarawak. The hotel kindly upgraded us as we were on honeymoon. The staff were so friendly and polite and always greeted us with a smile. Breakfast was plentiful with a variety of food. Nice modern hotel, very clean. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I stayed in this hotel as part of my trip to Malaysia for a reunion. Overall it was a good experience, the hotel was not luxurious but the staffs were friendly, the rooms and the bedding/mattress was comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic, non luxurious but with a good variety of local and continental foods.

The locality was just right for me.The hotel staff were very helpful to me for finding out opening times to local Banking, access to restaurants, Transport to locations of interest to me or arranging for hire cars to places not frequented by tours e.g Matang. I would like to mention hotel staff like Eliza,and Yayati at the Reception for their excellant service and Nizman is giving correct direction and advice on how to get to Bako Nationsl Park via Kuching Rapid Bus too!

Brilliant breakfast - excellent start to the day.

This Hotel certainly does a good breakfast with wide variety of local foods to include the famous Sarawak Laksa and the usual European/Continental fayre. Assortment of local fruit and fresh lime juice for the health conscious.

The Hotel has very friendly and helpful Front of house staff...indeed all the staff we met were very courteous, polite, friendly and spoke good English especially the owner himself who was happy at all times having breakfast with his guests.

Hotel room comfortable and clean. Complimentary water , coffee and tea making facilities plus free Wi-fi really seals the deal. You won't need much more as Kuching is for the Outdoor Active holiday maker with so much to see and do that you won't need much more than this.

You even have free access to the Computer use in the Hotel lobby area to plan out your activity in the local area. The Hotel itself helps with booking tours and organising them for you if you so wish or guiding you in the right direction for the local public transport ( bus station ) depending on your budget.

Will certainly return to Kuching and stay at this hotel as we genuinely enjoyed their hospitality.

PS: Almost forgot they have a lovely ope n air rooftop terrace which serves food/snacks and drinks in the evening which certainly helps you to unwind and get to know other hotel guests.

Small room, buzzing every 15 secs and broke toilet

Room was small; there was a buzzing sound coming from the wall (room 416) like a vibrating cell phone exactly every 15 seconds for 5 days. The toilet broke. The staff was friendly & the breakfast buffet was great. The hotel van was driven by a man who speeds and tailgates- very aggressive. We found other taxis in the area very good. Smoking WAS allowed on the fifth floor bar and the smell filtered down a few times to the forth floor.

Good Location

The hotel is in a good location. The street traffic is a little loud, but I was on the first floor. The staff is very helpful and jump on any issue that comes up. The internet is a little spotty but was corrected very quickly. The only drawback is that it has no room safe.
