Rooms are dirty, plastering fallen off the ceiling, moldy bathroom. The cleaning is terrible, 4 staff, one empty the bin, one change the towel, one flush the toilet didn't even clean it and no vacuum done once when we stayed for 1 week. It took them 5 mins to complete a 2 bedrooms apartment. The aircon stop working and ice accumulated and the repairmen had to chopped off ice and full of mold came off from the aircon. There is no washing detergent and no sponge provided and it's supposed to be fully contained kitchen. After moving us to another floor, the fridge not working and there was a missing television too. There took it from another room to replace the fridge and television. We complained about the plaster falling off from the ceiling, there wasn't any reaction from the staff. I wouldn't recommend any one staying there considering the conditions of the apartment and the high price and terrible cleaning job.

Room is clean and well maintained. Staff, from front desk to housekeeping are friendly and helpful. Price is decent. Location is in the city but without the hustle and bustle of traffic...could be the Covid 19...Would certainly recommend friends this place.

Nice location but old and tired

The building is getting old and tired but I can’t fault the location. The staff was friendly but the apartment needs to improve on its noise insulation. You could hear the neighbor clearly and the noise from the karaoke nearby on a Friday night was just horrible.

Stayed there for 3 nights. Room size was OK. Condition was normal but can be better. Have to take a lift to level 4 to reception and then another lift to the room. More like an apartment than hotel. I would say it's a simple and affordable stay. Don't expect too much or you'll be disappointed.

Overall ok

Strategic place but difficult to park car and not safety to park car at parking place for whole night. No Internet in room, I requested when I booked the room, but arrived there with disappointment , only can online at lobby. Swimming pool n bedroom I give 4stars.

The building, corridor and room were all in desperate need for removation, especially the bathroom. I only got two bath towels and I had to ask to have them changed after a couple of days. The hotel is not environmentally friendly. The aircon was always on even if I turned it off on my way out, it got turned back on when I was away. The bathroom was moudy. It was not a four stars.
For the price I guest one should not ask for too mcuh. It is very close to Pullman and Hilton and is walking distance to a few good local restuarants and the river front. The staff were friendly and very helpful otherwise.

A nice stay.

The hotel was in a good location only 10 minutes walk to the river where you will find all the action. The rooms and bathroom was clean and the beds and linens comfortable though the pillows were a bit thick and hard which made sleeping difficult but when I asked for a softer pillow they managed to find a couple.
Alround the hotel was a good stay and we came away from Kuching feeling relaxed.

Difficult to locate hotel reception.

I booked 2 rooms for my stay from 8 to 10 September. As our flight arrived late in the night, upon arrival at the building we could not locate the reception of the hotel as the hotel's reception is located on the 4th level and also that as the building also include offices, the main lift lobby area was locked and we could get in. We went round the building and located another lift lobby area. There were no signs indicating the hotel reception. At checking in, we were surprised that the 2 rooms we booked had king size bed when at the time of booking some 1.5 months ago, I requested for 1 room with a king bed and the other room to have 2 single beds. The receptionist explained that the change was instructed by management. I would have preferred that the hotel sent me an earlier notification of being unable to fulfill our bed preferences. Otherwise stay at hotel was good but the hotel looks dated and the corrider leading to the rooms smelt of stale dampness. It is centrally located and within 3 minutes of walking to Jln Padungan.

We have travelled extensively. Massive let down. Room and hotel smelt terrible of mould and smoke. Facilities were dirty with excessive mould in wet areas, stench in rooms. Bins in lobbys were overflowing the whole stay, evrywhere was grubby.
Breakfast was very basic.

We left after 2 nights and moved to the Pullman.

Good hotel near to Pullman or Hilton in Kuching

Internet connection was poor. Was only able to connect to the network on the first night there, subsequently, failed to connect despite trobleshooting my device. Staff assured me that they will inform the network provider regarding the issue and recommended me to connect to other floor networks, but I was still unable to connect to those using my laptop and mobile phone.

Nevertheless, it is a reasonably-priced hotel located within the vicinity of the likes of Pullman (50 metres away) and Hilton. Room (4/5) - comfortable bed, balcony was available, air-conditioning was in working order and hot shower was available at all time.

Staffs were friendly, approachable and helpful. Checkout was fast - only needed to pass them my keys and that was it.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel (service apartment) for stay, if you would not mind staying without internet connection. A good alternative if you are heading down to Kuching for a conference, etc. held at Pullman/Hilton and would like to spend less for a similar quality accommodation. (Hopefully the administrators will have sorted this issue out by the time you see this review)

The poor image is they do no have parking. If you stay on weekday. High chance to get Saman . As it is public goverment parking area. Breakfast choice is extremely less. If you want book it, please select no breakfast, save the money to go outside eat.

Dated and in need of maintenance

We stayed in a Superior King Room at Ariva when we were stopping by Kuching for a night. Staff were generally friendly and helpful, check in was quick. However, that's about where the positives end. The hotel is very dated - it looked like it could have been a decent hotel years ago, but it is now just a very old place with a shaky lift, sinking beds, loose and leaking taps and stained carpets. Shower pressure was great and we were able to check in early (around 10am) and check out late (1pm) at no extra charge, so these were plus points. However, all things considered, we wouldn't recommend this hotel for its price.

It was a good stay. The room is provided with all the necessarry amenities, and even with in-room laundry! Shopping mall, food stalls/restaurants are just nearby. Only airconds are just quite a drawback: old and not functioning properly sometimes. Breakfast is decent.

We stayed for a 4 nights at Ariva Residence for leisure. Upon check-in, the staff greeted us and check-in process was quick n simple. Our room was very spacious for the price that we pay. The hotel offered a parking card which was complimentary with a deposit of RM 100 (refundable). Definately a benefit!

We had an issue with the next door guest. They are very noisy during the night. We complained to the Reception and they arranged for a room change that day.

Bfast is very basic. But, we dont mind becoz it was cozy area.And, plenty of choices nearby.
Spoke to one of the Housekeeping lady, level 10, (cant remember her name). Good communication and showed interest in guest needs.

Overall, am quite happy.

Best Service Apartment with Reasonable Price!

Check in with ease. The apartment comes with all the utensil needed for cooking and even washing machine! The pool is very family friendly. Sauna and Steam room is good enough for a few lads to enjoy. It's just like second home feelings! It will be great if hotels can provide mini laundry detergent and dishwasher liquid for convenience =) Breakfast however is a disappointment. Serve more varieties eg: scramble eggs, croissant, local kueh... Coffee is very aroma tho.. Love it!

Sadly disappointed by the Ariva Gateway. It's more a 3 star facility which is let down by the age of the building. e.g.: Of the 6 lifts, 3 were unserviceable. ... a situation made worse by the fact that reception is on the 4th floor (and the hotel also starts from the 4th floor) and hence the left is shared with all commercial users of the building. Breakfast is also very simple.

The staff tried their best and were very responsive. I think they are really being let down by the building and hotel owners.

To get to The reception, you have to go to The 4th floor of a commercial building which is full of worker. Good luck for the elevator, there is only 3 working and t'ils full of worker. The staff doesn't do that much to help you. My Room was on the 6th floor. As soon as we got out of the elevator, there was a really bad smell of moisture. Same thing in The room. We opened The patio door to get rate of The smell, didn't work. We Turned The AC full blast samething. Patio, there was 4 AC unit on my 2 x 10 feet patio (noisy). The carpet and most of The furniture are due to be replaced. Breackfast, I had a look at it and that was enough, I went to eat somewhere else. I was in Kuching for 3 nights so I réserved two more nights in an other hotel, closer to The airport, it was almost a 5 stars hotel for the same price as the Ariva Gateway. This hotel is definately not a 4 stars hotel. This was The worst hotel I had in 2 months in Asia.

Fantastic location walking distance to everything.

We loved the location, roof top pool gave a birds eye view to the city and was a blast for after exploring Kuching city. Another big hit was adequate tv channels to entertain the kids and adults.The front office staff was very helpful.The kitchen area was good though can be better if we could buy small amounts of dish washing detergent and washing detergent for washing machine from front office.Washing machine /Dryer was my favourite. Could not work out the air-conditioning though it did work with random pressing of buttons.The biggest let down for me was the showers. The walls could do with a bit more scrubbing or change of cleaning agents.I hated seeing the mould in the grouts and some water seeping onto the bathroom floors after a shower.

We (4 mature ladies) were concerned on initial arrival, (for 1 night) as our booking was not what was booked and then we were offered a downsize we were again not happy and stated on our return we were to stay for 5 nights and our booking must be as booked, On return we did have aour correct booking, staff (especially Daniele at reception), was very professional checked on our comfort and the apartment and amenities were very good it was secure , a great position and we would recommend it.

Have stayed in Ariva Gateway (formerly Somerset) regularly over the last few years. Booked double room for 4 nights and requested high floor room but upon check in was allocated 5th Floor. Managed to get changed to 15 floor. Told no parking undercover available and disappointed as there has been parking before in the past. Room had no hot water for 2 consecutive nights - came and fixed every morning to get it hot but by night it was cold again.

Breakfast was disappointing with small selection and coffee is from make your own sachets whereas in the past there was coffee on a hot plate.

Disappointed with the stay and unlikely to return.

we stay in ariva premier 2 bed room for two nights, we are happy with the interior spacing and design of this type of room! there are washing machine, whole set of kitchen accessories, air-conditional are really in functionality and well maintenance.
just one thing need to suggest, breakfast is not in the same quality compared with the overall value of ariva.

Great apartment, great location

We had a great stay at the Ariva Gateway in Kuching. Really comfortable and spacious apartment. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is great - nice and close to some of the more interesting older parts of Kuching and close to some cracking local restaurants/eateries. Has a great pool too - not too deep for our 5 year old.

I would definitely recommend this place to others and we will hopefully be back at some stage in the future.

Situation good for a short visit. Disappointed there wasn't a lounge/bar where we could gather but should have done my homework more thoroughly.
Only real problems were the smell of cooking from the apartments which permeated the corridors on the same floor and the noise of the air conditioning. We complained about this on our first room and were moved up a couple of floors where things were better but still noisy. Our second room ended with a bucket on the floor to catch the drips from the conditioning.
Would stay again maybe or maybe not!

Good location and good value

These are serviced apartments (so no central hotel areas such as bar or restaurant) but in a good location, 5-10 mins walk from the waterfront. Pool is smaller than it looks in photos but nice and good view from the roof. Our room had a balcony (great for watching new year fireworks) and was a very nice size. Not a great amount of food around the hotel, but short walk to Chinatown or the waterfront

Great place for family vacation!

We booked a 2-room apartment on 10th Dec. Great place for big family as the whole apartment is spacious! The hall is ok but the kitchen (complete with full kitchen ware) & dining is spacious, the rooms is big. There's washing machine & dryer too in the bathroom although we did not use it. Highly recommended for family vacations. And yeah, all the staffs are friendly too!

Its situated in a centre of everything!

The main point that I would like to highlight is the seafood centre above the car park behind the hotel. its provide a wide range of seafoods with reasonable price which you will never get it in peninsular....
The hotel apartments with average condition . the only complaint is the pillow case was dirty....

Hotel is about 10-15mins taxi drive to Kuching airport and cost 30 ringgit. Shopping is around the corner and for seafood lover, hotspot plaza is just next door which start around 6pm till mid night. We stayed in two bedroom and rooms are clean and good for family of 4-5 persons. Convenient location in the city. Recommended.

The rooms were not like the pictures ,bathroom was old and out dated and not very clean, the air con leaked inside the room onto my luggage and was very noisy a man came to fix it at midnight but it still leaked, breakfast was below average, we checked out after one night and went to another motel that was much better we do not reccomend the Arriva gateway
