Everything was good but housekeeping needs improvement. Second day 19/12 house keeper didn’t replace face towels and tea. Then on 20/12 we left the room at about 1130 am. Came back at about 3 pm room was not cleaned. Had to wait in lobby to wait for it to be clean

The hotel is clean and safe. The only thing is the cardio room. The equipment needs to be sanitized, at least once a day. People using the equipment do not have anything to wipe them down after use. This is true especially for the treadmills that get sweated on and not cleaned properly.

Location great. River just over the road. Main town a few minutes walk.
The decor of the hotel almost put me off booking as it’s really not my style but I’m glad I went ahead and stayed. It was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. Large windows so plenty of natural light, able to be opened a little too. Staff were helpful and friendly. 7/11 right across the road plenty of places to eat nearby. Would stay again.

Overall, the facilities are excellent and conveniently located in the downtown area, Kuching. We had a nice stay at the hotel and staff were friendly. Directory of the operation, Kenny Tham was extremely helpful with arranging a day tour for us.

It is near to famous historical sites, therefore very convenient. However, the facility is older and needs updating. My group booked many rooms, and a number of them were damp and moldy. several requested change of rooms. Our booking indicated non-smoking rooms requested, but this was not honored, and my room had ash tray. The hotel is was listed as 4-star. Hence, there is an expectation of certain quality threshhold. Otherwise, it can be a very nice place. At least, the staff were all very nice, welcoming and helpful.

On 1st day check-in I called Receptionist @10.30 pm to seek for House keeping to send a towel and a pillow. I called again for the 2nd time after 15 minutes no delivery from Housekeeping. I gave up 15 minutes after when there was no delivery and call was not pick up by the receptionist

We checked in a few hours early. Room looked clean but there were strands of hair on the table and curtains were off-white. The gym looked new and well-maintained. Shopping mall next door is old and not appealing. There is a convenience store and a drugstore which are great to get a toothbrush and toothpaste (because the hotel doesn't provide). Lots of food options within walking distance.

An honest opinion.

It is an old wing. Astana is the new wing. So this wing condition is a bit shabby. Initially they didnot put my parents and i in the right room eventhough i have told them while checking in. My flight was early morning and i really could not tolerate the mistake despite telling them before checking in. The amenities was lacking initially for example tea or towels and slippers. Yes , we did ask and it still one sachet of tea bag for 3 people. We are tea drinkers..and the towels are smelly. The hotels should really improve on these service. The breakfast was average. The views though was awesome as it was our first visit to Kuching and the room was spacious for a family of 4. The staffs are all helpful and patience. Despite the lacks, our stay was pleasant.

Near with attraction like waterfront river cruise, the famous food court Top's Spot, near with cat monument and the hotel located in the middle of the city. The distance of the airport is about 20 minutes if the road is not crowded. Comfort room, love the pillow and blanket. Worth it with the price. Will come again next time.

Puteri Wing is the old wing. Room and corridors are musty. Carpets and furniture are ancient. Good thing able to change to Astana Wing which is just a year old.

Room service was poor. Maybe because I requested for a wine opener which they can't provide. Should have called me instead of me calling 4 times and waited over 2 hours.

But got to commend front desk staff who quickly acted on my request by borrowing a wine opener from bar and assisted to open my wine.

Original booking was for the old Riverside Majestic which was awful. The room allocated stank of stale smoke and the whole room and corridor were filthy. Paint chipped , electrics not working. very dirty wallpaper and paintwork. We asked to be moved to the new part but were told we had to pay extra. After calling Hotels.com we were moved to the new part known as Astana. This was really good and there was a huge choice for breakfast . DO NOT book the Riverside Majestic.

I booked a River view room at the Astana Wing (new wing) for 31st Dec 2018. We went to check in at the hotel at 2.30pm and it took a while but the staff were friendly and seeing the long queues at the counter, they brought a few of us to the executive lounge to check in. When we got to our room, I was surprised to see that it wasn't the promised River view that I booked. I called reception and they confirmed that it was City view. I said I booked a River view room but they said due to the high amount of guests today, their River view rooms were fully booked. I told them that I booked my room back in Sept so how is it that my room is not reserved for me? They said that they will get back to me after they check so I waited. After 30 mins, I still did not get any reply so I called them again and explained the whole situation again, including paying more for a River view room. They said they would check and get back to me again. I waited and gave them another 30 minutes. Still no reply from their side. I decided to go down to the reception counters. They told me to have a seat and wait again while they checked. Took a while but they got their manager to see me. He checked and gave me a River view room within minutes. However, we went to the room and it smelled musty and dusty, like it hasn't been used in a while. We waited very long for breakfast at Sape Restaurant and were told to go to Lvl 1 where the same food was served but the selection of food was miserable.

The staff was amazing, and the rooms were perfect for what we needed. There were a few ants on the nightstand and the walls were a little thin with a bit of noise on Friday night, so not for the extremely particular. The bathroom was nice and the breakfast was AMAZING! I would return. The location is also the best in the city.

It got better

Our first room on the 10th floor was a disaster. The whole corridor and room smelled of mold and it was visibly noticeable on the walk to our room. The room was quite dated. There were enough issues with this room that the hotel graciously transferred us to another one on a different floor. This was much improved and we greatly appreciated the change. Otherwise - the breakfast was outstanding and everyone was very helpful and courteous.

stayed in the new wing of the hotel. nice and clean rooms, but overall the staff for the new wings are very inexperienced, need to have a little bit of patience with them. i think the old wings food are better than the new wings
