Renovations were underway so the hotel was doing their best to stay functional. The staff were fantastic but the smell of building dust every morning as you left your room got a bit too much after a few days, even though we were on the 19th floor. I would return but only once the hotel was back to normal as the renovations made the hotel more like a prison where they confine you to your room rather than a social hotel.

The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations when I stayed. The reception was tricky to locate first time as you have to go via a shopping centre, but there are staff that get you to the right place at every point.
The pool, restaurant and gym were closed, but they have alternative sites which are not particularly convenient.
I was surprised that there was no choice of wines on the menu, it was just red or white and the white was not good, especially as it was served warm! This is not uncommon in Malaysia, but I expected more from the Pullman.
My main issue was communication. I had tried to contact the hotel via the app, then via the website email address, on several occasions with no response. I commented on this and was given an upgrade, but this did not resolve the problem. I even tried going via accor hotels, so I would not stay again as it was impossible to contact the hotel by email prior to my stay. This is not a problem I have ever had before.
On the positive side, the breakfast was amazing.

The housekeeping was terrible. The room was more dirty after they cleaned it!! Left a glass cup with brown liquid & tissue in it that was not our's in the room.When we complained to the front desk, they did not understand english. After cleaning, they did not give us towels and missing toilet paper. We will NOT stay at Pullman Kuching again.

The staff are very friendly and professional, ensuring your safety. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to walk to nearby shops and attractions. The Pullman is currently under renovation, which it sorely needs as its age is showing in the west and year of its rooms. Once the renovations are done, the hotel will be more pleasant.

Potential is there

This hotel has a lot of potential but you should know that it’s being renovated right now until January 2025. So no access to the pool. Although they have an arrangement to access the pool of another hotel, it’s a bit far and the pool is kind of indoor. The food and beverage are very expansive for Malaysia. The breakfast especially and it’s not worth the price. The rooms also need to be refreshed. Location is ok but up a little hill from the main area near the river.

The hotel was in a good location and the room was good and good value. Unfortunately the room was a twin and I’d requested a double, it took 24hours to be changed. The dinning room was quite dirty and needs a full refurbishment. In general the hotel is soulless and lacks any comfort or ambience, vast areas of open space and the bar area that resembles an office.

We had two stays in April at the Pullman. A comfortable room, good cocktail hour and a great position near the river and city centre. The staff in the lounge (Michelle and Irene) were an absolute pleasure. We enjoyed speaking with them every evening.

Great value for money the rooms are very large and bathrooms also.
There is a little wear and tear showing around door frames but generally in good condition. All rooms have a view either Merdeka plaza way or towards cat statue.
Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Very good gym and pool on site.

A great hotel but not with good services

The hotel rooms were not clean with lots of thick dust. Lots of things are missing like small towel, lotion. The kettle and ac control is broken upon checking in. The room wasnt cleaned properly for the subsequent days. Glass was not washed, floor wasnt mopped, towel wasnt given. The conceige service was great. Parking fee was also not explained clearly which created lots of confusion

This hotel is really run down. I can’t wait for the Sheraton to open. It’s a shame as the staff are really nice

The breakfast is the same everyday! I stay for 3 nights and it’s always nasi lemak and same noodle station!

The carpets to the rooms are filthy. I don’t think it’s vacuum. I was sneezing most days I stayed here

Upon checking in I saw a long strand of hair in the bathroom. The furniture looks tired, there are no charging points next to the bed.

Hotel in general was not well maintained. Both the work desk and coffee table in the room was not wiped down. It is sticky. Suspect that the floor was also not cleaned. Sheets smells clean and hence was changed. Pillows was also not smelly.

Time for a change

Location: city area. Walking distance to Tua Peh Kong temple and Carpenter Street.

Cleanliness: Toilet was not properly cleaned. Toilet bowl has stains, bathtub is dirty. I dont even dare to use it. Pillow has stains.

Room condition: my king bed has sunked in the middle. Sofa looks good but feels as if you are sitting on a wooden chair with some cloth on top. Room is very big and spacious.

Stayed for 3 nights - first morning we requested for 'no make up room' and they never came for the rest of our stay. So we had overflowing rubbish bin.

Requested for room in the middle/ no last room from the receptionist and she literally gave the the last room! (she said middle - she meants the room number!)

Honestly, I didn’t expect Pullman Hotel to be in such condition.

Property is dated and far below the standard of other Pullman resorts we stayed in. Check in unfriendly and no help with bags. Property suffering from severe damp in all corridors on all floor so they are wet with moisture and stink! Rooms dated and unwelcoming. Food quality at breakfast variable - served raw egg omlette and toaster and coffee machine broke on last day. Communal areas unwelcoming. Spa shut and jacuzzi freezing cold. No cushions on sun loungers!

We stayed at the hotel many times before. Before covid it was ok, the few visits after covid were all very disappointing. The room was not clean when we checked in, often we checked in during evening time and the room was still not ready. Last Christmas we basically waited until midnight to get the room. This time my husband felt the bedsheet and pillow got funny smell so requested the room service to change it. We informed around 7pm. It was finally done at 12am after 8 or 9 calls. The service was hopeless. We would not give it another try.

(1) Most hotel staff were helpful, prompt & courteous. (2) Room was not properly maintained & equipped for 2 guests. Flusher was faulty, items were insufficient for 2 guests. Bathroom light tripped. (3) Arm chair had a puncture on its seat and the vinyl flooring was in need of some repair. (4) The door to the linen bay or garbage area was kept open. Could see the disarray & smell the odour.
